Chapter Text
"Tae! I'm gonna be late! Please, hurry up!" Jimin exclaims as he scrambles in his room, shoving his stuff in his bag, making sure that he packed his make-up stuff and his camera.
Jimin now regrets giving in to Taehyung last night and watching movies and eating trash, he swears he could feel at least two pimples already starting to pop up on his face. He puts on his mask, gives a final look at the mirror and fixes his bangs a little before going out of his room and barging in on Taehyung's.
"Are you still not done yet?" he groans out, looking at the time. If they don't make it out in the next two minutes, he'll be fifteen minutes late. He should've been at least thirty minutes early because he needs to see the models and the outfits so he knows what kind of make-up he'll be doing. But, he knows he doesn't have time to even worry about it.
Meanwhile, Taehyung was packing his own stuff for his art class this morning. His hair doesn't even look tidied up but his eyes are bright and a smile is on his lips. Jimin couldn't help the fond smile that took over his lips.
Maybe he doesn't regret being late today if it meant that his soulmate was looking a bit better now after spending the night feeling upset because he got dumped by another asshole.
"I'm done, I'm done. Stop looking like you're about to murder me," Taehyung says, not even looking up at Jimin as he packs his thick sketchpad.
After five minutes, Taehyung was finally driving Jimin to work and they only managed to say quick goodbyes before Jimin was rushing out of the car and into the building.
He was twenty minutes late now and he just hoped that his boss wouldn't come to the shoot himself and find out that he's late for an important shoot.
When he reached the studio, the models were already dressed and some already had their makeup done. He sighs, murmuring apologies as he makes his way to a table, beckoning for a model to sit in front of the vanity.
They made quick greetings and talked a bit as he skillfully added makeup to the flawless features, matching it appropriately with the model's outfit. He was glad that there were only six models today and within an hour or two, he was done with their makeups.
Finally sitting on his chair, he went to grab his camera, browsing the pictures he took of the models, looking for mistakes in his works and humming in satisfaction when he found none. He's always loved his work and today, his blending is immaculate so aside from being a bit tardy, it was already a good day.
He picked out his favorite look, as always, making sure to post it and then making a mental note of small ideas he comes up with for his video later.
Jimin is a well-known makeup artist and when he's not working, he's filming lipstick reviews. He wasn't even planning on doing these things actually. Sure, he's liked makeup and lipsticks since he was younger but he didn't actually think that he'd be able to make a living out of it. It used to be just a dream for him. He's not complaining now, though. He loves his job and he absolutely loves making reviews of various lipsticks.
After retouching some of the models' looks whenever they're done with a theme, he basically has nothing to do so he browses on his phone, looking through comments on his videos and liking and replying to some.
His videos only consist of half of his face since he only does lipstick reviews and sometimes, he even indulges in mukbangs to try out how long a lipstick would last.
All in all, he's having so much fun. It can be stressful sometimes but he also loves his job so he doesn't mind much.
While browsing, he receives a message and he figures it's just Taehyung since his bestfriend usually messages him when he's bored in class.
His eyebrows rose when he saw the message and he couldn't help the wide smile on his face. He's going to receive another package tomorrow and he felt his heart jump with excitement.
Jimin, before he became a makeup artist, was studying a business degree that he doesn't really want. However, he didn't have a choice at that time since he was unsure about pursuing something that he likes for fear that he might not get to do anything with it. So, he chose what his parents originally wanted for him.
Just barely half a year later, he received a package from an unknown sender. He opened it with Taehyung breathing down his neck, looking like he was ready to pounce at the box in front of them. They were both taken aback when they saw a smaller, neatly packaged container inside.
Jimin took it carefully and when he managed to open the container, he let out a gasp, eyes widening and sparkling excitedly.
It was a set of lip gloss he had been eyeing ever since they were out, which was a month ago. He turned to look at Taehyung, eyes just as sparkly as the gloss. "Holy fuck. Is this a prank? Are these from you?" Jimin accused, squinting his eyes at Taehyung suspiciously.
"Baby, you know I love you with all of my heart but I literally cannot afford that shit. I'm as broke as you!" Taehyung exclaimed with a snort.
"If you didn't send this, then who did?" Jimin asked, frowning a bit but also hugging the package to his chest. "My parents would never... I don't know anyone else."
Taehyung looked at the signed form stuck on the box and he saw that it was for Jimin so it couldn't have been a mistake either.
Ever since then, Jimin has been receiving random packages with lipsticks, glosses, makeup palettes, brushes- it steadily grew and with every year, the products also got fancier and more expensive as if his anonymous gift sender was keeping track of the newest products on the market.
He had more products than he could ever use so he made an impulsive decision of dropping his business degree and taking his dream cosmetology course instead. His parents weren't happy with it but they didn't say anything further when Jimin said he'll handle all the expenses himself.
Years later, he's now a popular makeup artist, being called when there's huge photoshoots and for celebrity and idol interviews. His schedule can be hectic sometimes but he's happy.
