Summary:

Prompt: “Person A and B are at home together, and there’s a power outage.”

or

fern wanted an excuse to write a/b/o and this has honestly little to do with a power outage... i’m sorry

Notes:

hi, yes, uh...

i wanted to do something different, so i changed my prompt idea literally the day before it was due... that’s why it’s late getting uploaded... (but also who’s surprised, okay?? yall know me by now)

i’m honestly not super happy with this, but it was fun. i acknowledge it’s not my best work, but i still hope you like it!!

EDIT: Someone reminded me that, like with all a/b/o, there should be a dubcon tag, which I truthfully meant to add to begin with. I almost didn’t even tag heats/mating cycles, okay. Hahah. Anyways, sorry about that.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

From the first moment Eddie laid eyes on Buck, he knew the man was going to be nothing but a pain in his ass.

There were several things about Evan Buckley that led Eddie down a rabbit hole of frustration and dejection and overall surliness. It wasn’t really Buck, he supposed. It was more like the culmination of dumb, dumb decisions he made and conclusions he liked to jump to that made Eddie want to karate kick himself in the privates. He’d convinced himself after the very first time they met when Buck was still pretending (not very well) to be an Alpha that courting the Omega would be more painful somehow.

That thought alone should’ve stopped him. It would have stopped literally anyone else, but Eddie couldn’t give him up. It felt like something powerful and threatening was trying to claw its way out of his stomach whenever he stayed away from he man for too long. Buck brought every Alpha instinct Eddie had kept buried to the forefront. It bubbled under his skin, burned and twisted until he acknowledged his primal urges, until he gave into the part of him that wanted Buck so badly.

It was hard to say when Eddie first fell for Buck. Actually, it wasn’t all that hard. Eddie knew the exact moment because he replayed it in his head anytime he was feeling overwhelmed or sad. Yeah, okay, and sometimes when he’s horny. Sue him.

The scene played out in his head like every other time, like a reel in a movie theatre, crackling and slowly forming a picture in his head. It was his scent. Honestly the memory playing out in front of him had little to do with Buck’s lasting impression as sick as that sounds. It was his scent that first lured Eddie into his trap. A subtle smell that Buck had clearly tried to disguise and bury under a thick coating of lotion or cologne, but Eddie could smell him underneath it all. He smelled like salt before a shot of tequila, like a strawberry milkshake on a hot summer day, like sweet and salty. Buck’s scent reminded Eddie of several of his favorite food combinations. Pretzels and peanut butter. Ice cream and french fries. Caramel and cheese popcorn. Buck’s scent made him hungry, made the Alpha that’d been lying dormant for so long bolt onto his feet and stiffen as he inhaled more and more of that sweetness.

Eddie was almost one hundred percent sure that Buck noticed him noticing the Omega if the way Buck’s hulking body seemed to shrink in on itself, half turning away as his eyes widened slightly. He held himself in a way that made it clear to Eddie that then man didn’t trust Alphas, that it wasn’t so much Eddie he didn’t like, which somehow made him feel worse about the whole sniffing fiasco—also the endless playback that felt oddly like he was violating Buck just by remembering that first cocky face he’d made and that damn enchanting scent. He didn’t tell Buck outright that he knew the man was an Omega. It didn’t matter. It shouldn’t have mattered because Eddie wasn’t looking for a mate. He wasn’t looking to court anyone at the moment no matter how good they smelled.

But it didn’t quite matter that Eddie wasn’t looking, and he seemed to realize over the course of the past couple years that love finds you when you’re least expecting it. It sneaks up on you when your back is turned and gives you a swift kick to the throat before convincing your body that you literally cannot live without this other person. (Dramatic but that was how it felt, okay.)

Eddie lived in denial for a long time. He forced himself to ignore the way his gut tightened every time Buck looked at him, and he forced himself to stop thinking about the first time they met over and over again. He ignored the way his instincts made him want to protect Buck like he was the most fragile, priceless thing he’d ever seen. He felt possessive, red-hot and blazing, at the sight of Buck casually talking with the crew. Literally, every instinct he’d pushed down to the point it made him sick came back, rearing its head like a crazy person.

