Epilogue

For decades, the Sparda manor in Red Grave City was just a pile of ash and bitter memories, just a scar on the earth where their childhood had violently ended. But after all that happened, neither Dante nor Vergil could stand to leave the ruins abandoned to the elements.

Getting the property back had been a huge mess, full of human paperwork, endless cleaning, lots of gigs (now Vergil was apart of the finances with Patty and Dante was out of that equation, so the cash was finally growing) and years of hard rebuilding. Today, the fully restored Sparda Manor stood proud again, turned from a ghost story into their permanent sanctuary. It was a real home now, filled with nice wood, big staircases, and a quiet warmth that completely ignored its tragic past.

Still, old habits died hard, and both twins were way too stubborn to completely give up the lives they had built on the edges of the underworld.

The Devil May Cry shop in Capulet stayed fully open. It acted as their main office, a frontline for desperate clients, and a place to handle messy paperwork away from the peace of the manor. The quiet house and the neon-lit chaos of the shop were in neighboring cities, just far enough apart that you definitely needed a car to get between them.

Vergil, of course, absolutely hated the boredom of human travel. After Elizabeth was born, he had spent weeks carefully fixing Yamato, bringing the legendary sword back to its perfect, reality-cutting state (he did the same to Devil Sword Dante, but only after a few months, giving it back to Dante on their birthday). Since then, he had locked them both into a smooth, surprisingly steady routine: every single morning, Vergil would slice open a bright blue portal right in the manor's main hallway. Dante would lazily step right through the rift and into the shop's office to start the workday. Sometimes Vergil would come along, and other times he stayed behind to take care of Elizabeth, coming to pick Dante up later when night fell.

On a more practical note, the shop was Dante’s ultimate escape valve. Whenever their massive, stubborn pride inevitably clashed (turning into the kind of explosive fights only identical twin hybrids could cause), the cozy home life vanished and the morning-portal-routine was officially canceled. Dante would grab his red coat from the rack, storm out into the cold, and choose the long, loud motorcycle ride on the highway instead. He’d push the bike to its limits, letting the roar of the engine and the whipping wind drown out his thoughts. The shop's lumpy, familiar leather couch became his doghouse for a night or two... It was a lonely penalty box where he could wait out the storm, letting the tension at the manor cool down before he inevitably went back home to fix things.

Making up, though, happened in a language entirely their own, completely unspoken and instinctual. Sometimes, Dante would stare at his phone screen in the middle of the night, typing out casual, vague texts that hid clumsy apologies he was too stubborn to say out loud.

Other times, they didn't need technology at all: the ache of their connected souls, that heavy, hollow pulling right beneath Dante's ribs, would stretch across the miles, a sharp reminder of how hard it was to breathe without his other half.

And then there were nights when the silence of the dark shop was suddenly ripped apart by a sharp flash of blue light. Vergil would just step through the tear in reality right into the office. Without saying a single word, he’d slide into Dante’s space, dropping onto his lap and burying his face in his neck, acting as if the fight had never even happened.

The fact is, there were never formal apologies exchanged between them; they were entirely unnecessary. When you share a soul, words are merely noise.

But today, there was no anger in the air, and definitely no need to drive anywhere. The library was completely filled with the thick, sweet scent of an Omega in the middle of his yearly cycle.

Vergil sat on the leather sofa, pretending to read a thick book on his lap. But the dark flush on his pale cheeks, his parted lips, and his heavy, slow breathing completely gave away the feverish haze of his heat. Dante was practically draped over him, a heavy, solid weight keeping Vergil grounded. One arm was wrapped tight around Vergil’s waist, while his other hand gently rubbed the back of his twin's neck. Dante nuzzled the soft skin right under Vergil’s jaw, breathing in the rich, heavy scent that made his Alpha instincts purr with deep satisfaction.

"I was terrified, you know." Dante murmured against his skin, his voice a low, rough rumble in the quiet library.

Vergil’s eyes fluttered, completely forgetting the words on the page as he felt Dante's warm breath.

“Terrified of what?" he whispered, his usual haughty tone melting into something distinctly pliable and raw.

Dante pulled back just enough to look into Vergil's hazy eyes, letting his own rare vulnerability show.

"When you became 75% human, I thought this might never happen again." Dante traced Vergil’s jaw with his thumb. "I thought maybe your demon side would just fade out, or that age and humanity would take this away completely. I thought the heats would just stop."

