You were set to start your new job tomorrow. You did not feel ready. You were in your new appartement for less than a week and still had to unpack so much before calling it home.
You knew what was keeping you from being efficient, everytime you opened a box, you felt drowned in the unpleasant memories of your previous life.
Yes, let's call it that.
This was your fresh start. This was your new life, the new you!
Although you always dreamt you'd be different, less... scared, more brave and confident.
You were scarred from your past life, more that you could admit. Your ex-boyfriend did you more damage in 3 years than a lifetime of quirk shaming.
He was abusive. It took you so long to realise it. You had already lost most of your family, but he made you lose the few you could call your friends too.
He completely isolated you from the world.
His quirk was to perceive and manipulate emotions. That was convenient for him, he could perceive your fears, your doubts and play with your emotions. He could make you do anything.
He made you a villain, he made you use it, your quirk.
You hated yourself even more for that, you still had flashbacks of the one he made you hurt.
You also had flashbacks of what he did to you when you dared step outside of what he meant you to be...
You remembered how he slapped your face when you dared to answer back to him. He did not do it often though, he liked your pretty face.
So, he would punch your stomach, he would then laugh and say it was natural birth control.
Next, you remembered the first time he had forced himself on you. You could now feel his hands squeezing your neck and you could almost hear again how you had struggled to breathe as you felt every violent thrust inside you.
You felt dirty, sick in your stomach.
To top the picture, you saw the face of all those he made you hurt. Their faces distorded out of pain you were inflected them.
Your head was spinning again, bad.
You decided not to open more boxes today.
You needed groceries and some air will do you good. The sun shone bright when you step outside.
You machinally checked the gloves that concealed your hands as you always did when you went out. Your quirk was something you had to live with, nothing could be done about it.
As you walked, you kept reminding yourself that you were out of your last life. You needn't feel guilty.
You got out. He got caught.
You were safe.
Life wasn't so bad. You managed to land a job at All Might tower ! You've always been smart, had a good education and your resume was good even if the last few years have been shady to say the least...
This was the chapter of your life were you got to be and to work on the hero's side.
No one needed to know your past nor about your quirk.
You started to roam the streets, still trying to find your way in this new city.
You felt good, you treated yourself to some ice cream and went to the store to get the groceries you needed.
On the way back, you decided to take a new road. You took a right into a smaller street that should, if you were not mistaken, lead you to the main street where you lived.
Suddenly you froze, a man was exiting in a rush of a small shop in the middle of the small street you were on. You realised it was deserted... oh shit.
The man was dressed in black, he had red wings and sharp teeth you could see from where you were standing.
There were indistinct screams from the shop, someone was hurt.
In his hands, the man in black had a full bag which was stained in what looked to be blood.
You could only imagine there were stollen wallets and jewellery inside.
He looked right at you with his mad eyes.
You wondered what you would do if he decided to come at you, probably not a thing.
You knew this gaze of his. You knew thoughts behind it all too well. You could not move.
Within seconds, to your relief, he took off in the air, laughing.
As he was reaching the top of the surrounding buldings, your heard a laugh, followed by a loud thud and a violent crash on the ground.
" NEVER FEAR"
... why?
"'CAUSE I AM HERE!"
All Might was here, in front of you!
He grabbed the villain and entered the store where the screams could be heard.
You sped up to watch the scene.
All Might's smile was shining so bright, you could feel positive energy from where you were standing. This was the number 1 Hero and you were going to work for him in less than a day.
You felt so safe at the moment, you felt so good and also proud that you will be joining his fight through his agency!
All Might gave back the stolen items, gently picked up a woman who seemed hurt and exited before you.
He gave you a thumbs up and a wink before jumping out of view with the woman in one arm and the villain in another.
You watched him go completely in awe of the symbol of peace. Never had you understood better the love All Might was inspiring throughout Japan.
You headed back home, your mind at ease and stars in your eyes.
You felt impatient to start your new job. What a day!
