Work Text:
When Shouto first announced that he was seeing the Bakugou Katsuki, Fuyumi had an array of mixed feelings. She felt that her brother was probably too young to be in a romantic relationship. And with someone as publicly volatile as Katsuki, she was most definitely concerned for her brother.
She had always thought Shouto would grow up to marry a petite lady with impeccable manners from a high-class bloodline.
That is after all, what their mother had told them. And their father. And their ancestors, even if most of them were dead, their actions spoke volumes.
Bakugou Katsuki is none of the above. He is not petite with his sturdy shoulders and impressive arms. (Shouto will later point out that Katsuki has a small waist and Fuyumi will look and will think the same.) He is definitely not a lady. One would not even say that he is a gentleman. He dresses loosely and almost scandalously. (Fuyumi will see the how low Katsuki’s tank tops go and thinks that maybe he should cover up more.) His manners ranges from shut up you mob character to fuck you. How Shouto finds that attractive, Fuyumi isn’t sure. Her concern for Shouto only grows. Bakugou Katsuki is born to a middle-class family with middle-class blood. Fuyumi purses her lips and looks at her parents, none of them say anything when Shouto bring Katsuki home with a smile that they haven’t seen since he was a toddler. It seems that that was enough for the whole family to throw out all the tradition and expectations of the house.
Shouto tells them that they will also slowly learn of Bakugou Katsuki’s charm. He adds in that even after they have, he will not share. Fuyumi doubts that anyone else in the family would ever want Bakugou Katsuki the way Shouto does. All heart eyes and sparkles. The receiver of Shouto’s affections doesn’t seem phased. He still stands confidently, not arrogantly. He looks mellowed from when Fuyumi first saw him on TV, but still edgy like an anti-social cat who’s got his paw ready to strike if you come too close.
Fuyumi honestly is not sure whether she will get along with Bakugou Katsuki at all.
But here Fuyumi is, standing with Touya and Natsuo, watching as Shouto recited his vows, his hands holding tightly onto Katsuki’s own who shivered slightly under the cold breeze. She had never imagined that their baby brother, somewhat estranged but not really, would be the first to commit. It made her feel slightly uneasy at her age with no one she can say the same to.
Shouto’s presence in their family had definitely made every other child born to their father before him feel like children that were part of the branch family. Fuyumi doesn’t blame Shouto. Nor does she blame her father who raised Shouto or her mother who spent most of her time looking after Shouto and not them. She was initially jealous of Shouto. But as she watched Shouto who stood somewhat meekly by her parents’ side and then herself surrounded by her two siblings out under the sun of fun and games in their childhood and she pitied Shouto. She would never divulge that to Shouto however.
Things have happened that put them apart from the typical household. They have all gotten through it, some faster than others. They’re all events that make them who they are today and Fuyumi thinks that Shouto thinks the same no matter how immature he may be.
From a young age, Enji has insisted that Shouto will be the best. And has insisted this and reinforced it over and over through time. Fuyumi isn’t surprised when Shouto believes so and strives to be so.
“I will have the best”. Is what Shouto had said the evening he announced that Bakugou Katsuki is his. Fuyumi scrutinised Bakugou’s face – held high with a mildly taut expression. Is Bakugou Katsuki really the best?
Fuyumi watched as Katsuki also recited his vows, his voice definitely nervous and she felt better when she could see the slight tremble in his figure as he too held onto Shouto’s hand tightly. She swears she could hear the moment Katsuki’s voice cracked as he choked in tears. She could hear the crowd tense up in that moment, all trying to restrain their own cries as they watched as Katsuki finish his vows. Fuyumi knows that they are definitely in love with each other, and it’s further affirmed as she watches as her youngest brother smiles and wipes away Katsuki’s tears so lovingly.
Perhaps that is what Shouto referred to. Perhaps the way in which Katsuki so passionately loves Shouto is the best for Shouto. Fuyumi laments that it has taken her this long to figure it out. She regrets the ill-harboured thoughts she may have treaded through in regards to Katsuki. Katsuki who also wants the best for Shouto. Katsuki who also loves Shouto so dearly.
