Summary
Yudai first spots him on a random Tuesday afternoon.
He’s leaving his apartment building for work when he spots a ladder truck in front of the building.
Ah, someone is moving.
Yudai turns to look over at the front of the ladder truck, where a few men are standing and talking. He assumes the only one not wearing a uniform like the rest of them is the one who is moving in.
The man has long silver-blond hair tied at the back in a ponytail, is wearing a black tank top that shows off his, frankly, really nice arms, and is smiling and bowing to the movers. When the man straightens his back, he turns and makes eye contact with Yudai, who quickly tears his eyes away.
Seems like a pretty and decent guy with nice arms, at least, Yudai thinks as he walks away.
(or: Yudai keeps running into the same guy. That's all that happens until one night, when they are stuck in the lift together.)

And that brings him to where he is right now at the current moment: staring down at a human (?) with the tiniest, cutest little horns and a tail wrapped around himself—holding a cake?
The person (creature?) looks extremely nervous if anything, but he forces a smile which shows something even stranger: sharpened canines that are definitely not human. Paired with the horns and the tail, Nicholas can only assume one thing.
“Hello.” The cake-holding human slash creature slash person says. His voice is soft and delicate, laced with anxiety in a way that makes Nicholas immediately feel guilty. “You, um, wanted this?”
Nicholas accidentally summons Jo. All he wanted was a cake, and now he has a demon on his hands.

Summary
Sometimes Taki is worlds away, edges fading into the night, adrift amongst the stars. Maki waxes and wanes with the tides, face turned towards the moon.
Loving, for Harua, has always been something solid and steady. It's standing stock-still even as a light drizzle transforms into a typhoon, it's being both the rope at the jetty and the anchor buried deep in the heart of a churning open sea at the same time. Harua's unimaginably far away from his home rainforest now, but even as he no longer lives by the rise of the sun and moon alone, he has found new twin planets to spin and be spun around, and he finds that he can't tear his eyes away.
In a town called New Salem, in a high school just for monsters, there are three puzzle pieces of a story told in three parts by three beating hearts: a werewolf, an orchid mantis, and a boogeymonster.
