Chapter 1: the beginning

Chapter Text

It started in back at the end of high school. Midoriya couldn't believe this entire time his friendship with Bakugou had underlying love. He still remembered it like it was yesterday,
-----
Bakugou shoved him back in the locker room, seemingly angry.

"Because I like you, you fucking idiot!"

Midoriya blushed wildly, "what do you mean K-kacchan? "

Bakugou furrowed his brows before pulling Midoriya into him and crashing his lips against the boy's soft innocent ones. Midoriya's eyes slowly fluttered shut as he fell into the kiss. They stayed like that for a moment before Midoriya backed away, waving his arms in front of his bright red face.

"O-oh," was all he could manage before walking back slowly and wrapping his arms around Bakugou's tall figure.

"Tch..." Bakugou was also blushing lightly.
-----
Things weren't always like this. The two bickered back and forth constantly since they were little. Bakugou's egotistic attitude and inability to show any emotions other than anger and pride got in the way of their friendship as they slowly fell apart over the years following. When they made it into the same prestigious school, Bakugou was furious while Midoriya was terrified. The past didn't matter now, though. The two more enveloped in each other's comfort than they had ever been.

Midoriya wrapped his arms back around Bakugou, cuddling himself closer into his chest while they were on the couch in their own home, now.

"Do you ever think about how things use to be? You know- back then."

"Of course I do, you fucking idiot. I hate myself for how I treated you- and everyone else," he nuzzled his head into Midoriya, "But things are different now. I'm not who I use to be... and neither are you Izuku."

Midoriya smiled softly into Bakugou. He loved hearing his name come from Bakugou, it made him feel more special than anyone else in the world. Bakugou made him feel more special than he'd ever felt in his life. More special than when All Might passed down his powers. More special than when his Mom told him how proud she was of who he's become. The butterflies never dying down in the four years they'd spent like this.

"You make me feel like- like- I can do or be anything because of you."

"Tch..." Bakugou kissed the top of his head, "You make me better."
-----
The next day they had Hero work together. Taking names and kicking ass. They were the inseparable duo, becoming the new symbol of Hope together, causing villains to cower as their numbers decreased drastically over the time Bakugou and Midoriya quickly rised to the top hero spots over the last two years.

Once they were finished doing their rounds, they went grocery shopping together.

"Katsuki! Please we have to get this!" Midoriya cheered as he held up a box of popsicles.

Bakugou chuckled lowly, his heart fluttering as he added the box to their cart. They had a few people periodically ask for autographs and pictures. The two never turned anyone away and always gave their fans positive advice, trying their best to be the heroes they were always meant to be.

When the two made it back home, exhausted, Midoriya sang and headed to the shower as Bakugou put away their groceries and started cooking their dinner. Bakugou's phone rang, but he did his best to ignore text messages from anyone or calls unless they were urgent or involved hero work.

-1 new voicemail-

"Tch..." Bakugou rolled his eyes as he listened to the voicemail.

"Hey bro! Long time no talk, just wanted to check in. Miss you."

"Kirishima. It has been a while," Bakugou muttered as he hung up the phone and sent a quick message.

Meanwhile, Midoriya finished up in the shower and came to the kitchen in his towel.

"Mmm! Something smells good Kacchan!"

"Doesn't it always," Bakugou winked before chuckling and rolling his eyes.

Midoriya blushed and hugged Bakugou tightly. Bakugou hugged him back softly, rubbing his back and kissing the top of his head.

"Get some clothes on Izuku, or dinner is gonna end up being later than I planned," he gave him an evil smirk and eyed him up and down.

"K-katsuki, stop," he blushed and looked away, not moving.

"Then why aren't you going now?"

Midoriya looked up at Bakugou and started heading towards the bedroom, humming happily. He'd never get over the feeling Bakugou gave him. His empty threats, his playful words. He smiled to himself as he started throwing on a tight long sleeve shirt and baggy sweatpants. His heart raced as he came back into the kitchen smelling the delicious food.

"S'it ready now, Kacchan?"

"Mm.. c'mon."

They spent the rest of the night enveloped in each other. Happy. Fulfilled.

The next day Midoriya left to go to a conference with the headmaster of UA as they wanted him to visit the classes and talk to the new students this year. Obviously he happily obliged.

"I love you always, Katsu," Midoriya mumbled as the two kissed before Midoriya made his way.

Bakugou checked his phone from the previous night and saw a new message from Kirishima.

'Let's get together. It's been at least a year now, hasn't it?'

'Okay, shitty hair. I'll be over in 20'

Bakugou threw on some clothes and headed to Kirishima's house. It was short notice, but he figured he was free today considering his call yesterday night.

When he arrived, the door flew open to expose a red-haired man with a shit eating grin on his face, revealing his pointy, goofy smile.

"Bakubro! It's been too long!."

"Oi, don't call me that, dumbass."

"Right, Bakubitch," Kirishima pulled Bakugou into a hug, patting his back roughly before ruffling his hair and heading inside with him.

Bakugou rolled his eyes. The two caught up over the next few hours, playing video games and talking about their lives from high school until now. They both downed a couple beers, their game growing more intense.

"I fucking said to watch that side! The fuck are you doing shitty hair? Get back in the game."

Kirishima, buzzed from the alcohol, mimicked Bakugou, making fun of his attitude.

"You're fucking drunk already, Kirishima? Are you fifteen again or some shit?"

"Hey, you know I've always been a lightweight. That hasn't changed in the last year."

Bakugou rolled his eyes and grabbed his phone as it started ringing. Midoriya.

"Kacchan! I'm home. Did you go visit Kirishima? Should I come over? I haven't seen him in a long time!"

"I was actually just about to come back home. Kirishima can barely sit on his own ass. I had a few beers though, if you wanna pick me up instead."

"Mkay, I'll be there soon! Tell him to drink some water and take a nap. It'll make him feel better."

"Mm..."

"Love you."

"Love you, too, Deku."

The phone hung up and Bakugou got up to get Kirishima some water and set some painkillers next to the couch.

"You need to get some sleep, dumbass. You're getting worse every second."

"W'ever- you say beautiful man."

"Tch..."

Bakugou started heading out the door to wait outside for Midoriya when he heard Kirishima mumble under his breath,

"ilikeyou"

Bakugou rolled his eyes, believing he misheard whatever the Hell Kirishima was mumbling now and opened the door, stepping into the cool night air.

Midoriya showed up not long after and the two headed home, telling each other about their day. Midoriya's heart fluttered, his eyes full of undying love as he watched Bakugou talk. He really did love him.

Bakugou smirked evilly, "come to the room with me, sweet boy."

Midoriya blushed furiously and followed Bakugou back to their room, the night full of love and lust.

Little did they know where the next few weeks would lead them.