Today has been pretty calm for him except this morning and he had time to interact with some of the comments, only being called when he needs to retouch the makeup. Just before the sun sets, he was out of the building and already calling Taehyung to pick him up. Since he has free time, he decided that he'll edit the video that he filmed the other day after their dinner. His schedule isn't that busy for tomorrow too so he was already planning to go shopping and maybe even film another video.
Jimin's happy and he knows that this level of happiness would at least last.
It's the next day and everything's already going wrong.
He forgot to set an alarm and Taehyung is an even heavier sleeper than is especially since he stayed up all night long gaming despite the fact that he has a project to do.
They didn't even have time for coffee by the time they were out and ready. Jimin couldn't find his favorite sweater and on top of that, his boss called to inform him that there's been a change of schedules and he has at least three shoots he needs to come to and an interview for himself that they had apparently forgotten to inform him earlier.
The only thing that's perfect were his eyebrows and eyeliner and even that didn't lift his mood up a little.
As soon as he was dropped off to his building, Taehyung smiling apologetically at him, he was immediately ushered into a car and brought into the events where he was needed.
A few hours of nonstop brushing and blending, he was tired. Thankfully, he had a break after the second batch of models and he decided to sit in front of a vanity, retouching his own makeup. He was tired but he also has to look flawless everyday.
"You know, with a face like yours, you don't really need makeup anymore," he heard a voice say.
He suppressed the need to roll his eyes , knowing that it's his boss hitting on him again.
Very professional, he bitterly thinks.
"Everyone can put makeup on if they want to," Jimin replied, plastering a fake smile on his face, not even looking behind him as he carefully puts on some lip gloss, smacking his lips afterwards and puckering his lips a little before gathering his things and cleaning up.
He hears footsteps behind him and he awkwardly clears his throat when he feels a hand on his shoulder. "Well, with beauty like yours, I think it's enough. Though, I'll have to admit, those gloss looks heavenly on you," his boss commented, smiling flirtatiously and, well, disgusting.
Jimin just smiled stiffly before moving away and giving his boss a slight bow. "Uh, thank you, sir. That's very kind of you. I need to go now," he said, giving another smile before rushing out, not wanting to get held up into another conversation.
Jimin loves his job so much that he forgets he has a shitty boss.
He sighs and just continues to work, hoping that his boss wouldn't try to catch him alone again.
When work was finished, he immediately left, not even texting Taehyung to come pick him up and deciding to just get a cab and go to the café near their apartment. He ordered for Taehyung already, hot chocolate for Tae and iced coffee for him. He also ordered some strawberry cheesecake. He went to their usual table and then messaging Taehyung that he's there, knowing that the younger's classes are done.
He rolled his eyes when Taehyung sent him a picture of a sulking cat when he found out that Jimin didn't call for him. Not even five minutes later, he's being hugged by his bestfriend and a kiss was left on his cheek.
"Hi, Minie! Missed you all day. I'm still so sorry for earlier and you didn't even let me pick you up today," Taehyung ranted, pouting at Jimin and playfully kicking his leg under the table, making Jimin giggle.
"Sorry, my boss was being a bitch. And no need to apologize Taetae, I already said I forgot to set an alarm," he says, giggling again when Taehyung made a face.
"Ew, I hate him. Just give me permission to hunt him down already."
And with that, his mood was already slowly being lifted. Count on his soulmate to cheer him up at all times.
In the middle of eating their cakes, his phone buzzed and he opened it with annoyance, thinking that it was his boss messaging him again.
His face beamed when he saw that it was from a delivery and he looked up at Taehyung, smile blinding. "I got another package!" he said, even bouncing in his seat a little from his excitement. Taehyung smiled fondly at him and they hurried with their cakes before leaving the café with a skip in their steps and hands held together.
Seeing a box by their doorstep is not a new thing but it never gets old and it's always met with the same bubbly excitement from them both.
Jimin carries the box inside, giddy and smiling wide. It was a bigger package than usual and also heavier. He was long past feeling wary of these packages because it's been years and he just feels as though it's Christmas multiple times a year for him.
He put the box in the living room and he opened it like how a kid would open their Christmas present. Taehyung just watched at the side, also buzzing with excitement since he gets to see the pretty products alongside Jimin and sometimes he takes a gloss or an occasional lipstick here and there. Jimin then finds the thing making the package heavy. It was wrapped in paper and when he ripped it open, he gasped.
"Oh, wow. That's so pretty," Taehyung voiced out, also in awe.
A vase was sitting inside and it looked so beautiful and delicate. This is kind of new but he's started to receive more than makeup stuff lately.
"The flower patterns look so real," he said, touching it with light fingers and feeling the pattern. This vase looks like it cost so much and Jimin wants to thank this person profusely, or even better, send something back.
His eyes twinkled when he saw a note and his heart skipped a beat, thinking that this person sending him gifts had finally decided to introduce themselves.
Jimin pouted and let out a whine when the note just read 'For the flowers I'm about to send.'
"What? What is it?" Taehyung asked, draping his body on Jimin's back and putting his chin on Jimin's shoulder, laughing when he read the note. "I think your secret admirer is just teasing you now," he says.
