Chapter Text
“Sorry sweetheart, were not looking to hire any new girls at the moment.” She motioned towards the nearly empty café. “Most of my customers won’t be back until after the break ends, and even still we are too far from campus to need any more hands.”
“Oh, no problem!” You try to shake away the disappointment from your voice with more enthusiasm than necessary. “Thanks anyway.”
Turning you exit the shop, pulling your scarf up tighter around you as the cold air hits your face. The rejection was not a big surprise at this point, all the other places you have tried had similar responses. That was part of the reason your search had led you so far away from the campus. Part time jobs were hard to come by in a college town, back in the city they were a dime a dozen.
You let out a sigh as you begin to walk towards the bus stop. Just another perk of transferring schools during the middle of the school year. Glancing up you note the sun beginning its descent. Well, there goes another day wasted, already knowing that you would be heading home at this point. Even you were not dumb enough to wander around a town you were not familiar with yet at night. You grab a seat by the bus stop and glance at your watch. Thankfully, you only had a few minutes until the next bus. You pull your notebook out and cross out the café’s name, your list was almost completely crossed out at this point minus a few maybes that said they would call and let you know.
The sound of the bus arriving jolted you out of your seat. You stumble onto the bus, smiling happily at the sudden warmth as you grab a seat close to the front. At least the bus was free for students, so your search was not charging you too much of your savings, minus the several coffees you purchased in an attempt to warm your hands throughout the day. The money wouldn’t last you more than another month even if you were careful. You try to fight of the wave of anxiety that hits you at the thought.
“Focus on the positives,” you whisper to yourself. Your grandmother covered the admission so that wasn’t a concern. Your roommate was nice and more than eager to rent you the room. Mel had interviewed you for all of two minutes before she grabbed your hands and asked you to move in with her. You were both in the psychology department. While you were in your senior year of your bachelor’s degree, she was already pursuing her master’s degree. She seemed eccentric and lively, two of the qualities you were craving after the shitty year you had.
The best part is that you were far away from all the toxic people that had turned your life into a nightmare.
No no, the intrusive thought enters your mind, now you are just completely alone.
~
The sun had already set by the time you arrived at your apartment. It was within walking distance of the campus; Mel had been eager to show you around, but you have been busy with the job search. The area was nice, it was a little more upscale than what you were used to back in the city. Reaching in your bag you pull out your keys and punch in the code to enter the building. The apartment had four floors and Mel’s apartment was on the third floor.
Humming you start to twirl your keys around your fingers as you enter the elevator. As you exit onto your floor you stumble forward, stabbing one of the keys into the web of your fingers.
“Fuck!” You grimace as you see the blood start to pool from the wound. Why not, you think as you try to stop the bleeding with your fingers.
You shuffle over towards your door and start to fumble with the lock. You can hear music playing from inside, Mel had already warned you that she always needed some kind of noise going on. Stepping into the apartment you are surprised by the dimmed lights. You move towards the kitchen and set your bag on the counter, you see a rag on the counter and grab it to help stanch the bleeding.
It was dark in the kitchen but you can see faint light coming from the living room. You hang up your coat and scarf and go to look for Mel, hopefully she has a bandage you can use for this. At least most of the bleeding was stopped by the rag.
Moving closer you realize the soft glow from the living room are several candles that are spread out on the coffee table.
A low moan startles you and you bring your eyes to the couch behind the table next to your bedroom door.
The erotic sight momentarily stuns you.
Mel is positioned on her knees between a pair of long muscular legs. You let your eyes travel up the man’s legs to his tapered waist. Her actions make it hard to get a good view of his abs, so your eyes continue their assault to his upper body, part of his chest and right arm are covered in tattoos. The dim light makes it hard to make them out.
You have never seen a body as beautiful as his, you can feel your mouth watering from just looking at him. The fingers of his tattooed arm are kneading gently into the back of Mel’s head encouraging her efforts. You even catch yourself feeling a momentarily sliver of jealousy that it is Mel on her knees pleasuring him instead of you.
