Work Text:
“Not you punching the air like you’re in some boxing league.”
Jeongguk ignores his hyung as he keeps jumping around while punching the air. Once he’s finally over it, he turns around and sees his hyungs Seokjin, Yoongi, and Taehyung watching him. They have amused smiles plastered on their lips as they watch their youngest friend jump around.
“I can’t believe it! I finally bought my house!” Jeongguk exclaims. “And I’m only twenty-four!”
“Ouch,” Taehyung says jokingly. “Just you wait when I finally buy a mansion.”
“Whatever hyung.”
“We’re so proud of you,” Yoongi walks over to Jeongguk and puts his hand on Jeongguk’s shoulder, squeezing it lightly. “You deserve it. Your current apartment is trash. It was time to move.”
“Yes, and the neighborhood seems good too.”
“I convinced him to buy a house in a neighborhood instead of some penthouse in the middle of the city,” Seokjin says. “He only agreed because he wanted a yard.”
“I want a dog.” Jeongguk shrugs. “But if I earn more money I’ll probably get a studio apartment in the city, just in case. It's a good investment.”
Yoongi snorts. “Who knew the day would come that you would be talking about investments?” Yoongi ruffles Jeongguk’s hair.
Jeongguk just chuckles. He looks around the empty house one last time. He’s really happy about his recent purchase. He finally earned enough to buy himself a house. It wasn’t a very grand house like a mansion or anything, but it was enough for Jeongguk. A two-story house with a front and backyard in a good and secure neighborhood. It was even more than he could ask for.
“So when are you planning to move here?” Taehyung asks. “So I can clear my schedule and help you out.”
Jeongguk shakes his head. “Hyung, it’s fine. I think I can handle the moving by myself. I don’t have that much stuff at my apartment anyway. I’ll contact a moving agency soon once I finish packing all my stuff.”
“Have you looked for more furniture to add to your house?” Yoongi adds.
“Yeah, a little, when I went strolling at Itaewon a few days ago.” Jeongguk answers. “Anyway, what’s important to me right now is moving in here since my lease at my current apartment is ending soon. I can worry about the stuff I need when I’m all set here.”
“Mmm alright,” Seokjin says. “We should get going if we want to eat at that new restaurant in Gangnam that you mentioned, Tae.”
“Oh right!” Taehyung nods, looking at Jeongguk. “So? You don’t need to look around your house for another time?”
“I’m good,” Jeongguk says, putting his hands in his pocket. “Let’s go.”
Yoongi and Taehyung start walking ahead while Seokjin walks with Jeongguk, putting an arm around his shoulder. “You’re treating us, right? As a celebration?”
Jeongguk rolls his eyes. “Fine, whatever.”
Seokjin beams. “Hey! Did you guys hear that? Jeonggukie here is treating us.”
Yoongi and Taehyung turn around, grinning. “Great.”
After a few days, Jeongguk starts clearing up his apartment. He puts his hands on his waist as he huffs, looking at the boxes in front of him. Then, he looks around his apartment that’s almost empty. He’s moving to his new house on Saturday, and currently it’s already Wednesday.
He takes the towel on the counter and wipes the sweat on his forehead with it. He leaves the boxes be and walks to his small studio. His ‘small studio’ is actually a walk-in closet, but he figured he didn’t need a walk-in closet, but what he needed was a spare room to work in peace, so he turned the closet into his small studio, or his workplace.
He plops down on the chair in front of his computer, putting the towel over his shoulder. He squints as he checks on his work in progress that’s on his computer screen. Jeongguk works as a webtoon artist. He’s been an artist for two years, but it was only last year that he got his big break, publishing a webtoon of his own.
His digital manhwa blew up the moment he published the first chapter. He really wasn’t expecting it since he didn’t have previous works, it was his first work after all, but the morning after he published it, he received calls from his company, saying that he needed to work on the second chapter as soon as possible, since a lot of people anticipated it.
Now, his webtoon is still on-going but it’s almost over. He’s not too worried about it though, because he already has future projects set after he finished his current one.
Jeongguk scratches his cheek as he scrolls through the panels that he already finished for the chapter he’s working on. He keeps scrolling until he reaches the blank panels that he still needs to fill in with. He still has a lot to work on, and he’s been so busy preparing to move that he totally let it slip his mind.
Jeongguk picks up his pen and drags his chair closer to the table where his graphics tablet was. He twirls the pen in his fingers and starts drawing.
Jeongguk doesn’t even realize how many hours he’s been working to finish his work in progress. He jolts in his seat when his phone rings, reeling him from his intense focus on his work. He grabs his phone and squeezes his eyes shut, feeling the sting of looking at his computer screen for a long time. “Hello?”
“Hello, is this Jeon Jeongguk?”
“Yes, who is this?”
“This is the moving company you contacted yesterday.”
Jeongguk sits up straight in his seat. “Oh right, yes, is there anything that you need?”
“Just wanted to ask for the estimated count of cargo or boxes you have, as well as your preferred time for us to come by there, and the address of the destination.”
“Oh okay, I’ll email everything then.”
“Thank you sir.”
Once the call ends, Jeongguk immediately sends an email to them. He decides to take a break from working and resume with packing again. Jeongguk stands up from his chair and stretches. He walks out of his small studio and walks back to his living room where his boxes are. He can’t help but smile. He’s really moving, and he really bought a nice house all by himself. He’s slowly reaching his goals sooner than he even predicted.
“I told you I didn’t really need any help,” Jeongguk chuckles. “What are you all doing here?”
“Just be thankful we’re here.” Yoongi says, sitting on the lone sofa in Jeongguk’s living room.
“Yeah, even though you don’t have that much stuff I’m sure you’ll still need our help.” Taehyung adds.
“It’ll be much faster to set everything up in here too,” Seokjin says. “I don’t think you can finish everything in a day.”
“You underestimate me hyung,” Jeongguk says cockily. “I’ve been getting ready for this day my whole life.”
Some of the furniture Jeongguk had, like his coffee table and his sofa, had been brought to his home earlier than the boxes that contained most of his stuff. He checks the time on his watch. The moving truck will be here in a few more minutes.
When the truck finally arrives, Jeongguk practically sprints to the door. The movers are already bringing out his boxes from the back of the truck. “This way guys.” He calls to the movers, leading the way to his home.
The movers place the boxes in Jeongguk’s living room. Jeongguk helps out the other movers by carrying the boxes alongside with them. Once the last of his boxes have been brought, Jeongguk thanks them for their service. He closes the door and sprints over to his boxes.
“Talk about not having too much stuff,” Taehyung says, chuckling. “These are like… twelve boxes!”
Jeongguk tilts his head. “I didn’t even realize I had this much stuff.”
Yoongi squints his eyes at him. “You didn’t count how many boxes you have? What if there’s a missing box?”
“Nah, I sent the estimated amount of cargo I have to the company so they must know how much stuff I have.” Jeongguk says, taking out his cutter. “And I think I remember having twelve boxes, so these must be all.”
Seokjin frowns as he looks at the boxes. “You didn’t even name them!”
“Who cares, at least it’s here!” Jeongguk says, opening one box. He has a big smile on his face as he looks inside, only for his smile to fade.
Taehyung walks over to him and peeks in the box. Taehyung’s face contorts into confusion as he grabs something from inside — a textbook. A thick one, at that. Something Jeongguk would never have.
“The World of Business?” Taehyung stares at the book in his grip. “Why in the world do you have a textbook about business?” Taehyung peeks in the box again. “A ton of textbooks at that.”
“What?” Seokjin walks over towards them and peeks inside the box himself. He leans down to check more of the stuff inside the box and takes out another textbook. “International Business: Competing in the Global Marketplace… what the hell is this?”
Jeongguk laughs nervously, taking the cutter. “Okay, let’s check out another box.”
He rips the tape open and opens another box. “Oh, here’s something! My shoes!” Jeongguk takes out a shoebox. His eyes widen when he sees the brand on it. Gucci?! Does he even have Gucci shoes?
He slowly opens the box and is met with leather shoes… that he obviously doesn’t wear. And doesn’t own. And doesn’t fit him.
“Since when did you wear leather shoes like this?” Taehyungi takes the box from him and looks at the shoe. “These don’t even fit you!”
Yoongi crosses his arms and raises an eye at Jeongguk.
Jeongguk snorts. “Maybe it’s a gift I got from someone that I don’t remember anymore,” He says, going through the box again.
