Chapter Text
The next day, they were ushered to another place to prepare for the games. The rooms were made of stone bricks, with thee occasional iron block and birch detailing, and teams were everywhere.

ARMOURBLADE
“Hello and welcome to the next day of the games!” Hadrian’s voice boomed over the loudspeakers, “and, it’s going to be a hot one!”
“Which means it’s going to be absolutely lethal,” Jesse muttered.
“Oh, really? Then the voices are going to be satisfied today. I’m going to kill so many people.”
HE HEARS OUR DEMANDS!
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD
KILL THEM ALL
MURDER AND ARSON POGGERS
“Woo! Yes it is, Hadrian! And how are our teams looking, Otto?” Melvia cheered.
“Well, Melvia— purple, yellow, and green are still making a strong showing, but after yesterday’s match in Spleef, I’m afraid to say that the Red Team... has been completely eliminated.”
“Ohh. I guess it’s back to the mines for them, haha!”
“And after that,” he started pacing around, “I’m going to beat the daylights out of Hadrian and Melvia for this shit.”
“And of course, about our plucky newcomers...”
“Otto... shut up— we don’t need to hear about them. Well, for everyone else... don’t forget to be like Tim out there!”
Petra snorted. “Wonder how this is going to go.”
“Oh, it’s easy. It’s going to be an easy win, because it’s definitely going to be something from Hypixel, and Lukas and Ivor will sit back there, hoping for the best,” Techno said matter-of-factly.
Jesse squinted at him. “Why are you so confident?”
Because I lived in Hypixel for years before moving to the Dream SMP and know the Admin personally. “Because I’m the Blade.”
“Alright competitors... the game is almost upon us— time to head to the starting line!” Hadrian commanded over the speakers.
“Starting line, huh?” Jesse muttered. “Great, it’s gonna be an obstacle race,” he deduced, “speed is going to be an advantage. Luckily, speed is something I have,” he said, straightening his Netherite crown, “we’ve got this, 100%.”
“Got this, huh?” Hadrian had appeared in the doorway. “Boom! Surprise locker room visit! How we doing, everybody?”
“It’s Hadrian!” one of yellow team’s members whispered fearfully. Huh, these sure were noobs.
“And here are the newcomers that everyone’s been talking about since their, heh, explosive debut in Spleef.”
He turned to them. “Tell me champ, what’s on your mind as you approach the next challenge?”
“Oh, just positivity and confidence,” Techno answered, “we’re going to win.”
“Ooh. In the zone, huh? That’s excellent, that’s excellent. Well, I hope you can manage to hang on to that optimism when the heat is on out there.” He looked around, and everyone else shrank under his glare.
“I admire your confidence. But I must ask... what makes you think you can win out there when so many others have failed, huh?”
I'm the literal god of war and combat. “I’m good at fighting and running.”
“Hm. But remember, two members of your team have already been eliminated—“
This will just be MCU, but easier, then. “I’m used to playing tournaments with a player down to make it fair. Three players are more than enough to win this, even if you send everyone else after us.”
“Yes. Perhaps we should get on with this.” He turned and walked off, giggling to himself.
He watched the man go carefully, then turned back to them. “Yup, he’s going to send everyone and everything after us,” he confirmed, “that laugh says it all.”
“Were you telling the truth abut winning tournaments?” Jesse asked.
“Yeah. I played in a tournament called MCU. It was a PVP competition with respawning, and my team was a player down. So me and my team swept the entire map, got 119 kills out of the 300 players, and won. It was beautiful. I don’t know if you’re as skilled as Calvin and Nestor, though.”
They were definitely not, not even remotely close, but the other players were also stupid as them.
“Oh.”
Footsteps sounded behind them.
“Guys. Good luck out there,” Em said, smiling. “I’m sure you’ll be great, but... well, everyone could always use a little dose of luck, right?”
Jesse smiled. “Aw, thanks. Glad to see you’re finally coming around.”
“Well, I was thinking about how you guys handled Spleef, and then he made that deal with the Old Builders and I thought, an enemy of my enemy is my friend.”
“Woah. That means Em wants to be, like, friends with you guys,” Nell exclaimed.
“Em might be up to something,” Petra muttered to them.