With Shouto and Katsuki’s vows exchanged, they exchange rings and share a kiss. Fuyumi is elated at watching Shouto have his happiness. They pull away and Fuyumi doesn’t miss the tiny nudge of noses they share or the beaming smile between them both. It was hard for anyone to miss, after all, they are the star of today’s celebration.
Fuyumi thinks that Katsuki truly brings out the best out of Shouto if it means Shouto will continue to have such a lovely smile on his face. Honestly, she does not want to see Shouto suffer. She glances at her parents who have the lower half of their face covered with their hand as they watch their son and his partner.
It was normal for Bakugou Katsuki (Fuyumi wonders whether it’s ok for her to continue to call him that, now that he’s married into the family) to move into the Todoroki family home after his marriage to Todoroki. Fuyumi could tell as she helped Katsuki move in that Katsuki’s parents didn’t want to let him go. Fuyumi can relate, were Shouto to ever move out, she too would feel uneasy, wondering what he could be suffering from, wondering whether he was eating well, wondering whether he was doing alright. It felt warm. She could tell that Katsuki’s parents love him even in all his menace.
The first time Katsuki calls her nee-san, Fuyumi is not disgusted, she just hadn’t expected him to be… well, so polite. As she was in the slight state of shock, Katsuki continues talking and moving around in the kitchen. Fuyumi quickly realises that Katsuki was cooking breakfast. They develop a habit soon after, they cook breakfast together, and each make dishes for the bentou for the day for each member of the family. Fuyumi starts to think that were Shouto to move out, at least she’d know that he’d be eating well with Katsuki by his side.
Even though their family had gone up by one, Fuyumi finds her work load lessened. She wants to approach Katsuki about it, tell him that he doesn’t need to. But she isn’t too sure how to bring the topic up.
Katsuki would go jog most mornings, and Fuyumi would wake up just in time to see Katsuki return from his early morning jog. They don’t speak all too much to each other, but it felt comfortable, and Fuyumi admits to herself that it’s nice to have someone else in the kitchen every now and then, she didn’t know how lonely it was by herself until Katsuki started showing up in the kitchen.
And most mornings, Shouto would return from his jog in the morning, shower and then pester Katsuki with an amount of affection Fuyumi first had to do a double take at. She can’t remember a time in which her youngest brother ever displayed that much affection. Granted, they barely grew up together.
It was cute, it clearly made Shouto happy even though Katsuki kept diverting his affections. Perhaps some people would see that level of affection as something that should be done in private, but to Fuyumi, it only made her even more fond of her brother and his partner. They were cute. It made her want to go back in time and tell herself that it wasn’t too early for Shouto to find a lifelong partner and that it was a ridiculous thought in front of Bakugou Katsuki.
Two weeks into Katsuki’s arrival at the Todoroki household, Fuyumi finally could not hold it in as she tries to politely tell the other that he doesn’t need to involves himself in the household chores. Fuyumi says that they have a maid come in a couple of times a week to clean the house, that Fuyumi can handle the cooking, that if there’s anything he wants to eat, she will cook it for him.
Katsuki looks at Fuyumi with raised eyebrows and arms crossed against his chest.
Fuyumi wonders if she said something wrong? Perhaps she didn’t word it right. After all, she’s never met a child – a man now – like Bakugou Katsuki. She was good at handling children, most children, but Bakugou Katsuki is different to the students at school. In too many ways.
“Chores are meant to be split between the family”, Katsuki grunts out, “if you don’t want me in your kitchen, just say so clearly”.
Fuyumi panics because that is definitely not where her intentions lay. So, she throws her polite words out of the window and hopes that telling Katsuki honestly will make him understand, “It’s fun in the kitchen with you, I just didn’t’ want you to be burdened by it”.
Katsuki snickers, “Then I’ll see you tomorrow morning in the kitchen again”.
