Living with so many brothers and having to deal with the constant yelling and nonsense usually would make everyone else annoyed and tired of them. But for Karamatsu, this was his daily life, seeing this fold out everyday and becoming used to it. The same as always.
Karamatsu, even being part of sextuplets, he was different from all of them. Actually, all of them are different, none of them are the same. But they are still his brothers, the family he loves. Even if it seems like they don't care nor love him back, he would do anything for them, why wouldn't he? He's their loving brother, who would never abandon them. But they would never do the same.
In the living room of the Matsu's home, laid Karamatsu on the old green couch that sits in their shared bedroom. Laying down in a fetal position away from the shoji, he has his earbuds in, blasting music to drown out all the thought's that are going through his head at the moment. He hasn't been himself lately, he doesn't wake up early anymore, constantly sleeping throughout the day without going out. His sparkly attire, his signature look, just sitting away in the closet untouched. He barely will even eat breakfast, just excusing himself and going to sit on the roof all alone, confusing his five other brothers.
Everyday is just a bad day.
With his music playing and his back turned, he doesn't even notice his younger brother Jyushimatsu slam the door open, chanting, "Muscle Muscle! Hustle Hustle!" while swinging his baseball bat around. Jyushimatsu stopped his everyday chant and realized his brother Karamatsu was laying down on the couch, wondering why he was at the house alone.
"Nii-san?" Jyushimatsu asked. Karamatsu was still not responding, just laying there on the couch, slowly breathing.
"Karamatsu Nii-san, are you okay?" Jyushimatsu poked at Karamatsu's side causing him to jolt and turn around with a startled expression but slowly turning into a smile when he realized it was just his brother. Taking out his earbuds, he sat up and patted the spot next to him, wanting Jyushimatsu to sit next to him.
"Ah, Jyushimatsu, how was your day? Today's weather was a great opportunity to play baseball I bet!" Karamatsu said, giving off his usual smile, but slightly showing a bit of hesitation in it. Jyushimatsu stared at his brother's face, and started to frown. He could tell something was off with him, lately he hasn't been the same and he has been worrying about him, he want's his brother to feel better, he doesn't like his Nii-san hurting.
"Are you okay Nii-san? You seem sad, you haven't been going out like usual or wanting to eat. You can tell me what's wrong, I don't want you to feel sad!" exclaimed Jyushimatsu, he threw up his arms while Karamatsu looked at him and sadly smiled.
"Of course I'm okay brother! What would ever make you think I'm not?" He tried to give him his best signature smirk but his brother wasn't buying it. Jyushimatsu looked at him and grabbed him by the arm, he pulled him closer and hugged him tightly.
"You know Nii-san, it's okay to feel upset or sad but I want to be here to help you, please tell me what's wrong" He pulled him closer to him. Karamatsu went stiff but then slowly started to relax, he gripped onto Jyushimatsu's shoulder and put his head in his chest. Trying not to cry, he decided to tell Jyushimatsu everything, he felt safe in his little brother's arms.
He slowly breathed in and started to speak, "I'm sorry. Everything has just been eating at me, I can't get up anymore without feeling empty. I don't feel up to anything, and I just want to leave and not come back. I feel like you all don't care about me, all I'm called is painful, shittymatsu and I get ignored. I get told by Ichimatsu I should just go die, and sometimes I feel like I should. I'm just a burden to all of you and I can't take it anymore. You deserve a better brother than me." Clinging onto Jyushimatsu's shirt, he began to cry. He couldn't hold it in anymore, he started to sob and shake.
Jyushimatsu sat there and felt awful. Did Karamatsu really feel this way? Why hadn't he done anything or try to be there more for his brother? He stared at Karamatsu and pulled him into his lap, clinging onto him and trying to pull him as close as he can. Karamatsu couldn't stop crying and was shaking in his brother's arms, feeling like a young child for showing this type of display.
Holding Karamatsu in his lap, he spoke after a bit of silence and the cries of his brother. "We all love you Nii-san! We might not show it, and we might call you names and mess with you but we all care about you! Ichimatsu Nii-san cares and loves you too, he just acts that way because he doesn't know how to express his feelings right. I shouldn't have joined in on the teasing and should have been there for you, knowing our words could hurt you. I'm sorry Nii-san, I won't ever leave you alone ever again and I will always be there for you! I love you Karamatsu!" He smiled at his brother, hoping he would accept his apology and never leave them.
Karamatsu slowly started to stop crying, he wiped his tears on his hoodie and stared at his brother, he felt loved and cared for. He smiled brightly at Jyushimatsu and whispered, "I love you too my buraza". Jyushimatsu jumped up with Karamatsu in his lap and spun him around, laughing and smiling at him, he set down Karamatsu and looked at him and then said, "I'm glad Nii-san! I will always be there for you and want to see you smiling! Now let's go out and get some sun, you're starting to look like a vampire!" he laughed and ran out the door leaving Karamatsu to stand there and think.
He was glad to have such a caring and sweet brother, knowing he has someone to be there in his time of need makes him happier to be alive. Walking to the front door and putting on his shoes, he looked at Jyushimatsu and saw that big smile that always made him happy to see him.
Having a sweet little brother like him would make anyone's life better.
