It’s been nearly a decade. He never thought they’d fall out of touch quite like this, but the situation couldn’t be helped.
Eddie had to go on the run. Gareth’s mom made them flee town. Frankie left for college a year early to avoid being locked down. Jeff was stuck in Hawkins.
At first, they all spoke on the phone. It took a while for Eddie to get somewhere safe enough that he could call, but he did. Steve made sure of that.

Summary
Whoever is in the stall with Eddie is definitely taller and bigger. It’s hard for Jeff to tell just staring at their matching Doc Martens, but one pair is quite a bit bigger than the other, and Eddie has pretty small feet for a normal sized guy.
He’d been chatting with one of the bartenders earlier, but the guy didn’t really seem like Eddie’s type. Maybe that’s not true, though.
Jeff knocks on the door. “Dude, they’re closing up and we still have to get Gare’s drums in the van.”
