Chapter Text
"Unnie, what are you looking at?" Poppy tilted her head, trying to look at the same direction as Celine as she sat on the bench with her. It was nighttime, and it was the perfect time to ditch training and sparring just to be in the park.
"Mm." Celine muttered, her fingers twitching. Poppy put her hand on Celine's nape and gently scratched her skin, earning a barely audible purr from the dual wielder.
A weight was put on her head, and Celine could tell it was Mi-yeong crossing her arms. "What's she looking at?" She whispered to Poppy.
She shrugged. "I don't know," she answered, "But she's staring pretty hard and—"
Something moved, and Celine locked onto it, her eyes wide as her muscles tensed to lunge. A low growl emitted from her throat.
Poppy squeaked and pulled her hand back, cradling it close to her chest, Mi-yeong had flailed her arms and pulled herself away from Celine in a panic, before they looked at the target: a bush.
The Honmoon pulsed pink, and the two prepared their weapons.
"Jagi?" Poppy asked, before something jumped out of the bush and Celine made a leap towards it, the Honmoon's threads becoming hot pink as she and it fought.
SKREEEE!!! It was a faceless demon— mostly in packs, but it looked like it got through a small hole in the Honmoon. Celine seemed way too aggravated by it to summon her ssang-geum.
"Holy shit just how good is your eyesight and ears!? Even I couldn't have seen that!" Mi-yeong exclaimed, Poppy throwing her axe at it to separate it from Celine before Mi-yeong shot it.
"I have no idea, but I've never been so much more angry for no reason until now."
Rumi was a fast learner, Celine could tell. Mi-yeong's daughter could crawl now, and she's as fast as a hyperactive kitten.
Or duckling, in Celine's opinion.
A duckling holding a chunk of meat that it occasionally chewed from and trying to attack everything and anything.
Chirp! Chirp!
"Rumi, little one, don't focus on the spider." Celine chuckled as Rumi squeaked and chirped, holding onto Celine's pants sleeve as she stared at the jumping spider on the counter before it leapt away. The hunter huffed before she grabbed Rumi by the scruff of the bear onesie she wore and carried her on her shoulder as she walked towards the living room.
Rumi poked at the reading glasses Celine had on her chest, making small, tiny noises similar to a baby animal. "No, no— you can't touch it." She pushed Rumi's chubby hands away with a hand (Her fingers itch), earning a giggle from the baby before Rumi bit the chunk of meat that Celine gave her (she should seriously ask other parents if that's normal). Celine should probably ask other parents if it's normal for a baby to eat raw meat at not even six months.
She placed Rumi on the couch before she sat down on it too, grabbing the documents nearby and wore her glasses.
.
.
.
Huh.
She removed her glasses. Now that she thought about it... she hadn't used her glasses in a while, Poppy used to say that her eyesight was as good as an eagle's, ever since she could spot camouflaged demons hidden in the shadows.
She looked at the prescription.
She hummed, "...Did Poppy replace it with no pre— OW!" She yelped when she felt something bite her forearm. Pulling it back and summoning one of her ssang-geum, she glared at the attacker before she choked.
Bah? Rumi— Mi-yeong's and Poppy's child— had bitten her arm and was looking up at her in surprise, her tail wagging low and her ears semi-flat against her skull.
Celine could feel her hands tremble and what she had just pulled. Almost immediately, she had made her ssang-geum disappear into stardust as she dropped the documents too.
She held Rumi's chubby cheeks so carefully on her hands, her heart hammering. "Rumi, baby, never do that again— ow." She hissed, the panic and fear she felt disappearing and turning into confusion and slight annoyance.
The little shit was gnawing on her hand with her tiny teeth— how in the Honmoon is her baby teeth already growing? Was raw meat just giving her baby teeth more sharp edges? Something?
Eugh... it seems she has to leave the hanok again..
...
Maybe she should bring Rumi. Scratch that, she'll definitely bring Rumi.
"Alright..." she zoned out as she looked through a drawer. "Where's that small hoodie and beanie Mi-Yeong bought for you?"
"Well I hope you'll like chicken, or I wasted money for nothing.." Celine muttered as Rumi poked the chicken while in line.
Her head hurts and her sides itch, but it was probably because she hasn't slept properly at all because of her baby.
Not that she cares of not sleeping, she's way too paranoid now.
"I should probably take some ibuprofen later when we get home. Right, kid?" Celine asked, shifting her arm.
Rumi just giggled pawing at her cheek. "Mmmm yeah you're right, we need to eat first." Celine chuckled as she handed the cashier the money.
"Here you go, Gogaek-nim." The employee stated, handing her the grocery bags. She nodded and walked out of the supermarket, the grocery bags on her free hand while the other held Rumi.
Her baby kept staring somewhere, tilting her head as Celine walked. It was probably a bird, since those animals kept following her.
She was near the car now, and Celine couldn't have heard it with a human ear, but thanks to being blessed by the Honmoon possibly multiple times already, she had already heard it.
Click!
Her ears felt weird as she froze on the spot.
Rumi let out a small, confused grumble from the crook of Celine's neck. She made those small sounds kittens made when threatened, just as another camera shutter was heard.
Celine whipped her head towards the sound, her eyes darted around the street before it landed on a small group of three people with cameras.
Are they serious?
Ma? Rumi babbled as she glanced at Celine.
The older woman gripped her baby just slightly tighter. "Assholes." Celine growled out, her throat vibrating. God, she just wanted to bite their necks and rip it off at this point.
Hissss! Rumi's eyes had an amber glint in them as she glared at the paparazzi, who took even more photos as they both glared.
"No don't do that, inside the car, now." Celine hissed as she opened the car door and closed it after sitting inside.
She looked at her chaffeur, who looked at her in the rear view mirror. "Back to the hanok, please." She stated. "I'm going to sue a company and employees." She muttered the last part to herself.
He nodded and pressed on the pedal.
(If a company suddenly faced a big scandal because of stalking mothers, that was none of Celine's business, nor her company's business.)
