Chapter Text
Everyone knew who Katsuki Bakugo was.
By the end of the first year at University, he’d done the rounds. By the end of the second, he’d not only done the rounds again, but also taken into account the new first years and the now thirds.
So, it would come as very little surprise that by the time their third year finally rolled around, everyone and their damn mothers knew who Katsuki Bakugo was.
The spoilt, haughty rich kid with a tongue so sharp and mouth so foul he’d set anyone who looked at him the wrong way on fire. To accompany his garbage attitude, he was also sinfully good looking. A jawline that could cut glass, a heated gaze to reduce anyone to a pile of goo. To rub salt in the wounds, his body was that of an Adonis. Not that Kirishima had been looking or anything.
And because God really did have favourites, he was exceptionally smart. The little cunt would regularly show up lecturers; he would sit there with that cocky grin, arms so thick they could easily strangle a man crossed tightly across his chest as he sat back, in all his shitty little, smug, jammy wanker attitude.
Eijiro Kirishima did not like Katsuki Bakugo.
Not really anyway.
Just because you don’t like someone doesn’t mean you can’t also simultaneously have a big, fat, ugly crush on them, okay?
Who wouldn’t have a crush on him? In all his bad boy, don’t-ever-take-home-to-meet-your-mother glory.
One-time Kirishima walked in on him banging a girl in the bathroom. That was a day to remember, for sure.
Like, who does that? They’d made eye contact and everything. And Katsuki just didn’t stop. He even had the audacity to look Eijiro up and down, like he was sizing up a fine cut of meat. He made a kissy face at him, still pummelling this poor girl from behind over the bathroom sinks. Eijiro had reversed out of that bathroom so damn fast.
Kirishima couldn’t help but strangely admire the fucking balls on the bastard.
It would also come as no surprise to learn Katsuki Bakugo was an Alpha. And not only that, a Prime Alpha.
Also known as, The Worst of The Worst.
Well, that’s not the scientific definition or anything, but it basically is.
How the population went, was that 30% were Alphas. A further 2% of those already massive wankers were Prime Alphas. An Alpha Alpha. The most Alpha-ery Alpha’s you can imagine. The most fertile (gross), most aggressive (even grosser), most dickhead-esque Alpha’s you can get.
A further 60% of the population were Beta’s. Pretty chill people, although with a large scope. Some were more aggressive than others, but that was just personality types really. And then finally, last but not least, a feeble 10% of the population were Omegas.
Enter Eijiro Kirishima.
Being an Omega didn’t really affect his life in any way, particularly. At the ripe old age of 21, he had still to have his first heat, and besides having to use pheromone masks on the odd occasion, he wasn’t much different to any Beta.
He didn’t wear a collar like any mated Omega, and he didn’t take suppressants. He didn’t need to. He wasn’t mated, nor was his body particularly reactant to any Alpha’s around him.
Except Katsuki Bakugo.
But we don’t talk about that.
We also don’t talk about the fact that after walking in on Katsuki breaking that girls back in the bathroom, Eijiro had sped walked all the way home to jack it until his dick—swear to God—nearly fell off.
But we don’t talk about that.
He shared a few classes with Katsuki. They were on intertwining courses. They shared the entirety of the first year, but thankfully in third, it was only two or three classes a week. That was more than enough.
Eijiro had even been foolish enough in first year to try and befriend the man. That had backfired. It had ended with him being pinned up against a nearby vending machine by the throat.
“Why do you fucking smell like that?”
That’s what Katsuki had said to him. That’s the only thing Katsuki had ever said to him.
He also didn’t really know what he meant. After clocking the blond square in his pretty jaw and running off, Kirishima had sniffed his t-shirt, his armpit; he’d even taken off his shoe and given that a good whiff to.
But apparently, he didn’t smell bad.
He couldn’t have, because Katsuki always sat near him in classes.
A nearly empty lecture hall and Katsuki Bakugo – the man who hated nearly anyone who didn’t have a hole he could stick his dick in – would sit directly behind him. It could have been a coincidence. But one-time Katsuki pulled their classmate Izuku Midoriya clean from his chair over it, claiming he needed to sit there for the air conditioning.
