Chapter Text
Harlow adjusted his tie, unlike his usual day to day attire of wearing a doctor’s coat and everything else that screamed “I got forced to do this career when I was 5”.
He was wearing a suit- his good suit. Shades of blue.
Truth is.
He’s been planning this date for months.
It’s his and Ron’s first years anniversary so he gotten advice from the staff-
—
The staff all sat in the office while waiting for the shift to end- either gossiping or sleeping under the desk or on top of chairs like how Latino kids do during a long party.
“I saw a bit about my sister’s divorce and walked right out I’m not even kidding. I told her so many times she was in a horrible relationship but..”
Security guard’s ear twitched ramble went on while head nurse nodded, her cat ears twitching occasionally.
Nurse’s dog tail wagged each time she laughed due to paramedic’s ramble about how he got the scar on his hand.
The interns were playing and hopping around cameras while security guard told them and scolded them to leave the cameras alone.
The secretary- the purple one- was there sitting at desk number one. His eyes tired from the constant strain as his lamb tail twitched each time he woke himself up.
The other secretary- blue one- was near the desk. Bunny ears twitching each time security guard got mad at the interns and raised his voice.
That was before Dr. Harlow came in.
His shoes clicking on the floor as only the blue secretary seemed to notice him.
Dr. Harlow was a man to be taken seriously when he walked into a room.
So of course blue secretary kept trying to get everyone to wake up or focus.
…
Like it even worked.
Dr. Harlow saw the whole office in such chaos. Well contained chaos.
He cleared his throat as everyone looked at the front.
“..anyways..seems like it had been a long shift…safe to say I’m proud of the good work you’ve done so- bonuses for you all-“
“What do you want Bro.” Paramedic said, looking at his brother with frown.
Dr. Harlow’s deer ear twitched.
“This is why your adopted..”
“What.”
“What?- anyways. I need help…” dr. Harlow said, clearing his throat.
“Just spit it out. I’m ready to head home already.” Head nurse said.
“I need help to…figure out an anniversary date…”
Everyone froze.
“Oh oh! Don’t be yourself- that’s one thing.” Surgeon said, patting Harlow on the shoulders.
“Surgeon! He’s looking for advice…not criticism..” nurse said.
“Yeah. Constructive criticism in the nicest way possible.” Paramedic said.
“Well I don’t have any ideas…but just take him out on a date.” Head nurse said.
“Star…gazing..?” Pink intern said.
“Silence everyone. Maybe do what makes you and him happy, Doctor. He’d definitely love any idea.” Psychologist said, brushing his mustache.
“Or hate it.”
“PARAMEDIC.”
“Oh shit- intern get your camera!”