Vergil let out a soft, breathy scoff, but he leaned into the touch anyway.

"You are perpetually dramatic, Dante."

"I'm serious," Dante said softly, a real smile breaking through. "I know it slowed down. I know it only happens once a year now, but every time it hits... I’m just so damn glad. I never want to lose this part of us."

"You couldn't lose it if you tried," Vergil murmured, his eyelids heavy with desire. "My demonic blood is as much a part of me as my humanity. And this…” He tilted his head, instinctively giving his alpha better access; Dante sniffed him instantly, “...is merely a reminder of who you belong to."

"Good." Dante growled, the soft moment vanishing behind a sudden wave of dark, possessive heat.

He leaned in, capturing Vergil’s lips in a slow, deeply demanding kiss that deepened instantly, thick with years of longing. As the desire of the heat flared between them, their raw demonic energy started to bleed through, triggered by the intense friction of their closeness.

Vergil groaned into the kiss as he felt energized while receiving Dante’s raw energy, his fingers gripping Dante's shoulders as his eyes flashed a sharp, glowing demonic light. The faint, crystalline blue scales of his Sin Devil Trigger began to trace along his cheekbones, his pale skin shimmering slightly under the library lights. Beneath the hem of his clothes, the phantom weight of his demon form manifested: a sleek, powerful azure tail slipped free. Moving as if it had a life of its own, the tail slithered up Dante's thigh, coiling tightly around his hip and caressing the lateral side of his torso. It dragged its smooth, heavy length upward against Dante's ribs, a possessive, instinctual limb anchoring his alpha closer, demanding to be held.

But Dante, carrying a heavier strain of demon blood, let his instincts take over more than Vergil. The transformation hit him harder, surging violently under his skin. The whites of his eyes turned a pitch black, his irises burning a fierce, molten red. Elongated, razor-sharp fangs scraped against Vergil's lips, drawing a tiny drop of sweet blood that only made them crave each other more. The skin over Dante's knuckles shifted, turning into dark, jagged armored scales, and his fingernails sharpened into deadly claws. His breath came out in a hot, demonic hiss as his heavy hands roamed freely, mapping the strong lines of Vergil's chest and waist through his blue cotton shirt.

The rough, scaled texture of Dante's demonic hands against him, combined with the tight squeeze of Vergil's own tail around Dante's ribs, drew a quiet, needy sound from Vergil’s throat. Thrilled by the noise, Dante shifted his weight, pressing Vergil down into the sofa cushions as he tore at the buttons of the shirt. Soon, his clawed fingers slid lower, slipping easily under the untucked hem. Dante's burning palm pressed against the scorching, bare skin of Vergil's stomach, tracing his firm muscles as he moved downward, hooking his thumb tight beneath the waistband of his trousers and-...

"Come on, Daddy, hurry up! You're slower than a snail!" a bright, echoing voice shouted from the front foyer.

Dante froze. His clawed hand, still rough with dark scales, went completely still against Vergil's skin. Slowly, painfully, he let his head drop heavily onto Vergil’s shoulder, letting out a long, muffled groan of absolute, soul-crushing defeat.

“They just left… Why are they already back?”

Vergil blinked rapidly, the sudden, loud voice snapping him violently out of his haze. Driven by pure willpower and a sudden spike of parental panic, he shoved Dante back by the shoulders. The blue glow in his eyes quickly vanished and the crystalline armor on his cheekbones smoothed away, but in his rush, he completely forgot about the long azure tail that still slipped free and coiled around Dante's hip. Vergil sat up perfectly straight, aggressively smoothing down his vest, buttoning his collar to hide the flush on his neck, and grabbing his book as if he had been reading it all along.

The thick scent of his heat, however, was impossible to mask. Thank god he knew the girls couldn’t smell it, but if Trish was with them… Fuck.

"I'm going, Eva! Go inside and say hi to your grandads, I'm just locking the van doors!" Nero's muffled voice called back from outside the manor.

A moment later, quick, light footsteps bounded into the library.

Even though they were only seven years old, both girls carried the unmistakable, powerful spark of the Sparda bloodline, though they wore that power in completely different ways. As they ran in, the girls glanced at the faint gray scales still smoothing over Dante's knuckles, and Eva briefly eyed the blue tail still wrapped around his waist, but neither of them paid much mind. Living with a family of hybrids meant a partial shift was just another normal day.