“So, uh, yeah. How about we work together on this?” Em suggested.
Yeah, up to something.
Techno shrugged.
Em nodded, and leaned in. “In the middle of the race is a part with tons of gladiators... that’s when we should all team up. Defeat them, then race to the finish. Well?”
“Mm... nah. We’re good, thanks.”
“Fine. Do what you want. See ya at gladiator junction.”
“Competitors! To the starting line!” Hadrian ordered. The people all started filing out of the room. “C’mon.”
They followed their lead. “We don’t need them, they’ll just hold us back!” Petra exclaimed.
“Yeah. It’s already hard enough to carry two people, not to mention four. Those gladiators are going down,” he murmured.
Petra nodded. “It’s going to involve a lot of punching.” “And kicking. Give em all you got!” Jesse yelled.
“I’ve been waiting all day for you to say that,” Techno grinned, “oh, we’re going to do so much violence.”
WE’RE THE VOICES IN YOUR HEAD, GONNA SCREAM AND SHOUT—
WE WANT THEM DEAD
WE WANT THEM DEAD
WE WANT THEM DEAD
GONNA TURN YOUR VISION RED
THE BATTLE NEVER ENDS
“Chat, you don’t need to demand today, I was already planning on it.”
They reached the starting line, where all the other teams were warming up. A yellow team contestant looked over, and drew a line across their neck.
Techno returned the gesture with a eye roll, re-tying his hair into a tight ponytail. They walked over to their spot on the line. Each team’s paths were stone tunnels, dimly lit.
He looked inside, and squinted. “Traps, traps, and traps. Stay frosty,” he muttered, taking off his royal robes, stuffing them in his inventory, and taking his place at the starting line.
“Psst! Guys,” Nell whispered, “it is a total bummer that we’re not going to be, y’know, work together...”
“You’re going to lose now,” her teammate interrupted. “I still think you’re all awesome, though,” she finished quickly.
Jesse nodded stiffly, and looked straight back into the tunnel.
“Competitors! On your mark...” they crouched down into a starting position. “Get set!” “Go!” They started running.
Techno instantly took the lead, flying down the tunnel.
A lava trap opened in the ceiling, and he sped past it before the magma could fall on his head.
“It’s just Hole In The Wall from Hypixel!” He hollered, diving right through lava and standing back up with a roll, “and lava parkour! This is easy!”
He easily jumped over the lava in a single leap. “Later, nerds!”
He ran out of the tunnel and slowed, loading a crossbow, turning his back, and started jogging backwards, sweeping his eyes at the different tunnels.
“This has been pretty tough so far!” Petra exclaimed, jumping over the lava.
Tough?!
How the fuck were these nerds still alive if this was tough?!
“Get ready to witness some greatness!” Jesse replied.
“Greatness, huh? A voice said next to them. A arrow flew straight at Jesse, barely missing.
Jesse drew his sword. “Outta my way, c—“
Techno aimed, and fired his crossbow, the arrow sticking straight in the enemy’s forehead. “Get sniped!” he screamed, pulling out his sword and running straight towards Yellow Team, where he eliminated them all with a single strike, sending them tumbling straight into the lava. “Ha!”
“Careful!” Petra bellowed, pointing at the lava flowing down in front of them.
Techno grinned, and pulled out his Fire Resistance potion, splashing himself with it before shoving straight through the lava wall unharmed.
“Fire resistance!” he replied as they caught up, “potions are overpowered, and I never heard that they were disallowed!”
Still talking, he pulled out even more potions: Strength, speed, leaping— and splashed himself with them.
They kept running for a little, before a pit yawned in front of them, and they jumped straight in, landing in water. “AAH!”
The water led straight to a open space, and it flowed down. They fell through the air, landing in water.
Techno’s Depth Strider 3 kicked in then, propelling him right out of the water, letting him climb back up on land and draw his sword.
“How is he so good at everything?” Jesse grumbled.
“Gladiator Junction.” He called over his shoulder, dodging a piece of TNT, “Petra, do the war crimes now!” “Where are the gladiators—“ “Pillars.”
A gladiator shot a flaming arrow at them, and he swatted it away.
“Really? This is just Bow Spleef! Get up. Keep moving.”