By the end of that week, Katsuki brings up a whiteboard with a meticulously neat grid drawn on it. The names of chores were listed on the left for the rows and the columns were labelled with the days of the week. What surprised Fuyumi was that there were names allocated to the chores and different days of the week.
Fuyumi chokes on nothing when she sees her parents’ names down on the chart as well. Granted, they were only allocated one chore – most likely to their choice – on just one of the days a week, but it was still there. She looks over at Katsuki who nods at the roster with satisfaction. Fuyumi has never in her life seen her father or her brothers do any form of chores, so it was definitely pleasant to see them do some. Granted, just small things such as making their own bed (because apparently Katsuki said he couldn’t trust any of them with most of the chores, but they’re still family). Fuyumi’s favourite soon becomes when she’s in the kitchen with her mother on a Saturday night preparing dinner. It’s thanks to Katsuki.
There was one morning in which Fuyumi woke up earlier than usual due to the heat seeping into the house. As expected of summer. Unsettled and unable to get back to sleep again, she wakes up and thinks perhaps she might as well start the day early.
Fuyumi heads into the kitchen to grab a glass of water when she bumps into Katsuki who’s fumbling around in the pantry.
“Good morning-”, Fuyumi calls out but then stops suddenly and stops in her steps when Katsuki turns around and Fuyumi is 100% not trying to look, but it’s really difficult when the person before her is in what she assumes is nothing but Shouto’s shirt.
Gosh.
Immediately, Fuyumi turns away and covers her eyes – she’ll have to wipe her glasses after.
“Morning”, Katsuki responds lazily and Fuyumi can hear sounds of him continuing to rummage through the pantry. She is reminded of videos of raccoons rummaging and that brings a small smile to her lips.
“Your clothes”, Fuyumi starts, “you should put some on”.
Katsuki hums, “I’m going back to bed soon”, obviously not bothered by his nakedness.
“Are you looking for something specifically?” Fuyumi asks, maybe she can help him so that he can return to bed faster, so that he doesn’t have to be in such an underdressed state for so long.
“Painkillers”, Katsuki states, “oh, found it, Shouto that half-ass must’ve misplaced it last time”.
“Painkillers”, Fuyumi frowns, “are you hurt? Do you need to go to a hospital?” She lowers her hands from her face and turns to look at Katsuki with concern. What she didn’t expect was for Katsuki to flush a deep shade of red in embarrassment as he stares at her. Fuyumi sees the bite marks and hickeys that litter Katsuki’s neck and things click.
Oh.
Flustered, Fuyumi waves her hands and stammers as she tries to think of what the most appropriate thing is to say to Katsuki. “I can cover up your, your, your-”, Fuyumi gestures towards Katsuki’s neck.
Immediately, Katsuki slaps one hand around his neck, his other hand holding a packet of pain killers. He nods, “After breakfast”. He quickly takes a glass of water and the painkillers and Fuyumi watches as Katsuki limps back into his shared room with Shouto. She doesn’t miss Katsuki’s rising blush.
Oh boy.
When Fuyumi sees Katsuki next, to her relief, he is dressed in more than just Shouto’s oversized shirt. The hickeys and bite marks are still very evident on the other’s neck. They start making breakfast together like normal, and their bentou for themselves and the other family members.
As the food sits simmering away, Fuyumi grabs her makeup box and gestures for Katsuki to take a seat so that she could help him cover the signs of passion Shouto had left on him. Fuyumi tries not to think about all the other places Shouto may have left such deep marks on. She doesn’t want to know why she’s never noticed it until now either.
Katsuki stretches his neck, tilts his head back slightly and closes his eyes. Fuyumi frowns when she feels her heart skip a beat as she looks at her brother-in-law. He was glowing. For that split second, she understood why her youngest brother found Bakugou Katsuki so alluring. But, she reminds herself that that’s her brother-in-law and almost all thoughts of how beautiful Katsuki looks disperses as she gently covers up the hickeys Shouto had left all over Katsuki’s neck last night.
