when did my heart become like this?

Summary:

"Come on," Hoseok urges gently, moving the pillow aside so he can see Taehyung's face properly. "We've got a busy schedule today." He meets Taehyung's eyes, feels something twist inside his chest at the hopeful pout Taehyung sends him. "Aish," he says under his breath, rolling his eyes — though it comes out fondly despite his attempt at being annoyed. "Yah, that doesn't work on me anymore. I've become immune to that face." It's a bluff really. Years later and Hoseok's heart still melts a little at Taehyung's imploring expression.

"Kiss me then," Taehyung says, turning his face and presenting his profile to Hoseok. He taps his cheek twice with his index finger, (still pouting — god it's adorable), "Gimme a kiss and I'll get up."

Or, the (5) times where Hoseok wakes Taehyung up by giving him a kiss, and the (1) time Taehyung returns the sentiment.

Hoseok has always liked mornings.

He wouldn’t say he’s overly preppy when he gets up, but he’s definitely more cheery than most people, particularly his band members. Every day brings a fresh, new start, and Hoseok soaks it in like flowers taking in rain after a drought. If he’s being honest, he doesn’t know if he’s always been chipper in the AM, if his life is labeled in two eras: one where he wasn’t animated at the start of the day and one where he is, if it coincides with his life without Bangtan and his life as a part of Bangtan.

What he is certain of is that mornings are his personal strength and enthusiasm boosters. It’s in the afternoons when he feels his energy waning, languidness creeping in. But the dawning of a new day is always a blessing, always something to look forward to, even if the sun’s not shining.

His favorite time to practice is just after sunrise, when the practice room starts coming to life. Either then or late at night — but they're usually stuck in the practice room late into the night anyway so he doesn’t get too much time to himself during those times anymore. But during the early hours of daybreak, the studio is empty, quiet, and often times Hoseok likes to go there to refresh, to recharge, to clear his mind and prepare for a busy day.

He doesn’t always have to achieve this by dancing. Sometimes, he simply sits there with his eyes closed, listening to music, letting his thoughts escape him. Other times, he catches up on his friends’ activities and that helps renew his spirits and determination. That’s exactly what he’s been doing this morning, watching B.A.P.’s latest live performances and silently cheering for Junhong and his members on their success.

The dorm is dark and quiet when Hoseok slips in, tucking off his shoes silently and taking off his earphones. There’s a light on in the kitchen, and Hoseok gravitates toward it, wondering who’s awake. He’s not entirely surprised to find Jimin by the island, making some breakfast for himself. Though Jimin has a tendency to be late to nearly every function they have, he’s still an early riser like Hoseok.

“Morning, hyung,” he greets, pausing his work to flash Hoseok a smile.

“Hey, Jimin,” Hoseok murmurs, slipping past him to get a drink of water. “Sleep okay?”

“Alright,” Jimin replies with a shrug, understandably more focused on whatever he’s cutting.

Hoseok slips on his water slowly, savoring it while leaning against the counter. “Anyone else up?”

“I think I saw Seokjin hyung going to the bathroom."

“Don’t we have to leave soon?” Hoseok asks, frowning as he glances at the time on his wristwatch.

Jimin just snorts. “Better start waking them up.”

Setting his cup down, Hoseok pushes himself off the counter and peaks over Jimin’s shoulder. He snatches a tasty looking radish and ducks away, snickering as Jimin tries to swing at him. “Alright, I’ll grab Jungkook and Taehyung,” he tells him, backing out of the kitchen, chuckling again as Jimin glares at him. No one wants to get caught trying to wake up Yoongi.

His laughter dies down as he makes his way to his shared room with Jimin and Taehyung. Pushing the door open, Hoseok tries to be quiet as he walks in, looking around the room. The early morning sun is just starting to peek through the windows, bathing the room with a soft light. It's no wonder why someone wouldn't want to leave such a peaceful atmosphere.

Hoseok finds Taehyung where he left him when he slipped out to practice, sprawled across his — Hoseok's — bed, one arm thrown over the extra pillow and hugging it close to his chest. The sheets are twisted between his legs, one foot poking out from under the covers.

It's not a new sight, since the two of them usually end up sleeping in the same bed together most of the time, arms and legs wrapped around each other — and yet Hoseok still can't help but find it endearing.

He moves further into the room, a soft smiling slowly spreading across his lips as he puts one knee on the bed and bends down, hovering over Taehyung. This close up, he can see the pillow creases on Taehyung's face and the small spot of smudged eyeshadow Taehyung must've forgot to wipe off last night. His eyelashes are long, it's not an unknown fact, but Hoseok allows himself a moment to admire them, the way they rest against Taehyung's cheeks so softly.

It's subconscious almost (he doesn't even realizing he's doing it) how he lifts his hand up and gently sweeps his thumb over Taehyung's closed eyelid. His hand sort of ends up resting against Taehyung's cheek, while his thumb brushes away the tips of Taehyung's hair that fall past his eyebrows. Before Hoseok knows it, he's sitting down beside Taehyung, one arm thrown over Taehyung's chest while he cradles Taehyung's face in both of his hands, caressing Taehyung's closed eyelids, the high arch of his cheek bones.

Taehyung awakes slowly, blinking, brown eyes squinting at the morning light. He twists in Hoseok's hold, pursing his lips as he rolls fully onto his back and brings the pillow he's hugging along with him.

Christ, he's so adorable. Hoseok's chest tightens watching him.

His hands move upward on their own accord, carding through Taehyung's hair and pushing it off his forehead gently. The smile that creeps across Taehyung's face isn't his signature boxy grin — but it's close. His eyes scrunch up for a moment, chest rising as he holds in a breath. Hoseok feels it when Taehyung lets out a sigh. Somehow it warms his heart even more.

"Morning," Taehyung murmurs, voice groggy. He smacks his lips and peers up at Hoseok, still half-asleep.

Hoseok chuckles softly and smoothes out Taehyung's hair once again, something akin to an enamored smile on his face as he looks down his dongsaeng. "Time to get up, Tae."

Taehyung groans and tries to cover his face with the pillow on his arms. "Five more minutes," he mumbles, eyes squeezed shut as if it'll magically make him disappear and help avoid the inevitable.

Hoseok huffs out a breath, rolling his eyes again, and pretends to be annoyed for a moment, pretends to think about it, but there's no denying he's a sucker for cuteness and affection. When he leans down, he makes sure to wet his lips before smacking a loud, slobbery kiss to Taehyung cheek.

"Ugh, hyung!" Taehyung instantly moans in disgust, squirming underneath him and wiping the cheek Hoseok just kissed. He looks so offended Hoseok can't help but laugh at the affronted expression on his face.

"Come on." Hoseok pats Taehyung's hip, moving to get up himself. "I fulfilled my part, now you have to carry out yours. Get up."

Taehyung groans once again, but he finally pulls the pillow he was hugging away from his body. "If I'd known you'd kiss me like that, I wouldn't have made that promise." He looks grossed out again, eyebrows furrowed and mouth downturned into a scowl. "Christ," he mutters, "Not only do you look like a horse, but you kiss like one."

"Yah!" Hoseok squawks, jumping on Taehyung for the remark. He almost feels a tiny bit of remorse for possibly hurting Taehyung by suddenly dropping on top of him, but then he sees the shit-eating grin on Taehyung's face and any bit of sympathy flies out the window. "You little shit," he grumbles, retaliating in the only way he knows: tickling. He goes for Taehyung's armpits first, making him wriggle and laugh.

"Stop!" Taehyung giggles, trying to kick out at Hoseok and jostle him, but Hoseok's straddling Taehyung's thighs, barely giving him any leverage. "Hyung, s-s-stop!"

"Take it back," Hoseok tells him, digging his fingers into Taehyung's ribs and sides. "Take it back!"

"Okay — okay!" Taehyung wheezes and Hoseok ceases his onslaught, hands falling to Taehyung's waist. "I'm sorry," Taehyung begins, pausing to catch his breath. His hair's disheveled, face flushed, eyes watering, but — to no one someone's surprise — Hoseok finds him cute as always. "I'm sorry for ever saying you kiss like a horse."

Hoseok lets out a quiet hmph and crosses his arms across his chest, pursing his lips into a smug pout, looking triumphant seated on Taehyung's lap.

"... Even if you do look like one."

That conniving dipshit.

There's a second where neither of them move. Hoseok stares down at Taehyung, gaping at Taehyung's smirk. And then he moves with lightning speed, hands snatching at Taehyung's neck, but Taehyung's faster, grabbing both of Hoseok's wrists before they can reach him.