The other competitors were running around, screaming and dodging, clearly not remembering the fact that fear only muddled judgement.
He sliced an arrow in half, then sidestepped a piece of TNT. Some of the gladiators jumped down from the pillars, starting to hack at the competitors.
One of Purple Team’s members were flung into the air and landed on one of the gargoyles with a crunch. “Wow, that guy got owned.”
He dropped into a crouch and swept his leg under a competitor that got too close for comfort, tripping them, ”you all done yet?”
He brought his boot down on their head, crushing it.
“Ugh!” Finally, Jesse got back up, pulling Petra with him.
“Great. You ready? Let’s commit some war crimes!”
Two gladiators were blocking the exit and kicking away players. Em ran towards them, but instead of decking her, they let her run past.
“What ? That doesn’t make any sense. Why aren’t they—?” One of the gladiators looked at him, and raised their sword. “You’re mine! I’ve been dreaming of this since Spleef!” He growled.
Techno rolled his eyes at this, and ran straight at the slab of barely sentient meat.
“BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!”
Hooking his arms around the guy, he threw the gladiator straight into a wall with superhuman strength. The gladiator hit the wall so hard it cracked, then he slid down into the water comically.
“WHO’S NEXT?” he snarled, brandishing his bloodstained sword, “WHO’S NEXT?”
“Fire away!” one of the gladiators commanded. One of them threw a piece of TNT towards Jesse, managing to throw Petra and Jesse past him, and of course they don't dodge it.
“Oh my GODS! You’re all so useless—“ he jumped onto a gladiator, giving them an right hook and a uppercut, knocking them out.
Unfortunately, Petra wasn’t having that much luck. “Ahh!” A gladiator got the upper hand on her, and slashed an axe into her stomach— killing her.
“Petra!” Jesse screamed.
“DEATH!” Techno slammed into the gladiator that killed Petra with his legs, knocking them straight on the floor. He turned around, picking up Petra’s items with one swipe, since he didn't feel like taking away the already minuscule defense they had.
“Come ON!” he yelled at Jesse, gesturing at Em, who was gaping at him near the exit, “we gotta win!”
Em instantly ran through the doorway, Nell following her.
Techno took off after them. “Last stretch!”
There was a lava pit above a wall of vines, and Em was nearly halfway through. He ran at the wall without hesitation, jumping over the pit and grabbing on to the vines, landing next to Nell.
“Woah! Hey, Techno! Way to catch up, dude!” Nell exclaimed.
He grinned, and climbed the wall in two steps, jumping over the ledge. “Sorry, but losing isn’t something I do!” he yelled over his shoulder.
A few seconds later, Em climbed straight up, and drew her sword at him.
“Oh. You,” he sighed, “well, see you later.” He ran off, Em chasing him.
“Come here and fight me like a man!” she demanded, waving an iron sword.
“I’m half piglin!” he replied, sprinting up the stairs, “I’m not even human! It’d be like drop kicking a baby! Actually, that sounds nice.”
He turned around, letting Em catch up, and instantly kicked her down the stairs before she could slice him in half. She landed in a heap at the bottom of the stairs.
“See ya, loser!” With that, he ran up the last of the stairs.
…
“Soon, we will have a winner— and I think I know who it will be!“ Hadrian said.
Mevia laughed. “I am surprised that Jesse or his friends haven’t respawned yet.” “Me too, Mevia. Me too. Wait, what?”
Techno burst out of the stairway in front of them, gripping his sword. He was pretty sure he was also grinning like a complete maniac.
Walking up to Hadrian, he put on his robes, attaching the links and ruffling his collar.
Techno took a deep breath.
“AND NOT EVEN CLOSE BABY, TECHNOBLADE NEVER DIES! Technoblade never dies, never question me again! I don’t care how many things you throw at me, I don’t care how big of a disadvantage I’m at, I don’t care you you spawn twelve Witherstorms on my location, I am incapable of death! Two players down, favoritism, doesn’t matter, I do not die!” he yelled triumphantly, “I DO NOT DIE! Not once, not twice, never! I’m alive— try harder next time, loser!”
Jesse ran up next to him, and Em followed. “Well, it’s clear as day. Technoblade wins!” announced Otto.