Eva was a total whirlwind, practically vibrating with life as she bounced into the library. She had Kyrie's warm, comforting brown hair in a messy ponytail, but her eyes were a striking, brilliant aquamarine (the dead giveaway of Nero and Dante's shared bloodline). Instead of tight control, her demon heritage came out in wild bursts of chaotic energy. She moved with a blinding speed that human eyes could barely track, leaving nothing but a blur of breathless laughter and pure excitement behind her. She was bright, effortlessly vibrant, and utterly mischievous: a playful little imp who loved breaking the manor's stiffest rules and wrapping everyone around her finger. Whenever Vergil watched her chatter without a care in the world, a quiet, bittersweet wave of nostalgia hit him. Eva always reminded him completely of Dante when he was just a naive little boy, long before the fire and tragedy had forced them to grow up.

Right behind her walked Elizabeth, Dante and Vergil’s youngest child. Her presence immediately calmed the room's chaotic energy, because the contrast between the two girls was wild. Elizabeth had the classic, pristine Sparda silver hair, neatly pinned back without a single strand out of place. Her piercing green eyes, the exact shade of Vergil’s, held a sharp clarity that missed absolutely nothing, quietly taking in her surroundings with a maturity way beyond her seven years. Unlike Eva’s bubbly energy, Elizabeth’s demon heritage felt like a heavy, icy pressure, kept tightly coiled and disciplined inside her small frame. She moved with a quiet, regal grace, every step carrying a natural authority she had completely inherited from Vergil. Dante couldn't help but feel a massive wave of pride every time he looked at her; he absolutely loved that his serious, brilliant little girl was the perfect reflection of the love of his life.

"Grandpa Dante! Grandfather Vergil!" Eva chirped, her entire body practically vibrating with joy. She threw her small hands into the air, her bright eyes flashing enthusiasm. "We went to the clinic and we saw Rodin on the glowing screen! The lady said he's only the size of a little lemon right now, but his heart was going thump-thump-thump so, so fast! Daddy said I'm gonna be the absolute best big sister in the entire wide world!"

Finding a new doctor who didn't pass out at the sight of a demonic energy signature had cost Nero and Kyrie a small fortune, but the specialists they found in the hidden corners of Fortuna were worth every penny. They had even managed an early fetal sexing scan, it’s a boy! That was a piece of news that had instantly sent Nico running to her workshop in a manic frenzy, eager to build high-caliber firearms just so she could engrave the name Rodin into the steel before the kid was even born. [1]

Today's trip, however, had been a strictly family affair. Nero had rolled up to the manor's gates early that morning to pick up Elizabeth, making sure his young sister could go with her niece, Eva, to see the baby's very first glimpse on the monitors. Vergil had actually offered to cut a shortcut straight to the clinic with Yamato, but Nero turned it down, claiming he wanted a classic road trip with the girls. In reality, Dante knew the kid was just using the long drive to bribe Elizabeth with sweets, desperately trying to get the quiet little girl to spill whatever embarrassing house gossip she could about their fathers.

They had slipped out the front doors the moment Vergil’s pheromones started coating the library in that thick, heavy omega haze. Watching their taillights fade down the driveway, Dante had silently prayed for a massive traffic jam or a long ice cream stop, or literally anything that would keep the kids busy until sunset, even if he knew this was just the beginning (it lasted at least six days).

But it had been a long, grueling year since the last one. Twelve months of watching Liz grow up and secretly wishing they could have another kid. Dante didn't just want the wild, intense days of the heat itself; he wanted another baby in the house. Looking at the red flush creeping up Vergil’s neck and feeling his own instincts buzzing, Dante really, really hoped this would be the time it finally worked. He had genuinely believed he had time today...

Foolish hope.

Dante cleared his throat, forcing a fond but slightly strained smile as the last of his dark, jagged scales began to fade back under his skin. His eyes were still adjusting from a fierce, molten red back to their usual blue, but he tried to hide his sheer frustration as he leaned back against the sofa cushions and casually crossed his legs.

“That's great news, kiddo. A little lemon, huh?" He turned his attention to his own daughter, completely missing the dark cloud hovering over her. "Hey there, Liz, my little Princess. Did you have fun at the clinic with them?"

