Star Wars Rebels One Shots

Summary:

One Shots about the Ghost Crew-The Specters.

Chapter 1: Need Suggestions

Chapter Text

I am starting a brand new one shot book about our favorite Space Family, Star Wars Rebels. Chapters will be between 600 and 1,000 words long. They can be about anything except lemons and/or drugs. They can either be set during the SWR series, during any of the 9 movies, Solo, Rogue One, or set during modern times. I would like this book to be around 20 to 30 chapters long. But, if I keep getting good suggestions, I will keep it going longer. I have a few ideas for my book, but I need some more suggestions, so would you please be kind and send me some of your ideass in the comments below. Thank you, and have a wonderful weekend. Chapter 2: The Cost Of Being A Hero

Summary:

Ezra is a firefighter, and is on scene when several other firefighters are killed.

Notes:

This is a real world AU.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Ezra's P.O.V:
I was playing pick-up basketball with the other firefighters at the station, when the alarm bell went off. "Ladder 77, Engine 77, Tanker 77, reported structure fire at 1532 Myers Road, 1-5-3-2 Myers Road." The dispatcher said. We immediately stopped our game, and went to put on our gear and get on the truck. Within 2 minutes of the alarm going off, we were in the Fire Truck, and on our way to the fire. We could see that there was heavy smoke coming from the fire. After getting the hoses out of the truck, the Captain sent both me and two others inside the burning building. The fight was going great, until the floor, weakened by the fire, collapsed, and two of the three fell into the basement. "Mayday, Mayday, Mayday," I shouted, The floor gave way, and Banks and Evans fell into the basement." I shouted. "Roger, understood. I'm sending in more to find them, get out, Bridger." The Captain said. After I got out, I walked overto the Captain, "I'm sorry, Captain, everything was going fine, until I heard a crash, and they disappeared, that's when I relayed the mayday." I said, looking down. The Captain put his hand on my shoulder, "Don't blame yourself, Ezra, it wasn't your fault, there was nothing that you could have done differently, the only thing you could have done, was to call me with a Mayday, and you did that well." "Thank you, Captain." I said, relieved. It wasn't until we got back to the to the Firehouse, that we learned that Jason Banks, and Todd Evans, the two firefighters who fell through the floor. Passed away at the hospital from all of their injuries. I came to the Captain, tears in my eyes, "Sir, why did they have to die, why wasn't it me." I asked, the Captain put a comforting hand on my shoulder, "When we signed up for this job, we signed up to help others. We signed up to Protect And Serve, and if required, we sacrifice our lives to save others. Their sacrifice is a sad reminder of the cost's of being a hero.

Notes:

If you have any suggestions for stories, or if want to rip me a new one because I totally screwed up, let me know in the comments so I can do better on future one shots. PHL_Plane_Spotter Out.

Chapter Text

I am in Charlotte attending a friends' wedding. But now, I need to head back to San Diego, because I'm stationed at MCAS Miramar. I am currently taking a Uber to Charlotte Douglas International Airport, to catch my flight, American Airlines Flight 1169. After passing through security, I arrive at the gate. After about an hour, they plane starts boarding, and I walk onto the plane and sit down in my seat 17A, a window seat. Shortly after I sat down, the aircraft pushed back from the gate and started taxiing. After a fairly short Taxi, the engines spooled up, and we were on our way to San Diego.

After about an hour and a half in the sky, the flight attendant came over the PA system with a chilling announcement, "Ladies and Gentleman, we've had an emergency, and is there anybody on board who can fly a plane?" Some audible gasps came from the passengers, but for me, it was easy, I raised my hand, and the flight attendant came over to me, "Sir, can you fly?" The FA asked, I nodded, "Yes, I fly F/A-18 Hornet's for the USMC at Miramar." After I told them that, they escorted me up to the flight deck, where there was a women sitting in the left hand seat, she instructed me to sit in the right hand seat, which I did. "What's going on?" I asked, she exhaled, "I believe the Captain passed away, and I need help to get this plane on the ground.

I started handling radio communications, while she flew the plane. "I've already declared a medical emergency, we are diverting to New Orleans." After about 45 minutes, we got onto final approach into New Orleans, "American Flight 1-1-6-9. you are cleared to land, Runway 2-9er. Winds 1-3-7 at 1-4. Gusting to 2-2." "Rodger, cleared to land, American 1-1-6-9. Then we landed. Then, after we landed, the ATC controller said, "There will be a truck With a Follow Me on it, it will direct you to Gate Charlie 7, Paremedics will meet you there." "Roger, follow Follow Me truck." We found the truck, and it guided us to Gate C-7, where we were greeted by Paremedics.

"Sir, you did very well today, thank you." The First Officer said. "Ah, no problem, I'm just glad I was able to help, by the way, I'm Kanan Jarrus" "I'm Hera Syndulla." She said, and we shook hands, "I'm a Marine Corps Aviator stationed out of Miramar, I was in Charlotte for a friends' wedding, and I was on my way back. "It's funny, you say that, because my base is San Diego." "Maybe we should meet one night." I said, while smiling."

I got her phone number, and one night, she called. After a few dates, we were engaged, and married about 18 months later. Now we have 2 kids. If it wasn't for the unfortunate circumstances, we would have never met, I guess that you can call it fate at 30,000 feet.

Notes:

Some technical details:
American Airlines Flight 1169(A real flight from Charlotte to San Diego)
Louis Armstrong International Airport has two runways: 02/20(NE and SW) 11/29(SE and NW)
Winds were 1-3-7(out of the SE) at 14 Knots(about 16 MPH) gusting to 22 Knots(25 MPH)

Chapter 4: Morals vs Greed

Summary:

Ezra faces a tough moral delimma after he finds a wallet with a large sum of money.

Notes:

This is a Real World AU.

Chapter Text

Ezra's POV:
Me and my friend Wege Antilles were walking out of the movie theaters after watching Star Wars Epiode VII: The Force Awakens when he found a wallet on the ground. He picked it up, and against my wishes, he looked inside and we were surprised at what we saw, at least 2500 dollars in 100 dollar bills. After I saw that, I immediately told Wegde to hand the wallet over to customer service, but his eyes lit up with greed, "Dude, think of everything that we could buy with all of this money." he said, but I shook my head, "No, this isn't right, we should turn it over to customer service." I said, while pointing at the customer service, but he refused, "What about that drone you wanted?" He said, and I thought about, but again, I shook my head, "I don't have the money for that." "Well, we do now." He said, but I didn't agree, "No, it's not right, it's basically stealing. And, if we get caught, we could be in some serious trouble, and not just from our parents." I said that, and that got him to change his mind, "Yeah, your right, it's not worth getting in trouble." He said, I the took the wallet from him, and we turned it over to customer service, along with our names.

About six weeks later, I got some mail from a name I didn't recognize. I gave the envelope to my mom, and she opened it. Inside the envelope, was a letter, addressed to me, it read. "Dear, Ezra Bridger, I want to thank you for finding my wallet at the movie theaters, I know that it was a tough decision, especially with all of that money in it, so as a small token of my appreciation, I have put 2 100 dollar bills inside this letter. You are a good man, Mr. Bridger. If you do the right thing, you are always rewarded at the end." I look inside, and my jaw dropped. Inside that letter, was indeed 2 one hundred bills inside, I showed her the letter, and the money, and she grabbed my shoulder, I hope to one day meet Mr Kenobi and thank him for this wonderful gift. When I saw Wedge, school on Monday, I asked him about it, and he got the same thing, he was very thankful that i steered him in the right direction of morals vs greed.

Chapter 5: I'm So Cold

Summary:

Ezra gets sick one night, while Hera and Kanan are out of town, and Sabine takes care of him.

Chapter Text

Ezra's POV:

I was watching a YouTube video on my IPad when I got very cold, I was freezing. So, I went to my room, grabbed two blankets, and went downstairs to see my adoptive sister Sabine, who was watching a movie. "What's wrong, Ezra" she asked, "I don't feel good, I'm freezing" I said, while shivering. "How?" She asked, "it's warm in hear since the heater is on." "I'm not sure, I'm just cold." I said, then sat down on the love seat. Then, I turned to Sabine, "When do you think that Hers and Kanan are going to be home tonight?" I asked, she sighed, "I'm not sure, they were going to out to dinner, and then they were going to see a movie." I looked down. "Hold on, let me grab the thermometer." She paused the movie she was watching, and got up. She returned a couple of minutes later with the thermometer, and I stuck it in my mouth, I was shivering so badly, that I could barely keep the thermometer in my mouhth, and she had to hold it in place. A couple of minutes later, it went off, and it read 99.6, almost a fever. After reading the thermometer, and seeing how badly I was shivering, she got up, wrote a note, left it on the kitchen table, went up stairs, grabbed some things, and then returned. "Move Over." She said, and I did so, then she proceeded to sit next to me, and got wrapped up in the covers. "I saw how bad you were shivering, and I felt bad for you, so I've decided to sit next to you, so that I could share some of my body heat with you." I thanked her, then we continued watching her movie, eventually falling asleep.

Hera's POV:

We returned home after watching the movies. After we went inside, I noticed that there was a note sitting on the kitchen table, it read, "Ezra came down stairs, absolutely freezing. I took his temperature, it was 99.6. He was shivering so badly, that I had to hold the thermometer in his mouth. I gave him some Tylenol to help with the fever. If he starts throwing up, or if his temperature spikes, I will call you." Sabine. After I read the note, I quickly walked into the family room, and my heart absolutely melted at the sight. Both Ezra and Sabine were sitting on the love seat, wrapped up in blankets, sleeping peacefully, while their heads were resting comfortably on each other's shoulder, I couldn't resist, I quickly grabbed my phone and got a picture of the two. After I took the picture, Ezra woke up, and looked at me, "How are you feeling, love?" I asked, he stretched. "Better, I was freezing. I've never felt like that before." We were talking for a bit, when Sabine woke up. "Thank you for helping Ezra, Sabine, I know that this wasn't the way you didn't want your Saturday to go, but thank you. I said. Ezra then turned to Sabine, "Yes, Sabine thank you, I'm so lucky to have a great big sister." He said, and then the two hugged, I shed some tears of happiness at the sight. "Well, if you want Ezra, you can sleep with me tonight." She said, and Ezra's eyes lit up. "Can I?" He said, and she nodded. Yes, come on, she grabbed his hand, leading him upstairs, "Hey, no pinkey pinkey tonight." I said, while smiling, and got ready for bed myself.

