Work Text:
“Deku we- are you fucking crying? Stop being a sappy idiot, Deku!”
Izuku looks over at the person speaking with tears - happy tears - welling up in his eyes. Bakugou Katsuki or Kacchan as he calls him. His reformed bully, best friend, and now unofficial hero partner.
Hero Partner.
It was unofficial since Kacchan insisted on being separate (so he could beat Izuku of course) but they still worked together often, and well. They were constantly working together on cases and missions alike, and with their special moves, the pair was practically unbeatable together.
They were twin stars, opposites attract to form a perfect pair.
It was so surreal. Their relationship had come a long way from where it once was. Their childhood friendship, to victim and bully, to rivals, to friends.
After the explosive fight at Ground Beta in their first year and all the shocking revelations that came with it, the relationship between the two mellowed out to be a rocky rivalry. Izuku was still walking on eggshells around Kacchan, and the latter was still rude and brash, if not slightly less volatile than before. Then, at some time during the beginning of their second year, where the pair were dancing around each other, toeing the line between acquaintance and friend, Kacchan had apologized. He had come into Izuku’s All Might themed bedroom at three am, poured his heart out (apologies for the mistreatment, the torment, the abuse, the harsh words, the suicide baiting, explaining the way he used to think, reassuring Izuku that it wasn’t your fault and I’m so so sorry—), and sobbed on Izuku’s shoulder.
And Izuku had told him that he was already forgiven of course because he’d already grown so much. The old Kacchan would have never apologized, never would have admitted his mistakes, admitted defeat, and been so vulnerable with Izuku of all people.
It was heartwarming, so much so that Izuku couldn’t resist shedding a few (a lot more than a few) tears himself.
(And Kacchan had told him that Izuku wasn’t allowed to forgive him until he proved that he deserved forgiveness , which was probably the most heartwarming thing of all.)
Their relationship had looked up a lot after that. They started to spar together -- for fun and to learn and grow, not to beat each other senseless. They invited each other to study sessions (AKA Kacchan trying to drill quadratic equations into the self proclaimed ‘Bakusquad’s’ brains) and game nights (Izuku dragging Kacchan down to the common room to engage in social activities) and just hung out.
It was still a rivalry of course but it was less fighting for the top spot, and more fun and carefree.
(Izuku taught Kacchan that when you save, you win.
Kacchan taught Izuku that winning means you save.)
Izuku started to let loose around Kacchan, letting down the boundaries that he puts up with his overwhelming happiness and optimism and replacing it with his sarcastic and dry sense of humor and genuine personality. He let himself take off the mask around his blond friend and they were able to bond over it, more than ever before. He was able to tease Kacchan and joke with him without fear of a punch to the face, and they were able to play fight and chase each other around with no worry about actually hurting each other.
Kacchan was still that same rude and brash exterior but Izuku saw right through that -- he always did. On the inside Kacchan was kind, caring, and protective over the people he loved and he showed you through his actions not his words.
And when Kacchan came to him, Izuku, when he was plagued with nightmares of Kamino ward, and warm hands around his neck, and everyone he loved dying, Izuku was honored and happy to be his shoulder to cry on, to help and to hold when he needed a friend. And of course Kacchan did the same for him and it meant the whole world to Izuku, when they stayed up and watched cartoons and laughed together and didn’t speak of it in the morning because the demons that haunt their nightmares didn’t need to be spoken of again. It was an unspoken agreement between the two that held strong with their growing closeness and connection.
It was the little things that fermented it for him, like when Kacchan, who was adverse to physical contact let Izuku hug him when he really needed it, or when he made Izuku dinner (‘take care of yourself, you bastard’) or when he was just there.
(And if Izuku overheard Kacchan say ‘Of course Shitty Deku is my best friend’ and he cried about it while hugging his favorite All Might pillow for a while, that was nobody’s business but his own.)
But it really was all coming to a climax for him here and now, two years after their graduation from UA, two years on the scene as Dynamite and Deku, the unofficial Wonder Duo, and the official opening of their shared agency, Ground Zero. The pair were quickly rising in the ranks (now being at ranks #20 and #21 respectively) as being a part of the Hell Class 1-A had them already gaining traction. Along with their flashy quirks and famous rivalry, they were already known names. The two friends had been planning this for a while and now that the agency was open, it was all finally coming true for them.
