The bond between us

Summary:

In this world, regardless of you’re male or female, an Alpha and an Omega could be mated and produced offspring. And if you’re lucky, you could even find your ‘soul mate’, the person that was destined to be together with you, compatible with you in every aspect. Of course, this only happened between Alpha and Omega. So, there’s an unspoken normal belief in society that Betas should just pair up with Betas, and not involve with Alphas and Omegas.

Therefore, Gojo Satoru and Fushiguro Megumi were an abnormal couple by that society standard. However, in this Jujutsu World, the concept of normality hardly mattered.

‘I know that it won’t last…’ Their relationship was just a temporary thing. Megumi knew it fully well.

Still, he didn’t expect that time to come this fast. A beautiful and refined Omega. He met her.

Gojo Satoru’s soul mate.

This is my second Gofushi fic!
This time, the setting is Omegaverse, and the dynamic is Alpha x Beta.
The characters may be OOC, and there's heavily implied sexual content.

Chapter 1

Summary:

What Gojo had toward him, was it just transient interest that would die out soon, or was it the same intense burning feeling that overflowed in Megumi’s chest?

Chapter Text

Nowadays, aside from the normal genders, male and female, new gender categories were added as the humanity had constantly evolved. They’re called Alpha, Beta and Omega. According to statistics, Alphas occupied only 20% of the population, while the number of Omegas was even lower, just 10%, and the rest were Betas.

Alpha was considered the superior gender. They were physical strong and superior to Betas and Omegas in various aspects. Beta was your everyday man, not so different from the traditional gender categories, while Omega was a very rare gender. They were viewed by the society as weak and fragile and tended to have low social status. But, that was only true in the past, these days, Omegas had become more independent and gradually gained their places in high society.

Since, Gojo Satoru’s an Alpha, an elite one at that. And Fushiguro Megumi’s a Beta, an excellent one, but still a Beta.

However, in this Jujutsu World, the concept of normality hardly mattered.

“You really like to bite my neck, huh?” Megumi touched his neck, caressed the fresh bite mark that had just been engraved into his skin few moments ago. He looked at the sleeping face of his lover, admiring how attractive he was, even when asleep.

They had just had intense sex a while ago, and now, this person’s sleeping so soundly. It made Megumi wonder if Gojo’s really tired after today’s mission. Should they tone down the sex a little, that what he thought. Sighing softly, well, he’s not the one making decision anyway.

Megumi lightly stroke the strong arm seizing his waist, feeling the firm muscles that he thought he couldn’t gain no matter how hard he tried. He rested his head on the man’s chest, his mind, again, went back to his concern ever since they’re dating.

Fushiguro Megumi confessed to Gojo Satoru when he was in third year of middle school. It’s really just one spur-of-the-moment decision, since his feeling was overflowing. Of course, he didn’t expect Gojo to accept his confession, nor did he consider that Alpha and Beta were usually not a suitable match, he just wanted to get that heavy feeling out of his heart. So, it totally caught Megumi by surprise when Gojo agreed. “Okay! Let date then.” Just like that, simple and casual.

They had their first sex about six months after that, on that White Christmas. Megumi knew that something had happened, and it somehow related to the best friend that this person sometimes talked about. But he didn’t ask, as if it was a boundary he must not overstep. Of course, that didn’t mean he didn’t want to know, he just thought that it’s okay to wait for when Gojo’s ready to tell, and, at that time, he would listen.

After that Christmas, like someone that already had the first taste of the forbidden fruit, their sex became more frequent. When they had sex, whether it’s rough or gentle, Gojo always bit Megumi, on the neck, the nape, he bit him right on where his Scent Gland was. The first time, the second time, Megumi didn’t notice it. But as this biting habit, no, more like a ritual, repeated, Megumi couldn’t help but concerning about it.

Megumi knew fully well that it’s in Alpha’s nature to desire to mate with their partner. And if he were an Omega, he would long be Gojo’s pair. But he also knew that Gojo was not someone that would be driven by instinct. He said he could block the pheromone of other people, as well as his own, so no Omega could affect him, and he wouldn’t cause some ruckus because of his pheromone causing Omega go into heat, either. And, that claim’s true, not just some exaggerated bluff. Megumi had never seen the strongest losing his control even if there’s plenty Omega around.

If so, if his lover was so self-controlled like that, what was the meaning of this? Megumi, again, touched his neck, feeling the dull aching around the area where he’s bitten. He’s not an Omega, so biting him meant nothing. It’s a fruitless act. But Gojo kept doing it, again and again.

‘It’s just like he wants me to be an Omega…’ That was the thought that came to Megumi’s mind. It seemed that even the strongest man in the world still couldn’t resist the urge as an Alpha to seek for his Omega.

And that thought was further concrete after that one line of Gojo. It’s just some mumble after they had sex, but it stuck in his mind till now.