Chapter 6: Do You Love Me

Summary:

Ezra has a nightmare, and goes to Hera for reassurance.

Chapter Text

Ezra's POV:
I wake up in a cold sweat from a terrible dream**Start Dream: I accidentally tripped and fell, knocking into a table that held a priceless artifact on it, causing it to shatter. Hera, hearing the crash, ran into the room, only to see the priceless artifact in ruins on the ground, "Mom, I'mm-mm sorry, I didn't mean to, I tripped." but she wasn't having any of it, "Ezra Bridger!! How could you. This was my last connection to my ancestors, and you through it on the ground like it was garbage!!" She said, angrily, I tried to talk again, but she smacked me, causing me to fall to the ground, "Shut Up!! I don't want to hear a peep from your mouth, you piece of garbage!!" I look at her, tears filling in my eyes, "For once, I thought that I found a mother who loves, and cares about me, but I guess that I was wrong." I said, bawling my eyes out, she only rolled her eyes, "And I thought that I found a son that didn't treat priceless family artifacts like trash, unlike you. Now GET OUT!! IF YOUR ARE NOT OUT OF THIS HOUSE IN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES, THEN I WILL KICK YOU OUT MYSELF LIKE THE PIECE OF TRASH YOU ARE!!! I quickly got up off the floor, and ran away, endless tears coming out. End Dream** After I got up, I walked over to Hera, who was sleeping next to Kanan, "Hera, Hera, can we talk?" I asked, she woke up, "Ezra, what do you want, do you know what time it is? Ju-" Can we talk?" "Sure." She said, we walked into the sitting room, adjacent to their room, "What's on your mind, Ezra?" She asked, curiously, "Do you still love me?" Her eyes went wide, "Ezra Bridger, what makes you think that, of course I love you, I love you with all of my heart." I breathed a sigh of relief, "I had a dream where I broke your heirloom by accident, and you kicked me out of the house, calling me nothing but a piece of trash, I came over for reassurance." She just smiled, Ezra, even if you broke my heirloom, I would still love you, would I be pissed, absolutely, but I would still love you with all of my heart." After that, I walked up to Hera, and hugged her, who she hugged me back. After we broke, I went back to my room, but she followed me, "I believe that you could use a sleeping buddy tonight." I smiled, "Be my guest." I said, and she smiled. After we got to my room, I climbed in first, and then she climbed in. She then wrapped me up in her arms, kissed my forehead, and I fell into a dreamless slumber.

If YOU DONT COME OUT IN 5 SECONDS, YOU ARE GROUNDED FOR A MONTH!! I shout in rage. After what seems like an eternity, I feel a hand on my shoulder, "Woah, woah, woah, Hera what are you doing?!" Said Rex. I can't find Jacen anywhere, I've checked all of his hideouts, checked the vents, checked the cabinets, I've looked everywhere, and I can't find him, Rex, you have to help me!! But Rex just takes a deep breath, trying to get me to do the same, after a while, I calm down, "Hera, don't you remember? You dropped Jacen off at your fathers house before we left on this mission." My eyes going wide form the realization, "Oh, that's right, I forgot, nevermind." I said, Rex just smiled, and left. After he left, I just sat down on his bed, and bawled my eyes out. This is the first time that Jacen hasn't been by my side since he was born, and I don't like it one bit. I can't wait to get home, and have him in my arms again.

Chapter 8: Full acceptance

Summary:

Ezra is finally accepted for who he is after kicking a game winning field goal.

Notes:

Real World AU. My first LGTBQ chapter in this story.

Chapter Text

Ezra's POV:
It has not been a fun time on the football team ever since I came out a couple of months ago, I am gay. One of my teammates, Travis, caught me and my boyfriend, Jai Kell kissing. Instead of me getting bullied to death, and at the urging of both my boyfriend, and my coach, I decided to tell my team about my sexual stance, I still got bullied to death. It took about all of my faith to keep me from 1. Not quitting the team, and 2. Not committing suicide. The two who bully me the most is the aforementioned Travis, and Jimmy, both offensive lineman. Despite several warnings from our coach Mace Windu, the two still bully me mercilessly. Still, that's not going to stop from A) achieving my goal of becoming an NFL Place-Kicker, and B) Loving Jai. Still it was hard.

Tonight was the season finale against our rivals, the Ryloth Senators. We had a 6-3 record coming into the game, needing a win to have a chance to make the playoffs. It was late in the game, with us trailing 20-19(Having been a perfect 4 for 4 in field goals). It was 4th down and 6 with 7 seconds left, when our coach sends me in to attempt a school record 61 yard field goal. After we got set up, I nodded to the holder, who in turn nodded to the long snapper. This was the most pressure packed moment on my life, make the kick, get into the playoffs, miss this kick, and I will never hear the end of it. The long snapper snaps the ball, the holder holds the ball, with laces facing the uprights, and I kick with all my might. I watch the ball inch closer and closer to the uprights. It felt like an eternity, but the ball went through the uprights,my eyes nearly bugging out of my head when I saw the two refs standing underneath the goalposts, signal that it was good. My teammates mobbed me around the 50 yard line. After we shook hands with the other team, two players offered to carry me to the locker room. Those two players: Travis and Jimmy, the same two who have been bullying me this whole time.

Unfortunately, we ended up as the 17th seed at 7-3(Only the top 16 seeds qualify for the playoffs). Even though it we failed to make the playoffs, it was a huge success for me, because I was accepted for who I am.

Chapter 9: Sabine Was Home

Summary:

Sabine suprises Ezra at his High School Graduation.

Chapter Text

Ezra's POV:
Today is my graduation, and while I'm excited, I'm also upset, because one person will be absent, Sabine. She is a fighter pilot with the USAF, and she has been on deployment in Iraq for the past eight months. My only wish for tonight is that she was here, but. I know that she's here in spirit. We lined up on the football field, guys in blue, girls in white. Then, the band started playing the graduation song as we walked in. After the National Anthem, the band played the school fight song. Then, the class leaders made their speeches, and I was really board. Then, they started handing out the diplomas. My row was called up, and we got in line, then, after a bit of a wait, I got my diploma, then, the school superintendent stopped the graduation, "I would like to take a few minutes, Ezra's dad called me a couple of days ago. Ezra has a sister in the Air Force" I started crying when he spoke of her, "Ezra, next time you see your sister." I look over, and there stands MY SISTER!! I run over and pull her into the biggest hug ever, the crowd starting applauding as photographers starting taking pictures of our reunion. After the graduation, I met up with the rest of my family, and my sister, who I still wasn't believing was home. We went to one of our favorite restaurants, and I asked her, when did you get home?" She told me that she got home last night, and that she stayed at a hotel because she didn't want to take the chance of me finding out until the graduation. It was the best night of my life, simply because Sabine was Home.

Chapter 10: Should I stay or should I go

Summary:

Hera has the tough decision between abandoning either her son, or her husband on the Titanic

Notes:

Titanc AU Major Character Death

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

April 14th, 1912: Hera's POV:
My husband, Kanan, my child, Ezra, and I were on the RMS Titanic traveling in 2nd Class. We boarded in Cherbourg, France on a tender, the SS Nomadic. We've had a wonderful journey, until we were awoken by a steward, saying that we had to go onto boat deck because the ship maybe sinking. We put on warmer clothes, and our life jackets, and made our way to the boat deck. Once up there, they were only allowing women and children into the lifeboats. I had a difficult decision to make, I wanted Ezra in the lifeboat, but at the same time, I didn't want to leave Kanan. We have been married now for over 15 years, we've had Ezra in our lives for 11 years, and I do not know what to do. The right thing to do is to get in the lifeboat with Ezra, but my heart is telling me to stay with Kanan, and go down with the love of my life, or I could keep Ezra with us, and we all go down as a family, so many choices, finally, I make my mind up, as much as I want to stay with Kanan, I just can't abandon Ezra, so I give Kanan a kiss, tell him that I love him, and then both Ezra and I board the lifeboat. Shortly after we boarded, the lowered us down, and we rowed away. It wasn't long after, that the stern of Titanic started going higher and higher, until it broke in half, then, the stern went vertical, and plunged to the bottom of the Atlantic. Ezra hugged me, burying his head into my chest, refusing to watch his father die. After a few hours, a rescue ship, the Carpathia arrived, and we were rescued. Three days later, we arrived in New York City. We make have lost all of our possessions, and Kanan, but we still have each other, and we will restart, in America.

Notes:

I wasn't happy with how my original chapter turned out, so I chose to redo it. This story highlights the tough decision making that wives had about abandoning their husbands on the Titanic. I mean no disrespect to the 1500 lives lost on that tragic night in April, 1912.

Chapter 11: Need Suggestions

Chapter Text

Writers block sucks. Can't think of anything to write. Please, I need help.

Chapter 12: Racing crash

Summary:

Ezra is involved in a terrible crash while qualifying for a race.

Notes:

Based on the Michael McDowell crash at Texas in 2008.

Chapter Text

Ezra's POV:
"Are you ready, Ezra?" My mom asks me, while she puts her hands on my shoulder. I only nod. Good luck and be careful, please. After she releases me, I shake my dads hand, and I climb into my car, and get strapped in. After waiting for some cars, I get the go ahead head out onto the track for my qualifying attempt. After a poor first lap, I adjusted my line for the second lap. As I go into turn one, my car gets loose. I try to save it, but I over correct it.

Hera's POV:
I watch in pure horror as Ezra's car gets loose, hangs a right, and slams into the wall and overturns. Then, my heart outright stopped as it barrel-rolled at least 7 or 8 times before coming to a rest on its wheels. I turned around, and hugged my husband, sobbing, praying that my boy is alright. Then, as I'm trying to calm myself, I hear the greatest sound ever, I hear that he's climbing out.

Ezra's POV:
After the car mercifully came to a stop, I checked my fingers and toes, made sure that everything was in order. Once I verified that everything was, I put down the safety net, and began to extricate myself from the vehicle (with some assistance). Then I waved to the fans, and climbed into the ambulance for the mandatory ride to the care center. After I walked out, I saw my mom there. I'm unashamed to say that I put my arms around her and she just held me. I apologized profusely for not only scaring her half to death (which I did), but totaling the car. The car owner smiled and said, "Hey, cars can be replaced, lives can't. You are alright, that is what's most important." After that, I went off to do some interviews.