Seokjin pinches the bridge of his nose. “Just admit these aren’t your stuff.”
“Fine! They aren’t!” Jeongguk says, now panicking.
“This is what happens when you don’t check how many boxes you have and don't even bother to name them. Seriously, Jeongguk-ah?” Yoongi lectures him, but Jeongguk is already tuning him out as he opens the other boxes.
“Wait, are you really gonna open the other boxes?” Taehyung asks.
“Yeah, one of these boxes has got to be mine at least.” Jeongguk mumbles as he goes through another box. “Wait, this box is filled with clothes that I’d wear.”
“Clothes that you’d— Jesus Christ, you don’t know your own clothes?”
“Oh wait, I’m one hundred percent sure I have this green hoodie!” Jeongguk takes out a green hoodie from the box. “See?”
He turns to his hyungs and shows them the hoodie, only to have their eyes widen. Jeongguk blinks. “What? What is it?”
“Uh… do you own that too? Because I really did not have to know this.” Seokjin says.
“What?”
Yoongi sighs. “Look what you’re holding onto with the hoodie, dumb ass.”
Jeongguk checks on the hoodie and sees a black fabric tangled up with the hoodie that he didn’t notice. He squints his eyes and lets out an incoherent noise as he sees that it's lingerie. He puts the hoodie and the lingerie back in the box, his cheeks heating up. “I-I okay, that was... not mine.”
Taehyung looks like he’s holding back his laughter as he crosses his arms against his chest. Jeongguk glares at him. “It really wasn’t! These aren’t my clothes!”
“You just said you had the same hoodie.” Seokjin deadpans.
“Well people can have the same clothes, Sherlock.” Jeongguk rolls his eyes.
“Just call the damn company.” Yoongi says.
“Fine.” Jeongguk says, taking out his phone from his pocket. He walks to the corner of the living room and puts his phone against his ear as he waits for someone to pick up. He looks over to his hyungs who are inspecting the other boxes, but careful not to mess up the stuff inside that are clearly not Jeongguk’s.
“Hello?”
“Hey, yes hello! This is Jeon Jeongguk, and I’m a client from your company, I just moved today.”
“How may we help you sir?”
“Well…” Jeongguk scratches the back of his ear. “I seem to have gotten the wrong boxes. These aren’t my stuff.”
“Oh my… have you double checked them sir?”
“Yeah.”
“We are truly sorry about this inconvenience. We will look into this and immediately reach out to you tomorrow to fix this.”
Tomorrow? Jeongguk frowns, but he needs his stuff right now. “Tomorrow? Can’t it be fixed today, please?”
“I’m afraid we’re too full and too busy today sir, I’m really sorry. We will look into this first thing tomorrow.”
Jeongguk sighs. Guess he can’t do anything about it. “Alright. Thank you.” He mumbles, ending the call.
He walks back towards his friends with a grim expression. “Well, they’re gonna fix it tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow? Just what company did you pick?” Yoongi sighs. “I’m getting a headache.”
Jeongguk pouts. “I told you guys you didn’t have to come here!”
“You’d probably be having a breakdown if we didn’t come here,” Taehyung chuckles, putting an arm over Jeongguk’s shoulder. “It’s fine though, we can come back tomorrow since it’s a Sunday.”
Jeongguk sighs. “What should I do now? I don’t have my stuff aside from my furniture.”
“I guess you’ll just have to wait till tomorrow.” Seokjin says. “So if you got someone else’s box, it means your box is probably with someone else too.”
Jeongguk plops down on the sofa. “Oh god wait you’re right… they’re probably opening my boxes right now.”
“Do you have anything embarrassing in there?”
“No,” Jeongguk answers, crossing his arms. “Ugh, what if a bad person got my stuff? All my stuff for work is in one box. Damn it.”
“I’m sure it’ll be fine, Jeongguk-ah.” Taehyung says, sitting next to him. “At least you know to name your boxes now.”
Jeongguk glares at him, but Taehyung just gives him a boxy smile.
The next day, Jeongguk wakes up early just in time for the movers to come and fix the problem about his boxes. They texted him last night saying that they’ll be around first thing in the morning. So at eight in the morning, Jeongguk is walking towards his kitchen to eat some cereals. When he notices that he doesn’t even have any bowl or plates, he slams his refrigerator shut.
Thankfully Taehyung lent him some clothes that he has in his car, so Jeongguk didn’t have to sleep in the same clothes since his clothes were in one of his boxes. Jeongguk walks around his almost empty house, aside from the furniture and appliances.
Although things have gone for Jeongguk literally on the day he moved, he’s still very happy about moving into his new home. He’s still wrapping his head around the fact that this house is his own home that he bought with his own money. Plus, it’s the home that he had dreamed of when he was little.
After almost half an hour, Jeongguk hears a knock on his door. He gets up from his sofa and runs his fingers through his hair as he walks to the door. It must be the movers, since his hyungs won’t be arriving till ten or eleven in the morning.
Jeongguk opens the door and is met with three people. They give him a small bow. “Good morning, Mr. Jeon! We are terribly sorry for this inconvenience.”
“It’s alright,” Jeongguk answers. “I guess this can happen. It’s also my fault for not writing my name on my boxes.” Jeongguk rubs the back of his neck.
The woman in the middle checks on the clipboard she’s holding. “Thankfully we discovered that you exchanged boxes with your neighbor.”
Jeongguk raises an eyebrow. “My neighbor?”
“Yes, they also just moved in yesterday, thus a big reason why your boxes got exchanged with theirs, since they didn’t have a name on their boxes as well.”
Jeongguk looks at the house in front of his. He remembers going through that house as well because it was on the market, but it was a little bigger and more expensive, so he settled on his current house instead. He didn’t know it had been sold as well and someone moved in.
“Someone is already there as well and informing them of this inconvenience, since they called us last night too. Please come with us Mr. Jeon.”
“Oh, uhm, okay…” Jeongguk mumbles, walking behind the three people as they head over to his neighbors residence.
Unlike Jeongguk’s open front yard, the house in front of him has white walls surrounding it, with a black gate. Jeongguk remembers the house to be very modern and design well inside, thus why it was expensive. The woman presses the doorbell and Jeongguk awkwardly stands behind them in his crumpled black shirt and plain pajamas with his Nike slippers.
The gates suddenly open, which Jeongguk remembers are automatic. Damn it, that’s cool. I should’ve thought about buying this house a bit more. He thinks.
The three movers start walking inside and Jeongguk follows behind them, he looks around the front yard, admiring how beautiful and wide it is.
“Mr. Park, good morning! We apologize again for this inconvenience.”
Jeongguk looks over to the person approaching them. When he clearly sees who it is, his jaw drops.
Park Jimin is walking towards them. Park Jimin. The heir to one of the biggest corporations in Korea, and he’s also the face of their corporation, which means Jeongguk sees him a lot in magazines and advertisements. Ever since Jeongguk found out about Park Jimin’s existence, he’s been lowkey smitten over the man. Park Jimin was prettier than most professional models and idols. He was absolutely perfect.
Which is why he’s the inspiration that Jeongguk had in mind for the main character of his webtoon.
Park Jimin stops in front of them. His blond hair is a little disheveled, but nonetheless he still looks breathtaking. “Good morning as well, and it’s alright. As long as it has been resolved.” He says, and meets eyes with Jeongguk.
Jeongguk feels like his breath is hitching. Jimin takes a step forward and offers his hand. “Hello, you must be my new neighbor.”
Jeongguk blinks. Jimin is talking to him. He immediately lifts his arm and shakes Jimin’s hand. “Y-yes that’s me! Your new neighbor. Me. Jeon Jeongguk.” His hand is so soft.
Jimin looks a bit surprised by his outburst, but he nods slowly. “Okay uhm, I’m Park Jimin.”
Jeongguk lets go of Jimin’s hand and tries to compose himself, standing straight. He clears his throat. “It’s uh, nice to meet you.”
Jimin gives him a small smile. “You as well. Looks like we got a problem on our first day as neighbors.”
Jeongguk laughs awkwardly. “Yeah, you can say that.”
Jeongguk could see the movers bringing out the boxes from inside Jimin’s house. Jimin looks behind him as well. “Ah by the way Jeongguk-ssi, I opened your boxes because I checked if any of them were mine.”
“That’s okay, I did as well. But I didn’t take anything!”
Jimin laughs. “Oh, now I feel bad for borrowing this hoodie of yours.”
