“Hey Loid, can you get Yor set up with the Thorn Princess makeup?” Dominic brought a young woman over.
She bowed her head slightly, “It’s nice to meet and work with you, please treat me well.” Yor Briar. He remembered her—he was curious what makeup she was wearing at the first meet and greet, then realized she wasn’t wearing any at all.
It was a shame—it was probably annoying to have to wear makeup under the bright lights and be a stunt double on top of that. She didn’t need makeup if not for the fact that she needed it to look enough like the main actress.
And probably the fake blood later, but since it wasn’t her own blood (real or fictional), she didn’t need anything fancy from him.
“Um, Loid, what are all these bottles for? Do I need all these?” He’d seen many reactions over his career, ranging from awe to scorn to curiosity, but Yor seemed genuinely lost and slightly intimidated by the array on the counter.
He smiled reassuringly at her in the mirror. “I’ll explain as I go. First, can you wash your face? Do you use sunscreen or have anything on already?” He had to keep his smile in check as she meekly shook her head no. One of the other makeup artists, Sylvia, always made fun of him for interrogating the crew about their skincare habits.
All in all, Yor was pleasant to work with. She hardly complained, was very patient and cooperative, and he learned a bit about her life and personality as well. She had a younger brother and was a stunt double because she didn’t think she had the stage presence to be an actress (and she could use a confidence boost. And a better skincare routine).
With that in mind, he hung around to see what she was like on the job. Surely she probably got ‘in the zone,’ as self-doubt wasn’t the safest mindset to have when jumping around the set.
To liken it to method acting would be an understatement—watching her ‘slaughter’ an entire room of people in under a minute was like looking at a completely different person. And she did it in a dress and stiletto heels.
Good thing he didn’t aggressively try to fix her skincare routine.
