Chapter Text
14-year-old Justine walked around the marketplace, looking for some more unsuspecting victims to steal from for her father, Jafar. She had already stolen an old emerald necklace from an older woman, and she knew that it would be worth a pretty penny.
He’ll love this. She thought to herself as she attempted to swipe a ring without the merchant noticing. Unfortunately, she wasn’t quick enough this time and the merchant saw her just as she swiped the ring off of the stand. The merchant’s son, who was evidently much larger than her in size, saw her and began to chase after her.
Justine managed to temporarily outrun her pursuer, and ran into a lesser-known alleyway and hid behind some large crates. She waited for almost twenty minutes before she believed it was a good idea to be able to leave. She crept out of the alley and almost made it all the way out before she was suddenly grabbed from behind. She attempted to fight off the attacker, dropping the necklace and the ring onto the ground beside her as she was dragged back into the alleyway.
“LET ME GO, YOU IDIOT!” Justine yelled as they boy threw her onto the ground, knocking the breath out of her lungs at the impact. Even out of breath, Justine managed to try to fight off her assailant. The boy started to climb on top of her, and Justine already knew what he was trying to do. She kicked and punched at the guy as he took out a pocket knife, flicking out the blade.
“SHUT UP!” The guy said, bringing the blade closer to her face. He slides it closer to her eye and creates a slice from her temple to her cheek as Justine continued to fight, not being one to give up that easily. The guy proceeded to rip off her jacket (that was actually her brother’s) and threw it to the side as he tried to (literally) rip off her shirt.
“HEY!” They suddenly heard from the other end of the alleyway. Justine was already starting to lose consciousness when she saw two boys about her age rip the guy off of her. The blonde boy helped her sit up against the wall and put her jacket back on while the boy with black hair held the guy up against the wall, holding a sharp hook at his neck. She realized that she knew who the two boys were. They were the sons of Captain Hook and of Gaston and were from a rival group of her brother and his friends.
After the guy ran off, terrified, Captain Hook’s son, Harry, came and checked he cut on the side of Justine’s face. He took a small bottle of hydrogen peroxide that he had swiped and used what was left of it to clean the cuts and bruises that were all over Justine’s face.
The boys tried to help her stand up, but Justine almost collapsed from pain in her ankle. She figured she must have sprained it when she was thrown to the ground because it didn’t feel like it was broken. Harry picked her up and put her on his back, and walked out of the alley. Gaston’s son, Gil, left the two of them because he had to go do something for his dad while Harry walked to the Junk Shop with Justine. They got back to the shop and saw Justine’s younger brother, Jay sitting at a table looking through what had been swiped that day.
“What are you doing out of your turf, Hook?” Jay said, rolling his eyes, not seeing that his sister was with him, injured.
“Ye might want ta be more concerned about the fact that yer sister just got attacked in an alley.” That made Jay look up and finally notice his sister and her appearance, standing up so quickly that the chair he had been sitting in fell back and slid across the floor.
“What happened to you?” He asked Justine, who barely lifted her head to look at him. Jay saw the cut across her face and helped her stand on the floor and walk to the table as she limped. Harry, wanting to get out of there before Jafar showed up, discreetly slid a piece of paper into Justine’s jacket pocket before leaving.
When Jay left the room to find if they had any bandages, Justine moved her hand and felt the paper in her pocket, pulling out and reading it.
Hope to see you again, lass. H.H.
