And We Said This Year Was Going to be Boring

Summary:

(L/N) (F/N) a.k.a. Djinn has just returned home for another school year to teach the future heroes from U.A. all that there is to know in regards to protecting oneself and others from mind invading quirks as well as be a shoulder to cry on when it comes to the trauma hero work brings. What this teacher didn't expect was for their husband's class to be made up of so many "problem children."

Or, basically, a gender-neutral reader insert set throughout the main story of My Hero Academia (MANGA AND ANIME SPOILERS AHEAD!!!).

Chapter 1: Back Home for School

Chapter Text

You’d woken up from your nap upon your flight landing. Hell, that was the priority reason you hadn’t used your quirk to go home in the first place; you desperately needed the sleep. The Americans had driven you up a wall, leaving you more exhausted than you’d care to admit, but due to your Pro Hero status as well as your position as a consultant when it came to training their future heroes, you kept yourself from transporting and leaving them at Antarctica, but just barely.

The other reason you’d taken them up on the first-class flight offer was that they’d already paid for it, and while your patience with the American government had thinned significantly, you still kept your mouthiness to a minimum. After all, you not only represented the Pro Heroes of your country but also the staff and students of UA since you graduated from the academy yourself.

Luckily, you were under a civilian alias for your trip home, and so did not have to wear your Hero costume, but the scratchy as all hell wig was starting to give you a migraine. As soon as you grabbed your carry on, you booked it to baggage claim, grabbed the rest of your luggage, and turned to face the man you’d been looking forward to seeing again the entire time you’d been away from home.

Aizawa Shouta took hold of your suitcase saying, “So you survived your flight.”

You covered your mouth as you yawned before responding, “Yep. Now I just want to go home to bed. Jet lag is killing me.”

He let out a small snort as he led you to the train station. You couldn’t help the smile on your face; it was rare to get even that much out of him.

The two of you somehow managed to find some seats on the train. Your coworker (and husband) wasted little to no time in leaning his head against your shoulder and took a quick nap himself, making you roll your eyes upon seeing him curl up to you like a cat once again. And upon seeing that everyone else was too busy in their little worlds, you slipped the damn wig off of your head and stuffed it into your carry on as you let your locks flow free, sighing in relief upon the lack of constriction around your skull.

You then turned your attention onto the passing scenery, finding comfort in the familiar surroundings along with the murmurs of your native tongue. Honestly, you would never take it for granted ever again, especially since the few Americans you met that could “speak” Japanese had essentially butchered the language except for your translator, who wasn’t even needed except for when you’d found yourself at the end of your patience and started speaking your native tongue automatically. Honestly, you were a bit insulted, especially since you were quite fluent in English. It was one of the reasons you were chosen to be a consultant in the first place. Hell, it was one of the few subjects Shouta had asked you and Hizashi for help with on occasion when it came to your time at UA.

Shouta woke up a few stops before yours and sat up as he stretched with a yawn. You rolled your eyes once again, only to end up with him poking you in the stomach as he said, “Your thoughts are going a mile a minute again.”

You just shrugged before grabbing your bag upon coming to your stop, Aizawa following your lead with your suitcase as the two of you made your way up to your shared apartment. Knowing that he wasn’t going to let it go anytime soon, you figured you’d delay the inevitable by asking, “Any idea who’s in your class this year yet?”

“Results are being sent out as we speak. Now, what’s going on?”

You sighed as you plopped onto your couch, Aizawa taking the available spot next to you as you muttered, “Fucking Americans. Their whole hero education system’s a mess. Makes the holes in ours seem minuscule in comparison.”

“I could have told you that from the get-go.”

You just scowled at him for a solid minute before closing your eyes, only for Aizawa to pull you closer to him so that you were laying on top of your fellow Pro Hero on your couch, your head on his chest as his hands rubbed everywhere they could reach. Knowing that you weren’t getting out of his grasp anytime soon, you embraced the man underneath you as you muttered, “I missed you.”

He didn’t say it back, and he didn’t need to. He just started tracing random kanji along your back as he helped you fall asleep once again.

Upon waking, you heard your husband of all people humming softly as his fingers sifted through your hair, and rather than attempt to fake continued unconsciousness, you snuggled closer so that you could hear his heartbeat as you murmured, "You should start a band. I'd sure as hell buy a CD from the back of your van."

You could envision him rolling his eyes at you as he asked, "Why would I do something so irrational?"

Hearing the small amused grin he was trying desperately to hide, you finally brought your face forward enough to place a peck on his lips as you answered, "Honey, I've convinced you to do far more irrational things. Marrying me being the most so."

He snorted in amusement as he held your face to bring you into a deeper kiss, a thoughtful "You have a point" leaving his lips upon pulling away. You then proceeded to pull that damn yellow sleeping bag over the two of you and zip it up, snuggling into his chest even more as you grumbled, "Now cuddle me, damn it. We have two months' worth to catch up on."

Shouta proceeded to sigh out, "Yes, Dear," only to follow with the most genuine and heartfelt kisses you'd received in a while.