“All done”, Fuyumi says as she finishes up. Katsuki opens his eyes and hums in appreciation.
Fuyumi takes another look at Katsuki’s cheeks and thinks that they must be very gentle to the touch, she admires how youthful Katsuki’s skin looks for his age even though he’s young. She wishes she has skin that nice. Perhaps she should ask Katsuki what he does to keep his skin so nice. Not a single blemish in sight, especially she’s now covered up the Shouto-made blemishes.
Katsuki’s eyebrows furrows when he catches Fuyumi staring, and with that, his beautiful image is broken. Katsuki doesn’t say anything or click his tongue in annoyance like the many times Fuyumi has seen.
Instead, things fall back into rhythm as they finish preparing breakfast together. As usual, Shouto wakes up a little after and showers his partner in affection. Fuyumi watches with a smile. Things seem to fall in place more, she feels like she understands their relationship just a little bit more.
“Oh”, Shouto comments as he hugs Katsuki from behind, his chin resting on Katsuki’s shoulder, “you covered up your hickeys”.
Fuyumi hears an oof from Shouto and assumes that Katsuki had elbowed Shouto in the stomach.
“No thanks to you. Nee-san did it for me because you went overboard last night”, is the angry hiss that Katsuki sends his partner.
Fuyumi chuckles quietly to herself before turning to look at the couple to see how Shouto will react. She’s gifted the sight of him pouting as he attempts to give Katsuki another hickey. Honestly. In that moment, Fuyumi catches herself thinking that maybe someone needs to tell Shouto that he can’t be like that with Katsuki, marking him up so frequently. Especially when Katsuki is filmed on camera so much, especially when Katsuki is so easily recognisable in public. He’s a public figure. He’s a hero in which children look up to and aspire to be. Shouto is too. Their relationship is well known by the public, but that doesn’t mean it’s decent for Katsuki to parade around with signs of their love. Not like that, not on his neck.
But at the same time, Fuyumi thinks it’s really not quite her place to warn Shouto of these things, especially when Shouto looks up from Katsuki’s neck, at her and smirks. Shouto clearly knows what he’s doing.
Fuyumi knew that sooner or later, she’d be witness to Katsuki’s infamous temper. They day came within a week of Katsuki moving in. Granted, she has seen Katsuki be upset with Shouto often, consistently complaining about how much of a half-ass he is or how he wasn’t gentle enough or how his kisses were too long. But she also saw Katsuki stick to Shouto’s side and rest his head on Shouto’s shoulder and make him food and play with his hair. It wasn’t the most typical of relationships, but it never ceased to make Fuyumi feel happy for Shouto.
Shouto had done something and Katsuki was mad. He was fuming, Fuyumi swears she could see smoke coming out of his ears. She hopes that all this won’t lead to Katsuki getting diagnosed with hypertension at such a young age.
This time seemed different to the usual irritation Katsuki wore when Shouto burnt dinner because he was too busy groping Katsuki or when Shouto kept wearing Katsuki’s underwear to the point where it became too loose for Katsuki to wear comfortably. Fuyumi doesn’t question as to why she knows so much about their relationship. It’s hard not to, when they all live under the same roof.
Katsuki had surely exploded. He had kicked and punched Shouto. He yelled at him and then pushed him out of their bedroom before slamming the door. Fuyumi looks curiously at Shouto who doesn’t even notice her presence as he knocks on the bedroom door and asks for Katsuki’s forgiveness.
Fuyumi decides to let the lovebirds quarrel it out. When she walks by later that night, she finds Shouto huddled outside the door with his donna and a pillow. It seems, at the very least, Katsuki had thrown those at Shouto because he clearly wasn’t going back into the bedroom that night.
The next morning, Fuyumi wakes up to her routine, breakfast. Except this time, Katsuki doesn’t greet her in the kitchen. She is slightly concerned and she goes to check that the shower isn’t running, and Katsuki’s jogging shoes are still on the shoe rack… strange. Eventually, Fuyumi finds Katsuki cuddled in Shouto’s embrace, outside of their bedroom. Quietly, Fuyumi takes a photo on her phone and hopes that the shutter sound doesn’t wake them from their peaceful morning. It seems like they made up after all.