“Deku!” Kacchan’s fingers snap in front of his face, yanking Izuku out of his thoughts and memories and back to the present. He jumps a little out of surprise.
“What’d you say, Kacchan?” he asks.
“You’re crying again.” Kacchan grumbles, he grumbles because his default mood is ‘touch me and you die’. Izuku, because his self preservation instincts jumped out a window when he mangled his arms to help Shouto, ignores this mood and snatches the blond up in a hug, still crying.
“Crying is my default setting!” he exclaims, as if that explains everything. In a way, it kind of does. “And I’m just so happy! We’re finally opening the agency!”
“Do you only speak in exclamation points?” Kacchan rolls his eyes, but doesn’t shove Izuku off just yet, which he’s immensely grateful for.
Izuku lets go of Kacchan and gives him a deadpan stare, halting his waterworks. “Do you only speak in grumbles and snarky comebacks?”
Katsuki glowers at Izuku, which probably would’ve made him immediately start rambling apologies in their first year, but now he and the rest of Class 1-A are more or less immune. Izuku even matches his glower with a glare of his own, because if there’s one thing he got out of his friendship with Kacchan, it was a backbone.
The ‘I take no shit’ energy is the only thing that kept him alive all these years.
They continue to glare at each other for what feels like an eternity but only last a couple of seconds. An unspoken staring contest that seems to happen a lot lately because in Kacchan’s words “only pussies break eye contact first”. Yes, this is a show of dominance, don’t @ them, everything they do is a competition. Izuku snaps his fingers, forcing his best friend to blink and laughing triumphantly.
“Ha! I win! That’s going on the board!” Izuku exclaims. The board being their sparring board. After walking in on one too many arguments about who wins the most arguments (ironic, they know) All Might decided to take it upon himself to help them keep track. Izuku assumed it was because it kept them motivated and pushing themselves harder. So All Might kept a tally board in his office at UA, marking every time one of them won a spar or argument.
Then, Izuku wanted to count staring contest wins, and then Katsuki wanted to count the eating competitions, and then there was the argument about who’s better at jumping off of buildings and so. Well. You get the point. It just spiraled out of control from there.
Now every competition was on the board. Subtle and unspoken to all-out brawls.
So Izuku, who now has another tally to add, runs into their new building to find the board. Kacchan is right on his heels, explosions popping and yelling about cheating. Sensing the danger he’s in, and having no doubt that this has turned into a race, Izuku activates One for All at 75% (because he doesn’t want to damage the new building with one hundred) and runs. He dashes past the receptionist desk, and up the stairwell, Kacchan still on his tail. He runs into his fifth-floor office, finding the board and scribbling another two tallies into his section with a green marker. One for winning the staring contest, and one for the race.
Izuku is now sitting at 143 wins, with Kacchan at 140. They usually kept their ratios pretty evenly matched, one surpassing the other, and then the lead was flipped, and so on. Izuku glanced away from the board and looked around the office space that was on the sixth floor.
It was the highest floor in the agency, and the entire thing was dedicated to being Kacchan and Izuku’s joint office. The elevator and staircase opened up to a common area -- the room they were in right now. It had couches and bean bags scattered around, a small kitchen, and a large flatscreen. There was a bathroom, a supply closet, a pantry, all stocked to the brim. In the corner was their famous board. Behind the lounge-type area were their office spaces, separated by two thick sliding doors. The offices were separated, but there was a door connecting the two from the inside, allowing easy access.
Lastly, there was a separate marked off door in the common area that led to the conference room, for their most important meetings.
Izuku left Kacchan to grumble on the beanbags and ventured into his new office. The back wall featured floor-to-ceiling windows that gave a spectacular view of the city. He had a desk set up that had his back to the windows, and the other two walls were lined with bookshelves. Some featuring his favorite books, some with quirk theory work, others with stuff for pro heroes. On the left wall of the office was a door that required fingerprint scans and a specialized ID to unlock. It stored Izuku’s analysis notebooks; only he and Kacchan had the authorization to open it.
