Chapter Text
They had lost.
That was what Tankman had known when he stood up from the pile of corpses... bodies who used to be his comrades, now gone forever.
And yet... he didn't understand why they had inevitably lost. They were prepared for war, right? So how... how did it come to this?
His legs were sore, yet he moved anyway. He trudged through the empty battlefield, not even trying to joke to himself as he began to realize what was going to be the consequence...
And then... they found him.
"Captain John is sighted! I repeat: Captain John is sighted! Cease him!"
He didn't even feel like running... it was pointless, and he knew that. He held up his hands, already knowing his time was up. The bombs would be dropped... and, whether or not everyone would be evacuated, there was no chance of their homes being in tact.
He felt them grab his arms, keep him at gunpoint, and lead him to a rather rich-looking helicopter. He wasn't going to enjoy this... especially since he would also probably see the demonic couple and the hitman in this prison... speaking of which, where were they?
But that was not the thing on his mind, because all he knew was...
They had failed.
...
BF remembered the very night it happened...
The destruction of everything he once loved.
The very destruction of music, the moment "reality" came and stuck its ugly head in what they called "fiction".
Why... his home used to be suck a lively, musical, and, albeit, weird place, until those realistic-looking humans discovered it and, because it was so magical, decided to use it for their own greed.
He remembered when, his father-in-law, his girlfriend's dad had seen the nukes, soldiers, and tanks (that were definitely not Tankman's) come through the entance to the city. He had hurried inside BF and Miku's house to grab them, before carrying the two to his own home, placing them and GF into his wife's arms.
BF remembered, surprisingly enough, GF's dad's tears, saying to them, "Right now, I need you all to be brave, and honey, take care of our daughter. When you leave, I need you all to run and never look or come back here."
BF also remembered how GF's mother held them tight and ran with them in her arms, following her husband's words, never looking back.
GF's dad turned around, not even surprised that he'd be apprehended. He at least made one sacrifice before letting his daughter, wife, and children-in-law go, and he hoped they would survive without him.
The only thing he did regret, however, was not being able to go with his family as he was among the rounded-up crowd. Would things get worse?
Only time will tell...