Eventually, as Fuyumi starts cooking, Katsuki does wake. He joins her and says nothing about the argument he had with Shouto the night before. He looks rather sleepy, but his anger has obviously simmered.
Or so Fuyumi thought because she watches as Katsuki cruelly gives Shouto the cold shoulder. Maybe they hadn’t made up after all… despite the cuddling.
Fuyumi finds out from Shouto much later it was because he had called their pet kitty fat. Apparently chubby is the appropriate term. Fuyumi isn’t sure whether this small slip of tongue was enough to rile Katsuki up that much and then have him give Shouto the cold shoulder, but if that’s what Shouto said, then that must be it.
It’s on a night when everyone but Fuyumi and Natsuo had gone out to eat when Fuyumi joins Natsuo as they watch TV and asks a question that occasionally lingers in her mind. “Don’t you think he has really nice skin?”
“Who?” Natsuo points at the TV, “The newscaster?”
Fuyumi hums, “Shouto’s partner”.
“Oh”, Natsuo shrugs, “Never really looked, why the sudden interest?”
Fuyumi returns the shrug, “I just noticed it the other day, that’s all”.
“Funny”, Natsuo changes poses as he rests his cheek in his palm, “Probably genetics”.
Humming in agreement, Fuyumi nods absently, “His mother does have nice skin”.
The conversation comes to an end and Fuyumi thinks perhaps it isn’t just drinking water or good skincare that will give one youthful skin. When she approaches Shouto about it, he shrugs and directs her question to Katsuki.
“Old hag’s quirk”, Katsuki replies simply with a hint of disdain and a scrunched-up nose as he talks about his mother. Fuyumi has gotten better at reading Katsuki now that she’s spent more time with him. She knows he speaks of her fondly.
Fuyumi is slightly surprised. She hadn’t known. She knows it’s wrong to assume, but she had thought Shouto and Katsuki to be similar, she had at the back of her mind thought that perhaps, Katsuki’s parents also had strong quirks. Fuyumi duly notes that she honestly does not know much about Katsuki even though she is knowing more and more with each passing day.
It was a bright autumn day in which Fuyumi comes back from work, the sun was slowly setting in which she finds her youngest brother and brother-in-law lounging on the wooden veranda under the fine autumn day. Specifically, Shouto had his head in Katsuki’s lap whilst Katsuki cleaned out Shouto’s ear.
To Fuyumi, she had often seen this scene on TV, a typical scene to show the intimacy between a married couple who knew each other thoroughly with the beautiful shades of maple leaves in the background. It was heart-warming to see the same scene in front of her.
“Welcome back”, both Shouto and Katsuki say as Fuyumi’s footsteps become closer.
“I’m home”, Fuyumi repeats.
Katsuki looks up briefly at Fuyumi before turning his attention back to cleaning Shouto’s ear. Shouto hums in approval. Fuyumi hopes that Katsuki saw the smile she sent at him.
“Nee-san, if you want your ears cleaned you can’t ask Katsuki”, Shouto says with as little movement as he can. Katsuki holds the other’s head still and urges Shouto to stop talking so that Katsuki can clean Shouto’s ear out properly.
“I didn’t ask”, Fuyumi states and adjusts her glasses. She gives them another glance and a small smile before walking off, leaving them to their peace.
Fuyumi walks by half an hour later and this time, there’s no more ear cleaning, it’s simply just the two of them lounging on the veranda together and enjoying the crispness autumn brings. She thinks the image would be set if they had a cup of tea each and some wagashi. But Fuyumi says nothing and continues on. Maybe they need a ginkgo tree in that part of the garden, so she can use it as a backdrop for them both.
When winter rolled around, Fuyumi temporarily stopped hiding the love bites on Katsuki’s neck because he said his winter hero costume covers the marks quite well.