Izuku wandered over to his desk, glancing at the floor plans for the building. The first floor was for the receptionist and the lobby. The second was dedicated to their miniature hospital ward and the storage of hero gear and costumes. The third floor was the underground hero section of the agency -- a segment that was unknown to the public for obvious reasons. They were planning on getting Shinsou to run it, seeing as he was close friends with Izuku and Kacchan seemed to have a sort of begrudging respect for him. The fourth floor was for their PR and management team, along with support gear designers. The fifth floor was split between the offices and the breakroom. It was all he wanted in an agency, and he couldn’t be happier about it.
Izuku let out a content sigh as he left his office, plopping onto the couch near Kacchan, who had stopped brooding and started scrolling through his phone. Izuku huffs loudly. Kacchan ignores him.
“Kaaaaachaaaaannnnnn,” Izuku draws out the name, aiming to annoy his friend as much as possible. Kacchan keeps his eyes glued to his screen, not even sparing him a glance. Izuku, deciding that he’s feeling like being extra annoying today, gets up from the couch and unceremoniously drops himself on top of the blonde, putting all his body weight into it. He ends up sprawled on him and fusing Kacchan into the beanbag. The phone presses uncomfortably into the small of his back, but Izuku elects to ignore it.
Kacchan groans and grumbles something, probably along the lines of ‘get the fuck off of me’ but Izuku doesn’t understand it -- probably because his face is squished on Izuku’s upper back. Oh well. Not his problem.
Izuku lets out a rather exaggerated sigh of contentment and smiles evilly, not that the blonde can see it. The green haired male feels the grip on the phone tighten, and then Kacchan’s hands are shoved into his back, pushing him up and making him stumble. Izuku catches his footing and spins on his heel to face Kacchan, who glowers. Izuku doesn’t even flinch.
“I’m bored.” he decides, flopping onto the couch face first. He turns his head to face the blond as he rolls his eyes. “Don’t care.”
“But Kacchan!” Izuku protests, sitting up and fixing himself into a cross-legged position on the couch. He absentmindedly grabs one of the throw pillows and hugs it to his chest. He makes a mental note to decorate this room with All Might plushies. Suddenly, an idea pops into his head. Izuku grins. “Kacchan I-”
“No.”
“But I didn’t even say anything yet!” Izuku protests, pouting.
Kacchan sighs, loudly and exasperated. “You have that look on your face. Everytime you get an idea it ends with you in prison, kicking someone’s ass, getting your ass kicked, annoying the fuck out of everyone in a fifty mile radius, or blackout drunk and crying to me about how pretty Icyhot’s eyes are.”
Izuku blushes bright red at that last statement, causing Katsuki to snicker. “Hey! My ideas are brilliant.” he huffs, indignant. The blonde gives him a pointed look, “You didn’t deny the thing about half-and-half though.”
“His eyes are pretty!” Izuku sighs with a sort of dreamy look in his eye, “Like so pretty. They’re two different colors-- two Kacchan! And they literally sparkle if the light hits them right. And they have these little like. Flecks. Of lighter shades and stuff just scattered in there like frickin’ sprinkles. Sprinkles, Kacchan. It’s mesmerizing. I think that deep blue and charcoal gray are my favorite colors. Specifically the exact shade of his eyes. Do they sell things in the color of his eyes? Maybe I should decorat—”
He’s interrupted from his rambling by a snort from his best friend. “Kami, you’re whipped.”
Izuku gives a deadpan stare, “Kirishima Eijirou.”
“Shut the fuck up.”
“Yeah, that’s what I thought.” The greenette uses full cowl to whip the pillow at the blond, who gracefully uses his face as a landing pad for it. “Just ask him out already!” Izuku says, ignoring Katsuki’s feral growls. “He obviously likes you.”
“Then you ask Todoroki.” Kacchan gets up from the bean bag and heads over to the minifridge.
“That’s differ— wait. ”
Kacchan turns around from where he was glaring at the fridge like it stole his hot sauce. “What?”