“Him?” Em turned to said piglin, staring angrily.
“And there appears to be a confrontation on the field,” Melvia commented.
Techno smirked. “Betcha didn’t think I’d win,” he sneered, brushing his hair with his fingers, “well, better luck next time.”
“This just went from bad to worse,” Em snapped.
“You did whatever you did to win that race, Techno,” Hadrian said, “good to know. And you,” he rounded on Em, “you were supposed to ELIMINATE them! Our deal’s off!”
SSDFKJHSD LMAO THEY ACTUALLY THOUGHT-

Ah yes our dear Technoblade the only person capable of completely destroying competition
Blood for the blood god LMAO
“Aw, don’t snap at her,” he said sassily, “I’m the Blade, nobody could ever kill me.” Hadrian went red.
“Wait— deal?” Em and Jesse both asked at the same time.
“No! Please,” Em cried, but the Builders walked off.
Em sighed heavily. “You probably think I’m scum or whatever, but, you know what? I don’t even care,” she mumbled. “You have your deal, Jesse. If you and your friends win, you’ll just leave us anyway,” she said spitefully, “my shot at going home just went out in smoke, so feel free to judge all you want.”
Aw sad

“Goddamnit— fine, chat. Hey, nerd, what’d you think about me blowing this place up?”
Em stopped walking, turning back over. “Huh?”
“Blowing this entire place up and burning it to the ground. I’ll come back with TNT, soul sand, wither skulls, and see what happens then.” He shrugged. “Slavery isn’t very nice, cha?”
“Are you trying to trick me?”
“Nah. Freeing everyone is just a side effect of destroying this world.”
“We’ll see.”
She walked off.
Just then, Petra respawned behind them. “Ugh! Jesse, respawning is the worst!” she exclaimed.
Techno dropped her armour pieces and items, and she picked them up. “Thanks.”
A gladiator walked over, sneering.
“You? Didn’t I throw you into that wall?”
“Hadrian wants you,” the guard snarled at him. “And you,” he pointed to Jesse.
“Hm. Okay. Why?” “You made him reeeaal mad. Come on. I don’t have all day.”
“Understandable,” he muttered, “lead the way.”
They all started walking, but the gladiator stopped Petra. “No. Just them. Hadrian doesn’t allow dirty respawns in the palace.” “Okay... well, be safe, you two.” “You too.” With that, they walked off.
…
They were taken inside the palace, and into a... more luxurious than normal study. Tall glass windows adorned the sides, a yellow glass and sea lantern light fixture hung ten blocks in the air, magenta glass formed a small creeper face on the floor, there were quartz and gold walls on one side, and obsidian detailing at the entrance. Off to the side, in a display case, was a set of white, sky blue, and gold armour that looked pretty familiar. Tim?
Impressive for Jesse, maybe, but for Techno, who grew up in Hypixel with all its majestic maps, grand coliseums, and those Skyblock players who insisted on making those houses that would shame any self-respecting builder, it really was just another day in the field.
“Woah, so THIS is how the Old Builders live,” Jesse exclaimed.
“Pretty epic, right? Sometimes I just like to stand here and... stare,” replied the gladiator.
Lmao this is good???
Bro I’m pretty sure Grian’s toilet is better than this
Yeah?? Have they seen Hermitcraft? All the auditoriums and castles and mansions and shit? This is supposed to be good?
Phil has terraformed every single terrain there is into beautiful places and this is supposed to be impressive??????
Jesus even Pandora's Vault is prettier
“Eh, I’ve seen better,” Techno said, “I’ve got builder friends.”
“Oh, really? I bet you’re just making that up, snob. But what am I doing standing here? I gotta go find Hadrian. Also, don’t touch anything.” The gladiator turned and walked off.
The piglin sighed, and instantly undid his hair, pulling off the rubber band and running his fingers through it.
“Is it true that you’ve seen better?” Jesse asked suddenly.
“Yeah. My friends are pretty epic builders. Designed and built and entire nation, although Dream blew it all up with TNT. I really seem to be the only person that can’t build. But I more than make up for that in other spectrums.”
“Dream? Who’s that?”
“The only person that rivals me in combat, and probably the best at parkour and survival. You know how I’m this old god?”
