Chapter Text
It was the day before her first day at high school and Ushina was nervous as hell. Would it be like the movies? Would there be cliques? Or would it be nothing like that and she was just over reacting.
as she looked out the window at the small town of Musutafu, head resting in her palm out of boredom, she looked up at the hill near the town, there was a forest just on top. and she knew exactly how she was gonna spend her last day of summer.
she slid out of the chair and walked her way to the front door. Completely oblivious to the storm that was rolling in.
"Hey mom, im gonna go out for a bit!" she called out as she slipped her sneakers on.
"are you sure sweetheart? its getting kind of chilly out there don't want you catching a cold on your first day!" her mother answered from her room.
"ill be fine, a little cold never killed anybody. Im taking my phone with me if you need me back sooner than 7!" she called back as she opened the door and stepped out into the cool summer air. She looked back at her house. then towards the hill. And took off in a sprint to the forest excited for her adventure.

She slid to a stop by the convenience store and walked in. She needed a bottle of water before officially heading off on her adventure.
"Hello Mr. Eiji how much would a bottle of water cost?" she asked as she pulled out her wallet and rested her hands on the counter.
"About 100 yes, and if you don't mind me asking where are you headed today?" the old man questioned as he hobbled up to the counter bottle in hand.
"Im planning on exploring the forest on the hill today, just to get rid of some first day of school nerves." Ushina chuckled pulling out some coins to count.
"its dangerous for a young lady like yourself to go wandering around a forest by yourself there could be anything out there" he stated in that old man 'I know better than you' tone as he took the money.
"its 2015 nothing bad is gonna happen, besides even if I do get my leg gnawed off by a wolf I can just call 911 ill be fiiiine." she brushed off his concern and walked out of the store and down the street pulling her hair up into a high ponytail and stopped before the trail into the woods.
took a deep breath, put on a brave face, and started the climb to the forest
just as she was starting her climb the storm was just starting to cover the sun. the dark grey clouds swirled angrily as lightning flashed inside the dark vortex. the clouds were out for blood, as people started to go inside for the day to avoid being soaked, Ushina was none the wiser, as she was currently trying to figure out how to scale a small dip in the trail.
"ok so if I climb onto this branch and get a running start I can easily leap over onto that other branch and from there get to the other side and make the jump" murmuring to herself as she readied herself on the first branch her nerve starting to swirl in her stomach.
"its ok you can do this, its just a hop skip and a jump away" she psyched herself up for this epic totally not unnecessary jump.
She backed up just as a humming sound started to make its way into her ears and took a;

the hairs on the back of her arm started to stand on edge, she made it to the second branch
Skip the humming turned into a loud buzz in her ears

lighting struck her as she was taking the final leap the only thing that ever showed that she was once there was the scorch mark on the tree branch...