“You used Shouto’s real name.” Izuku gasps, shellshocked.
“You’re deflecting.”
“No, you.” Izuku snarks back, feeling rather good about himself.
“Shut up! It was an accident!” Kacchan growls, turning back to the fridge and grabbing water before aggressively closing the door and stomping back to the beanbag.
“Kacchan do you...consider Shouto your friend?” A sly smile finds its way onto the greenette’s face. Kacchan goes eerily silent. Oh no. Izuku scoots back on the couch, making himself as small as possible. When Kacchan goes silent no one is safe.
The explosive hero drops his water bottle onto the coffee table and goes to his beanbag, picking up the previously discarded throw pillow as Izuku jumps over the back of the couch, taking slow steps back to his office. “Kacchan...I’m sorry. No hard feelings?” he asked nervously.
Kacchan dives over the couch, tackling Izuku to the ground. They both hit the floor hard, but the greenette takes the most damage. He just knows his ass is going to bruise. Kacchan sits up, not wasting a second and proceeds to beat Izuku with the pillow.
“Me—“
Slap.
“—and that—“
Slap.
Izuku brings his hands up to cover his face.
“ —Half and half bastard —“
Slap.
“—aren’t friends!”
Kacchan huffs and gets up from his position on top of Izuku. In retaliation, the greenette removes his hands from his face and smirks devilishly, “Whatever you say, Kac-chan.”
The mocking did not bode over well with Kacchan who pounced on Izuku, pinning him to the ground with startling efficiency. He aimed his signature right hook, but Izuku caught it, twisting his wrist at an odd angle and shoving the larger man off of him. He stood up as Kacchan did, and dropped into a fighting stance for what was clearly another impromptu spar.
Kacchan mimicked his stance and dove at him, but Izuku was faster, twisting around Kacchan in a burst of speed and attempting to shove him to the ground. Kacchan stumbled, but caught himself, and pivoted on his heel, faking another punch but then kicking Izuku in the stomach, knocking the wind out of him in his surprise. Izuku backed up a bit, then attempted a roundhouse kick to Kacchan, but the blonde caught it and used his momentum to drop Izuku to the ground.
Just as Kacchan leaned over him Izuku kicked up on his chest, pushing the blond up. He popped up from the floor and got ready to make another move. He grabbed Kacchan’s shoulder and brought his knee up, but Kacchan shoved it back down, grabbed his other foot, and yanked, causing Izuku to fall to the ground.
He kicked out the foot Kacchan was still holding, making him jolt and let go. Izuku popped back up, but Kacchan was already behind him, hitting the back of his knees and knocking him to the floor once again. Izuku landed on his knees and groaned in pain as Kacchan shoved him down to the ground, cheek pressed against the cold floor. His left arm was wrapped around his back, and his right was pinned to the ground, both held in place by Kacchan.
After a couple of seconds of fruitless struggle, Izuku went limp in his hold, forfeiting. Kacchan got off of him, triumphant, and went over to the board to add a tally to his column. Izuku grumbled to himself but gave in to his defeat -- he wasn’t a sore loser like some people.
“ Ha! I win. Suck it, Deku!” Kacchan cheered going back to the table and grabbing his water bottle. Oh, a sore winner too. Izuku hadn’t even broken a sweat in that fight, but Kacchan clearly did (he doesn’t care that his quirk is exploding sweat let him have this-- ) so he'll count it as a win.
Izuku just rolled his eyes, getting up from the floor and hopping back over the couch to sit, “Yeah, yeah. What were we talking about again?”
“You being too much of a pussy to confess.” Kacchan snarked because he just had to go there.
“Well, then I guess we’re both pussies.” Izuku mumbled under his breath.
“WHAT DID YOU SAY?” Kacchan bellowed.
“ Anyways ! ” Izuku said a little bit too loud, tactfully ignoring Kacchan and changing the subject. He was sitting in a nice calm, boiling anger, and Izuku did not want to get into an exploding rage. “I was saying something about an idea I had! ” Izuku helpfully supplied, determined not to let this go.