“It would be best if Megumi is pregnant with my child…” Megumi remembered that low tone of Gojo. He said it very seriously, not in some playful ways like usual. Furthermore, his big calluses hand even gently stroked Megumi’s belly, as if there’s a new small life in it already.

Children. Gojo’s asking for the nearly impossible from Megumi. Unlike Omega who had high fertile rate, the chance of Beta getting pregnant is by far lower, especially Male Beta, the rate’s almost zero.

‘I know that it won’t last…’ Their relationship was just a temporary thing. Megumi knew it fully well. It’s normal for Alpha and Omega to be together. And he could never give that person the child he wanted so much anyway… unless a miracle happened. But, in this Jujutsu World, you might easily die before you met that miracle of your life.

Still…

‘If you could be born as Omega instead of Beta, would you try it?’ Megumi’s answer for this question is easily a ‘No’. He didn’t even need to think about it. Even though Omega nowadays had changed so much compared to the past, there’s still time they’re vulnerable to outside force. And even if they didn’t want that, even if it’s just an accident, as soon as Omega went into heat in the battle field, they immediately became the weakest spot of the team. No, it might be the most favorable outcome if it’s just that. An Omega in heat could easily caused the whole team to crumble, drove the Alpha and maybe even Beta mad, and worst, had them all killed by curses in that deranged state.

So, instead of being protect, Fushiguro Megumi would rather fight in the battle field. He’s happy that he could still chase after the board back of that person, rather than being completely left behind.

Megumi’s satisfied with the relationship they had right now. He’s content with being with his loved one, even if the time was limited. He knew well that Gojo had romantic feeling toward him, it was not just some misunderstandings on his part. But, he’s also aware that there’re many type of romantic feelings. What Gojo had toward him, was it just transient interest that would die out soon, or was it the same intense burning feeling that overflowed in Megumi’s chest?

… It didn’t really matter. Megumi knew that he loved Gojo, this was more than enough. He would stay by this person’s side as long as he’s allowed to. The precious time they had together, he would cherish it. So that…

So that… When the time came… When this person finally found his true destined mate… he could let go. Let go of the reliable hand he’d been holding onto for 9 years. At that time, he hoped he could sincerely wish for that person’s happiness, from the bottom of his heart.

‘Ah’ Megumi snapped out of his thought as he felt the dulling pain coming from his hand. Apparently, he had clenched his fist too hard that his nails gashed his skin, dug into his flesh. ‘It seems to be no good now…’ Megumi slowly closed his eyes, hiding the sadness wavering in those emerald jewels. That when…

“What are you thinking about?” A husky voice asked him. Megumi startled, looked up, meeting those gentle blue eyes, and then immediately turned away. Somehow, he felt like he couldn’t face that gaze, or else all his hidden feeling would be revealed.

“Sorry. Did I wake you up?” He tried to change the subject.

“Yeah.” Megumi could feel Gojo lightly kiss his hair. “I’m woken up by all those negative feelings filling the room. So, what are you thinking about?” He voice’s light, but strangely demanding.

“Nothing.” Megumi’s stubborn. Even though this child knew fully well that Gojo had already sensed his wavering emotions, he still stubbornly denied it. Well, a stubborn Megumi’s still very cute, though. But…

“Don’t lie to me.” Gojo grabbed the boy’s delicate chin, lifting up his face, forcing him to look right into his eyes. “I can clearly smell this bitter scent coming from you, you know?” He nudged the boy’s cheeks, still demanding an answer to his question.

Megumi sighed. Unlike Alpha and Omega who could somewhat sense other people’s emotion through their scent, Beta’s nose was pretty dull. They couldn’t smell others’ scents, except for the one that especially intense, like the pheromone Omega emitting during heat.

“… It’s nothing much. I just think about your soul mate…” The word ‘soul mate’ just barely left his mouth. His voice shrank as he felt the furious gaze of Gojo. Megumi wanted to advert his eyes, but the hand on his chin just holding firmly, forced him to face Gojo. He’s scared, not as Fushiguro Megumi, but as a Beta cowering before an Alpha’s anger.

“This again…” Gojo growled. How many time did this stupid child want to bring up this boring subject? “Didn’t I tell you already? That nothing will change even if that so-called ‘soul mate’ turns up. Or did I not make it clear enough for you to understand?” His teeth sank into the boy’s skin, masticated the place that were already covered in bite marks.

‘Your words and your actions don’t match though.’ Megumi wanted to retort, but he held back, as he knew this would just further fuel Gojo’s anger. However, the pain on his neck right now, combined with all those thoughts earlier still annoyed Megumi so much. “That why…” He pushed Gojo back, no, more like tried to as the older man was so much stronger than him. “I said it nothing much…”

“Should I ‘kill’ them then?” Megumi’s whole body frozen as he heard that cold voice of Gojo.