Another moan leaves the man causing you to glance at his face. The angles of his face are fanned by his dark shoulder length hair.
Damnit just when you thought his body was the most beautiful thing you have ever seen you had to see his face. The universe wasn’t fair that was for sure.
You look into his eyes and realize for the first time that they are slightly opened and not closed like you originally thought.
His eyes widen more as he looks at you, a slow smirk appears on his face. You feel a flush creep up your cheeks. Well, that’s great he obviously noticed you eye fucking him.
With a cough you quickly turn around.
“Uhm Mel? I hate to uhm interrupt, but I need to get to my room.” You choke out.
An awkward pop noise fills the apartment followed by shuffling.
“Ohh shit my bad.” You hear Mel rise to her feet. Followed by what you can only assume is the man chuckling.
The room brightens as she turns the light on. You turn to walk towards your room, the man grabs a pillow to cover himself and jumps to his feet. He reaches out a hand towards you smiling. Surprisingly, you notice that his dark hair is in fact a dark purple.
“Sorry about that, I’m Jungkook, its nice to meet you.” His eyes are wide and almost doe like, the youthfulness of them surprise you compared to the rest of him. There is a distinct mischievous twinkle to them that almost makes you smile back. You ignore his hand and try to avert your eyes from him.
“Could you maybe put some clothes on first?” You awkwardly stutter. Fuck this guy is making you look like an idiot.
“Yeah, sure thing sweetheart.” He turns to look for his pants giving you a nice view of his taunt ass.
Mel tosses him his pants and walks over to you.
“Sorry roomie I guess we need to make a system for this kind of stuff.” Her smile is full of mirth. She is beautiful and petite, with long dark hair and expressive blue eyes. It would have been easy to be jealous of her but her sunny disposition made it impossible to feel that way.
“This is my friend Jungkook, and Jungkook this is my new roommate I mentioned.” She motions to you as you make your introductions.
At least he has pants on now as he offers you his hand again. You reach to give him a light shake, but his warm hand holds on tightly to yours. The feeling makes your stomach flutter, and you glance up at him questioningly. There is a distinct frown on his face as he pulls you closer, he grabs your other hand and holds it up.
“What the fuck happened?” His words are a mixture of anger and concern.
“Ahh.” You glance at your injured hand that you had wrapped with the cloth earlier. It had bleed more than you originally thought.
“It’s nothing I accidently stabbed myself with my keys on the way in.” He grabs your arm and pulls you too the kitchen. Your heart skipping at the forceful action.
“Mel, can you grab the first aid kit?” He shouts back to her.
“Sure thing!” She quickly heads for the bathroom.
You gasp in shock as he grabs your waists and hoists you onto the counter almost effortlessly. It’s surprising considering your ex had always complained how heavy you were. He grabs the injured hand and begins to unwrap it, throwing the cloth on the counter. You gaze silently at him while he works.
“I saw you earlier.” He says quietly.
“What do you mean?” You respond nervously. His eyes meet yours and a moment passes between you two, the air felt heavy and full of electricity.
“Watching me.” He says simply. The meaning behind his words hung in the air like a promise between lovers.
What the fuck, you think. Did Mel’s boyfriend just hit on you? Fuck that you are not going to be used again or be a doormat any longer. You cough and look back into his eyes angrily.
“I wasn’t looking at you.” Emphasizing it mockingly. “That was shock from the trauma of seeing that shit.”
He stares into your eyes for a few more moments before breaking out into laughter.
“Damn I think I like you sweetheart.” The mischievous gleam is back into his eyes this time.
Mel returns with the kit, and he steps back to search through it. He grabs what he needs and begins to gently wash and bind the wound. He does his best, but you know the position of the cut is awkward. You and Mel both admire his handiwork.
“How do you know how to do that?” Mel asks him. She seems pretty surprised by his actions.
“Hah, you hang out at Bangtan long enough and you learn how to bandage a wound.” He tells her.
He glances down at the table and then back at you. Leaning over he grabs the bloody cloth from the counter and unravels it.
“Is this my shirt?”
Damn it.
