Work Text:

Jeongguk knew he wasn’t going crazy, he knew, he knew, that someone was stealing his flowers. The first time it happened, he blamed it on the animals, but the second time was exactly a week later from the first time, and he brushed it off as a coincidence. The third time, it was like fucking clockwork, it was pissing him off.

More of his flowers missing, certain ones have gone missing. His fucking Calla Lilies, he loved those flowers they were so pretty, and fuck they weren’t the cheapest thing either. He knew that someone was taking them, every fucking sunday, but those weren't the only flowers missing either.

The Calla’s were the ones most missing, but other ones like his roses and his orchids, which were a lot of fucking money. Jeongguk huffed and as he stepped outside and looked at his garden, flowers missing again . He could never catch the culprit, but he couldn’t explain how angry he was when he saw footprints in the expansive soil, he lost it.

He called his hyungs and whined to them, talking about the flowers going missing, and they simply comforted the youngest over the phone. Jeongguk came to the conclusion that who ever was taking his flowers was someone probably giving them to a special somebody, he couldn’t really think of anything else. He was so going to catch his flower thief and it was not going to end well for the other person.

Jeongguk was on a stake out, staying up all night, watching his garden, waiting. Impainetnely. It was around seven in the morning when Jeongguk saw someone jump over his fence.

He waited, squinting his eyes to make sure his mind wasn’t playing games. It wasn’t. The person crouched down and picked a few Lilies and roses, before grabbing another couple of Scabiosas as well. “Hey!”

Taehyung knew he was going to get caught. He’s been doing this for far too long and he was going to get caught stealing flowers. Be charged with flower theft or something. Taehyung just didn’t think he would get caught today.

“Hey!” Taehyung whipped his head up, thinking that it would be an angry old man but nope, just a really, really, hot guy. The guy stumbled and ran towards Taehyung. Taehyung cursed when he realizes he’s been stealing flowers from a really, really, cute guy, and he’s regretting not gettign caught eairler.

“Dude! What the fuck? Stop stealing my flowers!” The guy said, glaring at Taehyung as he sized him up. Taehyung gulped. This guy, was fucking thick. “You know what? How about this; I meet this girlfriend of yours to make sure she’s pretty enough to warren flower theft, and if not, I’m charging you.” The guy said smugly, crossing his arms, tapping his foot impatiently. Taehyung opened his mouth then closed it.

“I-I don’t have a girlfriend.” Taehyung said, and the man raised an eyebrow. “Then why are you stealing my flowers?” Taehyung really didn’t know how to break it to the guy. “You know what? Let me finish getting the flowers and I’ll take you.” Taehyung told him, and the guy furrowed his eyebrows and nodded, letting Taehyung take his pick. He took the usual, roses and such, along with what he had in his hand. Awkward silence filled the air.

“So,” Taehyung coughed, hoping that some sort of sound would fill the silence. The man raised an eyebrow and Taehyung shut up. “What’s her name?” The guy asked and Taehyung smiled sadly as he said it. “Jisu.”

They were walking side by side, slowing heading towards the cemetery. Taehyung didn’t know what to say, or how to say that he’s been stealing flowers for his dead mother. Awkward conversation topic. “I’m Taehyung, by the way.” Taehyung said, fiddling with the flowers. “Jeongguk.” He replied. “She really likes Calla Lilies. They were always her favourite.” Taehyung explained, adn Jeongguk didn’t know why he used past tense.

Once they saw the gate to the cemetery, Taehyung felt nervous. He could, should, try and make a run for it, but with Jeongguk’s muscular legs, he’d catch Taehyung in a second with no effort. Before they knew it, they were at the gate and Taehyung stopped, Jeongguk turning his head to see why he stopped. “This way,” Taehyung mumbled, not even bothering to wait for the other. Jeongguk frowned, but once realization hit him, he felt guilty.

He didn’t say anything as he walked after Taehyung, who knew his way around quite well. Taehyung stopped in front of a grave and Jeongguk swallowed the lump in his throat. “Hi mom. Got caught stealing those really pretty flowers.” Taehyung said awkwardly, chuckling. “So apparently it isn’t an old, cranky man, but a handsome young fellow.” Taehyung laughed, looking over his shoulder, and Jeongguk could see the tears in his eyes.

Taehyung crouched down and set the flowers in front of the tombstone. Taehyung sniffed and Jeongguk remained silent. “See you next sunday.” Taehyung whispered, getting up and wiping at his eyes. He didn’t look back as he walked out the cemetery quickly. Jeongguk ran after him, reaching him at the entrance. “Taehyung, I’m sorry.” Jeongguk said and Taehyung shook his head, trying to keep his tears in.

“Don’t worry about it.” Jeongguk sighed, running a hand through his hair before pulling Taehyung close and hugging him tightly. Taehyung melted in his arms, tucking his head in Jeongguk’s shoulder as he struggled not to cry. “You can keep stealing my flowers if you want?” Jeongguk offered and Taehyung laughed wetly.

“Oh god, you’re horrible.” “I know.” Jeongguk smiled and Taehyung felt light all of a sudden. “I know a way you can make this up.” Taehyung giggled. “Hey! You’ve been stealing my flowers!” Jeongguk said playfully, neither realizing that they were still holding each other.

“Well you put me in a awkward position.” Taehyung teased and Jeongguk rolled his eyes. “Okay, how?” Jeongguk asked. “You could take me out on a date.” Taehyung bit his lip, eyes shining. Jeongguk replied quickly. “Deal,”