Elizabeth didn't answer right away. She stood near the doorway, clutching a thick, leather-bound book tight against her chest. Her green eyes flicked from Dante’s flushed face to Vergil’s slightly ruffled hair, her lips pressed into a thin, tight line. She looked at Eva's glowing, happy face, then stared down at her own shoes, her quiet mood speaking volumes.

The girls briefly noticed the remaining scales on Dante's hands and the fact that Vergil’s long, azure demon tail was still slipped free, lazily wrapped around Dante's thigh to keep his mate close. But in a family of hybrids, seeing a partial shift was just another normal day, so they didn't think twice about it.

Vergil, still catching his breath and trying to calm his body down, looked over at the two girls. While Dante only saw his daughter being unusually quiet, Vergil’s finely tuned Omega instincts instantly picked up on the sour shift in the room's emotional current.

He noticed how tight Elizabeth was holding her book until her knuckles turned white. He saw the slight, defensive slump of her usually perfect posture. And, most importantly, he saw the heavy envy in her vivid green eyes as Eva kept bouncing on her heels, endlessly talking about her future sibling and the family she was building. His little girl felt completely left behind.

"Elizabeth," Vergil said softly, his voice completely steady now. He ignored Dante's confused glance and gave his daughter a knowing, deeply gentle look. "Come."

Elizabeth hesitated for a fraction of a second before stepping forward. The heavy, chilly aura she usually carried seemed to shrink inward until she looked like any other sad seven-year-old girl. She walked across the grand rug with quiet steps and climbed onto the sofa right next to Vergil.

Ignoring the feverish heat still simmering in his blood, Vergil wrapped a protective, grounding arm around her small shoulders, pulling her close against his side. Elizabeth immediately buried her face in the fine fabric of his vest, her small hands gripping his lapels. She was completely oblivious to her father's tail still tightly curled around Dante's leg, and Vergil was too focused on comforting her to notice it either.

"She has not stopped talking about it since we left the clinic," Elizabeth mumbled into his chest, her voice muffled but thick with frustration. Eva wasn’t even listening; she was still spilling all the details to Dante, totally missing her little aunt’s distress. "That is all she talks about. 'My baby brother', ‘Rodin will be the best little brother ever’."

Vergil rested his chin on top of her neatly pinned white hair, his long fingers gently smoothing her back.

"It is a significant change for her, Elizabeth," he murmured softly, his tone losing its usual sharp edge and turning into the deep, resonant hum of a father. "But I also understand why it is difficult for you to hear. It is natural to feel overlooked, when you’re not the baby of the family anylonger."

“I’m not a baby! I’m a big girl! That’s not it.” she puffed her cheeks as Vergil chucked.

Dante blinked, resting his elbows on his knees as the realization finally hit him. He looked from the oblivious, bouncing Eva to his own daughter hiding against Vergil's chest.

"Wait," Dante said, his voice dropping into a gentle tone. He reached out, playfully tugging a loose strand of Elizabeth's white hair to get her attention. "What this is about, princess? Don’t tell me you're upset because Eva's getting a new sibling?"

Elizabeth turned her head just enough to glare at him.

"I am not upset," she corrected, showing the exact same stubborn pride she inherited from Vergil. "I am just… well…. Eva gets to be a big sister and teach someone how to use a sword. I am just... by myself."

Eva stopped bouncing right then, finally realizing Elizabeth's mood.

“That’s not true, Liz!” she said, crossing her arms. “I’m getting a brother, but you already have one!”

Dante offered a soft, lopsided smile, shifting a little closer.

"Princess, you're forgetting someone pretty important. You've got Nero. He's your brother."

"Dante and Eva are right," Vergil murmured, his hand gently rubbing her arm. "You are far from an only child, Elizabeth."

Elizabeth let out a heavy, incredibly dramatic sigh that was pure Vergil. She pulled back just enough to look at both of them with a flat, completely unimpressed stare.

"That is not the same thing at all," Elizabeth stated matter-of-factly. "Nero is an adult. He is thirty-one years old, he pays taxes, and he complains about pain in his elbow when it rains. He is old!"

Dante snorted, quickly covering his mouth to hide a loud laugh. He felt his chest tighten, his heart turning into a complete puddle right then and there.