Chapter 13: It takes courage

Summary:

Ezra, Sabine, and Hera volunteer for a suicide mission

Notes:

Major character death

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Sabine’s POV:
Commander Sato finished detailing a plan to wipe out the last remnants of the Blue Shadow Virus. “The plan is to run the Star Destroyer into a supernova, which will destroy the ship, and the virus. Only one problem, the nava-computer is designed with several safeguards to ensure that a ship can’t jump into hyperspace through a supernova, so those will have to be disabled, what I fear is if nobody is aboard when the hyperdrive is activated, then the safeguards might reengage, and the ship will miss the supernova entirely, so somebody will have to stay on board, and ride the ship through the supernova. I know it’s a suicide mission, but I need a volunteer.” Commander Sato finished his statement. Instantly, I put up my hand, “I’ll go, I’m the most expendable.” “No, you won’t, Sabine.” Ezra shot back, “Your important to us as our bomb expert, plus the ship would get a little dull without you.” He said, “I’ll go, I’m the most expendable, I know the least about weapons, I’m no expert in bombs, and you still have Kanan as a Jedi.” He finished.

Ezra and I continued our banter into who was the more expendable until Hera stopped us, “Ezra, Sabine, stop. Now, I’m very proud of both of you, volunteering for a suicide mission is no easy feat, that takes tons of courage, but, as to who will be going on the mission, the answer is neither of you,” “Huh.” Both Ezra and I say, “That is because I will be going on the mission.” She said, “WHAT!!” Ezra and I said in unison, “Hera, you can’t, what about me? I can’t live without you, Hera.” Kanan said, tears forming in his eyes, but Hera was stoic, “Sabine, you’re important because of your experience in both weapons and bombs, and color. Ezra, you’re important because there aren’t that many Jedi left in the Galaxy, and having 2 Jedi is better than one. Me, I’m technically the most expendable, because I’m only a pilot, there’s plenty of them out there, and it won’t be hard to replace me.” She finished, “Yeah, but, it’s going to be hard to find somebody who’s going to keep us all together like you do, Hera.” I said, tears in my eyes, “Your our glue, without you, will fall apart.” Hera looked at her, “That’s why I expect you to stay together, and become more like a family in my absence, I know you can, and I know you will.” She said. “Alright, Captain Syndulla, I appreciate your willingness to sacrifice yourself, but your family is right, they will fall apart without you, so, in good conscience, I just can’t allow that, so I’m going to go on the mission because I’m the most expendable, Captain Syndulla, I hereby promote you as the Commanding Officer of Phoenix Squadron.” Commander Sato said. “Now, it has been an absolute pleasure being your C.O. for many years, I expect all of you to listen to Commander Syndulla just as well as you have listened to me.” He said and saluted all of us before making his way to the Star Destroyer. Kanan’s POV: “I’m very grateful for Commander Sato. We didn’t always see eye to eye, but I’m very grateful for what he did, because of him, I still have the Mandalorian who’s a daughter, the Padawan who’s a son, and most importantly, the Twi’lek who will someday be my wife, I don’t know what I would do without any of them. Thank you, Commander Sato.”

Notes:

I wasn’t happy with the previous chapter, so I chose to rewrite it.

Chapter 14: Silenced

Summary:

Ezra feels the destruction of Alderaan

Notes:

Takes places from Sabine’s POV.

Chapter Text

Zeb, Ezra, and I were completing repairs to the Ghosts’ outer hull while Hera was at some “secret meeting” for “Rebel Leaders” only being held by Senator Mothma on the other side of the base (Chopper is doing repairs on the inside).

Zeb had just finished the necessary repairs, when all of a sudden, Ezra bent over with his heart over his chest, almost like he was having a heart attack. After a few moments, his breathing returned to normal, “Are you alright?” I asked him, him nodded, then Zeb asked, “What happened?” After gathering his thoughts, he said that, “Just after we had finished the repairs to the hull of the Ghost, I felt a ‘Great Disturbance in the Force as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced, I fear something terrible has happened.”

After he said that, he started looking faintish, and both Zeb and I grabbed an arm. Then, he said, “I just want to lay down.” While starting to cry. “Okay, let’s go to your guys room. I replied. After the short walk (that must have felt an eternity to him), we got to Zeb and Ezra’s room. We laid Ezra down on Zeb’s bunk (not even bothering having Ezra try to climb up to his bunk). Then, after I covered him up with his covers, and gave him a kiss on the forehead (something that I do when I know that he’s distressed), both Zeb and I left to let him sleep peacefully.

After leaving Zeb and Ezra’s room, both Zeb and I sat down in the common room to talk. “Whatever happened, it sounds like bad news. I mean, when was the last time that Ezra asked to lay down?” Zeb asked, “Never” I replied, “He has so much energy. I don’t know how the Force works, but whatever he felt, could not have felt pleasant.”

We continued to talk for while longer, when Hera arrived unexpectedly. She stated that when she left earlier this afternoon, that she didn’t expect to be back by close to or sometime after midnight. For her to be back this early, is really disconcerting. “Oh Hera, What are you doing here, I thought that you weren’t going to be back until closer to or possibly after midnight?” I asked. She looked at me, and said, “Senator Mothma released us early from the meeting after we got word that Alderaan had been destroyed by the Death Star.”

Both of our jaws dropped, and we both looked at each other. This caused Hera to raise an eyebrow, “What’s going on?” I then replied, “We were repairing the Ghosts’ outer hull while you were at this meeting. We had just finished repairs, when all of a sudden, Ezra bent over, clenching his chest, almost like he was having a heart attack. I asked him if he was alright, to which he nodded, and Zeb asked him, “What happened?” He said that, “He felt a, ‘Great disturbance in the Force as if millions of people suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced’,and that he feared that something terrible had just happened.” After that, he started crying, stating that he just wanted to lie down, so Zeb and I grabbed him by one arm, and carried him in to their room, and laid him down on Zeb’s bunk, where he’s been sleeping ever since.”

As soon as I was done with my statement, Hera got up to go check on her, “boy”. Once she left, Zeb just slammed his fists together, “Kriffing Empire, haven’t they put that poor kid through enough.” “I know, Zeb.” I replied, getting a little teary eyed, thinking about how much Ezra has been through, “We all have lost a lot courtesy of the Empire.”

Chapter Text

Kanan and I went out on a supply run. And, as we made way up and down the aisles, I saw something I instantly wanted, a toy X-Wing. Seeing the price, I knew that I had enough (of my own credits mind you) credits to purchase it. With a smile on my face, I made my way up to the front of the store to get in line.

Then, my communicator went off, “Ezra, where are you?” Kanan asked me. “Making my way to the front of the front of the store to get in line to buy something. Why?” I asked. “Can you come here? I’m in aisle 23.” He said. Sighing, I walked back to meet him. “What do want?” I asked, “I want to get 4 of these power converters, but it says Only 2 per customer.” Looking at him curiously, I said, Hera only wants 2 power converters anyway, so why do you want 4?” I asked, he looked at me, sheepishly, “I thought I’d be nice, and get 4, that way we’re stocked up for a while. So do you mind buying 2 of them?” I looked at him, disappointedly, “Well, if I buy these, I won’t be able to get this.” I said, showing him the toy that I was planning on buying. Again, he looked at me, well, I don’t have enough credits for that, so, put that back, and buy those converters, please.” He said, a little more rougher than he meant to. Dejectedly, I handed him the converter and went to put the model back. Despite his best efforts, I did not say a single word to him, I was pissed beyond. I quickly got the supplies put away. And went into my room to vent.

[Hera]
“Ezra, love, are you alright?” I asked him after seeing go straight into his room after putting away the supplies. He almost never acts like that, he’s usually so happy, to see him that upset was disconcerting. “No” he said, from the other side of the door. I can tell from his voice, that he was crying, now I was really concerned, “Ezra hardly if ever cried, to see him cry like that was odd. Opening up the door, I saw the tear tracks on his cheeks, “What’s wrong, love?” I asked him. After gathering what remained of his composure, he told me what Kanan did. Too say that I was furious would be an understatement, I left Ezra’s room to seek out my “Hubby.”

[Kanan]
I was watching a show on the holoprojector, when Hera came in. And instantly I knew that I was in trouble. “What in the name of Ryloth make you think that we needed 4 power converters?” She asked. With her voice, I actually thought that I was going to die, “Well, I just thought that I would be nice and get 4, so that way we would be stocked up for a while.” I said, defending my decision, obviously, she wasn’t buying it, “Well, Kanan, we’re already “stocked up” on power converters, I asked specifically for 2 so that were “more” stocked up on power converters. If I had specifically asked for 4, I either would have either A) put it on the list, or B) called you. That’s all.” She finished, and left.

[Hera]
After I was finished with Kanan, I went back over to see Ezra. Knocking on his door, I heard, “Come in.” Opening up the door, I saw the pre teen lying on his bed, reading a comic, “Feeling better?” I asked, he nodded. “Yeah, still disappointed, I really wanted that X-Wing.” He said and sighed. Smiling, i said, “Come on, let’s go to back to the store, and get it.” I said. Looking at me, he said, “Are you sure?” “Yes” I nodded, Kanan was wrong for what he did, so I’m going to make it right, and I’m going to buy it.” I said. Going to the same store that Ezra and Kanan were at earlier, we went to the toy section, and went to were he went to where he left the X-Wing model, but it wasn’t there, somebody else had already bought it.

When Ezra and I got back to the Ghost, he went to his room, with tears in his eyes, and I went to go find Kanan.

[Kanan]
When I next saw Hera, she was hotter than the surface of Mustafar, and her rage was directed at me. “Good job, Kanan Jarrus. Because of you, Ezra couldn’t buy that X-Wing that he was going to buy. And it was going to be with his own credits, he wasn’t even going to ask one of us, you instead asked him to buy power converters WE DIDNT EVEN NEED and because of that, you cost him the chance to buy something for himself. Good Kriffing Job. Now, I hope you don’t mind being on your own, because you are sleeping in the common room for the rest of the week!” She shouted at me and walked away. I looked down in shame, man I really kriffed up this time, didn’t I.

Chapter 16: A miserable disease

Summary:

Ezra gets the Mumps, and has to spend some time away from the Ghost crew.

Nobody’s POV

Chapter Text

It started really, with Ezra complaining of neck pain, which he stated was in the front of his neck, and chills. Taking his temperature, she saw that he had a slight fever. During dinner, he complained that it was difficult chewing. The next day, Ezra started complaining of both a headache, and muscle aches, this was really concerning to Hera, as she knew that this was no ordinary cold. After that, he started complaining of pain in his midsection (especially his testicular region). That’s when Hera knew that she had to do something.