"Bastard," Hoseok hisses, struggling in Taehyung's grip. His hands are hovering just above Taehyung's collarbone and he wiggles his fingers to see if he can at least scratch him with a fingernail or something, but Taehyung bites down on his lip and pushes against Hoseok, not letting Hoseok's fingers even ghost his skin. The unexpectedness of it makes Hoseok's breath hitch in his throat. Shit, when did his dongsaeng get this strong? Fidgeting, he grunts and Taehyung just continues to sneer at him. "Yah, you're disrespecting your hyung. Have you no shame?"

As soon as he says it, he realizes how rhetorical it sounds, because he's talking about Taehyung, the epitome of carefreeness.

Snickering, Taehyung blows a raspberry at Hoseok, head lolled to the side. "Nope."

Oh that is it.

Hoseok lets out a battle cry and jabs his knees into Taehyung's sides, hard. Taehyung doesn't see the hit coming and gasps, loosens his grasp on Hoseok's wrist enough for Hoseok to break free, grabbing for him. After that it's a blur of hands and feet as they try to one-up the other, grabbing wherever they can, kicking at one another, and rolling around in the bed.

“You win — you win!” Taehyung cries once Hoseok gets him into a headlock, despite being pinned under Taehyung’s larger frame.

“That’ll teach you,” he mumbles, snickering as he slackens his grip and lets Taehyung go. Sighing, he slumps against the bed, exhausted from the romp. Immediately, Taehyung curls up next to him, laying his head on Hoseok's chest, fingers idly tracing patterns on Hoseok's shirt. It's quiet in the room while they both catch their breath, and Hoseok drags his hand to Taehyung's hair, muscle memory, stroking the back of Taehyung’s hair softly. "Better get up before Sejin hyung comes for us.”

Taehyung lifts up his head, a soft smile gracing his features. Unsurprisingly, he seems to be on a different wavelength because he says, "I'm your favorite dongsaeng, right?"

It's a bit out of nowhere and the impulsiveness of it makes Hoseok chuckle, but there's no refuting Taehyung's claim, because Hoseok can't lie to himself, and there's no point ignoring Taehyung either, because he seems genuinely curious and Hoseok would feel bad laughing it off.

"Of course," Hoseok tells him, looking up at him and caressing his feathery hair.

The familiar, easy gaze Taehyung gives him makes his heart feel all mushy. He's grown too comfortable of Taehyung's affections, and he's starting to wonder if that's a blessing or a curse.

He pulls Taehyung's head back against his chest, arms winding around Taehyung's neck and keeping him close, cozy. Like home.

"Of course you're my favorite, Taehyungie."

<< 2 >>

Hoseok doesn’t realize how tired he is until he climbs into the van and plops down into the backseat, body melting against the cushions as he sighs.

It’s been a whirlwind of photoshoots for sponsors all day — and though it isn’t as physically exhausting as rehearsals can be, waiting in between shoots has wore him out, leaving him restless somewhat. It’s all part of the job, he knows, though nothing compares to being on stage. No other feeling compares to performing.

After tugging his beanie over his hair, he shoves his headphones further into his ears, pulling out his phone to crank up the volume, but someone jostles him as they sit down. Glancing over, Hoseok catches a glimpse of Taehyung sprawled across the seat next to him, eyes already closed.

“God, I’m so tired,” he groans, eyebrows pinched in distaste, a sour grimace pulling down his lips.

Hoseok shouldn’t find it so adorable, really, but he does. He can’t help but find a lot of things Taehyung does adorable. A corner of his mouth tugs upward as he watches Taehyung try to get comfortable. “Yeah, me too,” he murmurs once Taehyung leans back against the headrest.

“Can’t wait to go home,” Taehyung murmurs, crossing his arms across his chest. Hoseok has always wondered if that’s some kind of subconscious reflex he does when he doesn’t have anything (or anyone) to hold as he falls asleep. “Can’t wait to sleep in my bed.” Hoseok doesn’t need to see Taehyung to know there’s a smile on his face; he can hear it in Taehyung’s voice.

He reaches over and runs a hand through Taehyung’s hair, hoping to lull him to sleep. “You’ve worked hard today,” he tells Taehyung, “We’ll be home soon.”

As he draws his hand away, Jungkook jumps into the van and shuts the side door, flooding the car with darkness. Hoseok settles back in his seat as they pull away, leaning his head against the window and letting his eyes drift. He wonders if the rumbling of the car and the distant sounds of traffic could lull him to sleep — but it’s a futile thought at best. He can’t seem to fall asleep whenever and wherever like some of the other members can.

So instead, he tries to push his worries away and think about something more pleasant. His mind takes him back to earlier, when Jimin was pulling funny faces to make Jungkook smile during his shoot. Taehyung had joined Jimin not long after, pulling his own silly expressions. Hoseok smiles now, remembering how Taehyung had even gotten the staff to respond to his antics. As the face of positivity in their group, he doesn’t say it often, but constantly being expected to be the happy virus is hard, and he appreciates it tremendously when someone else tries to lift up the mood.

He probably looks ridiculous, grinning like an idiot in the dark at the thought of his dongsaeng. But he can’t pretend he isn’t fond of Taehyung to the fullest.

Suddenly, an elbow to the side shocks him from his musings. Hoseok twists in his seat, mouth open and ready to let out a complain, but the moment Taehyung’s head falls against his shoulder, the retort dies in his throat. Christ, this kid is going to be the bane of his existence.

It’s just that, even in the dimness of the car, Hoseok can still see how cute Taehyung looks with his cheek pressed up against his shoulder, lips pulled into a skewed pout, causing a corner of his mouth to open slightly. What’s worse is that Taehyung’s arms seem to have unfolded from his chest and latched upon the closest thing in reach: Hoseok’s arm. Taehyung lets out the softest noise of content, snuggling closer and Hoseok’s chest swells at the sight.

Damn his weakness for all things soft — especially when it comes to Taehyung. Hoseok is supposed to be the hyung here, tough and indifferent, but all that nonchalance was dropped the moment he met Taehyung, baby-faced, terrified, and excited all at once. Hoseok is starting to realize that Taehyung didn’t just crawl his way into his heart and decide to stay. No, Taehyung barreled his way in and set up a home there.

Sighing, and still smiling stupidly, Hoseok scoots down in his seat so that Taehyung’s head can fall more comfortably against his shoulder. Then, he tilts his head against the tinted glass again, and closes his eyes.

They arrive back at the dorm all too quickly. As Jungkook gathers up his things, Hoseok takes out his headphones and turns to wake up Taehyung. This part is always the hardest, because Taehyung just looks so innocent, Hoseok hates being the one to ruin his peace.

“Taehyung-ah,” he whispers, nudging his shoulder to shake Taehyung awake. “Come on, we’re here.”

Groaning, Taehyung lifts his head, squinting when Jungkook opens the side door and fills the car with light as he climbs out of the van. “Ugh,” he croaks, leaning back against the headrest. “Don't wanna get up.”

“I know you don’t, Tae,” Hoseok tells him, unable to keep the fondness from slipping into his voice. His hand comes up to brush Taehyung’s hair off his forehead. “But the faster we get out, the faster we can be home and the faster we can go back to sleep.”

Taehyung seems to think about this, if the determined furrow between his eyebrows is anything to go by. But then, his expression turns mischievous, and before Hoseok has a chance to escape, he finds himself draped halfway across Taehyung’s lap with Taehyung’s wicked arms wrapped around his waist.

“Hyung, carry me,” Taehyung demands, pushing his face into Hoseok’s neck and nuzzling the side of Hoseok’s throat.

Surprised by the request, Hoseok barks out a laugh and looks down at Taehyung incredulously. “Taehyung, you’re two times bigger than me. You should be the one carrying me!”

Sure, there was a time when Hoseok could give Taehyung a piggyback ride without any problem. But Taehyung’s grown since then, shoulders rivaling Seokjin’s and height nearly equal to Namjoon’s. He’s not the tiny teenager he was all those years ago.

“Meanie,” Taehyung murmurs petulantly, squeezing Hoseok’s middle in retaliation. He glowers at Hoseok, but there’s barely any malice behind it.

Chuckling, Hoseok strokes Taehyung’s hair, biting back back a smile at how endearing he looks. Hoseok wonders — not for the first time in his life — if he’ll ever become immune to Taehyung’s adorable mannerisms.

“Fine then,” Taehyung grumbles, tilting his head up at Hoseok expectantly, eyes nearly sparkling. “Kiss me instead.”

Aish. Who thought it was a good idea to put so much cuteness in one person and make Hoseok such a sucker for it?

Powerless to say no, he cups Taehyung’s cheeks and bends down to kiss Taehyung’s nose, keeping his lips pressed to Taehyung’s skin for a few seconds. When he pulls away, there’s a dreamy sort of look on Taehyung’s face, eyes closed and lips slightly parted as if he kissed him there instead. Something stirs inside of Hoseok to see Taehyung so pliant beneath him, but he pushes the feeling away, rendering it a fluke.