Jeongguk turns to Jimin, and it’s then that he notices that Jimin is wearing his hoodie. He clenches his fists behind him to stop himself from freaking out. Park Jimin is wearing his hoodie. What the fuck.
Jimin looks a bit guilty. “It’s just, I didn’t have any sweater in my bags since it’s in my boxes, and I was feeling chilly last night. I’m really sorry. I’ll take this to the laundry before giving it back, or I can pay you or buy you a new one.”
Jeongguk blinks, trying to process everything. Jimin is practically drowning in the hoodie. It’s already oversized on Jeongguk since he likes big clothes, but to Jimin who’s a bit smaller than him, it looks almost two times bigger.
At the thought of clothes, Jeongguk suddenly remembers the clothes he found in Jimin’s box yesterday. He feels his cheeks start to heat up and he quickly looks away and laughs. “O-oh it’s fine, Jimin-ssi! I don’t mind!”
“Oh, well, thank you.” Jimin smiles. “I promise I’ll give it back.”
“I-It’s fine!” Jeongguk waves his hand in front of Jimin. “I-I should go back… to my house, so they can get your boxes.”
Jimin nods. “Oh alright.”
Jeongguk quickly turns around and starts walking out of Jimin’s house. His eyes are wide as he passes by the movers who are transferring his boxes to his house, and when he finally reaches his home, he leans against the wall and slaps his hand over his mouth.
No way this is happening. Park Jimin is his neighbor?! Jeongguk knew this was a secure and exclusive neighborhood, but he didn’t think it’d be that exclusive to the point that the heir to a multi-million corporation would be his fucking neighbor! And not just any heir, but Park Jimin! A man he’s been crushing on and the literal inspiration of the main character in his webtoon!
“Mr. Jeon? We’ll be taking Mr. Park’s boxes now.”
“Right! Yes, of course.” Jeongguk says.
He watches as the movers bring his boxes in and Jimin’s boxes out. Once they finish everything, they apologize to Jeongguk one last time before Jeongguk tells them it’s alright and even gives them tips.
A few hours after the movers have left, Jeongguk’s hyungs arrive. They glance at the boxes in Jeongguk’s living room. “Hmm, are these yours now?”
“You guys won’t believe who my neighbor is.”
“Who?” Taehyung asks, eyebrows furrowing.
“It’s Park Jimin!” Jeongguk says, putting his hands on his head. “You know? The heir to the Park corporation? Him! And my boxes got exchanged with his!”
His hyungs look surprised at this, but Yoongi quickly nods. “Well then that explains the amount of business related textbooks.”
“Wait, so you mean, Park Jimin Park Jimin is your neighbor? Isn’t he also the main character from your webtoon?” Seokjin says.
Jeongguk slaps his hyung’s shoulder. “It isn’t him! It just… looks like him.”
Taehyung laughs, rubbing his hands together. “This is good! Did you meet him?”
“Yeah, earlier.” Jeongguk says, cringing when he remembers how he acted in front of Jimin. “I felt like a blood vessel of mine was gonna pop when I saw him. It’s my first time seeing him in person.”
“Well now you can see him everyday.” Seokjin wiggles his eyebrows.
“His house is literally surrounded with walls as tall as Mt.Everest,” Yoongi says. “But I’m sure you’ll still see him a lot.”
“Aish, let’s stop talking about it! Help me take out my stuff from the boxes.”
“I’m sorry, your stuff was what?”
“The movers got my boxes mixed up with my neighbor’s,” Jimin sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose. “But it’s fine, they fixed it first thing in the morning.”
“Mmm, so you met up with your neighbor?” Hoseok grins, glancing at the hoodie that Jimin is still wearing. “What did he say about that?”
“I honestly thought he’d think I was a creep,” Jimin says. “But I explained myself and he seemed alright with it. In fact, I think he knows me.”
“Oh, that can’t be good.” Namjoon says, shaking his head.
Jimin waves his hand nonchalantly. “It’s alright. He seems fine. He looks a bit young though.”
Hoseok squints his eyes at Jimin, crossing his arms against his chest. “Something doesn’t seem right here, the Jimin I know wouldn’t wear a random stranger’s hoodie.”
Jimin rolls his eyes at Hoseok. “Well the Jimin you know also wouldn’t have liked to freeze to death last night. It was really cold last night that I basically had no choice.”
“Why are you still wearing it then?” Namjoon adds.
“Why am I still—oh my god, seriously. What do you guys want to hear from me?”
Hoseok then bursts into laughter, playfully elbowing Jimin. “We’re just kidding Jimin-ah. Let’s take out your stuff now.”
Jimin huffs pettily, but internally, he can’t believe his hyungs know him a little too well. Jimin would absolutely not wear some random stranger’s hoodie, he admits he’s a little spoiled and picky about everything since he lived a life of luxury, but it’s true that he was feeling chilly last night. But, that’s not just it. The hoodie actually smelled really good, like fabric conditioner with a flowery scent. Jimin was surprised because he really didn’t expect a flowery scent coming from it. He couldn’t help but think that it was alright to wear the hoodie just by the fabric conditioner scent. Jimin doesn’t know what dawned on him last night, but he feels a little too comfortable with the hoodie.
He shakes away his thoughts and starts going through his stuff. Thankfully Jeongguk didn’t mess up his stuff, but it’s a little obvious that he looked through his boxes, which Jimin doesn’t mind since he’s literally wearing Jeongguk’s hoodie.
With the help of his hyungs, Jimin starts taking out his things from the boxes and puts them in specific areas of his home. He starts with arranging things for the first floor of his new house, like his living room and his kitchen. When he finishes with the first floor, he moves to his small office on the second floor of his new home.
“Don’t you wanna do your bedroom first so you can rest easily later?” Hoseok suggests.
“Nah, it’s fine. I can handle my bedroom later,” Jimin says as he takes out his textbooks to put on the shelf.
It was almost seven in the evening when Jimin finished putting his stuff all over his house. Although his house is still quite empty since he hasn’t found the time to go house shopping yet, he still thinks it’s enough for now. He thanks his two closest friends for their help and sends them off since it was getting late.
Jimin takes a quick shower and changes into clothes (that he owns, finally) and plops down on his bed. He checks his phone and sees a few messages from his secretary and from his father. The thought of having to be at work at seven in the morning tomorrow already makes Jimin grumpy. He loves his job, but what he doesn’t love is waking up early, plus he’s absolutely exhausted after settling his stuff in his new home.
Jimin just sighs, knowing he can’t do anything about it. He puts his phone on his bedside table and heads to sleep.
The next day, Jimin walks into their company building carrying a paper bag with him. He flashes a smile at the employees who greet him as he heads to his office. His secretary Choi Yeonjun immediately gets up from his seat once he sees Jimin walking towards him. “Good morning, Mr. Park!”
“Good morning secretary Choi,” Jimin answers, putting the paper bag on top of Yeonjun’s table. “I have a favor to ask.”
Yeonjun pushes his glasses up the bridge of his nose as he glances at the paper bag. “What is it, sir?”
“Please do take this to a laundromat for me.” Jimin says. “It’s only a pull-over hoodie so it’ll only take about an hour, if I’m not mistaken. Hand it back to me later after office hours.”
Yeonjun nods immediately. “Yes sir!”
Jimin smiles at him. “Alright, thank you. So what’s my schedule today?” He asks, heading into his office.
Yeonjun follows behind him with his iPad in his grip. “Well, your first meeting for today is with the Yakuzama group, which is until ten in the morning. And the next meeting is the meeting with the functional management team at 1PM until 4PM.”
Jimin places his bag on the sofa and walks over to his table. “Only two meetings today?”
“So far, yes sir.”
“Hmm, more time to finish my paperworks then.” Jimin says. “Thanks Yeonjun. By the way, has dad arrived already?”
“I don’t think so. I think he mentioned that you’ll be attending the meeting with the Yakuzama group without him.”
Jimin nods, leaning back on his swivel chair. “Okay. You may go, Yeonjunie. Just inform when the Yakuzama group arrives.”
Yeonjun gives him a small bow before he leaves Jimin’s office, closing the door behind him.
Jimin takes out the documents that he has to go through from his cabinet. He puts it all down on his table and starts skimming through the documents.
His day goes by just like that. He attends his meetings, and when he’s not in a meeting, he busies himself with the paperworks he has piled up. When Jimin finally closes the last folder from his pile, he leans back against his chair and circles his shoulders. He checks the time on his watch and sees that it’s already half past five. He didn’t even notice.