Denial didn’t last long. After those long couple of weeks (that’s right, he only made it two weeks) fighting part of himself, he just accepted it as divine intervention or some shit. Eddie took it for what it was and basked in the rightness of out all. He inhaled the scent he’d come to love slowly. At his acceptance, a weight lifted from his shoulders, and suddenly he could breathe easier. Like now that Eddie knew he didn’t need to treat each sniff like it’s his last he could live in the moment, slow down.

Then the courting started. Officially.

In all honesty, Eddie was a little embarrassed about this part looking back. His big, dumb Alpha brain was just telling him to claimholdfuckmate his omega as soon as possible. This led to several plates of semi-burnt brownies and a few trays of poorly frosted cupcakes. Eddie had given them to Buck casually, tips of his ears bright red as he watched Buck blink, completely bewildered, at the treats. Eddie felt a thrill race down his spine, practically purring when Buck’s cheeks heated as he ate the sweets right then. It was such a cliché thing to feel so proud of. That the Omega he was courting enjoyed his incredibly mediocre sweets.

Then there was the time that Buck was frustrated during his shift once, slamming his things around and huffing frustratedly into his locker. Eddie hadn’t even had a moment to ask what was wrong because Buck was stomping out of the room muttering something about “stupid floss…stupid Buck forgot to pack the stupid floss” which only left Eddie feeling even more confused and concerned than before. Three seconds later, his Alpha instincts roared its enormous head, and Eddie was suddenly buying fifteen packs of dental floss, spilling them out of the bag and onto the table in front of Buck with a look of determination and hope. But then Buck’s wide eyes were flitting between his and the floss all around him, bemused. He’d raised a brow, asking a question Eddie really didn’t want to answer yet, so naturally he pretended to hear some imaginary person calling him downstairs.

Eddie also made it a point to bring Buck his coffee every time they had a morning shift. He enjoyed the way Buck’s tired eyes lit up at the sight of his sugary beverage. Eddie liked to pretend that sometimes Buck was happy to see him instead, but he tried not to think that too often considering it made him want to alternate between tossing furniture around his home and rocking back and forth in a dark corner.

For all that Eddie managed to do for Buck in order to court him, he still couldn’t get Buck to pay any attention to him in more than a friendly way. He brushed off every advance, and the worst part about all of it was the polite rejection. The worst part was that Buck didn’t just say “No, thanks. I’m not interested in you being my Alpha” because that would be too easy. Instead, Buck left Eddie feeling slightly confused as to whether he’s being dismissed or somehow encouraged. It takes talent to both encourage and completely discourage a man in the same breath.

Encouraged by the bright blush on Buck’s cheeks when Eddie did something nice for him or gave him a gift. Discouraged by the way Buck’s eyes darted around self-consciously like he hoped no one was around to witness him being courted. Encouraged by the sweet, shy smile and duck of his head as he thanked Eddie. Discouraged by the way he would sprint away from him almost immediately. Also discouraged by the way his scent soured slightly as he ran away, anxiety and worry permeating the air around them. Eddie always frowned at that. He didn’t like being the cause of Buck’s scent going from light and sweet to bitter and dull.

So Eddie was confused…

He decided to go to the one person he thought might have answers for his dilemma.

He opened the door, sticking his head in slightly to see the man’s face, and said, “Hey, Bobby, you got a minute?”

——

Evan Buckley felt like he was going crazy.

No, seriously, he wasn’t being a dramatic Omega. Okay, maybe he was being a tad bit dramatic, but it didn’t mean his feelings were invalid. He’d actually worked really hard over the years to feel comfortable in his body and mind; in the fact that despite how much he wanted to be an Alpha, he wasn’t and never would be. It was a hard pill to swallow once upon a time, and occasionally it still hurt going down. But it was different in the sense that Buck understood (thanks to a special orientation therapist) that there was absolutely nothing wrong with being an Omega. He wasn’t weak or needy because of his natural orientation.

Come on, look at him. He was a firefighter. An Omega firefighter! He was paving the way for future generations of Omegas all around the world (okay, he didn’t really think that, but his therapist told him he was).

The problem was more to do with a certain Alpha that he couldn’t get a read on.

Eddie Diaz was the first Alpha to send Buck into a spiral of longing and need and shame all at the same time. He held himself confidently, head held high, shoulders squared, a small grin on his face as he greeted the team. He could see the exact moment Eddie realized Buck was an Omega instead of an Alpha like he looked. Eddie’s eyes narrowed slightly, staring at him for a few seconds longer than everyone else. It was disconcerting to say the least, but not as unsettling as Eddie’s own scent was for him. Buck managed to stop himself from openly sniffing the air surrounding the man until he was walking toward the locker room with Bobby.