Regardless, Hoseok still feels his face flush and glances away. Clearing his throat in hopes of regaining some control, he says, “Come on. We have to go.”

He finds Taehyung’s grip around his waist has slackened so he uses it to his advantage, slipping out of Taehyung’s lap and getting out of the van.

The expression on Taehyung’s face still looks rather spacey, but it resembles something much more sleepier than it did a moment ago. Or were Hoseok’s eyes seeing something that wasn’t there? He doesn’t let himself linger on the thought and grabs Taehyung’s hands instead. “C’mon, ya big lump,” he mumbles, dragging Taehyung up. “Let’s go.” Taehyung moves sluggishly, like his muscles have fallen asleep, stumbling into Hoseok on his way out. “Oh Jesus,” Hoseok grunts under the weight of Taehyung. He hooks an arm around Taehyung’s back and shuts the door to the car. “You’re not drunk are you?”

Taehyung takes the liberty of draping himself over Hoseok’s back, arms wrapping around Hoseok’s waist once more as they start to waddle down the asphalt. His voice is barely a whisper when he says, “Would you kiss me again if I was?”

Hoseok swears the shiver that ripples through him is because Taehyung’s warm breath hits the side of his neck, nothing more. That doesn’t explain why he feels his face heat up, but whatever.

“Yah!” he exclaims, though it almost comes out as a stammer. “See if I let you into my bed with that kind of talk.”

“Hyung please,” Taehyung snorts, “You cuddle with me every night, regardless of whether I’m drunk or not.”

Hoseok doesn’t know what to blame the stumble in his next step on. He’s too tired and Taehyung’s heavy weight isn’t helping him focus.

He doesn’t have a retort, because it’s true and they both know it. Maybe Hoseok needs to be held as much as Taehyung needs to hold someone. What a pair the two of them make.

“Hobi-hyung likes to cuddle,” Taehyung singsongs, “Hobi-hyung likes to cuddle.”

“Aish, you drive me crazy,” Hoseok mutters, but he’s smiling, and he knows Taehyung knows he is.

Taehyung buries his face into the nape of Hoseok’s neck, sighing happily. “Love you, hyung,” he adds, dowdiness creeping into voice as he slumps against Hoseok.

Hoseok grants himself one more fond snicker. “Love you, too, Taehyungie.”

<< 3 >>

Plopping down on the floor, Hoseok pushes a hand through his damp bangs, breathing out a heavy sigh.

They’re running through a patch of choreography for an upcoming concert, and although they’ve done this kind of strenuous work multiple times before, it still leaves him breathless, panting hard through an open mouth.

Bending his knees, Hoseok grabs the collar of his t-shirt and wipes the sweat off his face, still catching his breath. Christ his feet ache already and they’ve barely begun.

Sighing, he drops his collar and fans himself futilely with a hand, glancing around the bright practice room. Everyone is off doing something different — Namjoon’s talking to one of the staff, no doubt sorting out any discrepancies like the thoughtful leader he is. Jungkook and Seokjin seem to be taking turns tossing snacks into each other’s mouths. Hoseok watches as one bounces off Seokjin’s chin, making the two of them giggle. He can’t help the fond snicker that escapes him at their childish antics. After a moment, he pulls his gaze away and scans the room for Jimin, noticing that he’s still dancing in front of the mirrors. His movements aren’t as fast as the choreo demands them to be, almost as if he’s just working on memorizing the sequence. Hoseok feels pride stir in his chest as he watches, never ceasing to be amazed at Jimin’s dedication and hard-work.

He goes to wipe off some more sweat, silently wondering if the bright lights in the practice room are making him even hotter, when someone drops down beside him. Just from the groan his band member lets out Hoseok knows it’s Yoongi. Damn, have they all really lived together for so long they can tell each other apart from the sound of their breath?

Shaking his head at his musings, Hoseok glances over at his hyung — who’s spreading his arms and legs out like a starfish, face flushed with exertion. Hair disheveled, his eyes drift closed and a pout forms on his thin lips.

The snort that escapes Hoseok earns him a middle finger.

“I don’t want to hear it.”

“I didn’t say anything,” Hoseok defends, but he’s giving Yoongi a shit-eating grin — though Yoongi can’t see it.

Yoongi flips him off again, but passes him a water bottle. Aish, that tsundere hyung.

Hoseok takes the offered water bottle with a small, “thanks,” and gulps down a couple of mouthfuls. He’s twisting the cap back and crossing his legs at the ankle when Taehyung appears out of nowhere and sits down beside him, immediately grabbing his thigh as hostage. “Yah!” he scolds, shoving Taehyung’s head away as Taehyung tries to lie down on his thigh.

“Hyung, c’mon,” Taehyung whines, wrapping an arm around Hoseok’s leg like a boa constrictor, keeping him tapped.

Hoseok can’t explain why his breath catches as Taehyung tugs his leg closer and leans against it, warm fingers resting against his knee. He wishes he could think of a better comeback other than, “Tae, you stink,” but he can’t.

“So do you,” is Taehyung’s retort, but he’s the one curling closer and practically nuzzling Hoseok’s upper thigh — which is probably gross. Cause like, Hoseok is sweaty. And stuff.

Except he can’t find it in himself to complain (because Taehyung’s added weight feels oddly nice for some reason?) but he can’t let Taehyung know that, so he feigns annoyance, rolling his eyes and shaking his head.

Seeing as he’s glued to an overly large koala for the time being, he decides to look through his phone until they’re called back from their break. The fancafe and twitter are filled with comments that make him smile as he reads, spirits lifting.

Minutes later, someone from their staff asks them to regroup and get ready to go over the next segment. Sighing, Hoseok pockets his phone, preparing to nudge Taehyung awake. Except that when he glances down, he notices that his hand is in Taehyung’s hair. Huh. He doesn’t remember specifically bringing his hand down and carding it through Taehyung’s feathery locks, but apparently that’s what he’s been doing subconsciously for the past ten minutes.

Aigoo, this kid will be the death of him one day. He’s far too endearing.

Smiling, Hoseok runs his fingers softly through Taehyung’s hair a couple more times. It’s not the first time Taehyung’s fallen asleep using Hoseok’s thigh as a pillow, but he still finds it amusing.

“Taehyungie,” he whispers, “You gotta get up now. They’re calling us back.” There’s some grumbling from Taehyung as he snuggles closer, fingers digging into Hoseok’s leg with just enough pressure for him to feel it. “Taehyungie,” he tries again, cooing. He moves the (treacherous) hand that was in Taehyung’s hair to Taehyung’s jaw, tickling him just barely underneath his chin. That stirs him up right away and Taehyung tilts his head up toward Hoseok, eyes squinting as they open.

There’s something about the innocent, sleepy look on Taehyung’s face that makes Hoseok’s heart feel a little too big for his chest.

“Come on, sleepy head,” Hoseok says fondly, “Duty calls.”

Pouting, Taehyung sighs and closes his eyes. Hoseok knows Taehyung isn’t going to fall asleep again — not when the room has started to fill up with more noise as everyone starts moving around — but he tickles him again in an effort to keep him awake.

“Nugh,” Taehyung mumbles, batting Hoseok’s hand away.

Hoseok should be affronted but Taehyung looks so soft and sweet and adorable — there’s no way he can be upset with him. Instead, he leans down and presses a kiss to Taehyung’s forehead. “Taetae,” the affectionate nickname falls from his lips easily. “Babe, c’mon.” He smooths his hands down Taehyung’s hair, trying to coax him to get up.

With another sigh, Taehyung finally pulls away, sitting up and rubbing a hand down his face. Even though he slept for only a few minutes, he still somehow managed to get a crease on his cheek from lying on Hoseok’s sweatpants. Hoseok thinks it’s so freaking adorable, thinks Taehyung is so freaking adorable, and just barely resists the urge to trace the crease with his finger.

“Just a little more left,” he tells Taehyung, hoping to offer some reassurance.

Taehyung nods tiredly, forcing a smile onto his face. “Hungry,” is all he says.

Hoseok cracks a smile at that, reaching over to ruffle Taehyung’s already messy hair. “See if you can sneak in something before we begin.”

“Thanks, hyung,” Taehyung tells him, gathering up his ganging limbs and walking off.

Hoseok stares at him for a moment longer, wondering where all the time went and when Taehyung grew up so fast. Shaking his thoughts away, he moves to get up as well, but notices Yoongi staring at him with one condescending eyebrow raised.

“What?”

“Gross,” Yoongi is all says, but Hoseok has been able to see through his faux disdain for years.

Still, it makes his face heat up and a shy smile stretch across his lips.

<< 4 >>

Hoseok wishes he could just have another five minutes of sleep.