“Ha?” That all he managed to say.

“Should I ‘kill’ them then?” Gojo repeated, flatly, as if he’s just discussing what they should eat tonight. “My soul mate, that is.” He then added. “If that can put Megumi at ease.” He tenderly kissed the boy’s cheek.

Megumi frowned deeply. How could this person act all affectionately after suggesting something like that? Of course, the ‘kill’ he referred to right now didn’t mean literally killing. Even if Gojo Satoru was a ‘do as he’s pleased’ person, he wouldn’t do something that unreasonable. It’s something else, still, some people considered it equal or even worse than death itself. “Please don’t ever talk about it, even as a joke.” He knew it not a joke. Gojo could really do it, since by that person’s standard, it’s pretty normal act. “I don’t like it.”

“Then, Megumi should also stop thinking about such an unnecessary subject like my soul mate or something like that.” Their foreheads were pressed together, their noses slightly touched, their breath mingled. Then, Megumi was pulled into a warm and strong embrace. His could feel the weight resting on his shoulder, the tickle around his neck because of someone’s hair. “I said it, didn’t I?” The arm around him tightened. “I only need Megumi.”

Megumi hesitated a little, but then, he returned Gojo’s embrace. However, the swirl of emotions inside his heart didn’t seem to settle down.

What Gojo had toward him, was it just transient interest that would die out soon, or was it the same intense burning feeling that overflowed in Megumi’s chest?

That question came up again.

“I only need Megumi.”

Sometimes, the way Gojo acted, all playfully and flirtatiously, made Megumi thought it was the former, that this relationship was just a fleeting thing. But, sometimes, it also felt that the older man was really serious about their relationship, like a lifetime bond. Like just now.

“I only need Megumi.”

Once sentence heavy with emotions. ‘I only need you, too.’ He wanted to reply that too, but he felt like he didn’t understand Gojo. No, he could understand his lover to some extends, but he couldn’t seem to grasp the true emotions of that person. What did that person really want with this relationship? He didn’t know.

So…

“So you put the certainty of your relationship on hold? Until Gojo meets his soulmate?”

“Yes.” Megumi looked at the woman in front of him. She just asked that question so nonchalantly while writing medical report. After all, Ieiri was the first person to know about their relationship. How could he hide all that love bites when taking medical treatment? So Megumi didn’t really hesitate when talking to Ieiri about their relationship.

“That guy will be very furious if he knows that thought of you.” Her pen paused a little, but then steadily continued to travel through her notes. “Even if he didn’t show that to you, Gojo was really happy when you confessed, you know? It was really irritating to hear that guy constantly bragging.” Contrary to the complaining in her tone, Megumi noticed that her lips curve a little.

“Is that so?” That all he could say. It’s not like he doubted Ieiri or something like that, it’s just hard to believe when all he received was a very casual ‘Let date then.’

“You should just tell him all your true feeling.” He heard she advised.

But if he understood it wrong “It will just be trouble for Gojo-sensei.” He had already relied on Gojo too much for 9 years, from the deal with Zen’in clan to Tsumiki’s incident. So, if he could help it, he wouldn’t want his feeling to burden that person. When the time came, he wanted Gojo’s decision to completely based on his own feelings, not affected by others. After all, even though that person might appear to be selfish, he’s surprisingly considerate of others.

“Maa… I won’t peer too much into your relationship.” Though she’s pretty sure that that irritate friend of her would be more than happy to take this little child’s burden. Ieiri sighed a little. Her pen stopped, and she turned to look at Megumi. “Here. Your check-up is done. Everything is normal.”

“Thank you.” She watched as the boy bowed, still polite as ever. It’s a bit hard to think that this child had that childish adult around for 9 years.

Ieiri observed Megumi until his figure completely disappeared behind the door. ‘Soul mate, huh.’ It’s quite normal for this kid to worry about it. But she doubted that Gojo would let go though. If she understood it correctly, all of Gojo's strange behaviors that had bothered Fushiguro till now might just be how he expressed his love, but it might be a bit hard for this low self-esteem child to understand. And that idiot who get extremely jealous over just a few touches during medical treatment was quite excessive himself, if she must say. Should she feel lucky that it only happened for those first few times, since Fushiguro didn’t find her attractive even if she was an Omega?

Mah… She wouldn’t play a nice cupid this time, though. Having some spicy things was also a way to strengthen relationship, right? And, wasn’t it interesting to watch a man who could have everything he wanted struggling with his love life? Ieiri hummed to herself as she thought about this.

Fushiguro Megumi knew it would come. Hell, he even prepared for it beforehand. Still, he didn’t expect that it would come this fast. No, maybe he already had a hunch, since he had been constantly thinking about this matter lately.

A beautiful and refined Omega. He met her.

Gojo Satoru’s soul mate.