When Buck subtly inhaled behind Eddie’s back, his eyes fluttered shut, mouth parting like the scent was palpable, like he could taste the Alpha’s scent on his tongue.

Then he promptly went into a triggered-heat.

It was the most embarrassing moment in his life. Three days of slick and emptiness and whining and calling out for an Alpha that wasn’t coming. His inner Omega was practically begging him to call his new team member, and the only reason he managed to refrain was because his dear sister, Maddie, came over to take care of. That apparently entailed her taking his phone away from him and waiting his heat out downstairs.

Which only added to his embarrassment.

Anyways, Buck powered through it. He powered through his immense, undying attraction to the Alpha, opting to just pretend the man didn’t exist or irritated him to no end. Unfortunately, Eddie was a friendly Alpha, and he went out of his way to make sure Buck knew they were just friends. He brought him brownies and cute little cupcakes in apology for his rejection despite having to work together. He even bought him gifts. That was how bad he felt about sending Buck into a heat spiral upon first meeting. He bought him food, socks, and hell, even floss once! Each time Buck received another gift from the Alpha, the Omega in him perked up, hopeful and eager, and each time Buck had to squish it down, remember this was because he was too obvious in his attraction to Eddie, and run away like a coward.

Buck struggled keeping his distance from Eddie as a result. He couldn’t get the rejection to really sink in since Eddie just kept on funneling gifts and niceties at him. He wasn’t confused. Buck took it for what it was, but his body, his inner Omega, refused to lose hope. He latched into Eddie’s scent in times of distress, used it to anchor him in the field. He had to stop himself from courting Eddie, bringing him food and massaging his shoulders, when he smelled Eddie’s scent sour.

He wanted his scent to stay happy, like sandalwood and cinnamon, smooth like honey. He liked happy Eddie. When Eddie was worried or upset, his scent dulled significantly, weighed down by the scent of charcoal. But when Eddie was angry, oh, boy… His scent somehow became red-hot, palpable and frightening. It was metal and gunpowder, meant to be as scary as possible. If Buck ever came across an angry Eddie, he turned around, ran away; because, all his Omega wanted to do was strip right then and there and present for his Alpha to use him as he needed to feel better. It wasn’t something Buck had seen, or something he’d been taught Omegas needed to do for their Alphas, but something his body just instinctually wanted to do for Eddie.

Going against that part of himself was clawing and tearing at his skin, though.

Everything came to a head at the worst possible time if Buck’s honest. Not that he realized it wasn’t a great time. (Hello, foreshadowing, fancy seeing you here.)

Buck woke up Saturday morning with a dull ache between his eyes and an incessant need to scrub his coffee pot inside and out. At first, he figured the ache he felt and the chill sweeping over his skin was a clear sign of the flu. He dressed in thick sweatpants and a long sleeve, pulling the sleeve down over his hands. His first course of action was checking his temperature, which, as he suspected, was 101.6 and too high for him to even consider going into his shift that afternoon.

So he called Bobby, got everything sorted out for the afternoon, then he called his doctor, who couldn’t see him in the office that day and also wouldn’t write him some kind of prescription to ease his flu-like symptoms either. When Buck ended the call, he cried. Hysterical sobbing that made no sense, and honestly that should’ve been his biggest clue that he didn’t have the flu.

(Once again, he’d like to reiterate that he can obtuse sometimes. Carry on.)

 ——

Someone was knocking.

Buck jolted awake, his skin hot and clammy under his thick layers of clothing. He pulled the sweaty hoodie he’d thrown on before his nap away from his body with a grimace. Gross . He felt disgusting and just moist underneath his two shirts, hoodie, sweatpants, and wool blanket, which is a change from how he felt before he laid down, which meant, thankfully, his fever must’ve broken during his nap.

Why couldn’t he see anything? Where was the freaking lamp again?

The banging started again, loud and incessant against his door, and Buck groaned as he practically slithered off the couch and onto his knees on the floor, body aching and feeling like jelly at the same time.

“‘m comin’,” Buck groused, pulling himself to a standing position thanks to the couch and coffee table being pushed so close together.

