Summary
Kabuto lost touch with himself when he left the Konoha Orphanage to be with Orochimaru. For years it’s felt like what once was Yakushi Kabuto has broken and scattered, and the shattered pieces of himself refuse to come back together, despite all Kabuto can do. There are times he fantasizes death will rejoin the shards of a life splintered apart, but Kabuto is becoming experienced enough to know even death holds no answers.

Summary
Yahiko doesn’t know how he and Konan managed to do it, to finally secure themselves a living space on campus, and enough grants to pay for classes, but somehow they have. The reality feels like a dream that drifts into a nightmare when the half drunken ghost story spun at a frat party begins to take shape in Yahiko’s waking world. Is he alive? Or only dreaming?

Summary
Konan had deposited the reckless young upstart in Sasori’s care, ostensibly to work with as a partner, and he’d spent the past few days listening to him rant about how his defeat had been “stupid” and “unfair” and “complete, utter bullshit” and so on. Genjutsu could often seem that way, he supposed, to an idealistic nineteen-year-old who hadn’t yet had it drilled into him by the realities of war that the only fairness to be found was the simple, final fact of whether one lived or died. Still, he had reported it as a potential loyalty issue, and now… this.

Summary
Sasori emerged from Hiruko then, swaddled in his Akatsuki cloak, and batted his stained glass doe-eyes at Orochimaru. “Perfectly so. Commendable really, his commitment to our mutual cause.”
“And what cause is that?”
Sasori’s voice dropped to a feverish purr. “Exploration, naturally.”