They started looking up human diseases that matched his symptoms. After a bit of research, they finally found it, it’s called the Mumps. A bad disease that has no real cure other than to administer painkillers until it passes, which generally takes about 1 to 2 weeks.

Seeing how long Ezra is going to be sick for, and knowing how long that this is a Ship of War, she knows that Ezra just can’t stay here. Going into the MedBay (where he has been staying lately), she smiles at the ill teen, “How are you feeling, love?” She asked, he smiled, lightly, “m’okay,” he said. Hera then took a deep breath, knowing that this was going to be a difficult conversation, “Ezra, listen too me, honey, with how sick you are, we’re going to drop you off at Yavin, ok love.” She said, tears pooling at her eyes. “Wait, I’m leaving?” He asked, incredulously, “Yes, love.” She said, heartbroken, “You have the Mumps, it’s a disease that will take roughly 1-2 weeks to recover from. In the meantime, it just won’t be safe to keep you here. It’ll be safer if you’re at Rebel HQ on Yavin.” After hearing that, Ezra heard that, he looked that down, with tears coming his cheeks,“But I don’t want to be there, I want too be with you guys in my home on the Ghost.” “I know hun.” Hera said,“but you have to be strong, okay. It’s going to be scary without us, but you can do it, I know you can, because you have are a brave kid Ezra Bridger.”

Despite his unwillingness, they made their way to Yavin IV, where they dropped him off, and put him into the medical ward of the base. After getting him settled in, the crew bid farewell, and then took off on a mission. It was hard for Ezra, 1. He was feeling like dung, 2. He was missing his family, 3. He was stuck in bed, with nothing to do except to watch videos on a holopad. So, yeah, this was going to be a long time for him.

He felt better it no time, and was ready to return to the Ghost, the only problem was, that didn’t happen. It was only supposed to be 2 weeks, but it took them over 3 months to come get him, They just didn’t have any time to get him because of how busy they were. And the worst part was, he didn’t have any communication with them during that stretch. Not once, did he talk to them.

But finally, 92 days after he left the Ghost, he saw it again. And most importantly, he saw the one person he wanted too see, Hera. He ran over to her and gave the Twi’lek that he considers a second mother the biggest hug ever, afraid that he would just go right through her when he wrapped his arms around her, “I missed you.” He said, with tears streaming down his face. She gave him a loving kiss on the top of his head, “I missed you too, sweetheart.” After they broke, he looked at her, and asked, “Why did it take so long to get here?” She looked at him, guiltily, “Ezra, trust me, if I could have, I would have come and gotten you, but we were just so busy with the Rebellion, that we just didn’t have time, it was literally mission after mission after mission, we barely had time for ourselves.” After accepting her explanation, he looked at Hera, and asked, “Would it be alright, if I slept with you, tonight?.” Ezra asked. Hera smiled, “Of course, Ezra!” And with that they walked into the Ghost, and took off, ready for their next adventure as a family.

Chapter Text

I woke up today, just not feeling good. I have a stomach ache, feeling feverish, chills, usually the sign of an oncoming stomach flu. The only problem is that today just so happens to be the annual Family Reunion on my dad’s side of the Family, and he’ll just think that I’m just faking being sick to get out of going.

Just as I predicted, my dad forced me to go, even though I felt like absolute sh*t. He was not convinced at all (even though my mom was convinced). The whole time at the reunion, I just whined about wanting to go home, because I wasn’t feeling good, but my dad wasn’t having any of, and told me to, “Can it.” My mom got me some food, but the smell (and really the thought) of food, just really made me want to empty my tank, but I didn’t, since there was nothing in my tank to empty (since I’ve hadn’t had anything to eat yet today)(nor will I, with how I’m feeling).

Finally, after a long, miserable, 3 plus hours, the reunion is over, and we can finally go home (or so I thought). As it turns out, my Aunt Ahsoka and Uncle Rex had invited us over to their place for a while, and of course, my dad jumped at the chance. I whined the whole time.

I actually fell asleep over at my Aunt and Uncles house, but my dad woke me up, saying that it’s, “Not polite” to fall asleep at other people’s houses (though he falls asleep their all the time.) And it was just after I was woken up by my dad, that my luck had run out. I sprinted to their bathroom, but didn’t quite make it to the toilet, and instead, threw up on the bathroom floor. It was after I got sick (for real), that we exchanged our goodbyes, I was extremely embarrassed (and apologizing profusely), but he said that it, “Happens to everybody, once in a while.” Then he gave me a trash bag for the car ride home, saying that, “It’s not out of the question that you might throw up again.”

During the car ride home, my dad said to me, “Ezra, why didn’t you mention that you weren’t feeling good, we would have left earlier?” I didn’t get a chance to answer, as my mom smacked my dad upside the head, “Are you kidding me, right now, Ezra has been say that he’s not been feeling good all (expletive) day. And what, it took him throwing up for you to finally figure it out! You jackass! You owe Ezra an apology!” But I didn’t hear most of the conversation, as again, I was tossing my cookies into the trash bag provided by my Uncle Rex.

After we got home, I was put into bed by my mom. Where I slept until the following morning. “Well, hello sleepyhead.” My mom said to me. Then she asked, “How are you feeling?” I just shrugged, and said, “Better than yesterday, that’s for sure.” Then my dad looked at me, and said, “Ezra, I want to apologize for yesterday, I guess that I just thought that you were faking it to try to get out of going. It wasn’t until you got sick at Uncle Rex’s house that I realized that you, in fact were not faking, and you really were sick. So sorry.” “It’s okay, I said, it’s just that, yesterday just sucked, and all I wanted to do was go home.”

Notes:

This is based on my own experience at the end of 2024. Although, unlike in my story here, I did that one to myself. After a family function, we went over to my Uncles house for a bit, and I was starting to not feel good (I had the stomach flu, just like in my story), but it looked like everybody else in my family was having a good time, so I faithfully kept my mouth shut (I even fell asleep). Finally, after a while, I had enough, and I told my mom, that I, “Had enough” and that, “I wanted to go home.” We did, where I eventually got sick.

Chapter 18: A devastating loss

Summary:

Ezra thinks that he has won a race, his first ever race of his career, but he has to wait.

Notes:

- Told from Ezra’s POV
- For this story, I’m including Wedge Antilles, but I’m going to substitute out Wedge for Michael
- For this story, Kanan is his Crew Chief
- Ezra’s number is 77, Wedge’s Number is 25

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

For most of the day, it had been me and another close friend, and rival of mine, Michael “Wedge” Antilles battling all day. It’s been back and forth all day between the two of us. At the white flag lap, with Wedge right behind me. As we go into turn four, he went high, and I went low, and we crossed the finish line in a virtual dead heat. “Yeah!!” I screamed in ecstasy at will be my first career win. I park my car on the start/finish line, waiting to, A) Do my victory burnouts, B) Get the Checkered Flag from the flag man, and C) Go to Victory Lane.

But as the wait gets longer and longer, my anxiety grows more and more. After a while, the call goes out over the radio, “25 is the winner, 77 is second, again 25 is the winner, 77 is second.” My heart sunk like a rock. “I had a feeling that was going to happen.” I thought bitterly to myself when it took so long to declare a winner.” Then, my crew chief, Kanan Jarrus piped up. I really wish he hadn’t,

“I’m sorry, bud, your day is coming, just keep your head down, and keep digging, and you’ll be the one standing in victory lane, I promise you that.” He finished, trying to keep my spirits high. While his words were nice, they made the loss hurt that much more because it reminded me of how close I was to getting that first win of my career. Instead, I’ll have to settle for yet another 2nd place finish, the 17th of my career, by far the most in series history by a driver who doesn’t have a victory.

The drive to my pit stall was miserable, seeing the 25 car doing the victory burnouts that I SHOULD HAVE BEEEN DOING hurt like hell, but It is what it is. I climbed out, and was interviewed by a reporter. I told the reporter how much it stung, but that I’ll bounce back, and maybe someday Lady Luck will shine her beautiful light on me.

Notes:

I know that this is on the shorter end,
- Based on the ending to the 2024 Spring NASCAR race at Kansas between Chris Buscher and Kyle Larson. At the finish, it seemed like that Buscher had won, but upon video review, it was determined that Kyle Larson Had edged out Chris Buscher. It was the closest finish in NASCAR history (.001)

Chapter 19: An angel from above

Chapter Text

With me too injured, and too weak to even stand up, and with the Grand Inquisitor standing right over me, smiling that evil smile (that makes me just want to puke my guts out) with his Light Saber illuminated, I know that it’s the end for me. It looks that my luck, that has held firm for me for so long, has finally ran its course. I say a quick goodbye to Kanan, Sabine, Zeb, and Chopper, as I prepare to meet my fate. I Hear the Grand Inquisitor say something, but I tune him out, then I see him raise his lightsaber, and I close my eyes, anticipating the end.

Then I heard clank. I assume that it was his lightsaber hitting pavement after decapitating me, but I looked up, and was absolutely shocked to see that a green lightsaber had stopped his red one, and now, whoever this person was, was dueling the Grand Inquisitor. After only a few seconds, the mysterious person had gotten the upper hand (no pun intended), and eventually cut the Grand Inquisitor right in half.

“There was no time to celebrate, though.” The mysterious man said, as he said that we had to escape now, as it won’t take long for the Empire to arrive. So we began running, him talking into a com on his arm. Next thing I knew, a U-Wing named the “Crusader” arrived, and we quickly made our escape.

I still can’t believe that I’m alive, I for sure should have died. I went up to thank him, he said, “No problem”. I told him that my name is Hera Syndulla, what is yours? He said, “Mine is Ezra Bridger”

He returned me to my ship, the Ghost, and to a very relived crew, especially my future husband, Kanan, who thanked him for returning me to him. After I was returned to the Ghost, I tried to get him to join us, but he he politely declined, thanking me for the offer, but stating that he’d much rather stay independent. And so, I watched his U-Wing leave, I thought about the man who saved my life, and kept my luck going, even when it looked like it had run out.

Notes:

- For the U-Wing, Think of the U-Wing flown by Jyn and Cassian in “Rogue One”
- For the fight scene between Ezra and the Grand Inquisitor, picture the fight between Anakin and Count Dooku in, “Revenge of the Sith”

Chapter 20: Feeling left out

Summary:

Ezra feels left out when the Ghost Crew keeps on going on missions without him, and he’s going to get to the bottom of it.

