Work Text:
Sebastian Lang was always told he was weird. He didn’t follow the trends like others did. When everyone else his age was going out and partying, he was researching the paranormal. Whilst others dyed their hair various pastel shades, he kept his hair navy blue. When people slept, he wandered around abandoned buildings or went to graveyards.
He wasn’t obsessed with the paranormal. Not as much as others online were anyway. It just seemed to find him. The first house he’d lived in was a hotbed for activity as was the building he slept in at college. Now, this house was too.
His housemates were probably the cause. Always provoking and summoning, accidentally opening portals and not knowing how to close them. It was their fault the house was like this. It was also their fault that Sebastian had to keep researching the paranormal. He knew how to keep himself safe. That was obvious. Don’t invoke, provoke or summon. Be firm with the entity, don’t allow them to attach or follow you.
Maybe it was just Sebastian’s common sense. Who knew. His room-mates lacked this common sense. Though Sebastian wasn’t a witch or medium, he could sense things. Maybe that’s why the paranormal liked him. He knew there were things attached to each of his room-mates.
That’s what lead him to one of the biggest mistakes, or happy accidents, of his life.
He was trying to find a way to disperse the beings attached to the others who lived in the house and the house itself. It lead the blue-haired man down a dark rabbit hole on the internet and kept him up until the late hours. Luckily the following day was Saturday and he had no plans. Except maybe getting rid of a few items his room-mates never should have had.
It was reaching three in the morning when he stumbled across a site primarily in Latin. This should’ve sparked a red flag but the young man was exhausted. He knew he probably shouldn’t read it aloud, horror movies normally paired Latin with the paranormal so it was common sense. But at three in the morning on a Saturday following a week of no sleep due to activity in the house, Sebastian’s common sense went out the window. Sebastian wondered whether he should follow it.
Anyway, a bad decision on Sebastian’s part lead to him reading part of the site aloud in very butchered Latin.
“Wow, someone needs lessons. How’d you manage to be that bad at saying the summoning?” A voice teased from behind him.
Maybe if he’d been able to sleep the entire week, he would’ve jumped. He was alone in the house because his housemates had gone on a road-trip. From which they’d probably return from with fresh entities attached to them.
He turned to face the speaker. Slouched on his bed was a young Korean man with deep red hair. He was dressed in a white shirt with writing on it, a black tie and a black leather jacket. He also wore black ripped jeans and converse highs. His sun-kissed skin was highlighted further by a silver amulet that rested against the know of his tie and a ring on his left hand.
Sebastian gave him a once over, nodded and then turned back to the computer. The newcomer seemed displeased with Sebastian’s lack of shock or fear. He materialised next to the taller male. A tanned hand came to rest on Sebastian’s shoulder. He hummed in response, an underlying question he was too tired to ask.
“What are you trying to do?” the voice came again.
Sebastian didn’t bother turning around and instead went back to Googling. He felt the tanned male that he’d apparently ‘summoned’ lean further into his space. The shorter was reading his computer screen.
“Oh, you’re trying to get rid of spirits from the house and… attachments. But you haven’t got any, well besides me now.”
Sebastian nodded tiredly. So he had an attachment now, no big deal. He just needed to make the house quieter before his housemates came back and made things worse. It took all of Sebastian’s will-power to keep his gunmetal eyes trained on the computer screen.
The tanned man still stood next to him with a hand on his shoulder. The internet search was useless. Sebastian finally conceded to books. Standing slowly, he pushed his chair back in a careful manner. He didn’t want to accidentally enrage his new ‘friend’.
“What are you doing now?”
Sebastian finally looked at the other male.
“Books. Just gotta make the house quiet enough for me to sleep before they come back and make it too loud again.”
His words slurred together. Night and night of no sleep finally catching up to him all at once.
“They? You’re housemates?”
Sebastian nodded, vision starting to blur as he scanned his bookshelf.
“And their attachments. As if the house doesn’t have enough. At least the idiot who does the three am challenges isn’t here bringing new things into here.”
He was just sleep deprived. And suddenly confident to talk about them like that since they weren’t there to hear. A warm hand gently reached around his waist to hook itself on his left hip. Sebastian cocked an eyebrow at the man.
“You summoned me, use the summons. I can get rid of them just tell me to. Whether it be your room-mates, their attachments or the houses attachments. Your wish is my command, for a fee.”
Sebastian mulled the words over in his head. Judging by the tanned male’s wording he’d accidentally summoned the smoothest talking demon ever. He wasn’t bad to look at either. No, he told himself, don’t flirt with the demon.
“So you’re a demon?” Sebastian said, picking his words carefully.
The arm draped around his waist tighten for a brief moment before relaxing again.
“Sure am. My name, well it’s not really my name, I suppose it’s a nickname. Anyway, I go by Haechan. How bout you?”
“Sebastian. I like you well enough for you to call me Bas though. Never Seb.”
The tanned demon, Haechan, laughed and leaned down to rest his head on Sebastian’s left shoulder. His mocha eyes flashed red for the briefest of moments. Sebastian mulled over the offer Haechan had extended previously.
“If you get rid of the house’s attachments, what would you want in return?” his voice didn’t shake, for once.
“I’m not going to say your soul so stop worrying. I want you to go on a date with me. I’ve never been on one before but they sound interesting. Is it a deal?”
No more attachments, well for the house at least his room-mates can deal with their own mess, and a date with a handsome devil, well demon actually. Win-win situation. Sebastian nodded. Now he could finally sleep.
“Can I stay for a while?” Haechan asked tucking himself closer to the human.
Sebastian nodded again. And cuddles. Win-win-win. So he finally settled down for the night after a week of staying up with a cute demon tucked into his side, head laying on his chest.
