Lie to Me - Lie (First Draft)

Summary:

Jimin is running away from his past and runs straight to Yoongi.

This is the original draft for the Lie to Me story. I might not be completing this work due to my lack of interest in it, but we'll see how life goes. The new version is already up and completed.

Chapter Text

“Well done, Jimin-oppa!” Some girl in Park Jimin’s class told him as she clapped her hands. Jimin didn’t know her name because he was new to the singing class. “You are such a great singer. I wish you could teach me how to hit notes like that.”

“I think you are a pretty great singer too. You definitely don’t need my help.” Jimin smiled softly. He knew that she was trying to flirt with him and get time alone with him. For once in his life Park Jimin was glad that he was gay.

“Yeah, Yoo-jin, you are a great singer.” Another named Ye-rim said to the girl standing next to Jimin. Jimin just smiled politely at both girls and prepared his stuff so he could leave.

“Park Jimin, please come to my office for a while.” The singing coach, Mr Min, said.

“Yes, sir.” Jimin quickly packed his things and went to the teacher’s office.

“I heard you sing. Is that what you are going to use for the assessment?” Mr Min asked as Jimin sat down at his desk.

“Yes, it’s not perfected yet but that is what I wanted to use for my presentation. Is there anything wrong with it?” Jimin was worried. Not only had he transferred mid-semester, he hadn’t sung in a long time. This made him feel a little bit insecure about his work.

“I think it’s okay, but not for some one of your skill level.” Mr Min said truthfully.

“Should I choose an easier song?” Jimin felt his heart drop. He thought that the song was pretty good and not that hard for him.

“No, that isn’t what I meant Jimin.” Mr Min laughed. “I meant that you should find a song that covers your vocal range better. You are trying to swim laps in a kiddy pool.”

“Do you really think so?” Jimin was surprised. He had never heard some one say such nice things about his singing.

“Yes. It would be better if you worked with a partner or music student to find the right song. This project will help you catch up on the work you missed earlier in the year.” Mr Min explained as he wrote something down on to a sticky note. “Since I know that you are new to the school and might not have many friends, this is my nephew’s name and phone number. He can help you out.”

“Thank you so much, Mr Min.” Jimin happily bowed and left the office and studio. He was happy, for once someone said that he had great vocal abilities and they weren’t trying to get into his pants. He looked at the paper he was given.

Min Yoongi, 08XX XXX XXXX, Music Building 3.

Jimin decided that since he was free, he was going to go and see Mr Min’s nephew. When Jimin got to Music Building 3, he was nervous. He hadn’t interacted with people outside of his class in a while.

“Can I help you?” A tall scary person with a deep voice asked him. He was good looking but very intimidating.

“I- um- I’m looking for Min Yoongi.” Jimin showed the tall male the sticky note.

“Ah, I’ll show you where his studio is.” The male handed the note back to Jimin and headed for the lifts. “My name is Kim Namjoon, what’s yours?”

“Park Jimin, I’m trying to major in singing.” Jimin said as he tried to keep up with Namjoon’s long legs.

“Really? I’m doing music and science on the side.” Namjoon said as they entered the lift and he pressed the button for the third floor.

“Does Min Yoongi have his own studio? Is he a teacher?”

“No, he isn’t. We all get our own studios, but this year they accepted more music students so two people have to share. I share one with Yoongi.”

“You are friends with him?” Although Jimin was getting comfortable around Namjoon, he was scared to see the kind of guy Min Yoongi was.

“Yeah, we have been friends for a while. Then we applied for this major together and got in together.”

“Is it hard to get into it?” Jimin asked.

“Yes, there are like three selection processes.” Namjoon grimaced. “Why are you looking for Yoongi?”

“Well I need help with my final project for the semester. I joined the school late so I’m behind on work and need to work harder.”

“Doesn’t singing also have a selection process?” Namjoon asked as they stepped out of the lift.