Notes:

- Kanan doesn’t die, and Ezra doesn’t disappear (Thrawn does die, and Lothal is liberated though)
- Takes place from Ezra’s POV

Chapter Text

“Uhh” I scream out in frustration as I watch Phantom II depart the Ghost. Earlier today, Senator Mothma had assigned us a mission to investigate some possible Imperial activity in a nearby Star system. “And guess who got the short end of the stick?” I thought bitterly to myself, “Every time they go out on a mission, I seem to be the one who gets left behind.” It’s almost as if Hera doesn’t trust me anymore. Once they get back (assuming they come back at all, considering all of the dangers that lurk out there), I’ll ask Hera why they never bring me along.

**Time Skip: A few hours later: Still Ezra’s POV**

After they safely returned, I found Hera in her most comfortable spot on the ship - the cockpit. Once I found her, I asked her if we could, “Talk privately?” She obliged, and both shut and locked the cockpit door, secluding us off from the others. Once that was done, she gave me her full and undivided attention. I then asked her, “Why is it that every time that we are assigned a mission, I’m the one who is left behind?” Please, I just want to know? Do I smell? Am I just a burden? Am I no longer trustworthy? Please, I just want to know?” I said to Hera, practically in tears.

When I finished, Hera was nearly in tears herself. trying, but ultimately failing to contain them. She then, opened up her arms, and I gladly fell into her arms, and into her hug,

“Ezra, listen to me, honey, you are not a burden, and you are most certainly trustworthy. The simple answer is that every time we go out on a mission, there is never a guarantee that we will come back. And Kanan always thought that is was best that you stayed behind so that in case the absolute worst came to pass, there would still be at least one Jedi in this Galaxy. I’m sorry that I kept this hidden from you, will you please forgive me, sweetheart.” She said, then gave me a kiss on the side of the head. “Absolutely” I said to Hera, as I sat in her lap.

She then whispered into my ear, “Next time we go out on a mission, you’ll be coming along. Alright, sweetheart.” She said. I smiled, then nodded my head.

Chapter 21: Method to the Madness

Summary:

Zeb and Sabine are jealous that Hera is taking Ezra to McDonald’s and not them.

Notes:

- Real World AU (Takes place on Christmas Eve)
- Takes place from Sabine’s POV

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

I watched with pure jealousy that Ezra (the seemingly favorite step child) got to go alone with our (surrogate) mother, Hera to McDonald’s, while us two, Zeb and I had to stay behind. “Man, sometimes I would like to just b——slap that punk who seems to get all of the perks.” I looked over at Zeb, and he had the exact same thoughts that I did.

Once our father came home, and made us dinner. We asked him, “Why is mom taking Ezra out to McDonald’s, and not us?” He explained that there is a, “Method to the Madness.”

After looking at him, funny. He explained that, “The reason that Your mother took Ezra out to McDonald’s for dinner and not you, is so that he doesn’t hear what I’m about to tell you.” He said. Both Zeb and I looked at each other strangely, “What’s that?” I asked,

“This year, for the big family vacation, we’re going to Disney for the week.” Dad said, both Zeb and I got really excited at the news, “We leave in two days, December 26th.” Unfortunately, we just didn’t have the money to send everybody to Disney, so we had to leave one of you behind. Your mother and I couldn’t decide, so we chose school grades. Sabine, you have the highest with Straight A’s across the board. Zeb, your second with a solid A-, and Ezra is third with a B+, borderline A-. Therefore we chose Ezra as the one who would unfortunately have to stay behind, while the rest of us went to Disney.”

After dad concluded his story, everything made more sense. Mom took Ezra out to McDonald’s, so that he wouldn’t hear what was going to happen to him. He would hear about the big family trip to Disney World, then he’s going to find out that he’s not apart of the trip, and his world will be shattered. Instantly, both me and Zeb went from being jealous of the kid, to feeling sorry for him, knowing that in a little over twelve hours, his world will be absolutely shattered.

And shattered it was. After dad reminded us to act (somewhat) surprised. He told us of the big Jarrus trip to Disney World! Ezra was excited beyond belief, which made my heart ache for him. After that, he told Ezra that because of his low grades (even though they weren’t that low), that he wouldn’t be partaking in the trip to Disney. Suffice it to say, his screams of anguish probably could be heard from China.

Notes:

I know that it’s not Christmas time, but the story popped into my head, and I liked it, so deal with it.

Chapter 22: A long, painful wait

Chapter Text

Sunday, December 7th, 1941
12:30PM
Sabine’s POV

It has been a spectacular December day, here in Northeastern Pennsylvania. It’s been in the low 70’s with little (to no) cloud cover. The day started off great. After meeting up with the (step) parents of my fiancé, Ezra Bridger, Kanan Jarrus, and Hera Syndulla-Jarrus for church, we went to a local diner for breakfast. After coming back to Kanan and Hera’s house, Kanan got started on some yard work (He took advantage of it while he had the chance, because cold temperatures were expected to make a comeback next week), Hera and I cleaned up the kitchen.

About an hour later, Kanan was done with what yard work he wanted to get done, and both Hera and I finished cleaning up the kitchen save for a few last minute dishes that Hera was finishing up. The three of us were talking, while the radio was playing a rerun of some game show. The game show started its next segment, when all of a sudden, the programming stopped,

“Ladies, and Gentleman, we interrupt this radio broadcast to bring you this important news bulletin, NBC is reporting that Japan has attack the United States Military Installation at Pearl Harbor, and that there has been, “A Great Loss Of Life” Once again, NBC is reporting that Japan has attacked the United States Military Installation at Pearl Harbor, and that there has been, “A Great Loss Of Life” Once more information is available, we will certainly pass it along. But as of right now, we will return you to your normal programming.”

“Once the newsman finished with his bulletin, Hera went into hysterics, and dropped the dish that she was cleaning onto the ground, and it had exploded into a million fragments. It took some time, but Kanan managed to finally calm her down. While he was doing that, I grabbed the dustpan and broom, and cleaned the remains of the dish that Hera had dropped, and tossed it in the trash.

After I finished that, I told him what I did, and he thanked me, then he asked me how I was doing, and all I said was, “Not to good.” Then I proceeded to break down. As I broke down into tears, he grabbed me, and held me in a bear hug, and then whispered to me, “All we can do is pray.”

They next day, just like every other American, we listened to FDR’s speech calling out the Japanese as liars, and asking Congress for a “Declaration of War.”

**Time Skip: Saturday, December 20, 1941: Still Sabine’s POV**

“It’s now been 13 days since the attack, and still no word from Ezra, nor the War Department or the Department of Defense. Kanan has asked several times, and every time, he gets the same answer: MIA (Missing In Action), it’s taken just about all of Kanan’s faith in God to not got over to the War Dept. and murder everybody, he’s that freaking POd, and he never gets that way.

It’s hard for me to believe, but I just have to accept the inevitable, “Ezra is Dead.” He’s either shot down (because he was a pilot, after all), on a ship that was sunk, or a ship that blew up, and his body was so horrifically burned, that it couldn’t be identified. I’ll never be able to marry the love of my life.

Just as all hope seemed lost, there was a knock at the door, and Kanan went to go answer it. Seconds later, Kanan returned, with a letter.

“It’s from Ezra, It came in this morning.” Kanan said, excited, Once Rex saw it, he shut down the Post Office, got on his bicycle, and peddled all the way over here, just to deliver the letter.

Hera, losing her patience for the first time (since I’ve met her), yelled at Kanan to hurry up, wanting to here what “Her boy” had said

After Kanan opened up the letter, he got it out, and read it, and it said,

“Dear Mom, Dad, and Sweet Sabine,
I’m sure that by the time you have received this letter, you will have heard about the “Attack on Pearl Harbor?” Well I’m happy to report that I survived the attack, and that’s because I wasn’t there. I was on the USS Enterprise, and thankfully, none of the Carriers were in port during the Attack. Unfortunately, many of the men that I knew weren’t as lucky, and didn’t survive. Now that we’re at War, I can’t tell were I’m shipping out to, but I can tell you this, we’re going to make those bastards pay for what they did to our Country. And Sabine, we’ll have that wedding when the War’s over, you have my word.

Love, Always

LT(JG) Ezra J. Bridger, Jr, USN

After we finished reading the note, there was not a dry eye in the room. Hera was bawling her eyes out. I was doing the same, hell, even Kanan was shedding some tears. When I saw the “You have my word.” Part on his note, it was almost like a sign to me that he was going to make it through the war.

Notes:

- This story highlights the excruciating wait that loved ones must have gone through in waiting to hear if their loved ones survived the Pearl Harbor Attack
- I mean no disrespect to the 2,403 Americans (both in the military, and civilians) who were killed in the Attack on Pearl Harbor

- The idea for this chapter is from a game in the early 2000’s called “Medal Of Honor: Rising Sun” A first person shooter game where you play Lance Corporal Joe Griffin. After each completed mission (That starts at Pearl Harbor), there is a segment called, “Letters From Home” where Joe receives letters from his sister, Mary. The first letter talks about how worried Mary and their family is until they get a postcard from Joe stating that he is alright.

- LT(JG): Lieutenant Junior Grade

Chapter 23: We just can’t be together

Summary:

Sabine prepares herself to make the hardest decision of her life.

Notes:

- AU
- From Sabine’s POV
- Takes place post Rebels
- For obvious reasons, Ezra doesn’t disappear

Chapter Text

Today, I saw an extremely happy Ezra, and that made me want to just pull out one of my bombs, drop it at my feet, and blow myself to smithereens. I wish that I could do that, because in a few short minutes, I was going to absolutely shatter his world into a million pieces. For the last couple of years, Ezra has been trying to get into a relationship with me. And although I would absolutely love to be in a relationship with him (who wouldn’t), I simply can't. And that’s because I’m lesbian, I only date girls, not boys. So, even though I’d love to be in a relationship with him, I have to stick to who I truly am.

Ezra gave me his usual antics (and tried to impress me, which I liked, but mostly internally rolled my eyes at). Once he was done, I took several deep breaths, and finally told him, “Ezra?” I said, “Yeah.” He replied, “I love everything that you’re doing for me, and I’d love to be in a relationship with you, but I simply can’t. I’m going to have to say goodbye.” The words tasted like poison inside of my mouth.

