Work Text:
Daisuke's new job is proven to be useful investment, never failing to provide him with entertainment. He has been paired off with the prideful idiot whom had willingly fallen off the bridge rather than begging for help. After working with him on a few cases, Daisuke could see why he loathes him, his methods, attitudes and ideals with every single fiber of his being.
Daisuke does not mind his attitude because Haru, by far, is the most amusing individual he has encountered. Using HEUSC, Daisuke dug up information to prove his own assumptions of him based on their first meeting.
The information of Haru's previous job always struck out to him. He had been kicked out of the division due to his stubborn behaviour, resulting in the thinly veiled animosity Haru has with the First Investigative Division.
Regardless, Haru never let the sore reminder get in the way of his naive ideology. He cast his insecurities aside, confidently stepping up to his former teammates especially at times like this.
It was Daisuke's first time meeting two members of the First Division. They had interviewed a witness and were returning to their car when they ran into Hoshino and his colleague. He sees Haru and his kouhai, butting heads. Even through the tension, the observant raven-haired billionaire can see the admiration Hoshino held for Haru. He admonishes him, constantly reminding him that he was no longer a part of Division One. Yet, Daisuke notices he still hold respect for him even if it was masked by his annoyed tone. Meanwhile, Haru had no qualms, imposing himself on his kouhai. Eavesdropping and even forcibly nabbing the earphone from him to see what cases the First Division were handling on the field. Haru, in the insolent man's personal space, listening in on the orders and reports given.
It aggravates Daisuke but it appears his first encounter with them was going to end in his favour. Haru's silver eyes were wide and he leaves the earpiece dangling. He grabs Daisuke roughly by the arm, wrinkling his expensive suit and pulls him insistently to Daisuke's ride of the day, a sleek black Lykan Hypersport. The insolent man and his partner dash over to their cheap ride, meaning that time was of the essence. Even without any context, Daisuke understands what he needs to do. He let himself be pulled away, a smirk forming on his face.
This is going to be fun.
The chase was over fairly quick. It was a job well done by his standards but Haru grills him for the damage he caused and the driving and traffic laws he had violated as per usual. Daisuke gives HEUSC permission to double the amount of compensation to the related parties on the damage the incident has caused. The rules, however, he blatantly ignored. He humours Haru's nagging, bouncing off his harmless agitation with his thick skin and smart quips. It never cease to amuse him even after his insults get old.
By the time the duo from the First Division arrived to the scene, the criminals were already tied up. Haru was making calls to make reports and checking on the injuries the preps had obtained during their collision with the traffic lights. Daisuke let the workaholic roam while he remained relaxed, leaning against the car with a cigar in hand. He levels Hoshino and his partner with a impassive yet undeniably smug stare.
A myriad of expressions flittered across Hoshino's face, almost all of them negative. What Daisuke focused on was the tiny silver of awe in his gaze and the obvious look of regret when his eyes fell on Haru. A puff of smoke hides a satisfied smirk. Daisuke decides it was a good look on the brazen man.
The officers approached Haru and the criminals, taking over the arrest. Daisuke does not interfere. The damage was already done. The unconventional duo had successfully capture the targets. Haru was the one to report to the end of the chase which was how Hoshino and his partner managed to locate them in the first place. They are not pleased with the outcome but they cannot deny the results. All they can do now is to cleaning up after them.
Haru, as clueless as ever, does not see the bigger picture. He hovers around them. His presence only aggravates them further which earns a chuckle from the spectator. Now that he had his full, Daisuke discards the cigar and approaches them. "We are done here. Let them take care of it. We have another case to get to." An insulting jab to the two useless officers but they were clever enough to not rise up to the bait.
Haru jolts to the reminder, rushing over to their ride. Daisuke lags behind, casting an obvious side glance to the other officers. Hoshino glares at him. He does not hide his contempt when obsidian eyes fell on him. The green-eyed monster stares back. The smartly dressed man turns, giving him a clear view of his smirk, his amusement.
Daisuke does not need to savour this moment but he commits it to memory. He is sure his first impression was now ingrained in Hoshino's mind. He makes his way leisurely to his partner, knowing well that Haru was in his car rather than being with that incompetent lout. Haru will certainly do better with him in charge. No matter what prestige and power the First Division may hold, Daisuke is more than enough to ensure that Haru earns more victory under his belt. Even if they do not see eye-to-eye, they are doing well enough to boast satisfying results. Unlike Hoshino, he will never let Haru leave no matter what.
Daisuke drives off with Haru, leaving Hoshino and his partner in the dust.
