Work Text:

"Happy Christmas!" Ginny's excited voice came from their bedroom window, out of which she was peering. Harry got out of bed, joining his wife. He put his arms around her waist, sleepily nuzzling into the crook of her neck. Harry loved her metaphorical, as well as literal warmth. She leaned back into him, sighing contentedly. "The warm seems so much more worth it now." She said.
"Definitely does. Happy Christmas." Harry agreed, pressing a kiss on her shoulder, revealed by the slipping dressing gown. She turned around and wrapped her arms around Harry's waist, pressing a kiss onto her husband's lips. Her own lips parted easily, making way for Harry's tongue. They kissed for a few minutes (or maybe forever) when she pulled back, slightly craning her neck to look at her husband.
His green eyes were lit up in adoration and his unruly hair made messier by sleeping stuck up in directions Ginny didn't even know existed. She ruffled it playfully, as Harry pressed his forehead onto hers. They pulled apart, but only after sharing another chaste kiss. "If we don't stop we won't get to open presents until tomorrow." Ginny sighed, pulling away from her husband who was currently in no mood to let her go, given by his lips which had found permanent residence at her shoulder. There was gonna be a bruise there by tomorrow.
"Okay fine." Harry acquiesced, removing Ginny from his cage of arms.

She walked away happily, swaying slightly as she went downstairs. Harry followed her, moving into the kitchen. Ginny sat down in her favourite maroon armchair, leaning back into the cushions. Harry bristled around in the kitchen, putting the kettle on. "Hot chocolate instead of tea, today?" He smiled. Ginny nodded. A good hot chocolate was always welcome.
Harry took out the instant stuff Ginny loved, simply pouring warm water over the mix, resulting in a delightfully sweet drink. He brought the cups over and handed one to Ginny, who thanked him with a squeeze to his hand. Harry made himself comfortable by Ginny's feet, resting close to her. The tree stood in front of them, wrapped presents staring at them from above the tree skirt.

"Should we start, then?" Harry asked. "It feels weird without everyone else." Ginny said, slightly sadly.
Their family, both real and extended, were all out on holiday someplace or the other. Ron and Hermione were with both sets of parents at a fancy ski resort in Switzerland, Ginny's brothers and their wives were all spread out across the country or holidaying in Egypt. Finally, Sirius and Remus were with Andromeda and Ted in France.
"It's okay, I love that it's just the two of us. I could not ask for anything more." Harry gently squeezed Ginny's foot from where he was sat on the floor. She smiled back, but the sadness didn't quite leave her eyes. Harry put their cups down and scooted closer to the presents.
"Oh, this one is from me. Happy Christmas again, love." Harry handed Ginny a present wrapped in gold paper, kissing the side of her head when she joined him on the floor.
---
Presents time was fun, even if it was just the two of them. Everyone had video-called soon after, yelling Christmas wishes. Ginny had cheered up considerably after calling everyone, and Harry could understand why. She was someone who had always celebrated the holidays with her big family, and not having them over even for a year was enough to make her sad. Harry had never had such a big family, but just bringing in a quiet Christmas with Sirius, and soon after with Remus, was something he cherished a lot. The rest of the morning flew by, and soon enough it was late afternoon. It was still snowing, and Harry was sat on the sofa reading when Ginny came into his vision.

"Get up, we have to make a snowman." She said, hands on hips. Harry looked up to see her all ready to go out- wearing a white jacket with pants and boots, complete with her waist length red hair tucked into a bun under her matching white hat. Her hands were covered in gloves, and glasses perched precariously on top of her hat. "Are you going to make a snowman or have a snowball fight?" He commented, putting the book down.
"Not just me, you are coming too. Come on, wear something appropriate." She said, pulling her husband up.
"Okay okay, give me a minute." Harry groaned and went off to change into his snow clothes.
---
"Come on, use some strength!' Ginny shouted as Harry tried to roll a ball of snow big enough to be the bottom of the snowman.
"I could use your help, you know!" He screamed back, trying but failing at his task. Ginny stomped over (because of the inches thick snow) and started to help Harry push the ball as it started forming an oddly shaped sphere.

It took them 20 more minutes to roll the same sphere, only because they were too busy throwing snow at each other in between, the snowman momentarily forgotten. The snow throwing would escalate into putting snow onto each other's face which would then phase into a warm session full of kisses. After they were done rolling the first sphere, they placed it in the center of their yard. "Two more to go!' Ginny announced triumphantly as Harry laughed in the background.

An hour later they finally had the two spheres set on top of the bottom sphere, and to both of their surprise, it was looking oddly like a snowman. "At least he has the skeleton. I'll get the carrot and buttons." Harry said, rushing inside, momentarily enjoying the warmth inside before grabbing the items and walking back outside.
Ginny placed the carrot right in between the two buttons which functioned as the snowman's eyes, snickering when she grabbed Harry's hat and placed it onto the snowman's head instead. "Oi," Harry said, but grinned nonetheless when Ginny placated him with a kiss to his nose.

"He does not look half bad, our Pigwidgeon." Ginny commented, and it looked to Harry as if she was barely suppressing a wolf whistle of sorts.
"Pigwidgeon? My snowman is NOT going to called something silly like that." Harry replied, earning a snowball from his wife.
"Silly? It's a perfectly normal name. Pig for short." Ginny smiled back.
"Hedwig is much better." He said, throwing a snowball back.
"Hedwig is Boring. With a capital B." Ginny frowned, retaliating with a snowball twice as big as Harry's previous one, hitting him square in the forehead.

"Oh no you don't." He smiled wickedly, walking towards her with a snowball probably the size of a football. Ginny squealed, backing away until her back hit a tree. She looked around before ducking swiftly as the snowball hit the trunk, where her face had been moments prior.
"Damn your reflexes!" Harry shouted as Ginny laughed, rolling her own football sized snowball and aiming straight for Harry, whose own reflexes were not half bad.
Their snowball fight somehow ended with Harry almost buried in the inches of snow with Ginny smothering the cold powder all over his face. He squirmed, laughing loudly before pushing Ginny off and reversing their positions. He started to tickle her, knowing very well where all her dangerous tickle points lay.
"Ah!" She said somewhere between and exclamation and laugh, tears streaming down her face. "Okay stop stop!" She almost yelled, helpless with laughter.

"Only when you accept Hedwig." Harry said, his wicked smile still on his face.
"Okay okay, Hedwig sounds good!" Ginny acquiesced, finally breathing as Harry got off and lay down next to her.
"You're not naming our children." She said, chest heaving loudly. Harry turned on his side to look at Ginny.
"Oh, so you can name them something ridiculous like Higglyrun?" He laughed. Ginny just took her tongue out at him, entwining her hands with his in between them.

They lay there until the sun, dimmed by grey clouds, fell a bit lower, bringing with it another slight sprinkling of snow.