They’re on tour at the moment, traveling the world, but not quite site-seeing the areas like a tourist would. The hotel bed Hoseok’s lying on is really comfortable and the quiet patting of raindrops against the window sill is soothing. His joints ache from last night’s performance and just thinking about doing it all over again tonight makes him groan, tugging the covers over his head. But he needs to get up. He knows he needs to get up. He’s snoozed his alarm three times already — which is unlike him, because he’s pretty punctual about these things.

But the sheets smell like Taehyung, like warmth, and comfort, and safety, and home, lulling him, beckoning him to stay, to rest.

The sound of the fan running in the bathroom reaches his ears, meaning Taehyung’s awake. If he’s already up, then Hoseok really has oversleep, shit. That jolts him out of bed, albeit rather begrudgingly and not nearly as swiftly as he should. He tugs on some sweatpants he finds on the floor, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes as he waddles toward the bathroom.

The door’s open and the lights are on, but Taehyung’s not diligently getting ready like Hoseok assumed he was. Toothbrush wedged in his mouth, Taehyung stands in front of the sink, eyes closed, still asleep. He’s practically drooling, eye mask pushing up his forehead, barely keeping back his bed hair.

God, it’s so cute. Hoseok’s heart does this weird thing where it beats off center for a moment.

Slowly, he moves further into the room, more alert than when he first walked in. He comes to stand beside Taehyung and slides one hand to the small of his back, ruffling his soft pajamas. Gently, Hoseok puts his other hand on the toothbrush Taehyung is using, curling his fingers over Taehyung’s.

“Taehyung-ah,” he murmurs, steadying Taehyung when he startles. Very carefully, he takes the toothbrush out of Taehyung’s mouth, watching him struggle to open his eyes against the fluorescent lights. “Babe, what’re you doing?”

“Feel asleep,” Taehyung mumbles, toothpaste dripping out of the corner of his mouth.

His innocent answer makes Hoseok laugh, filling the bathroom with noise. Gosh, he’s so pure and precious.

“Oh, Tae,” Hoseok says dotingly, brushing away the foam on Taehyung’s bottom lip. “Hyung is here. Let’s get ready together.” Once he hands Taehyung back his toothbrush, he grabs his own, wetting it before applying some toothpaste.

Taehyung’s eyeing his reflection intently, nearly frozen again. Hoseok almost thinks he’s fallen asleep again, but realizes Taehyung’s just waiting for him so they can brush their teeth together. Goddamnit he’s too sweet.

Overcome with fondness, Hoseok leans over and presses a soft kiss to Taehyung’s temple. When he pulls away, he flashes Taehyung a bright smile, and gets one in return.

“Thanks, hyung,” Taehyung says, smiling around his toothbrush.

Hoseok just nudges their hips together and grins around his own toothbrush, feeling like he just walked out into some warm sunlight.

<< 5 >>

With Taehyung lying on top of him, arms curled tightly around his body, and head pillowed on his chest — Hoseok can’t say he’s in an uncommon situation.

If he’s being honest, he doesn’t quite remember how they got into this position. One minute Taehyung was begging him to come cuddle on the couch and watch a movie, and the next he’s got a Taehyung octopus wrapped around him — not that he’s exactly complaining, but... he just wants to go to sleep and the couch pales in comparison to his bed.

So he nudges Taehyung, hoping to rouse him, except Taehyung only snuggles closer, practically nuzzling Hoseok, and makes the cutest noise in his sleep.

It’s so goddamn adorable, Hoseok can’t even try to fight off the fond smile that breaks across his own face at the sound.

Why does he always get stuck with a cute, sleeping Taehyung? It should be a crime to wake up someone so adorable.

But Hoseok’s bed is so much more comfortable than this couch. They really need to move.

Calling Taehyung’s name softly, Hoseok lifts a hand up to pet his hair. Damn, it’s so soft, Hoseok’s fingers naturally start running through it. “Taehyung-ah,” he coos, rubbing his other hand down Taehyung’s back, rumbling his hoodie. “Tae, come on.”

Finally, there’s some stirring and Taehyung grumbles something that sounds suspiciously like, “don’t wanna.”

Hoseok chuckles fondly, fingers still carding through Taehyung’s hair. “Wouldn’t you rather sleep in a bed?”

Taehyung lifts his head up just enough to flash Hoseok a cheeky grin. “Hyung is comfy enough,” he says, plopping right back down on Hoseok’s chest.

“Aish,” Hoseok scolds, tugging on Taehyung’s hair a little harder this time. “Hyung is going to push you off and then you’ll be sleeping on the floor.”

Clutching Hoseok tighter Taehyung mutters, “You love me too much to do that.”

And, well. There’s no lie in that statement that’s for sure.

“Just because hyung loves you doesn’t mean he can’t punish you,” Hoseok reminds him, pinching Taehyung’s side to prove his point.

Only that makes Taehyung squirm and giggle. Ugh. Too fucking cute.

“Hyung, that’s not even a punishment,” Taehyung retorts, raising his head to look up at Hoseok. He already looks so damn soft and sleepy, but the dim lights in the room cast these soft shadows around his face, making him look 10 times more adorable.

Hoseok’s hand settles on the small of Taehyung’s back. “Then, what kind of punishment should you receive?”

“A kiss.” It could just be the light playing tricks, but Taehyung’s eyes almost look hooded.

“A kiss?” Hoseok asks, a little incredulous.

Sure almost all of them have had to kiss each other as punishment before — hell, Hoseok and Taehyung had to share a kiss on Rookie King (and almost kissed on that one episode of BTS Gayo). It doesn’t even take a rocket scientist to see that was Taehyung’s first kiss. Poor baby was so nervous, Hoseok still remembers how Taehyung’s lips trembled against his, how smudged his lipstick was after they pulled away.

Now that he thinks about, he distinctly remembers Yoongi smashing their faces together while everyone else laughed their ass off. Those motherfuckers.

“You know,” Taehyung murmurs, crossing his arms across Hoseok’s chest and placing his chin on top of them, staring up at Hoseok with these big, curious eyes. “You weren’t all that impressive last time.”

Ouch. Well that’s a blow to Hoseok’s pride, even though he knows Taehyung’s teasing. That smirk on his lips isn’t helping either dammit.

“Oh, really?” Hoseok challenges, raising an eyebrow. “I didn’t hear you complaining before.”

Taehyung shrugs as best he can while lying down. “Didn’t want to hurt your feelings.”

Hoseok barks out a laugh at the comment. “And now it’s okay to hurt my feelings?”

As for Taehyung’s response, the boy just smiles.

“Aish,” Hoseok mumbles. His hand comes back up to Taehyung’s head, fingers combing through Taehyung’s hair. “You’re lucky you’re cute.”

“Cute enough to kiss?” Taehyung asks, looking almost hopeful.

Damn, what’s with this kid? It’s not that Hoseok minds, not exactly. He’s very affectionate with his members and gives them little kisses all the time. Everyone knows this. But the kisses aren’t usually on the lips, and that’s where Taehyung seems to want it.

“Only if you promise to get off me and go to bed,” Hoseok compromises.

Taehyung nods rapidly, and Hoseok sighs, tugging him down and closing his eyes when their lips touch.

It’s not bad, not like the kiss on Rookie King was. There’s no pressure, no cameras or speculators, which makes it… nice. If Hoseok’s being honest, it almost feels intimate in a way, having all of Taehyung’s attention and — though that part’s not entirely new — it’s different this time.

Slowly, he relaxes, sinking into the cushions, becoming pliant beneath Taehyung. He opens his mouth and softly sucks on Taehyung’s upper lip, and then his bottom lip when he makes a deep, appreciative sound.

Maybe it should be alarming how easily Taehyung wedges himself between Hoseok’s thighs, how effortlessly Hoseok spreads his legs to accommodate him — but Taehyung isn’t a stranger and this isn’t something new, not entirely at least. The kiss is certainly a new addition, but everything else doesn’t feel different. They’ve snuggled in similar positions before, and Hoseok has always sort of loved the feeling of Taehyung’s weight on top of him, how safe and secure he feels underneath him.

He doesn’t have to second guess himself around Taehyung, doesn’t have to put on a facade. It probably sounds cliche to say, but everything comes so naturally when he’s around Taehyung, and it’s so liberating not having to second guess himself to stay in character.

Gently, Taehyung props himself up on an elbow and cups Hoseok’s jaw, angling his face for a deeper kiss, one with tongue. Hoseok nearly sighs at how good it feels, tipping his head back and following Taehyung’s lead. His fingers grab onto Taehyung’s shoulders, tugging him down and bringing their bodies closer. As he feels one of his legs sliding off the couch, he starts to wrap it around Taehyung, but Taehyung’s quicker, sliding a warm hand underneath Hoseok’s thighs and hiking it up around his waist. Fingers still curled around Hoseok’s leg, Taehyung leans forward, pressing his body against Hoseok’s, coaxing a gasp out of him, body arching into the touch.