But he wasn’t. He collapsed back onto the couch, trying to pull his hoodie and shirts off as best he could, but his arms just got stuck and tangled above his head in a mess of sweat-soaked fabric. He whined pitifully in the back of his throat, tears springing to his eyes as he pulled at his clothes again.

In the background, he heard his front door open and heavy footfalls sound throughout the apartment. Definitely not Maddie. She walked like some kind of fairy or something. He never heard her when she traipsed around the apartment. So either he was about to be murdered, or it was somebody else coming to check on him.

“Buck?”

Buck’s head shot up, eyes opening despite being hidden behind the fabric of his hoodie and shirts. He inhaled through his stopped up nose, and there it was… Vague and barely there through three layers of clothes and snot. Alpha. The Alpha. His Alpha.

Buck whined, his throat working, “Alpha.”

His Alpha growled, primal and possessive, and Buck’s entire body went boneless in response. It was electrifying and dizzying the way he melted back into the couch before yanking at his clothes again because the last thing he wanted was the inability to touch his Alpha.

Strong hands jerked the fabric over Buck’s head, freeing the Omega from his confines, and Buck immediately fell into Eddie, rubbing his face along his lower belly and hips as he inhaled as much of his rich scent as possible. It was different right then. Rich but just as heady. It was like chocolate and toffee, surprisingly sweet for an Alpha. Instinctively, Buck licked and nipped at the man through his shirt, a thrill racing down his spine when his Alpha groaned helplessly.

Yes, Buck thought, this is what I need. Finally, I get to make my Alpha feel good.

Only Eddie was pushing him away with firm hands on his shoulders, and Buck whined until he realized his Alpha probably wanted to mount him. Of course. That was what Alphas wanted, right? Damn, Buck should’ve read a book about mating and bonding and, he blushed a little as he turned over to face the couch, knotting. He’d never been knotted before. It always felt a little too intimate to just knot with any old Alpha.

He spread his body out on the couch then tucked his knees underneath him and arched his back.

“Holy shit…” Eddie breathed, his voice sounding too far away.

Buck frowned, looking back over his shoulder at where Eddie was backing away from Buck with wide eyes glued to his ass. Why wasn’t he touching him? He was presenting correctly, right? Also, why was it so dark? When did he turn all the lights off?

Oh, pants. He clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth suddenly then shimmied his sweatpants down his legs. He felt his slick coating the inside of his thighs, and that was when he realized that he hadn’t been sweating, really. The burning he’d felt in the pit of his belly when he’d first woken up, the headache he’d been sorting for a couple of days, the inability to stop nesting...

He was in heat.

“Alpha, please!”

“Buck, this isn’t… You have to stop calling me—or I’m, I’m…”

Buck frowned, sitting up with his pants still around his ankles. He turned around to face Eddie, noting the way his Alpha seemed to be moving farther and farther away from him. Buck inhaled again, jolting back when he realized Eddie’s scent was soured and bitter. He wasn’t enjoying Buck or heat riddled body. He didn’t want to be here.

Buck gasped, “Oh, my god… I’m sorry. I-I don’t know what’s wrong with me.”

Buck scrambled to pull his pants back up his legs then yanked his hoodie off the floor to pull on. His heart was racing, jumping into overdrive.

He turned away from Eddie, a moment of clarity breaking through the fog in his heat-raddled brain. He was so stupid. All this time, Buck knew Eddie was trying his best to politely reject him after that first stupid meeting of theirs. And honestly, Buck understood why Eddie wasn’t interested. Obviously, he had no idea how to properly present and seduce a mate. Buck would need to read a few books and maybe watch a couple of videos before he felt well versed in that area. There was also the little tidbit where Buck’s house was a mess. He surveyed the small portion of the living room he could see then nodded his head.

A mess. Evan Buckley was a mess.

“Buck…”

Buck spun around, sniffling. He wiped at his face quickly when he realized he was crying. “I…I need to clean this first. I promise I can do better. Just…hold on.”

“Buck…” Eddie started, but he didn’t finish.

Buck dashed around him to grab two throw pillows from the floor that he must’ve clicked off earlier, and he just barely managed to stop himself from burying his nose in Eddie’s neck. Buck fluffed the pillows until they looked like something out of a Better Homes and Gardens magazine then folded his blanket and draped it over the back of the couch. He squinted, an annoyed sound escaping him as he flipped one of the lamps on.