Kacchan scoffed and walked over to a cabinet, pulling out a box of pocky. “Yeah, no. You’re not dragging me into your bullshit this time Deku.” Izuku eyed the box hungrily, which Kacchan noticed of course, and tactfully shielded it from view.
“But you didn’t even hear me out yet!” Izuku whined. Some best friend. Just because he got arrested that one time doesn’t mean all his ideas are terrible. Kacchan is so mean!
“Deku, no,” Kacchan growled, growled, like a feral dog. Izuku was reminded of an angry pomeranian, and the only reason he didn’t share this thought was fear of an explosion to the face. He opened the box of dark chocolate pocky and took one out, chomping on it aggressively. Then Kacchan dropped back onto his original beanbag, grabbing the remote and turning on his flatscreen.
Izuku huffed and decided that he will be getting his way today. And so, he crawled over to the edge of the couch closest to the beanbag and pouted. He willed the tears into his eyes until his vision was blurry, and puffed out his cheeks a bit. “Please Kacchan.”
“No.”
“Cmon, please!”
“No.”
“Kacchan.”
“I’m ignoring you now,” Kacchan announced, making a show of turning his body away from Izuku. He huffed indignantly. How rude!
“Kacchan.”
“Kacchan.”
“Kacchan.”
“Kacchan. Kacchan. Kacch-”
“OH MY FUCKING GOD FINE, WHAT.” he screamed. Mission accomplished. Izuku dropped the act and smiled coyly, leaning forward on the armrest.
“Ok, so!” Izuku clapped his hands excitedly. “I was thinking, in honor of the opening of Ground Zero, we could...play a little game.”
The blonde raised an eyebrow. “A game.”
“Messing with people, basically,” Izuku said, knowing he hit the jackpot when an evil and slightly feral smirk slid onto Kacchan’s lips. “For once this idea doesn’t totally suck. You know I love fucking with people. How are we doing this?”
Izuku pretends to think it over. “Give me pocky and I'll tell you.” He makes grabby hands at the box and stares at Kacchan, who shoots him an unimpressed raised eyebrow. He then sighs, takes a single pocky stick out of the box (so stingy! Who can survive off of one stick!), and starts to pass it to Izuku only to accidentally drop it at the last second, causing the stick to fall to the ground between them. “Oops,” Kacchan smirks triumphantly, happy about his literal crime against humanity. He takes another pocky and sticks it in his mouth, letting most of it hang out like an impromptu stabbing device.
Izuku, undeterred and not one to waste food (seriously, think of the children!), snatches up the pocky from the floor and bites off half in one go, while simultaneously snatching the one in Kacchans mouth and eating that too.
The blonde wrinkles his nose in disdain, “What the fuck? You’re disgusting.”
“Yep!” Izuku chirps, popping the p. “No shame in my game.”
Kacchan flicks his fingers on Izuku’s forehead and mumbles, “Fuckin’ crazy.” The greenette ignores him.
“So the plan is to annoy the crap out of the general public,” Izuku says, casually leaning back on the couch. Kacchan blinks at him and sighs loudly, taking another pocky from the box. Izuku makes a show of staring at it, but Kacchan does not give in. Izuku sighs dramatically, but doesn’t push his luck. He doesn’t need to go for round three.
“And how exactly do you plan on doing that?” Kacchan asks with a bored tone, but his eyes betray his interest.
“Oh, Kacchan. Four words.” Izuku smirked.
“Manipulation and physiological warfare.”
Izuku stood stock still, pressed against the side of the aisle, and waited. He was dressed in one of Kacchan’s band hoodies, and his only pair of black ripped jeans. He also sported one of those glasses with a fake nose and mustache attached to it, just for funsies.
Kacchan stood across from him on the other side of the aisle, dressed in one of Izuku's pastel color bomb T-shirts, with the chibi version of Shouto’s hero costume on it. (it was the most hideous shirt Izuku owned, don’t ask where he bought it, it just appeared— ) He wore tan cargo shorts and bright red shoes to match. As for facial coverings, Kacchan decorated his face with obnoxious neon green paint splatters ( that look nothing like his freckles! ) and a Deku beanie. Even Izuku could admit the outfit was terrible, but Kacchan just responded by saying it was something he would wear. Which. Rude! He would definitely not wear that! Well-- Ok, there was that one time, but other than that he wouldn’t be caught dead.