(Is it crazy that Hoseok can’t remember the last time someone made him feel this good?)

Hoseok’s hands can’t seem to stop moving, sliding up and down Taehyung’s back, running through his hair, wanting to feel every part of him. Taehyung starts to kiss him more frantically, like he’s trying to finish a race but is running out of time, panting against Hoseok’s lips and rolling his hips down. Grabbing a hold of Taehyung’s hoodie, Hoseok tries to keep up, but even he gets lost in it, melting into the kiss.

But then, it all stops in an instant.

Gasping, Taehyung pulls away, backing up like he’s been burned. Hoseok barely has the time to register the look of guilt on Taehyung’s face before he schools it into shock. “H-hyung,” he stammers, eyes wide and dark, retreating to the other side of the couch. There’s a dash of pink to his cheeks, but whether the flush is from making out or from being embarrassed by it, Hoseok can’t tell. His breath is labored, chest rising and falling heavily, hair tousled from Hoseok brushing his fingers through it. Hoodie wrinkled, Taehyung sits with a hunched back, eyes darting between Hoseok and the floor.

Hoseok’s acutely aware of his own stained breathing, the insistent pounding of his heartbeat echoing in his ears, the heat on his cheeks, the throbbing between his legs. Out of curiosity, his gaze strays toward Taehyung’s lap, but Taehyung notices and draw his legs up, pjs crinkling as he tucks his legs against his chest and wraps his arms around his thighs as if it’ll hide anything. It’s pointless, really. The touch of his fingers still remains on Hoseok’s thigh. The spot where Hoseok felt him against his hip burns.

“Hyung,” Taehyung says, soft and quiet, “Hyung, I’m — I’m sorry. I — I shouldn’t have — ” his voice rises, panicked, and he cuts himself off, averting his eyes once more. “I shouldn’t have done that. I’m sorry.”

The thing is, Hoseok doesn’t know what Taehyung’s apologizing for, let alone why he’s apologizing. He’s still in a daze. The ghost of Taehyung’s kiss lingers on his lips. He runs his tongue over them, remembering how imploring Taehyung’s kisses were, how Taehyung pinned him against the couch, how he’d held on and tugged Taehyung closer.

Lying there with his knees bent and his shirt pulled up to his stomach, it dawns on Hoseok that he never stopped Taehyung, never pushed him away. He just… kept kissing him, kept caressing his body.

“Hyung, I — ” Taehyung tries again, choking over his words and stopping to catch his breath. Hoseok watches him visibly shallow, hugging his legs tighter before he opens his mouth to speak again. “I’m sorry.”

“Stop apologizing,” Hoseok tells him, hating how crestfallen Taehyung looks, how dejected he sounds, how guilty he feels about it. Gathering himself up, Hoseok sits up, pushing his shirt down and tucking a leg underneath him. Taehyung watches him with wide, fearful eyes and Hoseok needs to tell him it’s okay, needs to reassure him. “There’s nothing — there’s nothing to apologize for. You asked for a kiss and I gave you one. It’s — you didn’t do anything wrong.”

Taehyung looks so small huddled in on himself, a pout gracing his lips. “But hyung,” he mumbles, picking at his pj bottoms, “You didn’t want it. You just went along for my sake. You didn’t — didn’t push me away when I came onto you.”

Did he? Hoseok doesn’t think so. He tries to recall if he felt uncomfortable during their heated moment, but all he remembers is how his body opened up to Taehyung, how he welcomed every touch, how desperately he returned Taehyung’s kisses, as if he was starving for them.

It didn’t feel like Taehyung took advantage of him. How could he when Hoseok reveled every second of it. No, it was mutual. It was more than just mutual, Hoseok enjoyed it, craved it. He was disappointed when it ended so abruptly. So what does that say about him? That he relished kissing Taehyung.

“Taehyung, you — you didn’t do anything wrong,” Hoseok repeats, kind of a loss for words as he tries to make sense of what that means for him.

“Really?” Taehyung breathes, eyes wide with bewilderment this time. “So you… you liked it?”

Flushed, Hoseok scratches the back of his neck, unable to meet Taehyung’s curious gaze. He could play it off, pretend like he still isn’t thinking about it, like he hasn’t been silently hoping for a repeat since they pulled away, but what good would that do. He’s never been much of a liar anyway. “Yeah,” he admits, “Yeah, it was nice.”

The grin that stretches across Taehyung’s face is infectious. “So do you, like, like me?”

“Do you like me?”

“Well,” Taehyung shrinks back into himself, eyes on his knees. “Um, yeah?” He peeks up at Hoseok, an unsure expression on his face, looking at him as if he’s got the answer to his question. When Hoseok doesn’t say anything, Taehyung glances down at his hands and shrugs, fiddling with his fingers. “Yeah, I’ve kind of always liked you. That’s why I — like,” he waves a hand through the air, almost frustrated, “Nearly forced myself on you.”

“You didn’t,” Hoseok reassures him, reaching out to touch him. “I told you, it wasn’t unwanted.”

“But I didn’t know that,” Taehyung stresses, voice going tight, “God, I feel so stupid for making it escalate like that. I’m so selfish.”

“You’re not,” Hoseok says gently, rubbing a hand up and down Taehyung’s arm. Witnessing a sad Taehyung is worse than a sleepy one. “I liked it. I wanted it.”

Taehyung’s shocked eyes lock with his. “You did?”

“Uh,” Hoseok backtracks, feeling his face heat up under Taehyung’s optimistic gaze. “I wouldn’t say I’ve been wanting something like that to happen. Like, I haven’t been fantasizing about it or anything like that.” Not like you, Hoseok thinks as he sees the obvious hurt that settles across Taehyung’s face. “But,” he adds, biting back a smile as hope filters across Taehyung’s eyes just from that one word. “Even though I wasn’t actively wishing for it to happen, doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it when it did. I really did like it, Tae. Hell, I wanted to keep going.”

“Oh my god, really?” Taehyung gasps, too excited for his own good.

Chuckling, Hoseok ruffles Taehyung’s hair. “Yeah, really.”

“So do you…” sucking in a deep breath, Taehyung lifts his hopeful gaze up toward Hoseok. “Do you think that maybe you do like me?”

That puts Hoseok on the fence. Does he like Taehyung like that?

If he kissed anyone else like that would he feel the same way? He tries to picture someone else in Taehyung’s place — one of his band members — but it’s not the same. Seokjin is a humorous hyung, one who Hoseok loves joking around with and helping learn choreography, so kissing him would feel weird. Yoongi is a hyung who calms him and even though his personality compliments his very well, kissing him would probably feel a little strange. Namjoon is a friend Hoseok has respected and admired for a long time, someone who’s greatly influenced his life. But he doesn’t feel any attraction toward him. Jimin is a lovable dongsaeng, hardworking unlike any other, but the most Hoseok wants to do with him is smother him with love and praise. Jungkook is a precious dongsaeng, their wonderful, golden maknae, deserving of all the affection in the world. And yet, Hoseok doesn’t feel anything but platonic love for him.

If any of them had kissed him, he would’ve pulled away. So how come he didn’t stop Taehyung?

Does he like Taehyung like that?

Thousands of memories flash through his mind. Massaging Taehyung’s legs after a long day of promotions. Jumping onto Taehyung’s back and wishing him Happy Birthday. Holding a churro between their mouths and giggling for the camera. Pulling back the covers and letting Taehyung crawl into bed with him after a nightmare. Staying close to him as they walk through the airport. Hyping each other up during a concert. Wiping milk off the corner of Taehyung’s lip.

Does he like Taehyung like that?

Whenever Hoseok pictured himself falling for someone, it was always this Grand Spectual. It seemed like there would be this defining moment when he just knew he was in love, and it would be clear and precise and it would change his life forever. He thought falling in love would kind of be like receiving a nomination for an award, doubting you’re going to get it and then being shocked when you hear you won.

But it doesn’t feel like that right now. There’s no light bulb going off in his head, no huge blinking signs alerting him to a newfound realization.

It feels like coming home after a long trip, walking through your front door, and seeing your phone automatically hook up to the wifi. It’s instant relief and happiness and comfort. No more worrying about going over your data and having to pay extra. No more searching for FREE WIFI signs everywhere you go. You’re home.

That’s how Hoseok feels when he’s with Taehyung. Like he’s coming home, to safely, to warmth, to love.

And realizing this doesn’t feel like an awakening or an epiphany like he always thought it might. Instead, it feels like getting on a bike after years of not using one and naturally remembering how to ride without having to relearn.

“I — ” the words catch in Hoseok’s throat, realization settling in. “Yeah, I… I think I like you too.”