Ron had always wanted to head to that one restaurant they always passed by after days of long work.
So a month before? Harlow booked a reservation.
Harlow and Ron always went star gazing when they were a bit younger.
So Harlow tried to find some short distance park for them to do so.
And as always- they had to finish it off with cuddling.
Dr. Harlow finished buttoning up his vest suit.
Perfect.
He made sure to do something before going to this date..couldn’t just let his mask off knowing it could reveal something more.. terrifying
Harlow walked downstairs waiting for Ron’s arrival.
Surely Ron would be here.
Before Harlow could thinking of a situation of where Ron did come home way too late- the door opened.
Ron came in.
His bunny ears twitching before he looked up and saw his husband.
“Woah…okay what are you getting up to..?” Ron said, skeptical.
“Do you…remember what uhm- day it is?” Dr. Harlow said, coughing to the side to get his nervousness out of him.
“National Canadian day?” Ron said.
Harlow froze.
“I’m messing with you- it’s our 1st anniversary, hon.” Ron walked up to Harlow scooting closer before they kissed.
Harlow broke the kiss.
“I am very happy for today- which is why I decided to make a reservation to that restaurant you always pointed out.” Harlow said, smiling a bit.
“Oh you sap. Knowing exactly what I want…” Ron smiled, chucking a bit while his bunny tail wagged.
“Nonsense. I just wanted to do something special…” Dr. Harlow looked away, but his deer tail always told you a different story.
“I’m all for that.” Ron said, kissing Harlow's hand while also going up and kissing his cheek.
“You know if you keep doing that I feel like I might pass out.” Dr. Harlow mumbled.
“Oh? I would be very determined to make sure that happened…but again I’m not late for a reservation ever. So I'll go change and we’ll head there.” Ron said, turning away and walking up stairs to change.
Dr. Harlow’s phone buzzed as a group chat message showed.
‘YOOO YOU GOT THIS LITTLE BROOO!’
‘I’m betting you faint.’
‘Good luck.’
One. He’s deducting everyone’s paychecks.
Two. How did they get his number?
——-
When Ron finally finished combing over his hair and getting ready- the two set out in their car.
“Petty nice car ,Harlow.”
“You’ve seen it more times them enough, Ron.”
“I know- but usually I’m asleep when you pick me up.”
“Fair.”
Dr. Harlow kept steady on the wheel as Ron kept talking. Not about just one thing however, many things.
Honestly, it was nice.
The car stopped as its reached its destination.
The restaurant lights shined brightly as the two got out of the car. The worker outside of the restaurant brightened when she saw the two, giving them both a kind smile.
“Reservation name?” The dog eared lady asked, her smile never faltering.
“Dr. Harlow.”
“Alright! Right this way sirs!” She grabbed two menus and walked all the way to their reserved table.
As Ron and Harlow took their seat at the booth, the lady left and left the rest of the work to the waiter.
“Drinks?”
“I'll have water.” Ron answered.
“I'll have that too.” Harlow said after.
“Alright! Just let me know when you find
Ron took the menu first, Harlow observed Ron before taking it as well.
“It's been so long since we've been able to have a finner date ya know..?” Ron said, pushing his glasses up.
“You could say that.” Dr. Harlow said, looking over the menu.
The silence was quiet.
Anyone could say ‘thats akward’ or ‘they definitely don't like eachother.’
Sometimes it just the quiet private moments that matter more to the both of them.
Simple, plain- CALM. Heavy on calm.
After the waiter came around and asked them for their meals.
Both of them said their own meals as the waiter wrote them down and moved fast to the kitchen.
Hopefully this was good food.
———-
After the restaurant- Ron and Harlow walked outside to the nearest park.
the two held hands as Harlow directly looked at Ron a few times. Sometimes they would accidentally make eye contact.
They didn’t mind.
“Soo…what do you have in mind Harlow?”
“Just a place. A place I know you’ll love.”
Ron didn’t even get to respond before Harlow stopped, Ron looked up because that where his husband was looking up to and-
Stars.
Star gazing.
Ron stared at the sky as Harlow looked at him.
It felt like Ron’s eyes were the sky itself.
Maybe that was cheesy but- Ron looked handsome. His eyes were always lovely to stare at- is his heart rate accelerating as fast as Harlow’s is?!
Harlow kept thinking and thinking- but he was snapped out of his thoughts once Ron pushed him onto the ground and then fell on the grass and layed beside him.
Harlow scooted closer to his husband nuzzling a bit into his blue fur.
“…thanks for…this date ya know…” Ron looked at Dr. Harlow a bit.
“I thought you deserved it. But now I’m thinking we should’ve went on a date like this months ago.” Harlow responded, kissing Ron’s forehead.
Ron turned to Harlow and two red over him, Harlow was about to spike a question before Ron kissed him.
It wasn’t harsh- nor rushed but…soft.
Harlow leaned into the kiss as he hugged Ron close.
Before it went longer- Ron pulled back and landed onto Harlow’s chest.
“I love you.”
“I love you more.”
“Don’t start this again Harlow- you know you can’t win.” Ron looked up at him with a knowing look.
“I’ll prove to you I will. Prepare your heart, dear Ron.” Dr. Harlow said, immediately turning around him and Ron to where he was towering over Ron instead of Ron towering over him.
The moment went on as the two kissed and kept fighting for the last ‘I love you more than this or that!’
It was useless anyways..
They both knew they loved each other the fullest.

The ride home was still filled him a bit of the energy from the park.
“You knowww…if you really did love me more you’d do your sides more often then leaving them inside the sink right?”
“One time.”
“One time my ass.
The two chuckled before finally stopping at their shared house.
The front door opened as they threw their coats onto the coat rack.
“I think it’s better if we get into pjs quick.”
“Would make for a nice end to the day right?”
“Yeah…I’ll hop in the shower then you.” Ron said, walking upstairs.
Harlow smiled when Ron disappeared- it wasn’t his serious smile more like a goofy one that showed how much Ron was starting to really affect him.
About one hour later, the two were now in bed as the click clack of Ron’s computer was heard while Dr. Harlow read a book that he always did read during the nice pre-bed time rituals.
“Tax return on wensday next week..I gotta..” Ron was cut off by his own yawn as his body stretched and shook with his yawn.
“Love. It’s time to head to sleep.”
“I told the boss that…I wouldn’t be late on these. You know how he gets…”
Harlow closed Ron’s computer as he put it on his own nightstand.
“Too bad. Now I think it-“
Dr. Harlow was interrupted by Ron pushing him on to the bed and turning off Harlow's night light and tossing his book.
“You go to sleep then I do too, Harlow.”
“Fine.. fine. But I get to choose what I eat tomorrow then.”
“You’re just gonna run on coffee for the entire day so- no.”
Both of them chuckled before kissing eachother good night.
“Good night, love.”
“Good night…love you…so much…” Ron said mumbling in his sleep.
The two drifted to sleep still hugging.
Still together.
Still happy.

BOUNUS!
“Couch now.” Ron said.
“That's unfair. It's only one time I-“
“15 times Harlow. It is not that hard to clean the cup.”
“I didn’t-“
“Nope.”
Dr. Harlow narrowed his eyes before laying on the couch. Ron left the room and slept in their shared room.
Traitor.