Considering the chaotic birth seven years ago, just getting Elizabeth out alive had been a miracle. Since then, they had walked on eggshells, never openly talking about having another kid because Vergil had been too terrified of breaking the fragile peace they’d barely managed to build. But honestly? Dante was done waiting. He had already made up his mind to finally bring it up today.

Seeing that quiet, heavy longing in his little girl's eyes was the final straw. Combined with the sweet, undeniable kick of Vergil’s Omega scent starting to flood the library, Dante was completely helpless against it. His instincts flared up, and a dangerous, stubborn hope took over his brain entirely. He wanted this. He wanted a new baby so bad.

‘No.’

The mental slam was so sharp it almost made Dante flinch. The word cut through his thoughts like a gunshot, echoing loud and clear inside his head. Dante snapped his gaze up, meeting Vergil’s eyes only to find a stone-cold, fierce glare that told him, without a single doubt, that this was entirely out of the question.

Instead of backing down, Dante studied Vergil, carefully checking his twin's face. Ever since Vergil had integrated his human and demon halves, his biology had adjusted. He had aged a bit over the years, but for the past three years, his physical aging had completely stopped. Before, the sheer demonic power from the Qliphoth fruit had kept Vergil looking deceptively younger than Dante. Now, he physically looked the exact age Dante had been seven years ago. Dante himself had also completely paused in his own aging process after the “almost miscarige” incident.

In a way, Dante had always expected this shift. Legend whispered that Sparda’s human form had matured to a certain point, somewhere between his mid-thirties and early fortunes, and simply stayed there, untouched by time for two thousand years. It stood to reason they would inherit a similar trait, enjoying several more decades or even centuries in this flawless physical prime before their human mortality eventually caught up to them. Pure demons never died of old age, but they were hybrids and, for hybrid, everything is a mistery.

What this truly meant was that Vergil was more than capable of bearing cubs, as many babies as they wanted, at least for now and, well, there were absolutely no biological reasons to deny it. The heats still arrived, even if they only happened once a year now.

Furthermore, Vergil had carried Elizabeth almost entirely while sustaining this matured, more human form. Granted, that pregnancy had been an absolute nightmare of severe morning sickness, wild emotional waves, and utterly bizarre dietary cravings; Dante still remembered the moment Vergil had deadpanned a demand for a fresh piece of the Qliphoth fruit (of course he didn’t get it). There had been a brief period of mild postpartum depression to deal with afterward as well, but ultimately, everything had turned out perfectly. Vergil's body was undeniably capable of making healthy, beautiful, and profoundly powerful cubs.

'Still, no.' Vergil’s mental voice cut in again, proving he was tracking the exact path of Dante's thoughts.

Dante shot back a pleading, puppy-dog look, silently fighting his brother’s stubbornness. But before Dante could say any of those heavy thoughts aloud, the heavy thud of leather boots echoed down the hallway.

"Hey, sorry about the wait, the damn key got stuck in the ignition again and-…"

Nero filled the library doorway, casually tossing his keys into the air. In his early thirties, the kid wasn't really a kid anymore: he had completely broadened out, his shoulders heavy and steady, looking every bit the hardened, seasoned devil hunter he was paid to be. But right alongside that rough Sparda edge, there was a permanent, exhausted fondness etched into his face (the unmistakable look of a man who spent his nights killing monsters and his days trying to outrun a chaotic seven-year-old).

He caught the keys in his hand, stepped fully into the room, and abruptly froze.

Nero was completely blind to his father's Omega heat pheromones, but his sharp demonic senses and seasoned hunter instincts didn't need a scent to read the room perfectly. He froze instantly because the physical demonic traits in the room were glaringly obvious. His eyes darted from Dante's rough, fading scales and the lingering dark tint in his eyes, straight over to Vergil’s heavily flushed face and ruffled hair. And then his jaw nearly dropped as he saw Vergil's long, azure demon tail still fully manifested, lazily coiled tight around Dante's leg to claim his mate. To top it off, Dante’s Alpha pheromones were radiating through the enclosed space in a loud, protective roar of possessive overdrive.

A look of sheer, unadulterated exhaustion washed over Nero's face, and he slowly pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Oh, for the love of…," Nero groaned loudly. "Seriously? In the middle of the afternoon? With the front doors unlocked? Are you two out of your minds?"

"We were just reading, kid," Dante shot back, quickly hiding his previous emotions with a classic, infuriating grin. He leaned back against the sofa, crossing his arms.