“So long as I don’t get it ruined”, Katsuki smirks.
Fuyumi believed in those words and the low probability of his hero costume being that ruined as she snippets of Bakushinchi on TV that night, his hero costume wrapping him up almost from head to toe. She thinks he looks quite cute with just his eyes and half his nose peeking from the wide neck of his costume. Almost like a puppy. One she wants to pet and feed endlessly.
Until one day, whilst watching the news with Touya and Natsuo, they get a very clear close up of Bakushinchi-san whose hero costume was half ruined, his hickey laid skin was there for all to see.
“Ah”, Fuyumi sighs and shakes her head before looking to see what Touya and Natsuo’s reactions are. They were covering their mouths to supress their laughter. Fuyumi smiles at that, already knowing that they’d be teasing Shouto as soon as he returns home.
And the merciless teasing does occur as soon as both Shouto and Katsuki return home. At least they both had the decency to turn bright red.
The next morning, Fuyumi has the makeup box set up already, she gives Katsuki a small smile in which he returns with a frown and a pout. She chuckles as Katsuki obediently sits with his eyes closed and lets Fuyumi work her magic. It’s much easier than covering it yourself.
Fuyumi thinks that maybe Katsuki does like to get spoiled like so. Since she is sure that covering up hickeys isn’t something Katsuki can’t do. The thought that Katsuki wants to be spoiled by her makes her feel that it’s truly her blessing to have an additional younger brother like him. Fuyumi is glad that Katsuki isn’t just carrying the title of brother-in-law for her since he has become one for her. She can’t remember why she felt so hesitant with Katsuki before.
It’s on a public holiday when Fuyumi comes home from lunch to hear just in time Katsuki pick up the phone and answer it.
“This is Todoroki”, Katsuki’s voice is calm and smooth, albeit tired but not tired enough to lash out on the person on the other end of the phone.
Fuyumi thinks maybe Katsuki can work a little more on his phone etiquette. He probably could do with asking what the person who calls wants. Fuyumi is however, happy yet surprised at the same time to hear Katsuki refer to himself as Todoroki.
Katsuki looks up when Fuyumi walks into the house. They exchange nods before Katsuki shoves the phone into her hands on hold.
“Hospital”, Katsuki grunts out, “for mother”.
Fuyumi lets out a mental sigh of relief when she hears that it’s only for their mother. She takes the phone call as she watches Katsuki stretch his limbs and walk back into his room.
When Fuyumi tells Shouto of this situation, she didn’t realise that Shouto would use the information and become rather… annoying. Not really for her, but for Katsuki. She didn’t think Katsuki would be the type of person to complain to her. His sister-in-law, in fact, he never has, so this must’ve been quite the preposterous ordeal for Katsuki to deliberately come up to her as soon as her shift finished and returned home.
“Nee-san”, Katsuki says angrily, and at first, Fuyumi thought she might’ve done something to upset Katsuki, with a quick jog of the mind, she can’t think of anything buy perhaps she had missed covering up a love bite?
“H-hm?” Fuyumi fumbles as she removes her coat and gives her brother-in-law a guarded look.
“I’m not answering the home phone anymore”, is all Katsuki says before he stomps off angrily, his temper lashing out with each step coupled with a swear word, or two.
“Eh?” Fuyumi chases after Katsuki, “What’s wrong? What happened?”
“Shouto!” Katsuki answers angrily. Fuyumi is only slightly taken-aback that Katsuki even bothered to reply her.
“Shou-Shouto?” Fuyumi stammers, “What did he do this time?” It scares her, she doesn’t want them to have a falling-out, she’s become fond of Katsuki. She wants him to continue to stay as family.
“Honestly”, Katsuki spins around with his arms waving in the air dramatically, “he won’t stop calling!”
Fuyumi raises one eyebrow, “So you decided to not answer the home phone because he’s calling you?”
“Yes”, Katsuki stresses, “he’s calling the home phone”.