“Yeah?”
“He’s one, too. Relatively younger, but much more powerful. Very manipulative and deadly when he feels like it. Almost convinced me to fight my friends when we first met. He was actually a very nice person, but made an excellent villain in our role-plays. Come to think of it, it’s probably that asshole who put that rip in front of my house.”
Just then, Hadrian came in, started doing the monologue thing, and told them how Tim was a fake (like he didn’t already know from the audacious amount of exposition).
“So, I had her bring back some things you were interested in...” Taking out a pickaxe, Hadrian broke down the wall next to Tim’s armour, revealing an obsidian room illuminated by lava, with two people trapped in cages.
“Axel! Olivia!” Jesse cried, running to them.
Goddamn, even hostages now? He really was playing that game.
“What do you want?” he sighed, rubbing his forehead.
“If you both lose the next match, I’ll let your friends go... but, you’re going to have to stay here in their place.”
“No deal,” he spat.
“Fine. We’ll play it your way. Which means you’re going to be crushed by my beast... and you both won’t win either way.”
“Hah. Sure.”
…
Jesse and him both ran back to the village.
“Hey!” Petra greeted. “How did it go?”
“They’ve got your friends, they’re going to make me fight some sort of beast tomorrow in the arena in exchange for the Atlas and our freedom,” Techno summed up.
Harper’s eyes widened. “The beast? Are you sure?” “Positive, he flaunted it.” “Oh dear. Otto said—“
“Everyone who has ever managed to win the games met their downfall by the beast, right?”
Harper nodded.
“Don’t worry, we're gonna Tim its ass.”
..
“Ladies and gentlemen! It is my privilege, my honour, to be here today, kicking off another wonderful day of the Games!” Hadrian boomed.
“That’s right, Hadrian. And not just any day, but the final day of the Games!” Otto yelled.
“Are you ready?” Jesse asked, nervously fidgeting.
Techno nodded. “Born ready. Let’s go.”
They were walked down the stone hallway by a gladiator, not saying anything to each other. They stopped in front of a door. “Good luck,” the gladiator said gruffly, “the beast’s real fast. I ain’t ever seen anyone leaving that arena in one piece except for the beast. It’s destroyed ten times more gladiators than pig guy in its time trying to train it up.”
Jesse nodded. “Thank you.” Then, they walked through the door.
“And today is a special day!” Mevia crowed, as they strode out into the arena, “our newcomers have made it through to the final round. Considering a deal, we have decided that they will be facing—“ she paused dramatically— “the beast!”
Techno rolled his eyes. “When will we get to the fighting?”
As if on cue, the wall on the opposite side of the arena started slowly opening with pistons. “Finally,” he muttered, drawing his sword. “Jesse, just like I taught you. Close in on it, if it tries to hurt you, duck.”
The door had fully opened now, and something was slowly floating out of it.
“And the beast is in the arena,” Otto said.
That was a… Wither.
“…bruh.”
“It’s a Wither!” Jesse hissed, “they’re one of the strongest—“
He held up a hand. “I’ll kill it myself, don’t worry about it.”
“You don’t understand! It—“
He drew Orphan Obliterator, the dark blade gleaming in the sun.
What the Builders didn’t know, was the fact that Dream had allowed him to take it to Hypixel and upgrade the hell out of the thing a week before the yeeting incident, calling it a special treat for his birthday.
He ran toward the Wither, dodged a blast, and swung the sword— one, two, three times for good measure. The blows each targeted one of its heads, causing the mob to give out a huge screech, before turning into a Nether Star.
After all, Orphan Obliterator was currently almost equivalent with the /kill command.
“Well, that was unexpected,” Hadrian said.
Techno groaned— he was really in the mood to teach these fucks a lesson now. “You know what? I challenge you to a fight. I'll kill you with my fists and fists only.”
He threw down his sword, kicking it aside to Jesse. “C’mon.”
Hadrian considered it for a few heartbeats. “Alright,” he decided, turning and walking down the tunnel to the arena.
“And in a unexpected twist of events, newcomer Technoblade has decided to challenge Hadrian to a fight!” Otto announced.