I could tell from his reaction, that he was absolutely heartbroken. “What? Why? Why are you leaving me?” He had so many questions, more questions than I had, answers. And from seeing his reaction. I nearly lost it, but managed (somehow) to keep it together.

Through tears of my own, I answered, “Ezra, I’m a lesbian, I only date girls, not boys.” then he said something to me, that stung, “Can we at least still be friends?” As soon as he asked that, I lost it, and grabbed him, and gave him the biggest bear hug I could manage, “Of course we’re going to be friends, Ezra. You’ll always be my friend.” I said through my tears.

After calming down, I said, “Trust me, there is some lady out there who you are going to marry, and then you are going to have kids with. And when that wedding happens, I’ll most certainly be at wedding applauding Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Bridger, you have my word, okay.” “Okay.” Ezra, said, deflated, his heart in a million pieces, just as I had predicted.

Chapter 24: Worth It

Summary:

Hera agrees to lead Red Squadron in the Death Star Assault

Notes:

- AU (Takes Place during A New Hope - Duh)
- From Kanan’s POV
- Kanan/Hera Centric
- Kanan doesn’t die (obviously)(Unlike in SWR Canon, he isn’t blinded by Maul)
- Zeb and Sabine are present
- Ezra does disappear with Grand Admiral Thrawn (Like in SWR Canon)
- Unlike in SWR Canon, Jacen is never born
- Reference to Major Character Death

Chapter Text

“There’s one more thing.” General Dodanna said during the briefing prior to the Attack on the Death Star that was coming to blast the Rebellion to bits, “General Dreis is sick, and therefore unable to command Red Squadron. I need a volunteer.” Before the words were fully out of his mouth, Hera already had her hand up (I should have seen that coming).

“I’ll lead Red Squadron” Hera said, “I’m the best pilot outside of General Dreis.” “I knew that I could count on you, General Syndulla” General Dodanna said, “You’ll be Red One.” “Yes sir.” Hera said, “Man your ships, and May the Force be with you.” General Dodanna said.

As we walked to the X-Wing that both Hera and Chopper will be in, I was hurting inside. My girlfriend (would be wife), and the droid, that I consider a pet are going on a mission that I consider 100% suicidal. Let’s put it this way, There’s a better chance of Emperor Palpatine surrendering then Hera and Chopper surviving this mission.

As Chopper was being loaded into the X-Wing, I was about to say something, when Hera looked at me, and said, “Whatever you were going to say, save it, because I’m going on this mission, and nothing is changing my mind.” I sighed, and said,

“Just hear me out, this is a suicide mission. When you close the canopy on your X-Wing, you might as well be closing the lid on your casket, because you’re not coming back. Most, if not all the pilots who go all on this mission aren’t coming back, I just want you to know that.”

She then sighed, and said to me, “I know, but trust me, if we succeed, and the Death Star is destroyed, it will lead to Rebel victory, and restoration of peace in the Galaxy, and that will make the sacrifices of the pilots today (and that most likely includes Chopper and myself) worth it.

After she said that, I hugged and kissed her. And while holding back tears, I said “May the Force be with you.” She nodded, and climbed into her X-Wing, and took off.

Of the 30 or so Rebel pilots that went up, only three returned (two X-Wings, one Y-Wing), but Hera wasn’t one of them. When she and Chopper were killed, I felt a disturbance in the Force, followed by the absence of her Force Signature. Hera, my longtime girlfriend was gone.

Shortly thereafter, I felt a greater disturbance in the Force (not as badly as the one I felt when Alderaan was destroyed), followed by cheering. I went outside, and saw a glowing white light in the sky, the Death Star had been destroyed. Just then, I realized that Hera had been right. She (and Chopper) maybe gone, but their sacrifices (as well as the sacrifices of the other Rebel pilots) will be well and truly worth it.

Chapter 25: Leaving the Nest

Summary:

Hera watches Jacen fly off to his new assignment. Suffice it to say, she gets a little emotional.

Chapter Text

Every parent that at some point, their child has to leave the nest at some point, and forge their own path to greatness. But for General Hera Syndulla, she didn’t realize that it would come this quickly.

“Are you all packed up and ready to go?” I asked Jacen for like the hundredth time this morning. “Yes, mom.” Jacen said to me, as he rolled his eyes, “I’ve double and triple checked everything, it’s all there.” He said, “I bet that I’ll find something that you forgot.”

It seemed like yesterday that Jacen was holding my hand as a five year old, dreaming of becoming a pilot, just like his mother. Now, ironically, as he’s getting ready to go, I’m the one who doesn’t want to let go, but eventually, I know that I’ll have to.

“All pilots of Knightwolf Squadron to their ships. All pilots of Knightwolf Squadron to their ships.” The guy on the PA said

“Well Jacen, good luck, and May the Force be with you.” I said, desperately trying to hold back tears, “I love you, mom. He said, as he hugged me. “I love you to, sweetheart.”

After the X-Wings departed, I returned to my office. There, I saw a picture of him, and it reminded me that there’s no guarantee that I’ll ever see him again. That’s when the tears came on, and I didn’t even bother trying to stop them.

Chapter 26: A Ship That Looks Like Her

Chapter Text

I just made contact with the others on Lothal. Attack preparations are underway. Tomorrow morning, approximately 12 hours from now, we will launch the attack on Lothal to destroy the Fuel Depot for Grand Admiral Thrawn’s TIE Defender Project.”

Taking a look at my X-Wing, then at the Ghost, then at my X-Wing, then at the Ghost, I decided to take inspiration from Sabine. I found one of the Crew Chiefs and asked him if it was possible to “Repaint my X-Wing so that it would (somewhat) look like the Ghost?” He said that “He could do it, no problem.” And that “He’d jump right on it.”

I thanked him, and then watched from the Ghost as he and his men (and women - since there was a female Twi’lek helping him) repaint my X-Wing. As I watched, Chopper rolled over, and asked why my X-Wing was being painted “Like the Ghost?” I shrugged my shoulders, and told him that,

“I’m not going to bead around the bush here Chop, I think that this is going to be our last mission together, I think that we are leading a suicide mission. And should we die, I want us to die in a ship that looks like the her.”

After I said that, he got closer to me, and I patted his dome, while we just watched our ship be repainted in the colors of our home.

Notes:

- This is my take on why Hera’s X-Wing in “Rebel Assault” looks so much like the Ghost.

Chapter 27: Dark Side Awakening

Summary:

Both the Inquisitors and The Ghost Crew get a look at Ezra’s Dark Side when he duels the 7th Sister

Notes:

- AU (Takes place during Twilight of the Apprentice)
- For this story, Maul WILL NOT appear
- Vader still duels Ahsoka like in SWR Canon (although she survives)
- Kanan is never blinded like in Twilight of the Apprentice
- From Ezra’s POV
- Ezra/7th Sister (Ezra/Kanan, Ezra/Ahsoka) centric
- For Ezra’s duel with the 7th Sister, picture the duel between Anakin and Count Dooku in “Revenge of the Sith”

Chapter Text

Kanan, Ahsoka, and myself were on the Sith planet Malachor when the Empire decided to make their presence known with three figures, the 7th Sister, 8th Brother, and Vader. Ahsoka took on Vader, Kanan took on the 8th Brother, while I took on the 7th sister.

The 7th Sister was a fairly good dueler, I’ll give her that, but I was better. And once I reduced her two bladed saber down to one, I started going to town on her, physically imposing my will on her, until I severed both of her hands, caught her lightsaber in midair, and held both my blade and her blade underneath her throat, threatening to decapitate her. “Give me one good reason why I should let you live?” I said to her, my voice dangerously cold, “We’re Uh’ best friends.” She said, nervously, but I wasn’t buying it,

“Incorrect.” I said, without a hint of sarcasm in my voice, “Ezra, stop! Let her go! She’s not worth it!” Kanan yelled towards me,

Taking a deep breath to find my balance again, I said to her, “You’re lucky I’m in a good mood, so you get to live. But if I ever get to see your pathetic excuse of a face again, you may not be so lucky.” I yelled to her, “Now, get out my sight.” I Forced pushed her into a wall, knocking her senseless.

Returning to the Phantom, the three of us (plus Chopper) made our escape towards Atallon. “What was that all about, Ezra?” Ahsoka asked me, “Oh, I was just sending her a message about what will happen if she ever sees me again.” “Well, all you did was give the Empire more of an excuse to go after you because you would essentially be Vader 2.0”

After she said that, I felt really guilty, “I’m sorry, Ahsoka and Kanan, I guess that I allowed my emotions to get the better of me.” “That’s for sure.” Kanan said, “Don’t ever do that again, because you just gave the Empire another excuse to go after us, and we certainly don’t need that.”

Chapter 28: Obviously, you don’t know

Summary:

Ezra died rescuing Hera, so why is he here now?

Notes:

- AU (Takes place at the start of Dume)
- Starts from Zeb’s POV (Then switches to Kanan’s)
- Starts just after Kanan, Hera and Sabine arrive back at their campsite on Lothal

Chapter Text

I watched at the TIE Gunship arrived back at base, glad that they made it. But as it would turn out, that relief would be short lived when Sabine got out, and threw down her helmet, and walked away, wiping tears from her eyes. “Sabine! Hey, Sabine!” I shouted, but still, nothing. I looked across, my once gleaming smile now gone. I saw Hera walk away, as Chopper rolled towards her. And then I saw Kanan, who just looked broken, and defeated, “Boss, tell me what’s going on, please?” I pleaded,

“Ezra’s gone.” He said.

What do you mean gone, like captured.” I asked, confused

“No! He’s gone.” Then it finally clicked, as I took Kanan into my arms, and he hugged me.

**From Kanan’s POV**

Later on that night, I was just sitting by myself, when a figure came up to me. “Miss me, Kanan?” I couldn’t believe it, “Ezra?” I asked, “The one and only.” He smiled, “How did you survive?” I asked, wondering if this is a vision or not, “Oh no I didn’t, I died when the Fuel Depot blew up. That’s why I jumped out to push both you AND Hera back into the safety of the Gunship, because I knew that I was going to be alive, no matter what, you wouldn’t have.” He said. But you still didn’t answer my question on how you survived.” I asked, “I already told you, I didn’t, I died.” He said, “Then tell me!” I said, losing my patience,

“Some Lothalians are born with nine lives. Not all of them, but some of them. I just so happened to be one of them. This was the first time that I actually “died”, so now I’m down to eight. When my parents told me of my gift, they told me to keep it a secret. Well, now that secret is out.” He said

“Well, since the secret is officially “out”, let’s go tell everybody about your survival.” “I agree.” He said

We made it back to camp, and when we walked up, Sabine’s face lit up like a Christmas tree, “Ezra?” She asked.