“Hah? Fucking move you damn nerd, my body runs hotter than yours, fucking invalid.”
It would have made sense. If it wasn’t for the fact the air conditioning unit was on the other side of the room.
And apparently, today was absolutely no exception.
Eijiro had his arm around Denki when they walked into the room, pulling him into a playful headlock. He tripped up when the electric blond managed to catch his leg around Kirishima’s ankle, sending him stumbling. He caught himself, laughing loudly, and chased Kaminari all the way to his seat. Playful banter, as bros do, you know?
He scooted into his chair, knocking into Denki who was doing the same on the other side and they accidentally bonked heads.
“What’s wrong with you two?” Mina’s voice floated past as she slung her backpack onto the desk in the row before them, “How do you have any braincells left?”
Before either Eijiro or Denki could answer, Hanta beat them to it, coming up to Eijiro’s other side, “They just share one.” He was grinning as usual, offering a cheeky wink as he flopped into his own seat. Sero was the only Alpha in their mini group, he was a good guy, pretty chill. Although wouldn’t back down if someone happened to get too close to Mina. They weren’t mated or anything, it was just blatant favouritism. That and the fact Denki and Eijiro could look after themselves. Well, Eijiro certainly could, standing over 6-feet tall and defying all silly Omegan stereotypes with thighs so thick he could crush a man’s skull if need be.
Denki however… Maybe not. That man has tied his own shoelaces together on more than one occasion. But he was just a regular Beta, so he was left alone.
It was actually Sero who noticed Bakugo always sitting so close to them in the first place, as Kirishima hadn’t noticed himself. Or at least, he’d tried not to. It was hard not to notice Katsuki Bakugo in a room, but Eijiro hadn’t made the connection that he was always choosing to sit near them. It was only then Eijiro actually started keeping an eye out for the odd behaviour that it sunk in, and even in classes without his friends, Katsuki would sit near him.
A loud scraping of metal on wood alerted the group to the Prime Alpha’s arrival, a strong smell of lightly burnt caramel filling the air moments later. Kirishima inhaled deeply, he didn’t mean to. It just smelt so good.
Sero was already turned in his seat, arm looped over the back of his chair casually, “Hey, man,” He greeted Katsuki brightly, sternly, grin fixed in place and he offered a friendly thumbs up. Eijiro turned to, offering his own smile in greeting, but it was cut short when his eyes locked with the blue eyes of a short, pretty, blond girl under Katsuki’s arm. She was giggling, hopping onto the tips of her toes to whisper something into the Alpha’s ear.
Bakugo barely inclined his head towards her, his gaze locked onto Kirishima’s as he continued to slowly slide his chair out. The exchange was only broken when the girl's hand flew to his crotch suddenly, squeezing at the bulge that was always there.
Not that Kirishima had noticed or anything. We don’t talk about that, remember?
But that caught Katsuki’s attention. His gaze cut to the girls, and his hand flew to her wrist, pushing her grip away. His arm dropped from her shoulder as he flopped heavily into his seat, clicking his tongue and folding his arms across his chest.
Kirishima could feel the blond’s leg bouncing frustratedly behind him as he turned back towards the front, just in time for their professor to enter the room.
Kirishima worked by the beach, two to three evenings a week.
It was pretty decent, actually, as he didn’t have to do very much, especially in the colder months. Christmas was approaching, after all, and who goes to the beach in November?
He worked in a little beach-hut style building. It was small, really small, only big enough for himself really. They sold snacks mostly, slushies too, hotdogs, candyfloss, sometimes doughnuts if he could be bothered to switch the machine on. Which wasn’t usually very often.
Either way, it was quiet, and he was all wrapped up in his puffer jacket and scarf, scrolling absently through his phone, dipping in and out of a text chat with his friends. Kaminari was in the middle of a meltdown over an assignment, and Ashido was begging them all to come out and get drunk with her that weekend.
He smelt burnt caramel before the owner of the smell was in his field of view. And for a moment it confused him. He frowned at his phone, wondering what one of the many machines around him could be smelling like burning sugar.
And then he realised.