He starts cleaning up his table and takes the documents that he finished reading over and signed. He picks up his bag from the sofa and walks out of his office. The floor is already quiet, aside from a few employees who are walking around and also getting ready to head home.
“Secretary Choi,” Jimin calls to his secretary who is still on his table, focused on typing something on his laptop.
Yeonjun immediately perks up at that, looking up at Jimin. Jimin places the documents on Yeonjun’s table. “Here, I looked over these already.”
“Oh, okay sir.” Yeonjun says, and he picks up something from under his table. He hands over the paperbag to Jimin. “Here’s the hoodie you asked to be brought to the laundromat, sir.”
Jimin beams, taking the paper bag. “Ah right! Thank you Yeonjun. Are you not heading home yet?”
“Ah, I’m waiting for my friend Soobin from the marketing department.”
Jimin nods. “Alright, well I’ll go ahead then. Have a safe trip home!”
“You as well, vice-president!”
Jimin turns on his heels and heads to the elevators with the paper bag in his grip. Once he’s inside the elevator, he checks the hoodie inside the hoodie, which is neatly folded — courtesy of Yeonjun. Jimin checks the time on his watch and decides to stop by Jeongguk’s house to give back the hoodie.
Jeongguk grabs the water bottle and gulps down the remaining water in it as he looks at his computer screen. He’s been working on the draft of a chapter for his webtoon, and finally he finished the chapter and is ready to submit it for his supervisor to look over and for polishing.
What’s nice about his job is that he can work from home. Although he does have to go to their company, most of the time he works on his webtoon in the comfort of his home. Now that he has a new and even bigger home, it makes him feel more at ease when doing his job.
He looks at a panel on his computer that shows the main character of his webtoon. On the panel, the main character, who he named Kim Jeunghan, is talking on the phone. Jeunghan has blond hair, expressive puppy-like eyes, a button nose and pink pillow-like lips. Jeongguk also dressed him up in a white dress shirt tucked in his black slacks. A lot of his readers really like how he draws Jeunghan, but (thankfully) so far, no one has made comparisons of his MC to Jimin. Not that Jeongguk is embarrassed… well, okay, maybe he is, especially since said inspiration is his new neighbor.
Jeongguk is startled when he hears the doorbell ring. He immediately gets up from his seat and practically sprints down to the door. He’s been working all day that he forgot to have lunch so he ordered a lot of takeout for dinner. When he swings the door open, he’s prepared to greet the delivery person but is met with Park Jimin instead.
Jeongguk lets out a pathetic startled sound, gripping onto the door. “J-Jimin-ssi!”
Jimin flashes him a small smile. “Hello Jeongguk-ssi, I hope I’m not bothering you.”
“N-no! Of—of course not!” Jeongguk chuckles nervously. He glances at the outfit Jimin is wearing, and he concludes that he must’ve just gotten home from work. His blond hair is styled neatly, unlike yesterday when his blond hair was down, covering his forehead. He’s wearing a white dress shirt tucked in his black slacks—wait a minute.
Jeongguk’s eyes widens when he notices that Jimin is wearing the exact same outfit that he drew on his main character just earlier. Jimin must’ve noticed his change of expression because he glances down at his outfit. “Is there something on my dress shirt?”
“No! No, i-it’s just… I noticed you must’ve been from work.” Jeongguk reasons out.
“Oh yeah, I have,” Jimin chuckles. “Well, I just came by to give this back.” He hands over a paper bag.
Jeongguk slowly takes the bag from Jimin and peeks inside. He sees a hoodie inside of it, his hoodie, the one Jimin wore yesterday.
“I had it taken to a laundromat so that’s clean, don’t worry.” Jimin chuckles.
“Huh? Oh you didn’t have to!”
“What? Of course I did, or else it would have smelled like me.” Jimin says. “Anyway, thank you again for letting me borrow it.”
“It’s nothing Jimin-ssi,” Jeongguk answers, flashing a smile. Jimin smiles back at him.
They stand in front of each other in an awkward silence. Jeongguk starts to panic internally. What the hell are you standing around for, Jeon? Invite him in!
“I should probably go—“
“Would you like to come in—“
They both paused when they started speaking simultaneously. Jeongguk puts a hand on the back of his neck. “It’s just… I ordered a lot of food for dinner, maybe you’d like to come in for dinner?”
A small smile appears on Jimin’s lips. “I’d love to.”
Jeongguk feels his heart beating so loudly. He opens the door widely and steps aside so Jimin can enter. “That’s—that’s great!”
When Jimin steps inside, Jeongguk closes the door behind him. Jimin looks around his living room, and Jeongguk suddenly feels conscious. “My house’s still a bit empty since I didn’t really go shopping for new stuff yet.”
“Oh don’t worry, me too!” Jimin chuckles, turning to him. “My house is even emptier than yours.”
“Have a seat for a while Jimin-ssi, the food will be here in a bit.” Jeongguk gestures to the sofa.
“Thank you,” Jimin says, sitting on the sofa.
Jeongguk sits on the other end of the sofa, putting his hand on his lap. He tries thinking of something to say, but he feels like his brain is still short-circuiting on the fact that Park Jimin, the most beautiful man that Jeongguk has ever seen in his life, is sitting in his living room.
“So, why did you order a lot of food?” Jimin asks, his voice teasing.
“Oh, well I was busy working the whole day that I forgot to have lunch and now I’m really hungry.”
Jimin raises his eyebrow. “Really? Then are you sure it’s okay for me to share it with you?”
“Yes, of course! I purposely ordered a lot because I was planning on eating the leftovers for breakfast tomorrow but I can just eat cereal tomorrow morning.”
Before Jimin could answer, the doorbell rings. Jeongguk immediately springs up from his seat. “That must be the food.” He says, walking over to the door. He greets the delivery woman a pleasant evening before taking the food and giving her a tip. Jeongguk closes the door and walks over to Jimin.
Jimin gets up from his seat and walks over to Jeongguk to help him carry some of the paper bags. “Wow, this is a lot.” Jimin chuckles.
“I told you.” Jeongguk chuckles as well, walking over to the kitchen and placing the food on the island counter. Jimin follows his lead, putting the paper bags he helped carry onto the counter as well.
“Have a seat Jimin-ssi,” Jeongguk says as he takes out the food from the paper bags. From his peripheral view, Jeongguk can see Jimin moving to take a seat on one of the high stools and watching him prepare the food. He quickly focuses on unpacking the food and tries not to panic internally.
He takes two bowls and plates and places it on the counter along with the food. He sits on the stool in front of Jimin and hands Jimin a pair of chopsticks. “Uhm, I hope the food is to your liking.”
Jimin takes the chopsticks and rips the packaging open. “Of course, don’t worry Jeongguk-ssi. I eat almost anything.”
“Oh okay, uhm, just pick out any food you like.”
“Thank you,” Jimin smiles at him and starts glancing at the food in front of him. Jeongguk starts putting food onto his plate as well.
“So Jeongguk-ssi, how old are you?”
Jeongguk looks up at Jimin. “O-oh I’m twenty-four.”
Jimin tilts his head, looking oddly surprised. “Wow, really? I thought you’d be a bit younger.”
Jeongguk chuckles awkwardly. “Yeah, I get that a lot.”
“And what do you do for a living?”
Jeongguk freezes. He gulps before he looks down on his plate. “I-I uh… I’m a webtoon artist.”
“Oh wow, that’s amazing. When I was younger I used to read a lot of webtoons.”
Jeongguk’s eyes widen as he stares at the piece of chicken on his plate. But he immediately relaxes when he realizes that Jimin said ‘when he was younger’ which can imply that he doesn’t read them anymore. Jeongguk doesn’t even know why he’s panicking. It’s not like Jimin is immediately going to find out the main character of Jeongguk’s webtoon is basically him.
“I’m assuming that you already knew who I am before we even met.”
Jeongguk looks back up at Jimin. “Oh well, yeah I kind of did…”
“I knew it! You’re very nervous around me.”
“Ah, it’s just, I really wasn’t expecting you to be my neighbor. I can’t help but feel nervous.”
Jimin chuckles, lifting his chopsticks. “Don’t be. I’m not a celebrity or anything.” Jimin says. “And you’re thinking that what’s an heir like me living in a neighborhood like this instead of somewhere like Hannam the Hill or Seoul Forest Trimage?”