Jimin let out a huff. "I'm going to post a video later and I'm going to directly talk to them," he said, still pouting. Taehyung just shook his head.
The two started to open more of the package's content, Jimin squealing happily when he saw another eyeshadow palette and brand new brushes, hugging them all to his chest before putting them down carefully, organizing them pile by pile.
When he thought he was finished, his eyes caught a smaller velvet box on the side and he picked it up, eyes widening when he realized that it was a ring box.
Taehyung whistles when Jimin opens the box, revealing a silver ring inside. Jimin absolutely loves rings. He gasped when he recognized the ring. It was the Juste un Clou from Cartier.
"What the fuck..." Jimin lets out after a few seconds of just staring at the ring.
He needs to find this anonymous gift sender of his because this is too much. Jimin doesn't even know them and hell, they're probably just a fan of his from Youtube. But this is a lot. It's thousands of dollars and he needs to contact this person now.
"... Oh, and one more thing! I've been meaning to ask this for a while now," Jimin started, interrupting his own outro for the video. "There's someone who's been sending me gifts lately and I wanted to thank that person so if you would please contact me directly, that'd be great!" he said, showing his smile before continuing to do his usual outro and then ending the video.
He has his day off today since it's the weekend so he decided to edit his video today, wanting this to be out as soon as possible.
Jimin didn't even notice the time as he was editing, often getting lost in his work. When he finally finished and successfully posted his video, Taehyung was already home after hanging out with boyfriends probably since he was humming so happily while taking his shoes off.
He was just lounging on their couch and he let out an 'oof' when Taehyung tackled him for a hug. "Hi, my favorite human!" Taehyung greeted loudly, smacking an obnoxious kiss on Jimin's cheek.
Jimin just rolled his eyes at Taehyung. "Yeah? Your favorite next to your boyfriends, you mean?" he teased.
Taehyung chuckled and he pinched Jimin's cheeks. "No. They're peasants."
"I'm going to tell that to them next time they come over to pick you up."
"That's okay. I remind them they're mere mortals next to you."
Jimin rolled his eyes again but he was smiling widely at his bestfriend's silliness. He was about to push Taehyung off when Taehyung suddenly pinched his side lightly, making him squawk. "Ow! What?!" he exclaimed, swatting Taehyung's hand away before trying to squirm out of Taehyung's hold.
"Have you eaten anything today? You're in the same position when I left four hours ago!" Taehyung says, looking at Jimin suspiciously.
Jimin froze then and that's when Taehyung started his long rant about health and food while dragging Jimin to the kitchen.
Jimin just nodded and hummed whenever appropriate as Taehyung rambled on about, what is he even saying now , when he remembered something. "Oh, Tae, I decided to address the gift sender in my recent video and said that they should definitely contact me," he says, putting his cheek on his palm.
Taehyung then turned to face him and raised his brow. "What makes you think they're the only one who's going to try to contact you?"
And with that, Jimin was once again, pouting. "Oh..."
"Yeah, oh. That'd be pretty hard since you won't know who's telling the truth."
Well, Jimin thinks. So much for trying to find you.
Namjoon was smiling fondly at his phone when he felt a smack on his shoulder. "Will you please listen to me?"
Namjoon looks up at Yoongi and he closes his phone sheepishly. "Sorry, hyung. You were saying?"
Yoongi glared at him for a second longer before going back to explaining. "I'm leaving for a week and you have to go to my class to drop these off," he continues, patting the thick binder. "They're labeled and everything. Just drop them off."
Namjoon just nodded at him distractedly, hand already itching to reach for his phone. Yoongi furrowed his brows at him. "Are you watching him again?" he asks, crossing his arms on his chest.
"Yeah."
Yoongi rolls his eyes. "Whipped. Disgusting. Just go message him already before I listen to you ranting about him again."
Namjoon just sighs at him. "I can't. He probably doesn't remember me and he'll just think I'm a creep."
"Well, with the way you talk about him at all times and send him expensive gifts like, you know, a ring, you'd definitely be on his nice list," Yoongi says, voice laced with sarcasm.
Namjoon pouts at him. "Don't be mean, hyung."
Yoongi just tuts at him before turning to leave him. "I gotta pack. Enjoy drooling over your phone." Namjoon just pushes his glasses up his nose and then continues to watch Jimin's latest video, staring at his lips with a smile. When he started to put on the lip gloss that he bought for him, he saw the ring that he also bought and it brought a fluttery feeling in his chest.
He misses Jimin so much and he's so, so, whipped, just as Yoongi says. And seeing him use the stuff that he gave him brings him satisfaction. Knows that Jimin is living his dream and he also feels good that he has kept his promise even if Jimin forgot about it.
Namjoon just continues to watch him, smile turning a little sad because Jimin is so close yet so far out of reach. All of that changes when Jimin interrupts his own outro and Namjoon's eyes widened as he listens to Jimin's words.
He quickly got up when he was finished, immediately seeking Yoongi for help.
Namjoon is in a state of a gay panic, Yoongi's voice supplies him.