Anyways, the hero duo was standing in an aisle of a Costco, the cereal aisle specifically, dressed oddly and in hiding. Kacchan was clutching a cereal box to his chest (plain corn flakes, because they deserve to be wasted) and Izuku was glancing back every so often.
Finally, they found what they were looking for.
“Someone’s coming! Get ready!” Izuku hissed and positioned himself further into the aisle. He then started to climb the shelves like a rabid monkey/spider hybrid on steroids.
Kacchan’s smile was feral as he held out his cereal box in a position similar to that one baboon holding Simba up in the lion king. “MY DARLING CHILD! HE’S SO BEAUTIFUL!” Kacchan screeched, just as a poor unsuspecting customer came into view.
Izuku proceeded to make incoherent feral noises, screeches, and babbles as he spider crawled near the tops of the extremely high shelves.
Kacchan shrieked, shrieked, like a six year old girl and clutched his cereal child to his chest as he watched Izuku scuttle around, eyeing the cereal hungrily. “DEMON! DEMON!” Kacchan turned towards the customer and Izuku had to hold back a laugh at the horror painted over their face, frozen in shock. “I NEED A CROSS!” Kacchan started to weep and beg, “PLEASE!”
Taking his cue, the greenette jumped down from the shelves with a burst of full cowl and leaped at Kacchan, who was now advancing towards the horrified customer. He snatched the cereal box and clutched it in between his teeth as he crab walked away.
More customers had started to gather now, watching the certified shit show.
Izuku ripped the box open with his teeth, spilling corn flakes all over the clean Costco floor, and shoving them into his mouth by the handfuls.
Kacchan’s screams and cries of “NO!”, “DEMON!” and “CEREAL KILLER!” can be heard vividly in the background.
Satisfied with his handiwork, Izuku scuttled away and back to the shelves, knocking cereal boxes down aswell he went.
Kacchan jumped towards the torn apart cereal box and cried over it, actually making tears in his eyes. Izuku wondered when he became such a great actor. “I’ll put you out of your misery…”
Kacchan then pulled a rather large butcher knife from his back pocket (how big is that thing?) and proceeded to repeatedly stab the box carcass while crying hysterically. It was quite the scene, but Izuku still had a part to play. He jumped down from the shelves, right in front of the group of five or so customers and hissed at them angrily. He growled and glared until they ran away screaming.
Satisfied, Izuku chuckled to himself and stood up, brushing off the cereal on his person. Kacchan stopped stabbing the box and together they both swept up the mess they made (they respect Costco, ok?!)
When the pair heard footsteps they quickly hid in the shadows, watching a customer practically crying to an employee about how she witnessed “two physocopaths commit a murder in the aisle”. The employee gave her a pity filled smile and tried to gently guide her to the exit, like one would treat a feral animal, or someone mentally ill.
Kacchan gave Izuku a high-five, and they walked out cackling to themselves about a job well done.
Kacchan had complained that he was craving a burrito, so Izuku decided to go to a local McDonalds.
They were in the same getup as the morning’s costco incident, except Kacchan had smoothed his hair down like Best Jeanist did and ditched the beanie, and Izuku had tossed the glasses in the backseat of the car, styling his hair with cute pink bows and butterfly clips.
Kacchan pulled up to the drive-thru, smirking and ready to give some poor customer service worker an aneurysm.
They drove right past the intercoms and menu since the line was empty, and pulled up at the window. Kacchan dawned a smile that looked odd on his face and batted his eyelashes at the poor girl. Her face lit up in recognition. “Hey! You’re Deku and Dynamite!”
Kacchan blinks at her, “C-C-Can I pl-please have-e a—“
“I WANT A FUCKING BURRITO.” Izuku screeched, snarling like Kacchan often would. The employee took a step back, astonished. “Sir, this is a McDonald’s, you need to get—“
“DON’T TELL ME WHAT TO FUCKING DO!” Izuku interrupted again, deciding he no longer knew what an inside voice was.