Jeongguk gulps, a little nervous that Jimin can literally read his mind. “It’s just how I see it in my head, and also in dramas.”
Jimin nods, chewing on his food before he answers Jeongguk. “Ah yes, the stereotypical businessman bachelor, living in a penthouse with floor to window ceilings overlooking the city,” he says. “I actually had that option in mind, but I opted for an average house in a quiet neighborhood like this.”
Average house? His house is literally the most extravagant one in the neighborhood. Jeongguk thinks.
“I’ve lived in our family home ever since, and my parents said I’m only allowed to move out once I get married or something.”
Jeongguk’s eyes widens. If Jimin had recently moved out of his family home, it means he must be married already. Jeongguk subtly glanced at Jimin’s fingers. He has a silver band on his left pinky, and another silver one with a carving on his right middle finger, but his ring fingers are bare.
“Oh you must be married then?” Jeongguk asks, trying to keep his voice neutral.
Jimin’s eyes widens, and he laughs, shaking his head. “Oh, absolutely not!”
Jeongguk blinks. “But I thought your parents are only allowing you to move out if you get married?”
“Yeah, being their only son and the heir to the corporation, they’re really protective and shit. But I’m literally twenty-six years old, it’s embarrassing that I still live with my mommy and daddy.” He rolls his eyes. “And I’m gay.Same-sex marriage isn’t even legal here. I don’t want to live with them forever you know.”
Jeongguk feels like his eyes are about to pop out. Jimin straight up told Jeongguk, an almost-stranger, about his sexuality. Jimin has always dodged the question with the media, and everyone had their suspicions. But Jeongguk really didn’t mind about it.
Jimin tilts his head at him. “What’s with the reaction, Jeongguk-ssi? Don’t tell me you’re ho—“
“No, no no no!” Jeongguk says quickly, waving his hand in panic and pointing to himself. “I-I’m gay too.”
Jimin nods, but it’s obvious that he relaxes after being a bit tense. “Oh, okay. I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay… my reaction wasn’t the best,” Jeongguk says. “I was just surprised you told me. You don’t really entertain the media about your sexuality.”
“It’s because they’re always up my ass,” Jimin answers. “They’ll be overly annoying about it so I just let people assume what they want to assume.”
“Right.”
“Besides, you won’t tell the media about anything I’m telling you right?”
Jeongguk immediately shakes his head. “No, I-I would never!”
Jimin smiles. “Okay, Jeongguk-ah. You can call me hyung then.”
After having that dinner with Jimin, Jeongguk realized a lot of things. Jeongguk can’t help that he was wrong about Jimin a lot. He can’t describe how he really sees Jimin, but he really wasn’t expecting Jimin to have a sort of playful personality. The Parks were known to be a very closed and stoic family, but Jimin seemed carefree.
The dinner they had brought them together to the point where they exchanged numbers and text casually. Jimin invites Jeongguk to dinner sometimes, and Jeongguk does the same. It became a habit for them. They've also met their other neighbors, who are mostly families. All in all, they formed a good bond together as neighbors, and maybe as friends.
It’s after a month when Jeongguk has a dream about Jimin. Jeongguk is laying on his bed with wide eyes while Jimin is on top, straddling him. Jimin has that playful look dancing in his eyes as he tilts his head. “Jeonggukie…” He purrs.
Jeongguk blinks. “I-I… hyung, what’s going on?”
“When were you going to tell me?” Jimin asks, putting his hands on Jeongguk’s chest as he leans forward.
“T-tell you—tell you what?”
“That you think I’m the prettiest person you’ve ever seen,” Jimin smiles.
Jeongguk lets out a strangled sound. “How did you…”
“I know everything,” Jimin says, chuckling. “And you’re keeping more things from me, aren’t you? I wonder who Kim Jeunghan is?”
“Oh my god,” Jeongguk mumbles.
Jimin throws his head back as he laughs. “Jeongguk-ah, you look like you’ve seen a ghost! I don’t mind. In fact, I feel honored.”
“Y-you do?”
“Of course! A talented creator like you having me as your inspiration,” Jimin says. “Sounds nice.”
“Oh.” Jeongguk says.
Jimin looks at him with intense eyes. “Do you wanna tell me anything else?”
Jeongguk raises his eyebrows in surprise. “Huh?”
Jimin giggles. “Innocent Jeonggukie. Did you forget or are you just pushing it in the back of your mind?” Jimin takes something from behind him and lifts it up in front of Jeongguk.
The moment Jeongguk sees the black lingerie, he sits up in surprise and wakes up from his dream. He looks around his dark room and buries his head in his hands out of embarrassment. He stays like that for a while before he lays back down and forces himself to fall back asleep, wishing he won’t have the same dream again.
A few days later, Jeongguk finally forgets about his dream when he becomes busy with his work. His supervisor is rushing him in making the future chapters because they were planning on doing a ‘double update in a week’ promo, which means Jeongguk needs to make the future chapters now so he won’t get behind.
He gets interrupted when he hears the doorbell ring. He glances at the time below his computer screen and sees it’s already seven in the evening and he hasn’t even had dinner yet. He always forgets about the time if he’s focusing on his sketches.
He heads out of his studio and stretches as he descends down the stairs. Once he swings the door open, he almost jumps back when he sees Jimin smiling at him. “Hi Jeonggukie!”
“H-hyung!” Jeongguk says in surprise. He hasn’t seen Jimin in almost two weeks because Jimin went overseas for a business trip. “You’re here!”
“Yeah, got back earlier in the morning but I went straight to work.” Jimin says.
Jeongguk opens his door wider for Jimin. “You must be tired hyung.”
“Absolutely,” Jimin sighs, walking inside. “But it’s fine. Tomorrow I don’t have to head to work so I can sleep the whole day.”
Jeongguk chuckles, closing the door behind them. “Sounds like a dream for you.”
“It is,” Jimin says, plopping down on Jeongguk’s sofa. “But I stopped by because I ordered a ton of food for dinner, I haven’t seen you in a while and I feel bad for not getting you anything from my trip.”
Jeongguk snorts, walking over to Jimin. “You didn’t have to get me anything.”
“Well, I know, but I passed by this store in Japan that had those anime figurines that you might’ve liked.”
Jeongguk’s eyes widens. “H-how did you know?”
Jimin laughs. “Did you forget that we switched boxes? Almost two of your boxes had those anime figurines in them.” He looks around the living. “Where did you put them, anyway?”
When Jimin mentioned the moving boxes, the dream he had a few days ago flashes in mind. He immediately feels his cheeks heat up and he turns away from Jimin. “I-I uh, put them in my room and s-studio.” Jeongguk mumbles embarrassingly.
“Aww you don’t have to be shy about it, Jeongguk-ah! I also had an anime phase.”
Jeongguk takes a deep breath. Jimin thinks he’s flustered because he found out Jeongguk is into anime and buys expensive figurines. It’s better for him to think that way than the real reason why Jimin is flustered, Damn him and his stupid brain. He already forgot about it.
Before Jeongguk could even say anything, the doorbell rings. Jimin springs up from his seat. “Ah, that must be the food, I’ll get it!”
“O-okay!” Jeongguk answers, not looking Jimin in the eye. Jimin squints his eyes at him suspiciously before he walks past him and towards the door. When Jimin swings the door open, he looks surprised. “Oh.”
“Oh my god,” Jeongguk hears Taehyung’s voice. He immediately sprints to the door and appears behind Jimin. Seokjin and Taehyung are standing in front of them, eyes wide.
“Hyung! What are you—what are you guys doing here?”
“We wanted to—“
“Wish you a good night!” Taehyung immediately says, interrupting Seokjin. “We were passing and thought, hey, let’s tell Jeongguk good night. So, good night! We’re leaving now.” He turns to Jimin and beams. “I’m Kim Taehyung by the way, and this is Kim Seokjin.”
“Hello,” Jimin chuckles, amusement shining in his eyes. “I’m Park Jimin, Jeongguk’s neighbor.”
“Well, it was nice meeting you Jimin-ssi. We’re so sorry for interrupting…” Taehyung says, and Seokjin elbows him not-so-subtly. “I mean, if we were interrupting something.”
“Oh not at all. Jeongguk and I were just going to have dinner. Do you guys want to join us?”
Taehyung and Seokjin give each other glances. Jeongguk face palms behind Jimin. They’re so horrible at acting and so obvious about everything. Jeongguk hates them.