Fuyumi raises her other eyebrow as well, she wonders if Katsuki’s mobile is broken?
“Incessantly”, Katsuki spits out, “he gets off on hearing me call myself Todoroki”.
Oh. Fuyumi blinks blankly at Katsuki. That might be her fault… for letting it slip that Katsuki will answer the home phone when no one else was at home.
“Might as well be scam calls”, Katsuki huffs out exasperatedly, “stupid Shouto”.
Fuyumi chuckles awkwardly. She probably shouldn’t say that maybe she was the cause of Shouto’s new found hobby. Fuyumi secretly hopes that it won’t turn into a hobby, because Katsuki really seemed like he wasn’t going to pick up the home phone again.
“He just misses you”, Fuyumi tells Katsuki, hoping to placate the other so that when Shouto comes back, Katsuki won’t be trying to blow him up for being so annoying.
But before Katsuki can respond the phone rings again and immediately, Katsuki glares at it. Fuyumi’s awkward chuckle turns into a nervous laugh as she goes over to pick up the phone before Katsuki destroys it with his explosions.
“Hello, this is Todoroki, how can I help you?” Fuyumi asks.
“Oh”
Fuyumi sighs, “Shouto”, she can recognise him by that single sound. Still very typical of him.
“Nee-san”, Shouto acknowledges.
“Go back to work”, is all Fuyumi says before she hangs up and sends Katsuki a smile. He returns it with a scrunched nose before he walks off and back into his room.
Fuyumi tries to pretend that she knows nothing when Shouto returns home only to be on the end of Katsuki’s explosive rage. She can’t say she’ll always be on Shouto’s side, because this time, she thinks that Shouto deserved all of Katsuki’s frustrated punches. Though Fuyumi admits Shouto seems to enjoy seeing such a worked up Katsuki, if his smile is anything to go by.
On the day Shouto and Katsuki plan to move out to their own home, Fuyumi is already missing them. On the days, weeks and months that led up to this fateful day, Fuyumi worries about who will cover up all the kiss marks on Katsuki’s skin, she worries about whether they will be run down, she worries about whether Katsuki will destroy the house from Shouto probing at him too much to try and get a reaction (she always knew Shouto was immature and will continue to stay so). Fuyumi makes them tell her that they will come over often still. She makes Shouto promise her that he will help Katsuki with chores. She forces Katsuki to promise that he won’t hesitate to come to her for advice or someone to talk to when Shouto pisses him off. Katsuki nudges Shouto and gives him a knowing look. Fuyumi hopes that Shouto won’t take any offence from her words.
Fuyumi wakes up extra early on the day Shouto and Katsuki move out so that she can make a special bentou for Shouto and Katsuki. She hopes her efforts will pay off. Fuyumi feels a great sense of gratitude towards Katsuki. Emotions that she didn’t think she would ever hold for Katsuki considering his nefarious repertoire.
“Here, take this with you today”, Fuyumi says as she pops the bentou in Katsuki’s hands as he walks into the kitchen.
Katsuki is slightly shocked, but he takes the bentou and his expression relaxes again, “You didn’t have to”, Katsuki says, “I need to make Shouto’s one anyway”.
Fuyumi offers Katsuki a smile, “I made one for him too”.
Katsuki eyes the other bentou sitting on the bench wrapped in Shouto’s colours.
“Thank you for taking care of Shouto”, Fuyumi breathes in deeply and still isn’t sure if she should be calling Katsuki so out loud, she knows that she’s never addressed Katsuki by name out loud, but her changes will diminish once they move out, they won’t see each other every morning anymore, so she has to, this is her opportunity, “Bakugou-kun”. It’s hard.
Katsuki looks up at Fuyumi with raised eyebrows, “Nee-san, you can call me Katsuki”.
Fuyumi feels her heart melt from the smile Katsuki gives her, it was wide and warm, she feels she had just been given another glance at the part of Katsuki in which Shouto fell so deeply in love with. “Okay, thank you, Katsuki-kun”.