“Yes, Sabine, the one and only.” “How are you still alive?” She then asked, “It’s like I explained to Kanan, I did not survive. But some Lothalians (like myself) are born with nine lives (well now I have eight).

As soon as Hera saw Ezra, she started crying, and gave him a big hug, followed by the requisite “Don’t you dare try that stunt ever again.” Talk.
But, with the knowledge that Ezra has eight additional lives, makes him much more valuable, because it’s makes him much more expendable. But right now, we’re just glad to be a family again.

Chapter 29: Shell Shocked

Summary:

Hera suffers an Anxiety Attack the first time she flies an X-Wing since Lothal, and Chopper has to play the role of Hero.

Notes:

- AU (Set prior to “Ahsoka”)
- Chopper’s POV
- Chopper/Hera centric
- “Hera/Humans is/are talking”
- *Chopper is talking*

Chapter Text

“Ready Chop?” *I’m always ready. What are we doing again?* “We’re going scouting for Imperial Forces, and we’re taking out an X-Wing.” *Are you going to be alright? It’s been nearly a decade since we’ve been in one. Since, you know, what happened on Lothal.* “Aw. I appreciate your concern, Chop. I’ll be fine. We’re only going to be out for an hour or two, okay.”

The instant that the engines fired up, and the canopy closed, and we made our way out with the others, I knew that something was wrong.

*Hera, is everything okay? Your flying is off.* “Chop, take control, I can’t do this, I feel like my world is spinning, I think that I’m having a panic attack.” *WICO*
(Takes Control)
*Mayday! Mayday! Mayday! This is C1-10P, General Syndulla’s Astromech Droid. I am currently flying her X-Wing as she is currently incapacitated due to a a severe Panic Attack and unable to operate the craft.*
(ATC)
“Roger, C1-10P. Return to landing Pad, there will be a medical team waiting for you when you arrive.”
*Roger.*

When Chopper landed the X-Wing, he immediately popped open the canopy, allowing the medical staff to give full attention to Hera. The sight was seen was not a pretty one. Hera was shaking, and it was pretty obvious that she had vomited. After extracting the Twi-Lek from the X-Wing, the one EMT asked, “What happened?”
*About ten years ago, General Syndulla and I were shot down over Lothal while attempting to destroy the Fuel Depot for the TIE Defender Factory, and she was subsequently captured. Eventually, she was rescued, and the Fuel Depot was destroyed. But her rescue came at a great price. The man who was to become her husband gave his life to protect her. That’s where her PTSD came from.
I asked her if this assignment was a good idea, and she said that she was, “Good to go.” Clearly that was a lie.

A couple of hours later, I went go see my owner on the Ghost.
Entering her room, I saw her lying on her bed.
*Are you alright* “I’m good, just embarrassed.” *What happened today wasn’t your fault.* “Yes it was! You said that flying was a bad idea, and you were right.” *I don’t know if this will help or not, but there is only one person in this Galaxy that I will fly to hell and back with, and that’s you.* “Thanks, Chop (Wipes tear from eye), that means the Galaxy to me.” *You were the only one who put in the time and effort to rebuild me, when everybody else would have just scrapped me.* “You know, Chop. You’re a Pain In The Ass, but you’re MY Pain In The Ass, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.” (Both fall asleep together with Hera’s hand resting on Chopper’s dome)

Chapter 30: Ultimatum

Summary:

We all know what happened in “Twin Suns”, when Maul “Manipulated the Truth” (according to Obi-Wan) to lure Ezra to Tatooine.

But what if it that wasn’t the case. What if it was different. What if, Maul actually contacted Ezra directly, and gave Ezra an Ultimatum.

Notes:

- AU (Takes place during “Twin Suns”)

Chapter Text

I was meditating in the Common Room of the Ghost (as everybody else on the ship) had gone to bed. While I was meditating, I slipped into a vision,

Waking from said vision, I got up, and immediately went outside. Sometime later, one of the Droids, R4-C6 came over, and showed a projection of a face, the same face that I saw in my vision,

“EZRA BRIDGER!!” The face yelled, angrily.

“What do you want Maul?” I asked, as everybody, (including Kanan, Hera, Zeb, Sabine, and Chopper) came over,

“I want you to come to my present location. If I can’t turn you to the Dark Side, then I’ll just have to kill you, one duel, you me, to the death.” “Where is your present location?” I began to ask, but Kanan stopped me, “If he goes, we all go, simple as that.”

To that, Maul started laughing, “Do you think that this is funny?” Kanan asked, incredulous,

“No, I can’t believe how naive you are?” Maul taunted again, “Did you really think that it would be that simple, Master Jedi?” “See, I know the precise location of your pathetic Rebel Cell, it’s Atollon. See this little red button? It has a direct link to Grand Admiral Thrawn and the Imperial 7th Fleet. With a touch of this button, it will notify them within seconds the exact location of your exact location, and the next thing you know, you will have a much larger problem on your hands.

“You have two choices Ezra Bridger. Battle me at my location in 12 hours? Or I will push the little red button, and Thrawn will be at Atollon faster than you can say pathetic.

“How do we know that you’re not bluffing just to make yourself look big?” Hera then inquired I think tha- before she could finish her thought, Maul started choking her, while raising her off the ground, “Let her go, Maul!” Kanan demanded, “I don’t think that I’m in the mood. You know, I think that I might just be more in the mood for hitting the button.” He said.

With Hera on the verge of losing consciousness, I knew that there was only one way that I could save her, “I’ll do it! I fight you, Maul.” “Excellent!” He said, as he carelessly dropped Hera on the ground, as she fought to catch her breath.

Meet me on Felucia, and come alone. If I see that there’s more than one, I’ll most certainly push the red button, then he disappeared.

Chapter 31: A Gift For You From The Three Of Us

Summary:

It’s the day of Hera and Kanan’s wedding. And when the time comes for the Newley Weds’ First Dance, their “children” decide to give them a memory that they will cherish for a lifetime.

“Alright, we’re about to begin tonight’s festivities. And we’ll start with the traditional first dance of the new husband and wife. The song that they have chosen is “I see the light” from the movie “Tangled. Lets give it up for the new husband and wife, Kanan Jarrus, and Hera Syndulla-Jarrus

[Everybody applauds]

[Zeb then starts playing the Piano]

[Sabine]
All those days, watching from the windows
All those years, outside looking in
All that time, never even knowing Just how blind I’ve been Now I’m here, blinking in the starlight
Now I’m here, suddenly I see
Standing here, it’s all so clear
I’m where I’m meant to be

[Sabine & Ezra]
And at last, I see the light
And it’s like the fog has lifted
And it last, I see the light
And it’s like the sky is new
And it’s warm and real and bright
And the world has somehow shifted
All at once, everything has shifted
Now that I see you

[Ezra]
All those days, chasing down a daydream
All those years, living in a blur
All that time, never truly seeing
Things, the way they were
Now she’s here, shining in the starlight
Now she’s here, suddenly I know
If she’s here, it’s crystal clear
I’m where I’m meant to go

[Sabine & Ezra]
And at last I see the light

And it’s like the fog has lifted

And at last I see the light

And it’s like the sky is new

And it’s warm and real and bright
And the world has somehow shifted
All at once, everything is different
Now that I see you

Now that I see you

Everybody applauds, as Hera absolutely loses it, and runs up to her kids. Together, the 5 of them hold on to each other as the photographer takes pictures of them, now officially as a family.

Hera gets PTSD after watching Ahsoka leave with the Purrgil

Notes:

AU (Post Ahsoka S1, E5 “Shadow Warrior”)
Hera’s POV
Hera/Jacen centric
Ezra and Sabine also make a brief cameo

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

**Flahback: Ten years earlier, the Liberation of Lothal: Hera’s POV**
“When they start glowing like that?” I ask of the Purrgil, as their tentacles began to glow. “They’re about to jump into Hyperspace!” Sabine shouted frantically, as we both realized that Ezra was still on the Chimera, “Ezra, Ezra get out of there right now. That’s an order.” I commanded him, “Hera, I have to see this through to the end.” Ezra said. My heart was broken, as I realized that my boy was sacrificing himself, the same way that Kanan did. “Ezra, please. Get out of there!” Sabine tried reasoning with him, but I knew that it was no use,

“I can’t do that. It’s up to all of you now. And remember, the For will be with you, always.” Then, the Chimera was gone, and so was my precious boy.

**End Flashback**

“Mom, are you okay?” My son, Jacen asked me. “Yeah, I’m fine. Thanks for asking sweetheart.” I said as we approached our current home on Hosnian Prime. Prior to landing, I turned to Jacen, and said

“Jacen, sweetheart. When we land, I want to be alone, so I want you off the ship, completely. Okay, hun.” I said, “Am I in trouble, he asked, with his hands raised in defense, “Oh, no love, you are most certainly not in trouble, hun. I just need the ship to myself. Okay?” “‘Kay.” He said, quietly, which broke my heart, but what I had to do, couldn’t be avoided.

**Time Skip: 30 minutes later - Still Hera’s POV**

“Remember, Jacen, when I’m ready, I’ll call you. And don’t get yourself in trouble, or you will most definitely he grounded.” I said, “I won’t. You can count on me. Bye mom.” Jacen said, then left.” As soon as he left, I went into my room, and locked my door. Once it was locked, I broke down,

“Oh Ezra, why do you have to sacrifice yourself with the Purrgil?” I asked myself through my tears, “It was already hard enough losing Kanan, then we lost you. On top of that, finding out that I was pregnant, and I didn’t stop crying for a week. Six straight days of non stop crying!”

“Mom?” I hear, causing me to stop, I look down, and there’s Jacen, “Oh, Jacen, love. What are you doing here? I told you not to come back once you left.” I said through my tears,

“I felt your pain and anguish through the Force, and the Force told me to come back and help you, so I did. And by the looks of it, you need it.” Jacen said, I was absolutely touched by his words. “Oh love, I do need someone to lean on.” I said, as I wrapped my arms around his frame, and he wrapped his arms around mine, “I was just didn’t want you to see me breaking down.”