“You’re so sweet Jimin-ssi, but we have somewhere else to go. Maybe next time, though!”
“Alright, you two better go now.” Jeongguk says.
“Yes, yes, we’re going.” Seokjin says, grabbing Taehyung’s elbow. “Good night to you both!”
“Good night!”
Seokjin and Taehyung walk back to Seokjin’s car and Taehyung gives Jeongguk a knowing glance over his shoulder before he gets in the car. Jeongguk rolls his eyes and watches as the car drives away.
“Your friends are so nice,” Jimin says, and he sees another vehicle park in front of Jeongguk’s house. “Oh, that’s definitely the delivery!” He says, and walks over to the vehicle.
Jeongguk rubs his temples. He waits by the door as Jimin talks to the delivery guy, taking all the paper bags. He walks back to Jeongguk, and Jeongguk meets Jimin halfway to help carry some of the paper bags.
“Thank you,” Jimin smiles at him.
“We always buy takeout when we eat dinner. I’ll try and cook next time.”
Jimin looks at him in astonishment. “Wow, I always had a hunch that you’re a good cook.”
Jeongguk chuckles. “I didn’t say I was good.”
“Still. I know you are.” He says, walking towards the kitchen first. Jeongguk looks at Jimin from behind, and suddenly he feels warm inside instead of the usual nervous and flustered feeling he always had when he was with Jimin.
This is nice, Jeongguk thinks to himself. Jimin turns to him and gestures him to come over. “What are you standing there for? Come on!”
Jeongguk immediately walks over to Jimin, and Jimin elbows him playfully. “You like the choice of food I got us?”
Jeongguk glances at the food on the counter. “This a lot. As expected from a CEO. “
“Not a CEO,” Jimin chuckles. “Well, not yet at least. My dad is currently both CEO and president. I’m the vice president.”
“Oh. When are you transitioning then?”
“In about a year and a half. My dad wants to reach the age of fifty when he retires. He’s dramatic that way.”
Jeongguk chuckles. “Well, nothing wrong with celebrating your golden jubilee year by retiring.”
Jimin snorts. “That’s exactly what he said.” He turns to Jeongguk and hands him a pair of chopsticks. “Let’s eat! I’m really hungry.”
Jeongguk takes the chopsticks and looks at Jimin who is already picking the food he’s going to eat first. Jeongguk has always admired Park Jimin, but only for his beauty since he didn’t know what Jimin was like as a person because he only saw him on magazines and television.
But after being neighbors with Jimin for a month or so, he can’t help but like him even more, knowing his personality and everything about him.
“Why are you here so early in the goddamn morning?” Jeongguk groans, rubbing his eyes.
“Because I can’t wait anymore! I have questions!” Taehyung says, marching inside Jeongguk’s home.
Yoongi and Seokjin step inside, and Jeongguk rolls his eyes. “Great, you guys are here too.”
“We’re curious as well.”
“Did it have to be at eight in the morning? I’m so tired.”
“And why are you tired?” Seokjin squints his eyes suspiciously.
Jeongguk slaps his hyung’ shoulder. “It’s not what you’re thinking, you pervert! I stayed up all night to finish my draft.”
“You never told us Park Jimin comes to your home, and with dinner!” Taehyung says loudly.
Jeongguk looks outside the window anxiously, like Jimin would be outside listening to them and Taehyung is loud as hell. “What do you mean? I told you guys Jimin hyung and I are slowly becoming… acquaintances. And it’s normal ‘cause we’re neighbors.”
Taehyung turns to Yoongi. “Hyung, you should’ve seen it last night. I almost had a heart attack when Jimin opened the door, and he was inviting us in for dinner like he lives in Jeongguk’s home! Like they live together or something!”
“What!” Jeongguk butts in immediately. “He was just being nice!”
“Did you tell him about your webtoon?” Yoongi asks.
“And why would I tell him that?”
“Will you ask him out?’ Seokjin asks.
“And why would I do that?”
His three hyungs look at each other before turning back to their youngest friend. “Well, he is the inspiration for your main character, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Maybe Jimin will even be touched and fall in love with you.” Yoongi explains.
“You watch too many romantic movies, hyung.” Jeongguk crosses his arms. “I’m sure he’ll think I’m weird and never talk to me again.”
“You’re too much!” Taehyung says. “Why would he think that’s weird? He’s your inspiration for your greatest work. That sounds romantic to me.”
“And for my question, you’d ask him out because you like him of course!”
“Are we forgetting who he is?” Jeongguk says exasperatedly. “He’s not just my neighbor. He’s an heir to a multi-million corporation. He has a reputation to uphold and he’s—“
“Out of your league?”
“Yes, thank you.” Jeongguk sighs. “Let’s be realistic here.”
“You asking him out seems realistic to me,” Yoongi says. “Status isn’t everything. And if it is, then you think so lowly of yourself. Are you forgetting who you are? You’re a content creator, a talented one at that. You’re so talented that you earned enough to buy yourself this house at a young age. And you continue to strive for your dreams too.”
“This is why I brought Yoongi hyung along,” Jeongguk hears Taehyung whisper to Seokjin.
“I don’t even know if he likes me!”
“Hmm, let’s see,” Seokjin pretends to think. “You two often have dinner together, which becomes some sort of date since it’s only the two of you; Jimin trusts you a lot that he’s comfortable being around you and comes to your house with ease; he’s a busy man but makes time to come see you… am I missing something?”
Jeongguk can’t help but pout. “Why are you guys all up my ass about my love life?”
“We just want what’s best for you,” Taehyung says. “And I don’t want you regretting not asking Jimin out just because you think he’s out of your league, It’s obvious you like him a lot.”
“Fine, whatever…” Jeongguk mumbles, but deep inside he’s beyond thankful for his hyungs. “I’ll make you guys breakfast.”
“That’s what I like to hear!”
It’s a few weeks after when the thought crosses Jeongguk’s mind again. He and Jimin still see each other more often than not, but only for a few moments since they both have busy schedules ahead of them.
Jimin invites Jeongguk on a Sunday to help him out in his garden. Jeongguk would never have thought that Jimin would be into gardening, but the man is just full of surprises. Jimin tells him that he loves flowers a lot because they have a wide garden in their family home and he’d always play there when he was younger.
“Actually now that I think about it, my house is too big for me, who lives alone.” Jimin says as trims the stems of dead leaves on bushes. “But I just shrugged it off because I liked the garden.”
Jeongguk hums. “Maybe you can get pets if you want.”
“I do!” Jimin says enthusiastically. “I really want a dog, or a cat. But I’m afraid that I’ll be too busy and not look after them much.”
“I was planning to adopt a dog too,” Jeongguk says. “I bought a house with a yard so I can have a dog that can run around.”
“Oh? That’s great! I’ll just give your dog some love if you finally adopt one, then.”
“If you want to adopt one too then go for it,” Jeongguk says. “And I’m sure you’ll still give them so much love and care even if you’re busy. I can watch over them if you’re too busy too.”
Jimin turns to Jeongguk and pouts. Jeongguk chuckles. “What?”
“Nothing. You’re so good to me,” Jimin says softly, pinching Jeongguk’s cheek.
Jeongguk feels like his heart is about to burst. He stares at Jimin in surprise, and Jimin’s eyes suddenly widens. “Oops! I forgot I was wearing the garden gloves. Now there’s a bit of dirt on your cheek.”
Jeongguk immediately grimaces and wipes his cheek with his sleeve. “Hyung!” He whines.
“Sorry!”
When they finish with gardening, Jimin insists they order takeout for lunch, but Jeongguk immediately stops him. “Wait, wait!”
Jimin looks up from scrolling on his phone and looks up at Jeongguk. “What is it? You don’t want Chinese food for lunch?”
“No, it’s just, maybe I can cook for us instead. We always order takeout.”
Jimin puts his phone down and practically jumps in front of Jeongguk, making Jeongguk take a step back in surprise. “That’s a great idea!”
Jeongguk can’t help but chuckle at how excited Jimin looks. Sometimes he forgets that Jimin is two years older than him. He’s just very carefree and bubbly. “Okay, what do you want me to make?”
“All up to you. I’ll eat anything! I think my fridge and pantry are full so give it your all.”
Jeongguk snorts. “Alright, Gordon Ramsey.”