Kacchan spoke next, with a wobbly smile, “So-sorry, he’s uhm—“
“SPEAK UP!” Izuku bellowed, letting spit fly on Kacchan’s face. His eyebrow twitched in annoyance, but he didn’t say anything otherwise. Kami, Izuku was having way too much fun with this.
“I-I’m sorry but we don’t have burritos.” the worker said, looking lost.
“GET US OUR GOD DAMN BURRITO NOW!” Kacchan yelled, making the employee pale.
“I WANT THE SPICIEST SHIT YOU GOT, I DIDN’T COME TO THIS DAMN TACO BELL FOR NOTHING!” Izuku tacks on, glaring at the employee (he makes a mental note to apologize later and tip generously). The employee looks a little relieved at this, saying, “Sir, the Taco Bell is over in Tokyo, that might be what you’re looking for.”
Izuku winces internally as Kacchan yells, “NO I WANT MCDONALDS. AND I WANT A BURRITO.”
The poor worker looks like she’d rather be anywhere but there.
Not wanting to terrorize the poor woman anymore, Izuku slams his hand onto the horn and Kacchan gets the message, slamming down on the gas and driving away. Both of them are giggling maniacally as they do so.
When they’re a safe distance away from the McDonald’s, Izuku buries his face in his hands in shame. “I felt so bad for swearing at her! How do you do it?”
Kacchan just chuckled, and Izuku responded to this by sending him a glare.
They ended up getting katsudon instead.
Aiko was having a terrible day. She got stuck covering her coworker’s shift because they had a family emergency, and she missed her little sister’s ballet recital because of it.
And just as she thinks her day is looking down, she meets Deku and Dynamite in the drive thru! But then they started acting fucking crazy yelling and asking for burritos of all things? It was traumatizing.
Deku, the golden boy of the Hell Class, thousand watt smile, heart of gold Deku, cussed her out in a McDonalds drive-thru. She’d expect that from Dynamite, but not Deku! What deity did Aiko piss off to get here?
But the worst part was that after recovering from whatever the hell that was, she complained to her boss and he sent her home because ‘maybe being overworked is making her see things’
Aiko is not crazy! But none of her other coworkers heard the shouting. And the manager doesn’t believe her. And she has no proof. And she was tired…
maybe the sleep deprivation is getting to her.
Maybe she is crazy.
Hitoshi has been having a pretty good day, all things considered. He got five hours of sleep instead of his usual three, and he enjoyed three cups of plus ultra! black coffee from his favorite shop. Mochi, his cat, was actually functioning properly today, and Denki, was being an amazing boyfriend as always.
And now, Izuku had invited him over to the new agency to discuss the new underground division. Hitoshi won’t lie, he’s excited. Ground Zero agency has a lot of potential, and he’s excited to help run it. Besides, Izuku is one of his best friends, and Bakugou’s an asshole, but a decent asshole.
This is going to be so much fun.
Hitoshi waltzed into the new building, admiring the pristine lobby decorated in shades of mint and pastel green, with vines and potted plants hanging from walls, and sitting in corners. It had a very kind, homey feel to it; definitely Izuku’s work, Bakugou could never design something this nice.
He took the elevator up to the fifth floor, where their office space was. He stepped out of the elevator and that was when he saw it.
Izuku and Bakugou wore matching bunny girl outfits (ears, black leotards, bushy little tails, fishnets, and knee high boots, the whole shebang --) and they sat cross legged, with their eyes closed, looking as if they were praying. Except they couldn’t be praying because they sat across from each other around what looked to be a sigil (is that painted in blood?) with five candles around it. It looked like some kind of summoning ritual, and-- yep. They’re chanting something under their breaths, but in perfect unison. What the fuck.
Hitoshi stepped back into the elevators and pressed the button to shut the doors taking deep breaths. He counted backwards from five, blinked a couple times, and opened the door again to see a perfectly normal office space, completely empty, no demonic rituals to be found.