Or, he tried to switch a lamp on.

“The power is out, Buck,” Eddie told him softly. “Your block is on the schedule tonight.”

Buck breathed out in exasperation, scratching as his belly and chest, “Black outs. Of course.”

Eddie sighed, “Let me help you get settled, okay? I brought soup and some medicine.”

“Medicine?” Buck questioned as he followed dutifully behind Eddie into the dark kitchen, eyes downcast.

“Yeah, Bobby said you were sick… I guess he didn’t know you meant this .”

Buck frowned. Eddie was bringing him soup and medicine. But why? Buck squared his shoulders as best he could then opened his mouth to ask, but he stopped when he noticed a small streak of coffee on the pot that he must’ve missed.

Buck held up his hand, moving around Eddie to grab the pot before practically throwing it in the sink, “I just need to clean this… Just—one more second…”

“Buck, stop. It’s okay.”

“No!” Buck yelled, scrubbing at the coffee pot with the water on full blast. “I have to make sure everything is clean. Alphas don’t want dirty Omegas.”

It was strange.

Buck was hunched over his kitchen sink scrubbing a coffee pot like he was trying to make it disappear while crying because he was sure no Alpha, let alone Eddie, would want him because he couldn’t keep the stupid coffee pot clean! But also, he could feel slick pouring from his hole, coating the insides of his thighs just from the Alpha’s presence alone. His entire body was thrumming with white-hot need, skin stretched too tight, mind fogging more and more by the minute.

A heavy hand fell onto Buck’s shoulder, and he groaned under his breath at the warmth he could feel through his hoodie. Eddie used his grip on him to turn him around, grasping his chin between his thumb and index finger to tilt his face toward Eddie’s. The Alpha’s eyes were wide and wild, darkened by the smell of Buck’s heat quickly approaching full force. His chest was heaving, nostrils flaring, and as Buck stared back at him, hopeful and innocent, he could tell Eddie was trying to calm himself down.

“You’re going to hate me when your heat is over,” Eddie muttered more to himself than to Buck, really.

Buck shook his head vehemently, “Could never hate you, Eddie. Never… I—” Buck paused, his words feeling all jumbled, “I love you. I-I want you to be…”

“Buck, you…you don’t mean that.”

Eddie dropped his hand from the Omega’s shoulder, and Buck’s lip immediately began to quiver. This was it. This was the final rejection. Buck’s eyes darted around the room erratically, torn between wanting to flee the scene or beg for a chance.

“I-I can learn. To be better. I know…” Buck swallowed, not looking at Eddie, “I know I’m not a good Omega, but I-I can be. For you. I can learn. Please, Eddie.”

“Why have you been rejecting me all this time?” Eddie asked, and Buck flicked wide eyes over to the man. “I’ve been courting you for two years, and you’ve never…”

“Courting?!” Buck gasped, clearly taken aback because he was sure he’d remember if Eddie had been courting him. “Courting me?!”

Eddie shook his head, a small, fond smile on his face, “I bought you floss, Buck. I ran out to a store and bought a dozen things of floss. I made you brownies.”

Buck gaped at Eddie, his brain working double time to try to comprehend exactly what the man was trying to imply as his skin grew hot again. “But I thought…nice...no…triggered-heat.”

“Triggered heat?” Eddie arched a brow.

Buck licked his lips, swallowing as a gush of slick slid down his crack, racing down his thigh. He was sweating again, shirt clinging disgustingly to his skin, and he looked down to see his cock tenting his sweats. He thought he opened his mouth again, maybe said a few nonsense words before shuffling as best he could toward the stairs.

He inhaled slowly, a fresh wave of happy, rich Alpha scent hit him full force, and his knees buckled. Eddie stepped into his space, wrapping an arm around his waist to catch him before he shattered his kneecaps, and Buck buried his nose in Eddie’s neck, scenting the man. He dragged his nose over the smooth, tan skin, inhaling as much of his Alpha’s scent as possible. He was vaguely aware of Eddie dragging him further into the apartment, and Buck felt Eddie stumble a little.

“Shit,” the Alpha grumbled, “this would be easier if the power wasn’t out, and I could freakin’ see where I was going.”