“Really?” Taehyung’s eyes are impossibly wide with disbelief.

“Yeah,” Hoseok says slowly, coming to terms with the truth. “Yeah,” he repeats, more firmly this time, nodding and smiling, feeling mushy all over. “Yeah, I like like you.”

Surging forward, Taehyung grabs his face and kisses him. Hoseok barely has a chance to react before Taehyung backs off, cheeks bright red and looking sheepish. “Sorry. Probably should’ve asked first.”

Chuckling, Hoseok cups the back of his neck and draws him in for a kiss they’re both a little more prepared for. He sighs when their lips touch, as if they’ve been apart for a long time. “You’re more than welcome,” he breathes against Taehyung’s mouth, “to kiss me whenever you like.” Giddy with love and beaming from ear to ear, he kisses him again, because he can, because he wants to.

Taehyung makes a noise resembling a whine and kisses Hoseok back, parting his lips to start a deeper kiss. An arm winds around Hoseok’s waist, tugging him closer, but all he feels is Taehyung’s knees poking him. Carefully, he pulls Taehyung’s legs away from his chest so that he’s sitting properly again. That doesn’t seem to sit well with Taehyung though, who keeps tugging Hoseok closer insistently. Huffing a breath, Hoseok goes to pull away, but Taehyung chases his lips, tighten his grip on Hoseok’s waist.

“Jesus — just — ” Hoseok manages to wriggle away from him, trying not to take Taehyung’s pout to heart. It falls off the moment he gets up and swings a leg over Taehyung’s thighs, settling into his lap. Taehyung’s hands land on his hips in an instant, steadying him. Hoseok wonders what he must look like for Taehyung to stare up at him so desirably, lust lidded eyes watching him closely.

Grasping the back of Taehyung’s neck, he leans down and presses their lips together. Taehyung kisses him feverishly from the start, slipping his tongue into Hoseok’s mouth and making him moan. Deliberately, Hoseok smooths a hand down Taehyung’s chest, feeling his chest rise and fall beneath his palm. Taehyung’s body isn’t as toned as his is, but that doesn’t mean he can’t appreciate it. He’s especially fond of the soft skin around Taehyung’s stomach, but he thinks if he mentions that right now it might ruin the mood.

Sliding his hand back up, Hoseok tangles in it Taehyung’s hair, lightly tugging his head back and letting it fall against the back of the couch. Taehyung groans as their lips separate, pulling Hoseok forward by his hips. Hoseok snickers at his desperation and presses a thumb against his jaw, tilting his face to the side. “Relax,” he whispers, dipping down to plant a kiss beneath Taehyung’s ear. He trails kisses across Taehyung’s jaw, sucking at his skin in some places and making his hips buck. “There’s no need to rush,” Hoseok tells him, placing a hand on Taehyung’s shoulder in hopes of calming him down a bit.

“I can’t help it,” Taehyung whines, leaning forward to capture Hoseok’s lips in a kiss. He sneaks his hands under Hoseok’s shirt, warm fingers touching all the places that make Hoseok squirm. “I want you so bad,” Taehyung murmurs, eyebrows furrowed like it pains him to admit it. His thumbs stoke the sensitive skin right above Hoseok’s waistband, applying just enough pressure to cause his hips to twitch. Licking his lips, Taehyung meets Hoseok’s gaze, dark eyes pleading. “Can I touch you?”

Hoseok's not hard yet, but he has no doubt Taehyung will help him get there in no time. Nodding, he drags his pants down, reaching into his briefs to take his cock out. Just getting a hand around himself feels amazing, making him groan, fingers digging into Taehyung’s shoulder. “Fuck,” he sighs, breath coming out harsher as he starts to jerk off, feeling more turned on as Taehyung watches him. “Come on,” he says, getting up on his knees so he can pull his pants lower. With Taehyung’s help, he shoves his pants and underwear down his legs, leaving them bunched around his knees.

Truthfully, he’s always been a little self-conscious of his dick, considering he’s more of a grower rather than a shower, but with Taehyung’s large hand enveloping him, he wonders if his full length will even measure up. Which is ridiculous, he knows, because there’s no way in hell his dick can compare to Taehyung’s obscene 20 cm hands, but his brain still goes there. It’s stupid to think that Taehyung will look at him any differently, especially when he’s staring at his dick like it’s the greatest thing he’s seen in his life. His gaze is so ravenous Hoseok blushes, averting his own eyes elsewhere for a moment.

Suddenly, Taehyung stops his movements and looks up at him. “We’re not moving too fast are we?”

He’s got his hands on Hoseok’s dick and he’s asking if they’re moving too fast.

Chuckling, Hoseok grabs his face and presses their lips together, smiling into the kiss. “I dunno, do you think we’re moving too fast?”

“Not really,” Taehyung hedges, toying with the head of Hoseok’s dick in a way that makes his knees buckle. “I mean… I already know like, almost everything about you, and I’ve met your friends and family. So, I guess we can kinda skip the whole ‘getting to know each other’ part of dating and jump into sex?” His voice rises in pitch as he talks, so high he nearly squeaks out the last word. It makes Hoseok chuckle again. “I really like you,” Taehyung tells him, fondling his balls and making it hard for him to think. Shit, that feels really good. “But I don't know how you feel and I don’t want to assume and rush into things like I did before.”

“Babe, I told you already,” Hoseok says softly, gently prying Taehyung’s hands away so he can get through a full sentence without embarrassing himself by whimpering. He intertwines their fingers together and bends down to kiss Taehyung, to reassure him. Drawing back after a moment, Hoseok looks down at him. Dear god the pouty, quizzical expression on his face is far too cute. “I like you,” Hoseok tells him sincerely, brushing his thumbs over Taehyung’s knuckles. “I really, really like you. And I know it’s taken me a long time to realize it — ”

“Centuries,” Taehyung adds in, smiling shyly.

“But,” Hoseok stresses, unable to hold his own smile back. He sucks in a breath, feeling his heart hammer a little faster in his chest as he formulates his next words. Christ, he’s kneeling in front of Taehyung with his pants around his knees and his dick out and he’s able to say something sappy, fuck it all. “But that doesn’t mean I don’t like you any less — because let me tell you, I’ve got a big, fat, gross crush on you, Kim Taehyung.”

“Shut up,” Taehyung mumbles, the tips of his ears blushing.

Hoseok squeezes their hands. “Whatever you want — if it’s to kiss behind closed doors, or put a label on ourselves — I’m game. I don’t want to push you either. This is all probably new for you too.” Biting his lip, he decides to be brave and speak his mind. “You’re my wings, Taehyungie. You lift me up and help me get through challenges that come my way. I feel like I’m floating above the clouds when I’m with you. You calm my worries and ease my doubts. Every day’s a blessing with you. So, whatever you want, I’m all in.”

Taehyung brings their laced fingers up to his lips and kisses Hoseok’s hands. “I want to call you my boyfriend,” he admits, flashes Hoseok a hesitant smile.

The title shouldn’t make Hoseok’s heart do a silly little somersault, but it does. “I’d like that,” he confesses, carefully sinking down into Taehyung’s lap to avoid the hardon in his pjs. (Jesus, how was he able to keep it up all this time?) “I’d like to be your boyfriend.”

“Can I give my boyfriend a kiss then?” Taehyung asks, a cheeky grin tugging at the corner of his mouth.

Hoseok thinks giving him what he wants is a better answer than a verbal one. He tugs his hands out of Taehyung’s and throws his arms around Taehyung’s neck instead, pulling him closer and opening his mouth to Taehyung’s tongue. When soft hands slide over his bare hips to rest at the small of his back, Hoseok arches into the touch, grinding down a little on Taehyung’s thigh.

“Hyung,” Taehyung groans, gasping as Hoseok rolls his hips again — purposefully this time.

“Yes?” Hoseok teases, breaking away to trail kisses down Taehyung’s throat. The only reply he gets is a sudden hand on his dick. “Jesus,” he hisses, nipping Taehyung’s skin in retaliation. “Warm a guy will ya.”

Taehyung just chuckles, long fingers stroking Hoseok to full hardness again. “Sorry, hyung.” His unoccupied hand drifts toward the curve of Hoseok’s ass, fingers softly rubbing his skin. Tentatively, he grabs a handful and squeezes, but because he’s so careful about it, it doesn’t elicit much of a reaction from Hoseok.

“You have to do it harder,” Hoseok mutters, “And it usually feels better when you do it with both hands.”

Taehyung slides his hand back down to join his other hand on Hoseok’s dick. He sounds bashful when he says, “Maybe next time.”

Hoseok tucks a smile into Taehyung’s neck for a moment. Maybe next time. God, why does that make him feel so happy?