Distantly, Hitoshi thought three cups of coffee wasn’t enough as he turned around, went back into the elevator, and went home.
Ochaco liked to think of herself as a patient person. Patient and kind, that’s how most people described her.
That’s what being a rescue hero was all about after all. Avoiding the big flashy fights, but instead working in the aftermath, digging through the wreckage and rubble to save someone.
Patience and kindness were a virtue in her field of work, but due to her calm, girl-next-door demeanor, people forget one small detail.
Her patience isn’t endless.
To put it simply, Ochacho had a not very great day at work, and she came back to her small little home that she shared with Tenya to relax. She expected an empty home. She expected to go in, change into comfortable clothing, and take a nap by the poolside. Tenya was still working, and although she loves him, she was excited to have the house to herself.
Ochaco comes in, unceremoniously drops her key into the basket on the table in the entryway and sighs. She trudges up the stairs, changes into black shorts and a tank top, and makes her way outside for her favorite pastime. A nap by the pool, summer sun warming her skin, leaving her lightly tanned when Tenya wakes her up.
Ochacho slides open the screen door that opens up to her backyard expecting to do just that.
Ochacho did not expect to find Izuku (her best friend) and Katsuki (her rival/friend-adjacent?) putting on a theatrical performance on the diving board.
They were dressed in matching All Might swim trunks, and Katsuki was hoisting Izuku up while the greenette held his arms out over the pool, similar to that popular titanic scene.
“I’m flying!” Izuku exclaims, sounding awestruck. Ochaco would be astounded by the acting skills if they weren’t disturbing her afternoon nap.
“Now drown.” Katsuki deadpans as he drops Izuku into the pool below. He cries out as he drops, only to be muted as he hits the water with a slap and slowly sinks below.
Ochaco does not have the energy for this.
She picks up a pool noodle thrown haphazardly to the side and holds it up menacingly, just as Izuku comes up for air.
“Get out of my house or I’ll beat you with this pool noodle.” Ochaco threatens.
All things considered, it was a rather lackluster threat considering the strength of a literal pool noodle, but it worked because Katsuki dove in after Izuku and scrambles out of the pool with him.
She hears a light “Bye, ‘Co-chan!” from her best friend before the hero duo scurry past her and out of her front door.
Ochaco doesn’t even bother to question how they got into her house in the first place, and with a sigh, drops the pool noodle and takes her well deserved nap.
Izuku collapses onto the couch with Kacchan, twisting around to watch the faint evening glow and setting sun through the glass into their offices.
He lets out a content sigh as he rests his head on his arms. “I think we did pretty good today.”
Izuku sees Kacchan nod an affirmative from his peripheral vision. He lets a mischievous grin slip onto his face. “We should wear the bunny girl outfits more often,” Izuku remarks, standing and stretching.
“ You can wear it for Icyhot,” Kacchan snarks, causing Izuku to blush. “It’s not my thing.”
Izuku glares at his best friend. “We both know you looked ugly Kacchan, you can just say it,” he deadpans, leaning down and patting Kacchan’s head condescendingly, like one would do for a touch-starved toddler. Only Izuku’s killer reflexes help him dodge the attack as Kacchan lunges at him, growling. “FUCK YOU, I LOOKED FUCKIN’ HOT.”
Izuku blinks slowly, unimpressed. He flat out ignores the blonde as he starts the trek to the kitchenette. “Yeah, yeah whatever.” he mumbles. The greenette opens the cabinet and discreetly pulls out the last box of pocky.
“Deku.” Oh no. He’s been caught.
“Deku, those are mine.” Izuku ignores him, willing him to go away and let him eat the chocolate treat in peace. It doesn’t work. He slowly and carefully starts to open the box, knowing full well the blonde can see him.
“ Izuku. ”
Oh no. Oh no. Things have taken a turn for the worst. Kacchan almost never uses Izuku’s given name. Izuku spins around, facing the blonde with the fakest customer service smile he has and attempts to diffuse the situation.
“I’ll pay you for it?”
Kacchan growls.
“Spar?” The growl turns into a feral grin.
“You’re on .”