And Buck? Buck giggled and clung desperately to Eddie, like he was afraid the Alpha would drop him and run away. The closer he pressed into Eddie’s body the more relief he felt, his skin didn’t itch as much, his mind didn’t feel as fogged. Before he could stop himself, he rolled his hips against Eddie’s thigh once…then twice then a third time until suddenly he was dry-humping Eddie while the Alpha stood frozen.

“Please, please…” Buck begged, the close proximity no longer helping his heat symptoms. He needed more, and he needed it now. “Please, Alpha. Want you so bad.”

Eddie seemed to be frozen still, so Buck pried his eyes open, searching for Eddie’s face. When his vision cleared, he gasped at the way Eddie’s gaze had darkened, his teeth biting into his lips so hard Buck was pretty sure he saw a little blood. Buck thrust his hips faster against Eddie’s thigh, unable to stop himself. He needed some kind of relief. His blood was boiling, face heating as his heart beat erratically.

“Please, please, please.”

Eddie growled, turning them around and marching them back to the kitchen. Buck yelped, feet dragging along the floor as Eddie practically carried him across the room. It was hot. Too hot. His hips kept humping like a teenage boy who’d just discovered masturbation, catching air half the time until his back thumped against the counter.

“Turn around.”

“Yeah, yes,” Buck breathed, turning quickly and bending over the counter, presenting as best he could while Eddie yanked his pants to the floor.

As soon as he was bared, Buck expected Eddie to just take him apart because that was exactly what he wanted. Instead, nothing happened. There were no hands on him. No mouth on him. No hard cock pushing inside him. He felt unbelievably empty. He squirmed uncomfortably, backing up toward where he hoped Eddie was still crouched behind him.

“You need to be sure, Buck. I know… I know you’re in heat, and it’s hard to focus, but if I do this, I won’t be able to stop. I’ve wanted you for so long.”

“Please, yes, please, Eddie.”

Eddie growled, hand smacking against the counter beside Buck’s tense arm. “You’re sure? I feel… I’m taking advantage. I know I am.”

Buck whimpered, eyes tearing up again, and he squirmed back once more, like he thought he might catch his hole on Eddie’s tongue or something. “Yes, please. Be mine. Alpha. Always, please. Fuck me, Alpha.”

That did it.

Within a few seconds, Eddie’s hot, rough hands were grabbing at his ass roughly, kneading the flesh for a moment before spreading his cheeks, baring Buck completely to his view. Buck jerked at the first swipe of Eddie’s tongue against his wet, swollen hole, slick squirting from him at the feel of his Alpha’s mouth finally on him.

If Buck was able to think a little more coherently during the whole licking-his-asshole thing, he would’ve participated a little more. Or maybe waxed poetic about finally gaining Eddie’s attention even though it kind of sucked that it took heat pheromones to get him here. Buck didn’t really want to think about that part of it if he was honest. Thinking about that led to assumptions, which led to thinking other things... He didn’t want to think about Eddie leaving, tossing him aside after he’d fucked and knotted him through his heat.

Instead, Buck arched his hips back against Eddie’s face, moaning as he tried, and failed, to bury his face against the hard countertop, fingers flexing and digging into the marble. Eddie’s grip on him tightened, spreading him further as he lapped at him eagerly, strokes alternating between thirsty, long licks and penetrating, hungry jabs. Both were effective in their efforts, and before Buck really knew what was happening, he was coming all over the side of the counter, screaming Eddie’s name as his legs shook violently. The Alpha licked at his hole and nipped at his ass through it all, humming appreciatively as slick gushed out of him.

Buck’s legs felt weak, and he was slipping from the counter towards the floor almost immediately. He thought it was his legs turning to literal jelly for a moment before realizing Eddie was guiding him down to lay on the floor, which would’ve been gross if he hadn’t cleaned them in a fit of nesting-rage just yesterday. (Everything was starting to make sense.)

“God, you’re so beautiful, Buck,” Eddie muttered, letting Buck lie motionless on the cool floor for a moment. “Mine. My Omega.”

And then Eddie dipped his head and kissed Buck right on the lips. (He wouldn’t have kissed him if he didn’t really like him, right?)

It was glorious. His Alpha tasted like he smelled, chocolate and toffee, rich and smoky and sweet. He kissed Buck like he was dying for it, and maybe he was. Maybe he was itching to get closer, to get more, just like Buck was at the moment. He wanted to crawl out of his skin, snuggle in closer to Eddie and wrap himself around him and never leave. Buck kissed his Alpha sloppily, distracted and moaning wantonly, hips thrusting against Eddie’s jerkily.