With a start, he dropped his phone, the device slipping from his gloved fingers and heavily falling to the floor.
“Shit,” He huffed, slipping off his stool and crouching low to search for his phone. It had slipped under the till, and by the time he’d found it and stood with a shiver, his ruby eyes landed on an almost identical pair.
His hut was at least several feet from the ground, so it was a strange position to be looking down at Katsuki like he was. The blond wasn’t wrapped up for the winter cold, only donning a regular knit jumper and jeans. For some reason, realising how warm Katsuki must be made Eijiro even colder, and he shucked his arms across his chest for warmth. The brunette hanging from Bakugo this time seemed to be taking full advantage of having a hot-blooded Alpha, and she was wrapped around him like a second skin.
Vaguely, Kirishima realised how he’d probably never be cold again if he had an Alpha to keep him warm. But he quickly shook the thoughts aside and grinned as brightly as he could down at Katsuki and his latest piece of arm-candy.
“Hey!” He laughed, tucking his hands further under his arms and bobbing slightly on the spot for warmth, “Fancy seeing you here, how’s it going?”
“I didn’t know you worked here.” For some reason, the observation sounded almost like a criticism.
“Yep!” Kirishima rubbed his gloved hands together now, “Brrr, it’s so chilly, aren’t you cold?” He glanced down at the girl whose arms were wrapped tightly around the blond’s waist.
“No.” Katsuki said sharply, and the girl giggled.
“’Suki’s so warm and toasty, I’ll never be cold again!” She snuggled into his shoulder, still giggling. Kirishima did not miss how Bakugo grimaced at that, and his brow raised slightly.
“Oh.” He blinked. Awkwardly, he rubbed the back of his neck, stretching his back a little, “Well, that’s nice. Anyway, what can I get for you?”
Katsuki didn’t order anything, but the girl got a hot chocolate. And much to Kirishima’s annoyance, they moved to sit at one of the small, metal tables just in front of the hut.
Why?!
Kirishima flopped back down onto his stool, sending a quick text to his friends to gossip about who had shown up at his work. Although his ungloved thumb was so cold against his phone, the screen struggled to register the contact.
It made him pout in frustration, and without even meaning to his eyes travelled. Maybe it was the sweet giggling that attracted his gaze, or maybe it was because a pit in the bottom of his stomached swirled slightly in anguish.
Katsuki really did look warm…
The girl was scooted up close to him on the bench, legs over the blond’s thighs, arms locked around his shoulders while her face nuzzled into his neck, expression blissed out. It made Eijiro gulp.
The things he would do…
Oh, fuck, no. He didn’t mean that. He just needed an Alpha, or even a Beta. None of this was Katsuki specific.
Any Alpha would be like a breathing radiator, not just Katsuki. Any Alpha he was dating would let him bask in their scent like that. It would soothe him, make him feel so good. Hopefully, they’d smell as good as Katsuki. The brunette seemed to be having a great time snuggling into Katsuki’s scent gland, almost climbing onto his lap in an attempt to get impossibly close.
Kirishima watched as she took a big, shaky breath, the air coming out in a puff of steam around Katsuki’s skin.
That neck… Oh, how badly did he want to sink his teeth in there.
“Shit!” He hissed, quickly looking away. Katsuki was staring right back at him. The blond’s head was turned to accommodate the girl nuzzling close, and those hot red eyes were fixed onto Eijiro.
Kirishima could feel his face becoming as red as his hair, and shakily he took a glance back. Katsuki was still looking right back at him. They made eye contact once again, and Kirishima blinked at the blond’s scowl. The girl was now officially on his lap, grabbing almost forcefully at his knitted jumper as she became flustered, a small whimper escaping her lips.
She tugged at Katsuki’s collar, trying to get his attention, but his gaze was locking Eijiro into place.
Why was he frowning like that?
If Kirishima didn’t know better, he would say Bakugo almost looked confused. His blond head jerked suddenly when the girl gave a harder tug, and without even missing a beat, Katsuki tore away from Eijiro, heading straight into the crook of the girl’s neck, shoving his face over her shoulder forcefully and curling himself around her.
When she cried out in pleasure, Kirishima finally looked away.