Jeongguk decides to make soft tofu stew. Jimin sits on the island counter silently while Jeongguk cooks. He looks over at Jeongguk from time to time, but mostly focuses on his laptop in front of him. He must be checking on work.
In around half an hour, Jeongguk gently puts the bowl of stew on top of the heating pad on the counter. Jimin closes his laptop and takes a whiff of the smell of the stew. “Oh my… it smells like the stew my grandmother makes.”
Jeongguk also puts a plate of chopped vegetables and cups of steamed rice on the counter before he sits in front of Jimin. “I got the recipe from my mom and she’s like some sort of god in the kitchen.”
Jimin takes a spoonful of the stew in his mouth. Jeongguk carefully watches his reaction, and when Jimin’s face lights up, he couldn’t help but smile as well. “Wow, this is amazing. Thank you Mrs. Jeon for this godsent recipe.”
“No thank you for the cook?” Jeongguk teases.
Jimin smiles at him cheekily. “Thank you Jeonggukie.”
Jeongguk’s heart soars.
Once they finish eating, they settle on Jimin’s L-shaped sofa that seems new to watch a movie that Jimin wants to watch. “Did you get this recently?” Jeongguk asks, referring to the sofa.
“Hmm? Oh yeah, I ordered it from Thailand so it took a while.” Jimin says, picking up the remote from the coffee table to turn on the television and play a movie.
They watch the movie in a comfortable silence. Somewhere between the movie, Jimin turns to Jeongguk “Jeonggukie,”
“Hmm?”
“You’re not busy today, are you?”
“Not really,” Jeongguk answers. “Why?”
“I’m just worried I might be holding you back by letting you watch this movie with me.”
“Of course not,” Jeongguk says. “It’s fine hyung. I finished my work a bit early anyway.”
“Hmm,” Jimin hugs the throw pillow in his arms tighter. “I never got to ask, but what’s the name of your webtoon? Maybe I can check it out.”
Jeongguk’s eyes widen, but then he relaxes when he remembers what Yoongi and Taehyung had told him before. He feels like he would’ve passed out by now if his friends didn’t give him that talk a few weeks ago.
“Well, the title of the webtoon I’m working on is Stars Will Guide You Home.”
“Sounds romantic, “Jimin says, turning to Jeongguk. “What’s it about?”
“Well, it’s about this guy, the main character, he thinks he’s lost. Not literally lost, but he doesn’t know which path he’s going in his life. But then he meets this person, who he thinks holds the stars in his eyes. Something like that . It’s corny or whatever.”
“I think it’s really sweet,” Jimin says. “Did you think of the idea?”
“Yeah, the main idea is mine but I’m mostly just the artist of the webtoon since I’m more into drawing than writing. The writers in the company just took my idea and made it flourish, with my consent of course. And I’m considered a co-writer as well.”
Jimin nods in understanding. “Oh, that’s nice. It’s good that you’re doing something you love.”
Jeongguk takes out his phone. “Uhm, do you want to see some of it?”
Jimin moves closer to him. “Of course! I’ve always been curious about your art style.”
Jeongguk chuckles and opens the app. He searches for his webtoon and presses the first chapter. He scrolls down until the main character is introduced. “Here. This is the main character. His name is Kim Jeunghan.”
Jimin peeks at Jeongguk’s phone. “Wow, you draw so well it’s almost realistic. He has blond hair like me too!”
Jeongguk glances at Jimin. “That’s because he’s you. Kind of.”
Jimin’s eyes widens. “What do you mean?”
Jeongguk looks away, starting to feel a bit embarrassed. “Well, you know… I knew you way before we became neighbors. I see on television and on magazines sometimes. I kind of thought you were, you know, and you just became my inspiration for Jeunghan I guess.”
Jimin smiles, knowing where this is going. “You think I’m pretty?”
“I think you’re beautiful.”
Jimin’s expression softens. “No one’s ever called me that before.”
“You’re kidding. That’s impossible.”
“I’m serious,” Jimin chuckles, sitting straight. “I like it.”
They stare at each other for a moment, and before Jeongguk could comprehend that Jimin is leaning towards him and gives him a swift kiss. When Jimin leans away, he looks into Jeongguk’s eyes again, like he was trying to decipher Jeongguk’s reaction. Jeongguk doesn’t even process it fully before he pulls Jimin by the nape to press their lips together in a longer and deeper kiss.
The kiss feels like something that Jeongguk has been craving for so long. Jeongguk feels Jimin’s firm mouth against his, like he’s determined to steal Jeongguk’s breath away, like he’s been craving for this as well. Jeongguk tugs on Jimin’s lower lip with his teeth, slipping his tongue into Jimin’s parted mouth.
Jimin’s breathing becomes frantic. He brings up his hand to tangle his fingers into Jeongguk’s hair. Jeongguk pulls Jimin closer by the waist, making sure he’s not in an awkward and uncomfortable angle. He breaks the kiss and buries his face into Jimin’s neck, breathing in the faint vanilla scent on him. “I’m not reading the situation wrongly, right?” Jeongguk breathes out against Jimin’s neck.
Jeongguk can feel Jimin shake his head as he wraps his arms around Jeongguk. “No. I want you, Jeongguk.”
Jeongguk feels like he’s on cloud nine. His heart is soaring, and he feels like his body is on fire. Jeongguk nibbles, sucks, and kisses on every inch of Jimin’s neck. Jimin lets out a breathless moan and lets Jeongguk scatter kisses on his neck and collarbone before he gently pushes him away. Jeongguk looks at him with wide eyes, like he’s worried he did something wrong, but Jimin gives him a cheeky smile before he pulls his shirt over his head and tosses it to the side. He reaches over to grab the hem of Jeongguk’s shirt, and tries tugging it up.
Jeongguk chuckles and lifts his arms so Jimin can get rid of his shirt. Once Jimin tosses he cups Jeongguk’s cheeks. “My room. The lube and condom are there.”
Jeongguk raises an eyebrow. “So we’re actually going to your room yet you already took off our shirts.”
Jimin gets up from the sofa and winks at Jeongguk. “I couldn’t wait to see how buff you were, and now that I’ve seen it, I am so turned on that we need to go to my room now.” He says, grabbing Jeongguk’s wrist to pull him up from the sofa.
Jeongguk chuckles and let’s Jimin drag him to his bedroom. They climb to the second floor and Jimin pushes the door to his room open. His room is clean and still a bit empty, lacking a few furnitures. Jimin pushes Jeongguk onto the bed, and Jeongguk’s eyes widen in surprise as he lands on his back. Jimin climbs up the bed as well, sitting on Jeongguks’ abdomen. Jimin could feel Jimin’s ass brushing onto his already hard groin, and he grits his teeth.
Jimin leans down to give Jeongguk a feverish kiss, his hands pressing against Jeongguk’s chest for support. Jimin moves his lips, trailing a path from Jeongguk’s lips to his jaw, and up towards his ear. Jeongguk shivers when he feels Jimin’s breath against the sensitive skin on his ear lobe. “You’re so gorgeous, Jeongguk-ah.” He whispers.
“Says the most beautiful man ever,” Jeongguk breaths out.
“Ah, you give me butterflies in my stomach.” Jimin giggles before he tugs on Jeongguk’s ear lobe with his teeth, making Jeongguk moan.
Jimin moves back a bit and bends his knee to lift himself up as he tugs Jeongguk’s sweatpants down along with his briefs. Jeongguk lets out a strangled sound once his cock springs free, fully hard and almost strained. Jimin wraps his fingers around it and starts stroking slowly. Jeongguk squeezes his eyes shut, his breathing getting heavier and his mouth slightly open.
The expression Jeongguk makes shoots straight down to Jimin’s cock. He moves his hand up and down in a sensual and slow rhythm. Jeongguk rolls his hips to meet Jimin’s touch, raising his upper body in an attempt to meet Jimin with a kiss, but Jimin pushes him back on the bed, grinning almost sinisterly. “Stay put baby.”
Jimin kept stroking him until he could feel signs of an impending climax. He pulls his hand back, and Jeongguk’s eyes shot up, eyebrows furrowed. He looks absolutely hot and Jimin is so greedy to feel Jeongguk in him. Jimin ignores Jeongguk's confused look as he climbs off of Jeongguk and pulls his pants off. Jeongguk kicks the sweatpants tugged down to his knees as well.