“It does, but I had a recommendation offer put through on my behalf.” Jimin said quietly. Even though people said that he should be proud of his achievements, he always just thought of the real reason behind how he got to where he was.

“That’s nice. I hope your project goes well.” Namjoon said. He seemed to sense that Jimin didn’t want to talk about it, so he left the subject alone. He stopped outside a door with the words ‘GO AWAY’ written in red. “This is our studio. Yoongi doesn’t like people.”

“Oh.” Jimin was now more scared than before. Namjoon entered a code into the side panel and opened the door.

“Hyung I brought someone who was looking for you.” Namjoon said as he went into the room and gestured for Jimin to follow.

“He’s even older than Namjoon!” Jimin panicked inside. He stepped into the room to find a boy lying on the couch with headphones on.

“Hyung.” Namjoon tapped the headsets and Min Yoongi opened his eyes and took off the headsets. “Someone is here to see you.”

“Who?” Min Yoongi looked passed Namjoon to see Jimin nervously standing in the doorway.

“Hello, I’m Park Jimin, a Vocal major.” Jimin hurriedly introduced himself and bowed.

“I’ll leave you two. Jin is probably waiting.” Namjoon placed a hand on Jimin’s shoulder before walking out and closing the door behind him.

“So, what do you want?” Yoongi lazily asked Jimin. He leaned back in the chair and folded his arms. While Yoongi was just acting like this because he was tired, Jimin got the wrong message and thought that Yoongi didn’t want him there.

“I- I- Your uncle, Mr Min, obviously, the vocal coach, my vocal coach, said that I should come to you for help on my final project. I should ask you for help on my project. He said you could help me.” Jimin’s voice slowly faded the longer he spoke. He wondered if the male even understood a word he was saying.

“So, my uncle wants me to help you with your final project?”

“Yes, I don’t have friends here since I’m new, so he gave me your name.” Jimin took the sticky note and showed it to Yoongi.

“He must really like you.” Yoongi said as he looked at the sticky note. He reads its contents and then stood up and walked to one of the desks in the room. Jimin finally got a good look at the room he was in.

It had cream white walls, two desks lining two of its far walls, a bookcase with few books and many CDs and a couch.

“This place is really nice.” Jimin said without thinking.

“It’s okay. Last year we had our own studios.” Yoongi said, slightly bitter. He turned around and faced Jimin. “You can start singing.”

“Now?” Jimin squeaked. He wasn’t ready to sing yet, not with the intimidating person (who turns out was only a little bit taller than him) right in front of him.

“Well I can’t help you without knowing where your vocal range is.” Yoongi shrugged.

“Makes sense.” Jimin sighed and took a deep breath. He decided he was going to sing his favourite song. He knew that it was too easy or difficult.

*Christmas Day*

Right now I’m thinking about your eyes
Staying still and looking up at me
Making me want to hug you
For me today too and tomorrow it’s Christmas Day

Still young and not knowing much about love
But I know what’s the most beautiful to me
Filing up my thumping heart
For me today too and tomorrow it’s Christmas Day

Jimin opened his eyes once he was done singing that part and looked expectantly at Min Yoongi. The older male still sat the same way as when Jimin had started singing.

“Well I can see why my uncle wants me to help you.” Yoongi said after a while. “You need a lot of work.”

“I need a lot of work?” Jimin repeated. He mood deflated. First his vocal coach said he was good and now this guy was telling him that his uncle only suggested help because he really needed it.

“Yeah, I’m sure I can try to help you though.” Yoongi sighed. He turned around and started working on something on his computer. “I have work to do so message me your schedule and I’ll look at times when we can meet.”

It took Jimin a full thirty seconds to realise that Yoongi was done with him.

“I’ll- I’ll do that, sunbae.” Jimin bowed and left the room, feeling down. He took the lift down to the ground floor and dragged his feet out the door. Jimin sighed and decided to just go home for today. He was glad he didn’t have any classes left.
