There are so many people, so many places, so much good, but just as much evil, maybe even more. And so we try to protect ourselfs from the fears we have. But Voldemort is just a fear, there is no telling what he can do, but there is also no telling what we can do. We posess powers we never knew of, and nor do we know of them now, and it will surprise you just how small and insignificant somone can be, but they could still defeat the Dark Lord. And we are still awaiting that one person to come, to rise up! To defeat the most evil man the world has ever known! And how much we are scared, but we hope and hope for him to be killed, and we hope and hope that we can be the one to hurt him as much as he has hurt this world, as much as he has hurt us. Destroying our families like a mad-man. Showing no emotion at all. No regret, no concience! And as I hold the charred peice of parchment in my hand, I vow to help bring his downfall, for that wetched man killed my parents last night. And it's all my fault. If only I wasn't a muggle-born, maybe if I was a Pure-blood, then my parents would still be alive. I let the letter fall out of my hands, I hear the portrait slam shut, and someone sits next to me, pulling me close to them, and wrapping their arms around me. I can't help it. I just cry, not bothering to even look to see who this guy is. But as I cryed, memories flashed through my mind. I remembered dancing in the rain, only to have my father pull me inside, but once he had gone back to watching TV, my mother came back outside with me, and we danced. I remembered Petunia calling me names all those summers after I came back from Hogwarts, and my parents had yelled at her for it. I remembered last year when James Potter started chasing after me, Lily Evans, and in the summer he came to my house. I was so mad at him, but my parents smiled, and my mother gave him cookies. They were my sheild from Petunia, she hated me. And now I'm a 16-year-old orphan. I have no where to go. My 6th year at Hogwarts ends tommorrow, and we leave on the train tommorrow night. Where will I go?

My tears eventually stopped, my face was red, I knew. I looked up, only to find myself in the arms of James Potter. James Potter. Bloody Gorgeous. Untidy black hair. Hazel eyes. And he's been chasing after me since last school year. Even though I pretend to hate him, I really don't. We're sort of friends. And I just sighed and fell back against him. And for hours we sat like that in silence. Not an awkward silence, a peaceful silence. I was out of my mind, I was so sad. If I want him to keep thinking I don't like him, when I really do, then why am I letting him do this? Because he's the only person that is sort of like a friend to me, he's the only person wo has bothered to find out what happened, to see why I'm crying, to comfort me at all, that's why. He seems to be the only one who cares. After awhile I had to will myself to get up and go to bed, but I didn't, I just fell asleep with James Potter holding on to me tight.

The train ride home, the next night, was supposed to be silent, I was supposed to be alone. But wherever James Potter goes, the rest of the Marauders go, too. James just had to continue to be around me. To comfort me more and more. I just sat silently, a tear or two streaming down my face, with James next to me, while the rest of the Marauders joked around, and James laughed at them. After about an hour it overwhelmed me. How could they just laugh and talk like Voldemort wasn't out there? How could they just play around when I'm in pain, when I'm hurting, when I'm right in front of them?! I shook my head, tears streaming down my cheeks, and I stood and ran from the compartment, stumbling partly because my vision was blurred by tears, partly because the train was wobbling on it's tracks. And James, the fool, came after me as I tore down the hallway and into the only empty compartment I could find. And Mr.James Potter pulled me as close as he could. I cried into his shoulder, soaking his robes. And after awhile I quit crying, wiped my eyes with my hand, and looked up at James. "How can they just laugh and kid around like Voldemort isn't out there? How can they just act like that when I'm right in from of them hurting??!" I whispered, angry. I saw that James had a small smile on his face, a very small smile. "Lily," He began, it being the first time he didn't use my surname, "No one has to always live in fear and sadness, it's not like he's going to pop-out out of nowhere and kill you. You have to understand that you just have to live life like it's your last day, even though it probably isn't." He added, laughing slightly.

Do you know how if feels to lose someone so close to you? So close that they hold you together? Without them it feels as if you would fall apart. They are the stiches that hold you together, the fragments that complete you. I was that close to my parents, but not anymore, for they are gone, and I feel utterly and entirely like I'm falling apart. But I'm afraid that, with James playing hero, and comforting me an all, that I will get too close to him. I know it's going to happen, and I know he's going to go away sometime soon, we will be leaving school in a year, and he will be ripped away from me just like my parents were. Of course, he will still be alive, but we will not be near eachother. I stand outside of the trainstation, letting the rain soak into my clothes. I looked up at the gray sky, and sighed, remembering how much I loved the rain. I smiled, for the first time in what seemed like forever. A arm slipped around my waist, it guided me towards a slick black car, and then I realized that it was James. " I love it when you smile." He whispered in my ear, climbing into the backseat of that toasty car with me. I don't know why, but I smiled again. That's how James got me to come to his house. A big mansion. And as soon as I was led to a room, I collapsed onto the bed, sleep coming almost instantly.

A dusty light awakened me. I was starving. I stretched, rubbing sleep from my eyes. I walked slowly, lazily over to the threshold of the bathroom. I shook my hair from my eyes as I began to take a shower. I'm getting rather sick of it, you see. I'm tired of the long, red locks. How they annoy me. After my shower I changed into some warm, clean pajamas and padded quietly down the stairs. James's house was huge. I almost got lost. But Sirius found me.

"Hullo, Lily." He said quietly, grabbing my arm. "The kitchen is this way." He led me towards a huge oak door. After we had bowls of cereal in front of us, Sirius looked up at me sadly.

"Lily?" I looked up at the whispering of my name. "I'm sorry. That bastard killed your parents, and I was a fool to not realize." I felt tears well up in my eyes.

"Lily?" Again I looked up at the mentioning of my name."It's okay to be angry. You can scream if you want. I don't mind, really, I don't."

I wanted to scream, rant, and rave. I wanted to cry, sulk, and eat an entire tub of icecream just for the hell of it. It was no use, trying to mollify me. I could not be soothed at the moment.

"I'll do that later. Right now, I just want to..." I paused, looking up. "I don't know, any ideas?"

Sirius smiled, he gathered up our forgotten bowls and jogged over to the bottom of the stairs.

"JAMES!" He bellowed. "REMUS!"

There was a loud thudding noise as two teenage boys tripped over one another on the way down the stairs. I giggled, pushing my annoying hair away from my face. They fought to untangle themselves, standing up a few minutes later and staring at us. I turned away, pushing my hair out of my eyes again.

"We should go sailing on your lake, James. Lily'll love it." Sirius whispered to the others. I looked up at the plain white ceiling and fought back the tears that came to my eyes. I hadn't been on a boat before, but my father used to leave me and my mother in a shore-side hotel where we could watch for hours as he fished far from shore. I sighed, realizing that pretty much anything could remind me of my parents.

"You might want to get your suit on, Ms. Evans." James told me. I nodded slightly, yawning, before starting to climb the stairs. I got my plain black bikini from my trunk and walked lazily to a bathroom. Maybe things this summer were going to be alot different than I imagined.