"Yeah, reading with your craws, maybe," Nero muttered, giving them a flat, thoroughly unimpressed stare. "Fix your vest, Vergil, your buttons are completely torn and your tail is showing. And Dante, seriously, tone down the alpha static before you trip the manor's circuit breakers."

Hearing Nero point it out, Vergil blinked and finally looked down at his waist. His green eyes widened in a rare flash of embarrassment as he realized his azure tail had been out the entire time. With a sharp flick of annoyance, he instantly forced the tail to vanish back into thin air. He quickly pulled the fabric of his vest together over his ruined buttons, clearing his throat to regain his dignity.

Eva, entirely unbothered by the heavy atmosphere and completely oblivious to the adult tension, ran over and grabbed Nero’s hand.

"Dad! Liz is sad because she wants a little lemon baby too!"

Nero choked on a breath, his eyes widening. He looked down at Eva, then to Liz, and finally raised his gaze to Dante and Vergil.

Vergil, whose flush had finally started to fade, suddenly turned a brilliant, violent shade of crimson. He pulled Elizabeth a little closer, refusing to meet his son's eyes. Dante, however, simply stared at Nero, a slow, incredibly soft smile spreading across his face as he let the words hang in the air.

"Well," Dante murmured, his voice dropping into a smooth, dangerous rumble. “Maybe we should talk about planting a lemon tree of our own, huh?"

Vergil’s breath hitched, his grip on Elizabeth’s shoulder turning into a death-grip. "Dante..." he hissed, a warning that was about as effective as a paper umbrella in a thunderstorm.

"Just putting it out there," Dante chuckled, giving Vergil’s knee a playful, lingering squeeze that definitely wasn't ‘just reading’ material.

Nero looked like he was suffering from a critical system failure. His mouth opened and closed, producing only a faint, pained wheezing sound.

"I am going to pretend I did not hear or see that," Nero announced, his voice vibrating with the sheer effort of keeping his sanity. "I’m taking these two to Fortuna. I am going to take them and feed them enough sugar for a whole week, and I am going to aggressively ignore the fact that my dad is currently radiating 'Alpha' pheromones like a radioactive beacon while my father looks like he’s ready to murder someone.”

Eva giggled, completely oblivious, swinging Nero's arm like a pendulum. But Elizabeth? She looked up, her green eyes sparkling with hopeful realization. Her mood swing was so fast it gave everyone whiplash.

"A lemon tree?" Elizabeth whispered to Dante, looking like she’d just been handed the keys to the kingdom. "Truly? You mean it, daddy?"

Vergil cleared his throat, a sound that landed somewhere between a cough and a growl. He didn't dare look at Nero, whose judgment was practically a physical weight in the room. He focused on his daughter’s hopeful face instead.

"Your father is... making dramatic leaps of logic," Vergil managed, his voice strained as he patted Elizabeth's hair. "However, it is a subject for adults to talk about."

Dante’s grin basically threatened to swallow his ears. He was radiating so much smug victory that Nero looked like he was about to spontaneously combust. "You hear that, Princess? It's officially on the table," Dante winked. "Now, why don't you go with your grumpy big brother so your pops and I can get back to our... research?"

"Research. Right," Nero scoffed, his sarcasm so thick you could cut it with a sword. He knew exactly what kind of "research" involved the library starting to smell like a bouquet of sweet Omega pheromones. He grabbed Eva by the shoulder and jerked his chin at his little sister. "Come on, sis. Pajama party at our place for a whole week. Let's go."

Elizabeth looked at him, dead serious.

"Why?"

"What, you don't want to?"

"Am I allowed to?" she asked, eyeing her fathers for the final verdict.

"Yeah, you're allowed! Go! Run!" Dante practically shoved them out the door with his enthusiasm.

Elizabeth didn't move.

"But... why?"

Nero groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose so hard it looked like he was trying to rearrange his bone structure.

"Because I’m being a saint, Liz! Let’s go!"

Elizabeth looked at Nero’s pained expression, then at Dante’s predatory grin, and decided to quit while she was ahead.

"Hmm... okay."

The sorrow that was clung to her vanished, replaced by a bouncy, mischievous energy. She hopped off the sofa, smoothed her dress with absurdly formal precision, and shot them both a beaming, lethal smile.