Hadrian stepped out of the tunnel, and ran towards Techno, taking out a sword, ready to slice him into pieces. The Old Builder instantly build a stairway upwards and jumped down at him. He dodged easily, and yanked the sword out of Hadrian’s grip. “Not even close.”
He was about to end it, when a axe cut him off from Hadrian. Mevia stood between them, brandishing axes.
“Okay, 2 v 1,” he muttered, but even with two people, the frequency of their attacks still couldn’t even remotely resemble his. Swing, flip, roll, kick, all the actions came easily to him, years of training ingrained into his muscle memory.
Soon, he caught Mevia off guard, stabbing her in the face, and now, only Hadrian was left.
“Get PVPed!” He yelled at him, swinging a diamond sword. “Say goodbye, loser!” He stabbed the sword through Hadrian, and he went up in a puff of smoke. “Ha!”
A second later, Hadrian appeared in the respawn cage. “I knew it!” Mevia fumed, “you and your stupid deals— especially when it was him!”
“There’s no time for that now, Mevia. We have to get out of here— c’mon!” He turned to walk out of the cage, but was blocked by the gladiators. “Move!” He yelled at them.
One of them, Slab, shook their head. “Em said the pigman promised to free all of us, and that you were using us like pawns,” he said, crossing his arms.
“You’re not going anywhere,” another gladiator snapped. “Yeah. Facemeat wants to discuss his benefits plan.”
…
Down in the arena, their friends had been freed. The Order of The Stone ran in, beaming at Jesse.
“You did it!” Petra yelled, throwing her arms around Jesse, “group hug!”
Techno rolled his eyes, continuing to poke through the items on the floor, scooping up what he deemed useful, which was pitifully little.
"Well done, you two. An excellent job," Otto said, striding into the arena with Harper.
"Uh, thanks, Otto," Jesse answered.
"Anyway, I think it's time to call in a cleanup crew and get them to the Admin Council," Techno interrupted him, standing up, "I am completely ready to go back and kill Dream."
The green-clad man nodded gravely. "I will do just that."
…
“—and then that’s when he ripped out the Redstone Heart!” Jesse exclaimed, walking down the last of the stairs. “Wow! Man, you guys have had so many adventures. So many people trying to kill you,” Axel said.
“Goodbye, guys! Goodbye! Thank you!” a competitor yelled before walking into the portal.
“That’s all of them. Everyone that wants to go home, anyhow. Except you folks, that is. I can’t believe how many competitors actually want to stay and keep playing the games. Thanks to you all, I can actually start making these games fun again!”
Techno tilted his head. “You’re welcome.”
Jesse and Ivor walked over. “So, how do we get home now?” Petra asked.
“Well, the Atlas belongs to you guys now— deal’s a deal and all that.” Otto knelt down, and held out the Atlas. Jesse gingerly took it in his hands.
“Sweet! Uh, how does it work?”
“Now you just say where you want to go— and the Atlas will show you the way. Why don’t you just go ahead and open it?”
“Okay book, take Technoblade home.” Jesse flipped open the Atlas, and runes rose up from it, forming a line that lead straight into the distance.
"That's... really far away," Jesse commented, peering at how it seemed to stretch infinitely into the hallway, until they couldn't see it anymore.
"I know," he sighed, reaching up to brush his fingers against the blue line.

Okay, so that was the old Code of the Esempi.
"See you all in... hopefully never."
Closing his eyes, he hooked onto the Code, and pulled.
…
“You absolute jerk!”
Dream burst into laughter, almost falling off the tree he was perched on.
Techno glared at him from the ground, arms crossed, communicator back on his wrist.
“I had to walk through so many worlds, pick up a bunch of noobs with no idea of how anything worked, and then had to punch the Old Builders in the face!”
“Sorry, sorry,” Dream giggled, wiping his eyes, “just, they were being stupid, I didn’t wanna deal with them, so who better to send than the Blood God?”
“Get down here, and I’ll show you the true meaning of pain.”
He started to wheeze again, but it quickly became a high pitched scream as Techno scaled the tree in three steps, pulling out his sword.
His completely maxed-out sword, with Hypixel’s best enchantments and a damage of a couple hundred hearts.
Dream’s screeching echoed across the Esempi as they began an impromptu game of manhunt.