“Sometimes, it’s just better to break down with someone next to you, than to break down by yourself.” He said, Even for an 11 year old, he’s wise far beyond his years, his father would be very proud of him,

“You never met your surrogate older brother, his name was Ezra Bridger. When Ahsoka jumped into Hyperspace via the Purrgil, it gave me immense PTSD because that’s exactly how Ezra left us, left me, with Purrgil. Jacen, please, if your ever going to leave with Purrgil, make sure that I’m with you, because your father sacrificed himself, your surrogate older brother sacrificed himself, I don’t think that I can handle you doing the same thing.

Notes:

- After watching the end of SWR, and the part where Hera watches Ahsoka go into Hyperspace via the Purrgil, I’d imagine that there would be some PTSD for Hera, so I decided to write a chapter about it.

Chapter 33: Final Moments

Summary:

Ezra watches (and feels) the catastrophic end of the Ghost

Notes:

- AU (Takes place early to mid S4)
- From Ezra’s POV (several other SWR characters will make slight cameos)
- For this story, the Phantom I is not destroyed (unlike in SWR Canon)

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

During a fierce space battle, I was assigned to the Phantom by Hera (which is Ironic, given what I did to her a couple of years ago). After several heart pounding moments, we had a clear Hyperspace lane to Yavin. Just as the Ghosts’ Hyperdrive was powering up, my stomach dropped. A TIE Fighter headed right for the flight deck of the ship in a suicide attack. I tried to maneuver the Phantom for a shot, but there was nothing that I could do, I was too far away. I was helpless to prevent a collision.

Once both TIE and the Ghost collided, I knew that the crew was doomed. From my comlink, I could hear singing with soft crying. I knew that it was Sabine, and that she was singing a song in a traditional Mando language. I remember her describing this song, she compared it to the “Swan Song.”

Then I heard Zeb, he told me to “Keep up the fight and kill as many Bucket Heads as possible for both him and Chopper.” Through my tears, I told him that “I would.” I never heard from Hera. But with that TIE crashing into the flight deck, I’d imagine that her com was likely damaged (if not, destroyed), but I’d imagine that she was saying the same thing.

Then, I heard Kanan through our bond for what would be the last time. He told me to “Get to Yavin ASAP.” Then, he gave me his final lesson,

“Let the Force guide you, always.”

Then, the Ghost entered Hyperspace followed by superheated molecules across several light years. Then, I felt the immense pain of the bond between Kanan and I snapping. That only meant one thing,

“Kanan is gone. The Ghost is gone. I’m all alone again.” But I have no time for sorrows. I quickly made my calculations for the jump to Yavin, and then entered Hyperspace.

**Time Skip: One Hour Later - Still Ezra’s POV**

Arriving at Yavin. I landed, and met with Senator Mothma. “Where’s Captain Syndulla?” She asked me, “Their gone.” I said, on the verge of tears. “What!?” “What happened?” She asked, I took a deep breath, collecting my thoughts, knowing that this was not going to be easy.

[TOP PART]

After I finished explaining what happened, everybody was in shock. “So, they just evaporated into molecules?” A Rebel leader asked, “Spread out across multiple Light Years.” I finished. “What a horrific end.” Senator Mothma said, sadly, I nodded, that’s when I lost control of my emotions.

Notes:

- The first part of the story is pretty much a word for word copy of the FanFiction “Journey Into Darkness” by Slayzer. If you happen to read this, I sincrely apologize for how close it is in relativity, but it was too enticing to not pass on. If you do read it, I hope you enjoyed my chapter.

Chapter 34: Reunited

Summary:

The Ghost Crew is reunited in the realm of the Force

Notes:

- AU (Set in 75ABY)
- From Ezra’s POV
- For this story, Hera never becomes pregnant
- Ezra never disappeared

Chapter Text

It all started with the destruction of the Fuel Depot on Lothal. We were successful in rescuing Hera, but that success came with a heavy price tag, because Kanan had to sacrifice his life. But the defeat of Grand Admiral Thrawn, and subsequent liberation of Lothal ensured that his sacrifice would never go in vain.

His death was an adversity for us, but we persevered in a way that would have made him proud. We were already a tight knit family, Kanan’s sacrifice somehow made us closer. Little did we know that five of us would soon become three.

Just under a year after Lothal was liberated, the Rebellion learned of a terrible weapon that the Empire had been secretly building. It was known as the “Death Star” code named “Stardust”. After the Alliance learned all of this, they were ready to close up shop, and surrender, but two noble Rebels named Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor refused to accept defeat, and stole an Imperial shuttle to raid the Imperial held planet of Scarif where the Plans to the Super Weapon were being held.

The Operation, code named “Rogue One” was a success, and the plans were successfully stolen from the Imperials. Unfortunately, Jyn Erso, Cassian Andor, and their entire team were lost, and that included Zeb and Sabine who secretly went along.

It was now down to just down to Hera, Chopper, and myself. But little did I know that there was still more to come. In just a matter of days, three was soon going to become one.

Hera told me that she and Chopper were heading to Alderaan for a “Secret Meeting” with Senator Organa. She told me to not destroy her ship, then she hugged me, and I watched as both her and Chopper climb into the Phantom II and Depart Yavin. The next morning, while I was watching a movie on the Holoprojector,

I felt a Disturbance in the Force, as if “Millions of voices crying out in terror before being suddenly silenced.” Then, I could no longer feel Hera’s Force Signature, she was gone.

But, I got up off the mat, just like my family would’ve wanted me to.

Over the next 75 years, I oversaw the destruction of both the Empire and the First Order, and the rise (and subsequent fall) of the New Republic, and rise of the Resistance. And I (along with fellow Jedi, Rey) oversaw the creation of a new Jedi Order as I took on several Padawan’s.

But, at 94 years of age, I knew that my time in this Galaxy was reaching its natural conclusion. With my family, and students by my side, I closed my eyes for the final time.

When I opened them up again, I was back on Lothal, as a teenager, looking at Capital City. “Hello there, Ezra. We’re so proud of you.” I looked over, and a smile came up to my face, and tears came to my eyes as only two words came to mind, “Mom! Dad!” I ran over and hugged them and they hugged me back.

After we were talking for a bit, I asked, “Where is the Ghost Crew at?” My dad pointed, and said, “There, son.” Then my mom said, “Go, you belong with them.”

Walking over to them, Hera looked up, and smiled, tears flooding her eyes. This caused the others to look back, “EZRA!!!” Kanan, Zeb, and Sabine shouted in unison as they (plus Chopper) came over to hug me, me quickly shouting for air.

Then, Hera came over, and I walked up to her, and she put her hand on my cheek, and I leaned into her touch, “Oh son.” She said, and she grabbed me, and took me into her arms, me reciprocating her hug, “I’m so sorry that we all left you so soon.” She said, “No need to apologize, because all the hard work is done, we are officially reunited, all eight of us, as one.”

Chapter Text

Today was Sabine’s birthday, and all that she requested was a girls’ day out with her two best friends, Numa and Ketsu. I was absolutely not allowed to come, at all (which is fair, not like I would want to go anyway, with what they were ‘probably’ doing). The only thing that I wondered was what I was going to be doing tonight with my dad?”

Later on. My dad, Zeb, Rex, Kallus, Gregor and Wolfe were heading to a bar/restaurant for dinner. “This was it.” I thought to myself, “This was my chance to show that I can hang with the big dogs. The day that I become a man.” As I was heading over to get into the car with them, I was stopped by uncle Zeb,

“Where do you think that you’re going?” “Am I going along?” I asked nervously, “I don’t believe so, Kanan only made reservations for six, but I’ll ask him.” He said, then left. Minutes later, my dad told me that, “I couldn’t come.” And that “He was sorry.” So, I watched in utter disbelief as the guys jumped into their cars, and left for the restaurant that they were heading to, I was officially by myself.

“This was SO NOT FAIR!” I Thought bitterly to myself, “Everybody else was doing something fun, and I was stuck at home. Nobody wanted me, I was abandoned, by everybody. After a while, I started crying.

After I calmed myself down, I realized the crappiness of my situation. While everybody else has/had good quality food for either lunch/dinner, I was relegated to just cereal. While the girls got to do something fun for Sabine’s Birthday, and the guys went to some bar/restaurant, I was stuck with watching movies on a DVD player. I’m a kid, that was abandoned by everybody else.

[Hera’s POV]
After dropping both Numa and Ketsu off at their respective houses, both Sabine and I went home. Stopping at the mailbox to collect the mail, I was surprised to see that the indoor lights were on, “They probably just forgot, no biggie.” I thought to myself. As I started reading the mail, “Mom, we have a problem!” Sabine said, “What’s that?” I asked, looking at her “Ezra’s Inside!”

Rushing inside (and subsequently dropping the mail), I ran into the family room to see Ezra sleeping on the sofa with a movie playing on the DVD player.

Gently scratching his hair, he woke up, and said, “Mom?” While stretching. That action alone caused me to utterly melt. I then said, “Well hello there, sleepyhead, why aren’t you with your father?” “He said that I couldn’t come.” He said, as tears came to his eyes. “You’re sh*****g me!” Is all I said. I rarely if ever cussed (and never around the kids). So for me to cuss there, just showed how utterly angry I was,

“That’s what he said.” Ezra said, as more tears sprang to his eyes, “He said that he had already made reservations, and that I couldn’t come, and that he was sorry.” I then shook my head in utter disbelief, “When he gets home, I’m going to have his you know what hanging from the porch light.”

Not too long after, the guys got home, and I was out there, waiting for him. When he saw me, he instantly knew that he was in trouble, “Hera, I-“. “SAVE IT!!” I barked back, “YOU LEFT EZRA AT HOME BY HIMSELF!! I TOLD YOU TO MAKE RESERVATIONS FOR SEVEN AND TAKE HIM WITH YOU!!” He looked down in shame, but I wasn’t done yet, “KANAN JARRUS!! WHAT IF THE HOUSE CAUGHT ON FIRE! OR IT GOT BROKEN INTO!! HE WOULD HAVE BEEN IN A WORLD OF TROUBLE!! AND WE WOULD NEVER HAVE KNOWN!!!!

“Now, get used to the sofa, because you are going to be spending the rest of the month there, sleeping by yourself. And you should be thanking your lucky stars that we had sex last night, because no sex for the rest of the year, understood?” Yes, he said, and went inside.

I found Ezra not too long after I chewed my hubby out a new one, and I said to him, “Do you know what, Ezra, Tomorrow, we’ll spend the day together, just you and me, and we’ll do whatever YOU want. He smiled, and hugged me.