"Don't lose your place in your book, Dad!" she teased, her eyes flashing with a spark that was 100% Dante. She marched out with Nero and Eva like she was leading an army.

"For fuck's sake... Lord give me strength," Nero muttered as he practically sprinted down the hall, slamming the mahogany doors shut with a definitive click.

Silence slammed back into the library, but it was electric. The scent of Omega heat was practically a physical fog now, and the "door to the future" Dante had mentioned felt very, very open.

Dante let out a long, satisfied breath and leaned in, resting his forehead against Vergil’s.

"So," Dante whispered, his voice dropping into that dark, possessive frequency that made Vergil’s skin tingle. "A subject for adults to talk about, huh?"

Vergil closed his eyes, leaning into the touch with a quiet, defeated sigh. The heat was already clouding his thoughts, the brief, annoying interruption of fatherhood vanishing the moment Dante was back in his space.

"You are an absolute menace, little brother." Vergil breathed.

Dante didn’t waste a single second. He closed the distance between them, crowding Vergil against the deep leather sofa. His hands came up, raw and heavy, gripping the front of Vergil’s blue shirt to pull him flush against his chest. He inhaled sharply, burying his face in the crook of Vergil’s neck, completely intoxicated by the rich, syrupy scent that made his entire soul roar with a feral, possessive urge.

But Vergil wasn't about to just fall apart, no sir. Even with his breath coming in ragged, shallow gasps and his pale cheeks flushed a deep, feverish crimson, his stubborn pride flared. He planted his palms firmly against Dante’s broad chest, shoving him back just enough to create a few inches of space, his grip tightening into the fabric of Dante’s red coat.

"Cease your pacing, Dante," Vergil breathed, his voice strained but maintaining that sharp, haughty precision. "Do not presume that a momentary lapse in my biology equates to total compliance. I meant what I said before, and the answer is ‘no’."

Dante let out a low, rough chuckle, his eyes already beginning to lose their human blue, bleeding into a fierce, molten red surrounded by pitch black.

"Come on, Verg. Your body is practically screaming a completely different story. You're shaking."

"A physical reaction to the heat is entirely independent of my judgment," Vergil retorted, glaring straight into Dante’s demonic eyes, refusing to look away or back down. "Elizabeth’s birth was a profound strain. I spent months stripped of my usual fortitude, vulnerable, subject to the most absurd human frailties. To intentionally invite that chaotic imbalance into our lives again is fundamentally illogical now that we finally have a routine."

"Logic has nothing to do with this, and you know it," Dante growled softly, leaning his weight forward, deliberately pressing his groin against Vergil’s thigh, letting him feel the solid, unyielding heat of his own arousal. "You’re hiding behind big words because you’re scared. But look at us, Vergil! Look around you! We aren't those two broken kids anymore, there isn’t a single thing in the underworld or the human world that can even think about touching our family."

Dante’s hands slid down from Vergil's shirt, his fingers expanding as dark, jagged armored scales began to creep over his knuckles, an unmistakable mark of his partial devil trigger responding to the thick alpha static in the air. He slid his rough, textured palms under the hem of Vergil's untucked shirt, pressing his burning skin directly against the smooth, tight muscles of Vergil’s bare stomach.

Vergil let out a sharp, involuntary gasp at the contact, his hips twitching instinctively against Dante's weight. The intense, explicit friction of Dante’s scaled hands against his sensitive skin sent a violent jolt of pleasure straight up his spine. In response, Vergil’s own demonic blood surged wildly. Beautiful, crystalline blue scales began to trace along his cheekbones, shimmering under the library lights, and his piercing green eyes flared with a brilliant, sapphire glow. Beneath his clothes, his long, sleek azure tail snapped into reality, lashing out before coiling tightly around Dante's hip, dragging his brother heavily, ruthlessly down onto him.

"It is not merely about fear," Vergil rasped, his fingers clawing into Dante’s shoulders as his head fell back against the cushions, though his tone remained fiercely defiant. "The vulnerability is... unacceptable. To be dependent on you to such an extent again is-..."

"You're not dependent on me, you idiot, we're partners!" Dante interrupted, his voice dropping into a deep, velvety frequency that resonated right through Vergil's chest. He leaned down, his elongated fangs lightly scraping against Vergil's trembling lips, teasing him, tasting the heat radiating from him. "I want to be your shield, babe. I want to watch you carry my cub in a house that is completely safe. I want to give Elizabeth a sibling so she doesn't feel like she's standing on the outside looking in."