Jimin climbs back on top of Jeongguk as soon as he’s naked, one knee on each side of his hips. He leans down to press their lips together again, and he feels Jeongguk’s hand sliding up from his thigh to his ass. Jeongguk gives his ass cheek a squeeze, which makes Jimin moan in his mouth. Jimin pulls away from the kiss and leans over towards the bedside table, opening the cabinet to grab the lube and condom.
Jimin pops the lube open and is about to pour some on his fingers to prep himself when Jeongguk grabs his wrist. “Wait.”
Jimin looks at him. “What is it?”
“Let me,” Jeongguk says, slowly taking the lube from Jimin. “Wanna make you feel good.”
Jimin can’t help but giggle. “My prince charming.”
Jeongguk pours a generous amount of lube on his fingers. He stares at Jimin on top of him as he warms up the lube on his fingers. Jeongguk’s eyebrows furrow when he remembers something. Jimin on top of him… it’s just like the dream he had a few weeks ago. This is almost exactly how it looked like, but this time, it’s all real.
Jeongguk grabs Jimin’s waist, keeping him steady as he starts sliding his fingers downwards and teasing Jimin’s rim. Jimin whimpers, pushing his ass back to meet Jeongguk’s fingers. Jeongguk slowly slides in a finger, and Jimin bites his lower lip. Jeongguk squeezes his hips with his other hand as starts moving his finger gently. “Relax,” Jeongguk says.
“I am very much relaxed, Jeongguk-ah.” Jimin says through gritted teeth. Jeongguk just chuckles as he keeps sliding his fingers in and out, and then adding a second finger.
Jimin lets out a small gasp when he feels two of Jeongguk’s fingers curling inside him. “Fuck, Jeongguk, yes,” he moans, lifting his ass even more and arching his back.
He adds in a third finger, not bothering to slow down his pace. He keeps hitting the right spot, which sends small jolts through Jimin’s whole body. He lets out a string of mewls and moans, not evening feeling the pain of the stretch. His mind is too clouded with pleasure, and Jeongguk is so good with his fingers that it drives Jimin crazy. What can this man not do?
When Jimin feels the impending orgasm from Jeongguk’s fingers, he immediately lifts himself up, enough for Jeongguk’s fingers to slip out of him. Jeongguk raises his eyebrow. “Oh?”
“Alright,” Jimin says breathlessly as he reaches for the condom and the lube. “Looks like your fingers are not only good with a pencil huh?”
Jeongguk lets out a throaty chuckle. “I guess not.”
Jimin rips the condom open with his teeth. With quick hands, he unwraps it and rolls it onto Jeongguk’s erection, making Jeongguk groan at the touch. Jimin pours lube onto his hands and starts stroking Jeongguk’s cock. “Hyung, I’m gonna come if you keep doing that…”
“Right,” Jimin says, pulling his hand back and positioning himself.
“Wait, are you going to r—“
Jimin doesn’t let Jeongguk finish his sentence. He sinks down on Jeongguk’s cock, letting out a shaky moan. Jeongguk groans loudly, his eyes rolling back as he grabs onto Jimin’s waist. Jimin straightens his back when he bottoms out on Jeongguk’s cock. Jimin watches Jeongguk underneath him, his eyes squeezed shut, his heaving chest, his disheveled hair with strands sticking on his forehead due to sweat. He looks absolutely divine.
Jimin starts moving his body with Jeongguk’s hands supporting him. The room is filled with the sound of skin against skin, both their mutters of curses and strings of mewls and moans. When Jimin feels Jeongguk’s cock inside him at a delicious angle, he moans loudly and throws his head back. He rolls his hips eagerly.
“Jimin, shit,” Jeongguk groans. “You’re amazing. So good…”
“Yeah?” Jimin asks, dazed. He starts moving faster, trying to ignore the way his legs are shaking.
He feels Jeongguk lifting his hips and meeting Jimin’s movement. “Hyung, I’m gonna come. Fuck,”
“Yeah, come on,” Jimin says, keeping up his movements, eager to make Jeongguk come first. Jeongguk grabs his hips tightly, his fingernails digging into Jimin’s skin to steady him as he lets out a grunt. Jimin feels Jeongguk pulsate inside of him, his whole body completely still.
Jimin wraps his other hand on his cock and starts jerking himself off as he looks at Jeongguk’s blissed out expression. He feels Jeongguk kneading his ass cheeks as he gives Jimin a smile. Jimin comes all over Jeongguk’s abdomen, and he lets out a shaky breath. He falls over onto Jeongguk’s chest, and Jeongguk is quick to wrap his arms around him.
The room is silent as they both catch their breaths. Jeongguk’s arms tighten around Jimin as he plants a gentle kiss on Jimin’s head. Jimin closes his eyes, burying his head into Jeongguk’s neck.
Jeongguk slowly moves away from Jimin, pulling out of him. He rolls Jimin onto the bed, and Jimin lets him. Jimin hasn’t done that had sex in a while, especially ride someone, so he’s exhausted.
Jeongguk pulls the condom and ties it up neatly. He gets up from the bed and walks over to the bathroom to discard the condom and wipe Jimin’s cum off his abdomen, not wanting to make a mess on Jimin’s bed. Jeongguk walks back to the bedroom as soon as he finishes cleaning up. He looks at Jimin, who’s under the sheets and looks tired, but smiles when he watches Jeongguk’s naked body. Jeongguk gets back on the bed, slipping under the sheets nexto to Jimin and Jimin quickly turns towards him and puts an arm over his chest.
Jimin rests his head on Jeongguk’s chest. Jeongguk stretches out his arm and starts rubbing circles on Jimin’s bareback. “That was nice.” Jiimin murmurs.
“It was more than nice,” Jeongguk answers. “It felt like a dream to me. “ He says.
Jimin chuckles, snuggling closer to Jeongguk. “You know, I liked you the first time I saw you.”
“What? Really?”
“Yeah,” Jimin mumbles. “I don’t know why. When you were all nervous around me, fondness bloomed in my chest. There’s just something about you.”
“Well, whatever it is, I hope it’s something good.”
Jimin looks up at him. “In fact, I know what it is.”
Jeongguk raises his eyebrows, looking back into Jimin’s eyes. “What?”
“It’s the stars in your eyes.”
Jeongguk groans. “Not a reference to my webtoon!”
Jimin laughs. “Why not? And I’m serious!” He says, pressing a chaste kiss onto Jeongguk’s lips. “You really do have stars in your eyes.”
Jeongguk rolls his eyes, but a smile is plastered on his lips. He pulls Jimin closer in a tight embrace. They stay like that for a while, until Jimin says he wants to sleep in boxers at least. So he gets up and opens his closet to pick a pair of boxers. “Hey Jeongguk,”
Jeongguk lazily turns his head towards Jimin, staring at his bareback and his plump ass. “What?”
“Remember this?” Jimin turns to him, showing Jimin a piece of black fabric.
Jeongguk’s eyes are immediately filled with horror. Is this his dream all over again?! What if he’s really dreaming?
Jimin bursts into a fit of laughter. “The look on your face proves me right. So you do know about this.”
“H-how… how’d you know?”
Jimin puts back the lingerie in his closet and puts on a pair of boxers. He throws Jeongguk a pair as well as he slips back under the sheets. “It was literally tangled and right on top of the box, which means that you most likely saw it or something.”
“I-I… well I didn’t mean to!” Jeongguk says, his cheeks heating up.
Jimin giggles, wrapping his arms around Jeongguk and giving him a kiss on the cheek. “It’s okay. I can wear it for you next time.”
Jeongguk almost chokes on his saliva. “Huh?”
Jimin’s facial expressions scream pure amusement. “Ah, nervous Jeongguk is back I see. Jeonggukie, we’re literally going to be a thing from now on. Unless… you don’t want to?”
“N-no! No I want to. I like you so much Jimin,” Jeongguk says quickly. “I like you a lot. I-I was planning to ask you out actually.”
Jimin smiles. “Really? Well then I accept. From now on, we’re going out.”
Jeongguk really thinks he’s dreaming.
“Let’s take a nap. I can cook us dinner later.” Jimin mumbles, his eyes already closing.
“I didn’t know you can cook too,” Jeongguk says, burying his nose against Jimin’s head.
“I’m full of surprises.” Jimin mutters.
“That, you are.” Jeongguk answers, smiling.
When Jeongguk thought about moving into his new house, he was expecting changes into his life. But he definitely did not see Park Jimin coming. But he’s not complaining, not at all.
In fact, he’s thankful. And he wouldn’t trade it for anything else in this world.