When his skin felt too hot, and his hole felt unbearably empty, he whined, pouting against Eddie’s lips. “Please. Need your knot, Alpha.”

“Fuck,” Eddie chuckled breathlessly, pulling back to jerk his shirt over his head, and Buck took the opportunity to gaze at him longingly for a moment, enjoying the way the little bit of moonlight streaming in cast shadows along his body, before yanking his own hoodie off awkwardly.

He flipped over, rolling onto his belly then hissing at the cool flooring against his skin before pulling his knees underneath his body just like he had in the living room. He hesitated then, suddenly unsure of himself. He barely managed to handle that rejection. Actually, he wasn’t sure if he handled it at all really. He cried and ran off to clean the coffee p—

“Coffee pot!” Buck gasped, rising to his hands and knees.

“No.”

Buck whined, “But…I promised I’d do better. I-I can wait. I should clean up my mess.”

A sharp, heavy slap landed on Buck’s ass, and he yelped and moaned at the same time. He melped. Yeah. He melped, his head dropping to hang between his shoulders.

“Don’t do that.” Eddie smoothed a hand over Buck’s smarting cheek, caressing gently. “You’re perfect. Mine. Mine… My Omega.”

“Yours,” Buck whispered back, more just to be able to say it at least once before Eddie bolted later, and it made him needy, made him want, made his heat rear its ugly head and scream at him. His heat was yelling for release, his skin tightening, his limbs aching, his cock leaking, his hole clenching and unclenching around nothing. He whimpered, pushing back against Eddie’s crotch, rubbing against the denim still covering him, “Please, Eddie, please.”

“Mine,” Eddie growled, and Buck could vaguely hear him shucking his pants off before grabbing at Buck’s hips again. He didn’t push inside immediately like Buck wanted. He let his cock slip through his juices, coating his huge length slowly. Buck’s eyes rolled into the back of his head at the feeling of the tip of Eddie’s cock rubbing teasingly over his hole. “Mine, mine. Say it, Buck.”

“Mine…” Buck moaned then shook his head. “Wait, I—”

“Yours.” Eddie slid over Buck’s hole once more, and this time when the head of his cock caught on Buck’s sensitive, loosened entrance, he pushed gently, just barely enough to do anything more than keep him there. “I’m yours. All yours. Say you’re mine, Buck.”

“Oh, god,” Buck moaned, trying to push his hips back with enough force to impale himself on Eddie’s cock. “Yours. Always been yours, Eddie. Alpha. Please.”

“So good,” Eddie told him, rocking his hips forward in short, shallow thrusts until he pushed past Buck’s rim then he pulled back slightly, not enough to pull out completely, but enough for Buck to feel the burning sting from the tug on his hole. He thrust inside Buck in one long, steady stroke, balls hot and heavy against Buck’s ass. “Feel so good, Buck. Mine. My Omega.”

“Please…”

Eddie growled, rocking his hips slowly, “Let me take care of you.”

That sounded fantastic. So good. It sounded so great in fact that Buck dropped to his forearms, back arching as he rocked his own hips back in efforts to match Eddie’s slow-as-a-fucking-snail pace. It didn’t work. Eddie just tightened his grip on Buck’s hips, and Buck could already feel the finger shaped bruises forming there.

Slow and gentle didn’t last long, though. It seemed to be more of a warmup really. After a few solid, steady strokes, Eddie was speeding up gradually until his hips were pistoning like a freaking sex machine behind Buck, and he slumped helplessly against the floor, his chest dropping against the wood as he buried his head in his hands. He took all of it, basked in the rightness of it all, let his body hum and arch and scream and mewl like the sex kitten Eddie seemed to turn him into.

Eddie’s hands touched every part of Buck’s body, caressing his hot, sensitive skin until Buck felt overwhelmed. His mind didn’t know what to concentrate on. The rough slapping at his rear, or the gentle, overstimulating touches along his torso.

“Please, please… I’m so close. I need—”

“I know, baby, shh. I’ll take care of you.” Eddie snapped his hips. The only sound echoing in the dark room was the sound of flesh slapping flesh, and it was like music, their own little song they were making together. “You want my knot? Huh?”

