Life is Like a Hurricane!

Chapter 9: Empire (Songfic)

Summary:

On the trend of characters turning evil, what if our favorite money loving triplet crossed the line? There's a song called "Empire" I think the original song is credited to Beth Crowley. Here's a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8CZO3xA8jU

Set roughly five years after the series, Louie has taken control of Duckburg and his family, desperate to save Scrooge, their home and the green triplet from himself rush into the bin in one last attempt to have their happy ending.

But Louie won't make it easy...

Chapter Text

The doors to office at the bin burst open, several ducks rushing inside to see Scrooge’s chair tilted back facing them. The group stopped dead in their tracks, Dewey looking ahead with a worried expression and Huey looked on the verge of letting his Duke side come out to play. His eyes were going red and he gripped his hands into fists until he felt a hand on one fist and looked over to see his Uncle Donald shaking his head.

“Louie?” Della tentatively asked, revealing herself on the other side of her boys and Webby, also mirroring Dewey’s expression with one arm held out towards the chair as the sudden sound of clinking metal echoed through the dark room. A hand had placed a gold coin on the table behind him and slowly the chair turned to reveal the youngest triplet. His eyes had a tinge of green around it, mostly unnoticeable to those around him but the look in them could easily kill on sight if he so chose.

“Louie where’s Uncle Scrooge?” Webby asked him, taking a step closer towards her once friend.

Louie’s expression didn’t change, his glower deepening and hand resting upon a button at the desk.

He pushed it.

“Webby look out!” Della quickly pushed her out of the way as several trap doors opened in the walls and floor around them and several purple saws and sharp objects emerged.

Yelping, Dewey managed to dodge a saw and glared over at his brother. “Hey! What the hell Louie?!” thankfully years of practice with Webby and Beakley had prepared the teens for dangerous situations like these and Huey found himself jumping over the saws and landing in front of the desk his brother was comfortably sitting at, his own glare straining his face as he looked his brother in the eyes.

A lazy smirk appeared on Louie’s face. “Hey bro, like the welcoming committee?”

“Louie, stop this.” Huey warned. Not pleaded, things had long since spiraled beyond that. Duckburg was in chaos, Scrooge was missing, Violet and Lena were injured and this pain was all caused by his little brother.

“Sorry bro, I don’t think I will.” Was Louie’s answer as he threw something at the group. It resembled a bomb of some kind.

Webby’s eyes widened. “Look out-“ she barely got the words out before it exploded, sending a gel like substance at them all and instantly his entire family was trapped. Louie couldn’t help but let his lazy grin spread, becoming more maniacal.

“Louie!” Della scolded. “Let us go right now!”

Louie’s smile faded and he slowly approached his mom as she was struggling with the gel-glue like substance pinned to the ground with a huge glob of it covering her. “Why?” he asked, in almost an innocent tone. “You’re trying to stop me. I won’t let you take this away from me.”

“This isn’t right.” Webby’s voice echoed from the right of him. His eyes shifted to hers. “You have to know that.”

Louie didn’t answer her.

“Why are you even doing this?!” Dewey growled, struggling with all his strength to escape.

Louie eyed his family, pursing his beak and hands clasped behind his back. He turned his back to them and approached one of the window panes of Scrooge’s office that looked down upon the city of Duckburg. Louie’s eyes scanned the horizon, as the sun was setting and the lightning in the room, which was having once an almost orange hue was fading to the purple of the saws around them. An eerie melody echoed within the room as Louie opened his beak, the words fresh on his tongue.

I can hear the whispers in my sleep

The voices telling me this should be mine.” He pressed a fist against the glass and turned back to his family.

You, you claim you trust me.” He sang, eyeing them all. Huey looked the most enraged.

You think I don't see the doubt behind your eyes.” He said, passing by Webby and who closed her eyes, looking away from him.

“I'm gonna build me an empire.” He sang louder, arms raised on either side and then he looked at them, dropping his arms.

And it's lonely at the top…” his words wobbled at this, he almost…sounded sad.

But madness and greatness can both share a face

And nobody will ever convince me to stop.” He sang, his voice stronger and swiped an arm at them, turning away.

He approached the painting of Scrooge.

It's my destiny

I was born to play this game.” He smirked, putting a hand against the frame and green flames emerged from his hand, quickly catching the painting on fire and burning it to ash.

So fear me or love me

It's all the same.” He sang as he turned to face them once more.

Try to find a chain that I won't break

A price I wouldn't pay for what I want.” He sang, looking to Donald with a fierce determined expression.

So you can call me calculating.” Huey glared up at his smug brother as he walked past him.

You can say I've lost my mind.” As he passed Dewey the blue triplet frowned.

You can throw me to the wolves

I'll be alright.” Louie sang, assured, he jumped onto the desk, spinning around to address them once more.

I'm gonna build me an empire

And it's lonely at the top.” He smiled, looking up as if imaging it.

But madness and greatness can both share a face

And nobody will ever convince me to stop.” He jumped down, walking over to the door of the money bin.

It's my destiny

I was born to play this game

So fear me or love me

It's all the same.” He opened the bin and walked inside, glancing down at the money with a fond smile. Then his eyes shifted to Scrooge who was nearly encased in gold, trapped within the thing he loved most and his eyes turned dark.

Just one word I'll let the world burn..” He sang to his Uncle who looked at Louie, part shocked and part worried.

Just one word I'll let the world burn.” His words held no lie as he turned from Scrooge, which is what made the misers blood run cold.

I'm gonna build me an empire

And it's lonely at the top.” He sang this more to himself to the others as he walked back into the room.

But madness and greatness can both share a face

And nobody will ever convince me to stop.” He reached the desk, grabbing his phone and pushing a couple buttons on it.

It's my destiny

I was born to play this game.” He glanced back to his family as he approached the window once more, staring down as his plan was coming together.

So fear me or love me

It's all the same.” As darkness entombed the city, the logo on the money bin fell to the ground and Louie grinned.

Huey’s expression melted from anger to despair as he saw how far his brother had fallen.

Sounds of chaos could be heard echoing from the city below as he turned to his family, his shadow growing as he approached them and each looking upon Louie as a stranger, no longer was this the Louie they knew.

So fear me or love me

It's all the same.” Louie pressed a button on his phone with a smirk.

The entire room went black.

Notes:

I wanted to let you all know I am sorry I haven't updated any of my other fanfics as due to current real life situations and a strange writers block it's been difficult for me to focus on them as of late. As you see I am still writing, it's just I haven't gotten the inspiration yet to really get into writing a few scenes and I'm finding my other scenes seem a bit out of character. So I've been rewriting a bit so sorry for delays. I will post more chapters soon though. Thanks for being patient with me!

Notes:

I'm sorry this one was so short. I will have longer ones in the future I promise ^^;;;;