Vergil’s breath hitched, his chest heaving as Dante’s words struck exactly where his defenses were weakest. His omega instincts hummed in deep, powerful agreement, desperately craving the legacy Dante was offering. Dante's hands moved higher, mapping the firm lines of Vergil’s chest, his thumbs teasing his nipples through the fabric until Vergil groaned out loud, a wet, explicitly needy sound that completely shattered the remaining distance between them.

Vergil stopped fighting. He arched his spine, dragging Dante down by the coat, and captured his mouth in a deeply demanding kiss. It was frantic and wild, their tongues tangling with a desperate friction that tasted of heat and raw power. Dante’s hands grew bolder, sliding down to grip Vergil’s hips, his sharp claws digging just enough to leave faint marks, claiming him with absolute authority. Vergil writhed beneath him, his azure tail sliding up Dante’s torso, caressing his ribs and pulling him closer, demanding to be completely consumed by the madness of their sex.

The physical manifestation of their energy crackled through the library, the air thick with the scent of intoxicating musk. Dante dragged his lips away from Vergil’s mouth, panting heavily, his chest rising and falling as he looked down at his beautiful, completely unraveled, yet fiercely proud twin.

With trembling, scaled fingers, Dante reached into the pocket of his jeans. He pulled out a small, square silver foil packet, holding it up between their faces.

"But I told you I’d never force you into anything," Dante panted, his voice a harsh, strained whisper, giving Vergil one genuine, final moment of control. "We can take the edge off right now and keep it safe. No baby and no risk, if you’re not completely sure. It's your call, my love."

Vergil stared at the small silver packet, his emerald eyes flashing in the dim light. His chest rose and fell in rapid succession as he looked from the condom back to Dante's molten red eyes. He could feel the absolute sincerity in his brother's feelings, Dante was willing to sacrifice his deepest desire just to keep him comfortable.

A slow, devastatingly arrogant smirk curled onto Vergil’s swollen lips. His reluctance melted away, replaced by a fierce, explicit certainty.

He didn't say a single word. He didn't even lift his hands from Dante's shoulders. Instead, with a sudden, blindingly fast flick of his will, the heavy azure tail wrapped around Dante’s waist uncoiled like a striking viper. The razor-sharp, spade-like tip of the demonic tail darted upward, slamming directly into the center of the silver packet in Dante's hand. The sharp point pierced straight through the foil, utterly destroying the protection inside. With a casual, disdainful flick of his tail, Vergil sent the shredded, useless packet flying across the library, where it vanished into the dark shadows across the room.

Vergil shifted his hips hard, grinding his lower body up against Dante’s with explicit, unyielding intent, his now demonic eyes locking onto his alpha's with absolute, commanding authority.

"Do not ever insult me with such trivialities again." Vergil breathed, his voice dripping with dark, sensual dominance as he hauled Dante back down by his collar. "Fill me, Alpha."

… The End…

[1] The name "Rodin" was chosen because it was Nero's original name during the early brainstorming phase of Devil May Cry 4, according to Capcom.

As for "Elizabeth," it just feels like exactly the kind of classic, elegant name Vergil would choose for his daughter. And, let's be honest, Dante always ends up going along with whatever Vergil decides, even if he complains about it a little first. LOL!

End notes:

Hey, everyone!

I went back and forth on whether I should post this epilogue, since it doesn't really add much to the main story. But I couldn't resist giving the girls at least one little scene... so here it is!

I've also been wanting to write a sex scene with Dante and Vergil (while on heat) for a while now (it's been ages!), and I'd love to set it in the Lineage universe. I haven't written it yet, but it might be coming soon! If it does, it'll be a standalone one-shot rather than an update to Lineage.

So if you'd like to read it, make sure to follow my profile! I won't be updating this fic, so if you're only subscribed to Lineage, AO3 won't notify you.

And one last time: thank you all so, so much for all the love you've shown this story from beginning to end. I hope I can keep writing all the ideas I have rattling around in my head. Having such sweet, enthusiastic readers has honestly been an absolute joy.

Don't forget to comment, cuties! I would love to know your opinions about the epilogue !

Love you guys!!