To distract himself from his sappy feelings, he sucks on Taehyung’s pulse point, earning him a pleased moan. He knows he can’t leave any marks, but that doesn’t mean he can’t press open-mouthed kisses along the column of Taehyung’s throat until he’s squirming underneath him.

“H-hyung.” Taehyung chokes on a whine, hips twitching as he tries to hump Hoseok’s thigh.

“A little — a little tighter,” he tells Taehyung as he starts to lose focus, grip loosening. Hoseok wishes they had some lube nearby to add for a smoother slide, but this’ll have to do for now. He pauses his maneuvers and glances down at his lap, watching Taehyung work his hands in tight circles. The sight alone is enough to make him groan, eyes rolling back in pleasure. “Twist — ” Hoseok grasps Taehyung’s wrist to show him. “Twist your hand when you go up.”

Taehyung tries to follow Hoseok’s directions, but flounders, can’t seem to get the movement down — probably because he’s unused to doing it on someone else. “I’m sorry. It’s just — kinda weird from this angle.”

“Don’t apologize,” Hoseok whispers, smiling as he dips down to capture Taehyung's lips in a kiss. “You’re doing really well. It feels good.”

“Yeah?” Taehyung murmurs, hooded eyes flickering down to Hoseok’s mouth.

Hoseok indulges him with a deeper kiss. “Mhm. Are you okay? Do you want me to touch you?”

“Yes,” Taehyung keens, like he’s being waiting all night for Hoseok to ask him.

Snickering, Hoseok reaches for Taehyung’s pj bottoms. He doesn’t touch him right away though. Instead, he palms him slowly, dragging the heel of his hand over Taehyung's clothed dick.

Hips jerking, Taehyung moans, “Oh, fuck.”

It’s the first time Hoseok’s heard him swear since they started and the roughness in his voice makes him shiver. Gently, he pulls back Taehyung’s pjs and takes out his dick.

Taehyung lets out a whine the second Hoseok touches him, finally getting the relief he’s been seeking. “God,” he pants, lips parted and forehead gleamed with sweat. His dick is long and thick and Hoseok’s mouth waters a little just looking at it.

Hoseok knew Taehyung was long, but this is… “Shit, you’re huge,” he whispers, slowly wrapping his fingers around Taehyung’s dick.

Face red from the praise, Taehyung clutches Hoseok’s forearm. “Hyung, don’t,” he gasps, but contradicts himself by thrusting into Hoseok’s fist. “I’m — I’m gonna come.”

“Already?” Surprised by the remark, Hoseok leans over to kiss him again, quickly becoming addicted to his lips.

“Yeah,” Taehyung mumbles, a glazed sort of look in his eyes. “You’re so hot. Got me — got me so hard.”

Chuckling, Hoseok smacks one more kiss to Taehyung’s lips. “Alright, I’ll go slower so you can last a little longer. But you gotta go faster so I can catch up.”

“Okay, hyung,” Taehyung replies, immediately jacking Hoseok off with increased speed.

“Yeah — yeah, that’s good,” Hoseok moans, bucking into Taehyung’s hands. God, he has such lovely fingers. Such a lovely dick too. And an amazing personality to boot, damn. Is Hoseok sure he’s not in love already? “Oh fuck, don’t stop.”

“Hyung, can you kiss me?”

Hoseok puts his free hand on the curve between Taehyung’s neck and shoulder, and bends down to kiss him, thumb gently stroking his throat. He tries to control the kiss and keep his movements measured but Taehyung is already falling apart beneath him, panting into his mouth. His hips keep twitching with the urge to fuck into Hoseok’s hand despite Hoseok keeping an idle pace. Although he said he needs more time, Hoseok can already feel his orgasm building, body being pulled tight with tension.

“Fuck.” Taehyung sucks in a sharp breath, hand flying over Hoseok’s dick. “Hyung, I’m gonna come, fuck.”

“Me too,” Hoseok tells him, easing back so he can watch Taehyung fall apart.

His body trembles when he comes, hips sputtering, a string of meshed oh fuck oh fuck’s falling from his lips. Remembering at the last second, Hoseok shoves Taehyung’s hoodie up so he spills over his stomach rather than on it. Slowly, he tugs Taehyung through his orgasm, eyes raking over his body, until he’s spent. He can barely keep his eyes open nevermind maintain a closed fist around Hoseok’s dick. So Hoseok saves him the trouble and pushes his hands away, wrapping his own fingers around his hard-on instead. Quickly, he jacks off, holding off a shiver when he notices Taehyung watching him.

“Can I come on you?” he asks him, panting, reaching down to stroke his balls with his free hand.

“Y-y-yeah,” Taehyung says, shakily pushing his hoodie further up.

“Jesus,” Hoseok groans, long and low, grabbing onto Taehyung's forearm as he comes undone. He aims for Taehyung’s stomach, but some of it shoots up to Taehyung’s chest. Shuddering, he slumps in Taehyung’s lap, dropping his forehead to Taehyung’s shoulder.

“Shit,” Taehyung murmurs, catching his breath. He runs his fingers lazily up and down Hoseok’s bare thighs, making him shiver.

Hoseok watches him halfheartedly, arms and legs feeling like jello after his orgasm rushed through him. Sleepily, he watches Taehyung drag a finger through the mess on his stomach, spreading it around while this dopey, lopsided grin stretches across his lips. “Come on,” he says, pulling himself up off Taehyung’s lap. He shrugs out of his pants and underwear, bunching them up and holding them under his arm. “Let’s wash that off.”

If Taehyung was reluctant to move when Hoseok woke him up, then he seems dead set on not moving after coming. He looks even more sleepier than before, though twice as happy and sated.

“Tae, come on,” Hoseok urges, feeling vulnerable as he stands naked from the waist down in their living room. He reaches over and tugs on Taehyung’s hoodie, careful not to let it touch the come smeared across his body. “Let’s get this off so it’s not ruined.”

Taehyung complies, albeit unhurriedly, and then takes off his pjs and boxers while Hoseok tucks the hoodie into the bundle of clothes he’s carrying. The next time he looks up Taehyung is standing beside him completely naked, come starting to drying on his stomach and chest. The sight has Hoseok’s dick perking up in interest.

“Come on,” he repeats, shaking off the images that flood through his brain.

The dorm is quiet as they sneak into the closest bathroom. Hoseok floods the room with light and locks the door after he closes it behind them. When he turns around, his eyes land on Taehyung’s reflection in the mirror. Because it’s brighter in the bathroom, Hoseok can precisely see how swollen Taehyung’s lips are, how disheveled his hair looks, how flushed his face still is, how his neck remains red from his unrelenting kisses.

They meet each other’s eyes in the mirror and immediately glance away, embarrassed. Hoseok didn’t get a chance to look at himself, but he figures he looks more or less like Taehyung. He catches Taehyung stepping up towards the sink to wash the come off and remembers the other reason he wanted to come to the bathroom. Gathering up his and Taehyung’s clothes, he walks around Taehyung to toss them into the hamper by the shower.

With the only sound coming from the running of water, Hoseok feels the tension settle into the room. But when he glances up at the mirror and sees Taehyung smiling to himself, his body relaxes, a smile forming on his own lips. Taehyung’s eyes flicker up, but once he notices Hoseok studying him, he quickly looks back down, smile widening. He bites his bottom lip and then sneaks another glance at Hoseok, before tilting his head down again and focusing on washing his stomach.

“What?” Hoseok asks, curiosity getting the best of him. “Why do you keep looking at me like that?”

“I dunno,” Taehyung mumbles, shoulders rising and falling in a shrug. “Just can’t believe we really did that. Feels surreal to be honest. I’m like, waiting to be woken up and told it was all a dream.”

“Believe it,” Hoseok tells him, “You’re my boyfriend.”

Taehyung blushes, even his ears turn red, still avoiding Hoseok’s gaze. Suddenly, he turns around and flicks water at Hoseok, like he needs to do something in retaliation to being flustered.

Hoseok stands there for a second, too stunned to move, and then he springs into action, leaning forward to wet his fingers and flick some water back at Taehyung. That starts an all out war as they splash water at each other, their giggles filling the room.

Eventually, Taehyung corners Hoseok against the wall, grinning wildly as he grabs Hoseok’s wrists. Hoseok’s breathless from laughing and trying to dodge Taehyung in the confined room, but simmers down in Taehyung’s grasp, smiling up at him. The atmosphere between them turns into something more sober as Taehyung’s gaze drops down to Hoseok’s lips. Hoseok watches the hesitation filter across Taehyung’s face for a moment before he dips down. He smiles when Taehyung’s lips touch his, sighing into the warm kiss. He could certainly get used to this.

As Taehyung’s grips loosens, he tugs free and cups Taehyung’s neck, tilting his head as he opens his mouth. Taehyung’s arms wrap around him, one coming to rest against his hip while the other one settles on the small of his back. It feels so nice he can’t help but arch into the touch, bringing their bodies closer together.