Buck groaned, pushing back against Eddie then clenching around him when he couldn’t get enough leverage to lift himself. “Please, yes! Yes! Yes, yes, yes…”

As Buck chanted his assent, he felt that familiar tingling at the base of his spine build until it hurt. His vision blurred. His muscles tensed. His fingernails bit into his palms harshly. But he needed more. He needed…

Eddie curled over his back, hips thrusting wildly as his knot grew, catching on his rim over and over again, reminding Buck of Eddie’s gentle, teasing thrusts just…minutes— time didn’t exist at that moment —beforehand, and when he snapped his hips once, twice, then seated himself fully inside Buck, completely flush against him with a sharp jab of his hips, Buck screamed out, coming so hard his body shook, his back and knees ached and his toes curled. His entire body was tense, and his hole clenched tightly around Eddie with a vise grip.

It wasn’t until a few minutes— again, was time even real? —later when he started to come down from the high of his orgasm that he realized something was wrong. Well, he felt fine, totally intact, but Eddie was tense and frozen behind him.

“Are you…” Buck swallowed, “Is everything okay?”

Eddie inhaled, “I-I bit you.”

Immediately, Buck lifted a hand to his neck.

“Other side.”

And there it was, on the side of his neck, the ultimate mark of belonging, a mark Buck had only ever dreamed of wearing for Eddie. He smiled softly, shy despite the implications of the bite. He brushed his fingers over the indentation, prodding softly and wincing when he poked too hard on a particularly sensitive area. He hummed contentedly. Why did Eddie seem so tense? Was he worried Buck wouldn’t like it? Because that was just silly. He loved it. Or was it that Eddie regretted it? Maybe he hadn’t actually meant to bite him… Did he just get swept up in the moment of being with an Omega? He had said they were… Was it just—

“I’m sorry. I was just—I’ve wanted you for so long. I should’ve known I wouldn’t be able to stop myself.”

Buck licked his lips, brow furrowing. He tried to lift himself up again, but still couldn’t muster the strength needed, so he just laid out, eyes squeezed closed in fear. “So…you didn’t actually want to…bite me?”

“What? No, that’s not—Buck, I just knotted, bit and mated you without consent.”

“I told you to knot me.”

Eddie sighed, “Okay, then. I bit and mated you without your consent, Buck. That—I don’t take that lightly.”

Buck opened his eyes, trying to turn his head enough to look at Eddie, who was looking down at where their bodies were joined together. Buck smiled, longing to have Eddie like this forever, “I’m a little confused.”

“Consent shouldn’t be confusing.”

“No, I mean… I thought Alphas could smell when Omegas wanted to, uh… mate .”

Eddie flicked his eyes up to look at Buck, brow arching at him in disbelief. “We can smell arousal, Buck. Omegas can, too. Arousal is different from mating.”

Buck nodded in understanding then his cheeks began to heat as he clarified, “I thought you could smell it on me this whole time, and you were just trying to politely tell me you wanted to be…friends.”

“That…is the most absurd thing I’ve ever heard. You never been courted before or something, Buck?”

Embarrassment floods Buck, and he snapped, “No, actually. I have not .”

Eddie sighed again behind him, giving a little rock of his hips that had Buck moaning quietly. “I’ve wanted you for so long, Buck, but that doesn’t excuse… I’m sorry I bit and mated you without talking about it first. I—We can look into breaking the bond when your heat is over.”

“Oh.” Buck’s heart was racing, and he tried to roll his shoulders, but the angle was a little too awkward to manage. “I don’t want to. Break the bond, I mean. Unless you really want to, and you were just trying to make it easier then that’s fine… I mean, it isn’t fine. I’ll be devastated because I love you, but I’ll get over it. Maybe. I’ll try to get over—”

“I love you, too.”

“—it, but don’t be surprised if it takes me a minute, okay?” Buck breathed deeply then paused, looking back at Eddie, who took Buck’s stunned silence as an opportunity to maneuver them onto their sides on the floor. (They really should have moved…)

Eddie tucked Buck as close as possible to his chest, running his hands softly over Buck’s ribs and arms, studying him, learning him. It was intimate and beautiful. It gave Buck the hope he needed to ask Eddie to repeat what he’d just said.

“I said,” Eddie muttered, lips brushing along the damp skin along the back of Buck’s neck, “I love you, too.”

And that was when the lights flickered back on.