Belatedly, he realizes they’re both fully naked and making out in the bathroom.

Taehyung backs him up against wall, hands wandering over Hoseok’s ass and thighs, becoming more insistent. “Take a shower with me,” he murmurs, breaking the kiss to mouth at Hoseok’s jaw.

Honestly, Hoseok would drop to his knees right now if Taehyung asked him to. He’s that whipped. But he can’t have his dongsaeng knowing that. So he tries to act coy and pretend as if he isn’t three seconds away from agreeing. “And why would I do that?”

Too bad Taehyung smiles down at him like he can see through his bluff. Shit. He puts both hands on Hoseok’s ass and squeezes, smirking when Hoseok fails to stifle a treacherous sound. Damn, Taehyung is a fast learner.

“Cause your boyfriend is asking you nicely,” Taehyung replies, nearly batting his eyelashes.

Unable to take him seriously, Hoseok chuckles and caves him. “Okay,” he says, kissing Taehyung again, though it’s mostly just him grinning stupidly against Taehyung’s lips.

Being with Taehyung makes him feel so young and free, like the concept of time doesn’t exist and it’s just the two of them suspended in this moment. He would love for that to become a recurring feeling in his life.

Taehyung’s hands drift down to the back of Hoseok’s thighs, cupping them with purpose. Hoseok’s surprised by Taehyung’s request but indulges him nevertheless, jumping up into Taehyung’s arms. He’s even more surprised that Taehyung barely struggles, easily hooking his arms underneath his ass and pressing him against the wall. “Shit, when did you get so strong?”

“Why?” Taehyung asks, a smirk back in place. “Does it turn you on?”

Red from embarrassment, Hoseok gives him a kiss instead of answering. He has a feeling Taehyung’s going to discover all of his kinks in no time.

And he can’t wait.

It’s early in the morning when Hoseok stirs awake.

He opens his eyes to a dimly lit room, blinking at his surroundings. Taehyung and Jimin’s bunk bed stares back at him so he must be in their shared bedroom. Someone’s spooning him from behind, arms wrapped tightly around his middle.

Huh, he doesn’t remember falling asleep here, especially with someone else.

What’s even more strange is that his alarm didn’t wake him up. The feeling of someone’s lips against his neck did.

For a moment, he tries to wiggle out of the hold he’s in, but then the open-mouthed kisses start to feel familiar and that’s when the events from last night come back to him. Slowly, he’s remind of how he made out with Taehyung, how they jerked each other off on the couch, how they got off again in the shower before climbing into his bed and falling asleep.

Perhaps what should be unnerving is how calm he is about the whole ordeal, how he doesn’t find it shocking. That’s not to say this was something he expected or planned for, but that he isn’t entirely surprised nor alarmed by the events that transpired last night. His feelings for Taehyung have always been deep-rooted, subconscious sometimes, and maybe it was a matter of time before they were brought to the surface.

But he doesn’t feel any different. There aren’t a thousand fluttering butterflies in his stomach when Taehyung presses a firm, close-lipped kiss against the nape of his neck — just the usual handful, softly flapping their wings. Maybe that should be an affirmation that this isn’t just some puppy love, that his feelings aren’t the cause of a silly infatuation. His feelings run deeper. They’re all encompassing, a byproduct of love piling up in his heart overtime.

Warmth floods through his body when he thinks about it, like sinking into a bath after a long day of working.

Smiling, he slides a palm down to where Taehyung’s hands rest against his stomach, squeezing Taehyung’s fingers. “Morning,” he mumbles, relaxing in Taehyung’s arms and carefully slotting his fingers between Taehyung’s.

“Hey,” Taehyung murmurs, voice low and deep, breath fanning out against Hoseok’s neck, making him shiver. He hugs Hoseok tighter, tugging him closer, nosing the back of his neck.

“How’d you sleep?” Hoseok asks, tilting his head back to glance over his shoulder, and then rolls onto his back.

Taehyung’s rectangular smile is as beautiful as always. “I always sleep good with you.” He leans over and kisses Hoseok on the lips, inhaling sharply when their lips touch, like he can’t believe he can do this — because he has been waiting for this, hoping for them to get together for who knows how long.

Hoseok has to remind himself that just because he wasn’t, his feelings aren’t any less valid or real. He’s glad they’re on the same page now though.

“What time is it?” he asks, turning his face away so he doesn’t hit Taehyung with morning breath, but Taehyung just dips down and kisses his jaw.

“We’ve got time,” Taehyung says, sucking distracting, soft kisses along Hoseok’s throat.

“That doesn’t — doesn’t answer my question,” he says, stuttering as Taehyung’s wicked tongue works over his pulse point.

“We’ve got time,” Taehyung repeats, voice muffled as he moves his hand toward Hoseok’s groin.

Hoseok almost resolves to let himself enjoy whatever Taehyung has planned when a voice pops up from the other side of the room. “No you don’t.”

Taehyung’s freezes against him and Hoseok sucks in a breath, suddenly much more awake than he was a few seconds ago. The two of them peek over at the lump of blankets on the lower bunk bed that starts to move. They watch as Jimin turns around begrudgingly and fixes them a death glare.

“First,” he starts off, looking pissed off as all hell, “You woke me up last night when you came in late. Then, you spent an hour whispering and giggling, keeping me even more awake. And now you wake me up again at the ass crack of dawn because you’re being gross. No.” He throws the covers off roughly and sits up. “No, this stops now. Usually you’re not so bad, but the past eight hours have been more than I can handle.”

Hoseok starts at Jimin agape, surprised by his outburst, but then again, he has been almost entirely focused on Taehyung since last night and forgotten the outside world exists.

“Jimin,” Taehyung says, something coy slipping into his voice, “If you wanted to join, all you had to do is ask.”

“Taehyung!” Hoseok turns his wide eyes on him.

“Ugh,” Jimin groans, gathering up the sheets around his body. “Can’t even reason with you two.”

Taehyung laughs as he walks out of the room, but Hoseok is still too shocked to do anything but smack Taehyung’s chest. “Tae!”

“What?” Taehyung acts innocent, curling his arms around Hoseok like he hopes it’ll placid him. “I was just joking. I don’t want Jimin like that.”

“Well… okay,” Hoseok mumbles, “Good. Because,” he pauses, wondering why it never hit him before. “Because I would rather not share you. Unless, you like, don’t wanna be tied down or something. Then I guess we can talk about it, but — ”

“Don’t worry, hyung,” Taehyung reassures him, nuzzling his neck again. “I want you all for myself.” He rubs Hoseok’s stomach like he’s a baby that needs to be coddled. It kind of feels nice. “My own little Hobi-hyung.”

“Yah,” Hoseok interjets, nudging Taehyung in the ribs. “I’m older than you.”

“But still shorter,” Taehyung reminds him, “And, like.” He pokes at Hoseok’s barely-shaped love handles. “You’re so soft but like, compact too. Sometimes I just wanna — squeeze you.” He demonstrates this actually, hugging Hoseok tightly around the waist, pressing his face up against Hoseok’s throat. “My cute, little hyung,” he murmurs, nearly purring. “Cute and sweet and kind and caring and hard working and — ”

“Okay,” Hoseok interrupts him, feeling his face heat up from the onslaught of compliments.

“And hot,” Taehyung adds, “So freaking hot, man.” He slides a hand up and down Hoseok’s toned abdomen, humming appreciatively. “So sexy when you dance too, so focused and in your element.” Groaning, he sucks a kiss to Hoseok neck, making his breath hitch. “But my favorite part about you is…”

And suddenly there are fingers digging into his armpit, tickling him and making him burst into laughter. He squirms away, instinctively, and thankfully Taehyung stops, drawing his hands away, though he’s grinning so hard the corners of his eyes crinkle. Propping himself up on an elbow, he puts his other palm on Hoseok’s chest. Hoseok covers his armpits protectively, not trusting Taehyung’s merciless fingers yet. Taehyung just chuckles at him, dipping down to kiss him.

“Love you,” he whispers, tapping his fingers over Hoseok’s heart. “All of you.” He looks down at Hoseok like he hung the sun, the moon, and the stars for him.

Feeling his heart swell in his chest, Hoseok cups Taehyung’s face and pulls him down for another kiss. “I love you too,” he whispers, smiling at the admission, “You’re my everything.”

When Taehyung presses a kiss to his lips it feels like a promise. Not one of forever, but one of dependability. It’s a promise of trust, of stableness, of steadiness, of sureness, in him, in them.

Hoseok doesn’t know what the future holds for them, what challenges they’ll face as individuals, as a couple or as a group. But if Taehyung’s by his side, he supposes he could face it all.

He certainly wants to try.
