Nowadays a soft humming seems to replace all the words Jungkook wants to say.
The rest of the blue dye dripped from the singer’s hair edges, staining the hotel towels that he wrapped around his naked shoulder. As he wraps things up with dying his hair, he lets out a soft melody, no words needed. There were moments that a single melody told Jungkook a story and maybe this time it’ll tell him how bad he is at dying his own hair. Also, Jungkook wasn’t one to spend hours talking about something and lately, he has been too lazy to even speak up about stuff with anyone. His voice box had been substituted by a melody box.
Maybe Hoseok will be mad at him, another fee they will have to pay because he wasn’t diligent with the hotel’s belongings. Fuck it, it’s not like he will ever come here again. He cleans off the dye that splashed a bit on his face, scrubbing it slowly with a warm towel. His reflection on the mirror made him content with the shade of blue he chose. It suits him way more than the other colors he had already tried. Maybe he should stick with this look for a while.
“JK, you in there?” A voice echoed from the hallway from his hotel room.
“Yeah.” He shouts back nonchalantly.
In a matter of seconds, his manager shows up at his bathroom door, eyeing the situation. The dye was still there and only let out a sigh, used to this situation. “If you wanted to dye your hair I would’ve scheduled an appointment at the hair salon and not have you-” He picks up one of the dye boxes only to stare at it with a confused expression. “Buy these homemade dyes and you do it yourself, making a mess.”
Jungkook shrugs, unbothered, he didn’t care about how it was done, what mattered was the final product. He was always left looking sorta good. “So, Hobi, what’s up now?” He seems to have made Hoseok remember the whole reason he is standing in front of him.
“Ah, so, we have a show scheduled tomorrow… but I wanted to ask you a favor.” Jungkook arches his brow, not used to having Hoseok ask for favors. He hums with a positive remark, already curious to know what he could possibly offer him. “So we are in Kyoto, we barely come here and I have a friend that owns a bar nearby. I might’ve mentioned that you all were free for a small show.”
“Why though? It’s not like we can do random shows at random places.” Jungkook interrupts him. He sounds confused and curious, everything was already set before at the label, all the meetings regarding tour dates and venues were scheduled. Jungkook wonders if Hoseok would get in trouble if the label found out. Also, Jungkook isn’t in the mood to attract fans of the band to a local bar.
Hoseok awkwardly lets out a laugh, trying to cover up the mistake he made by opening his mouth to his friend and inviting the boys there without further notice. His brownish hair neatly falls in place as he arranges it while distracting himself from the possible rejection.
“Look, I don’t mind. Just tell your friend not to open his mouth about it and we can do a few songs, does Yoongi and Namjoon know? Or am I supposed to tell them?” Jungkook scratches his waist, impatiently waiting for Hoseok to be done with this so he can take a shower and see his new hair in its final form.
“Well, I’ll tell them, see this as an only opportunity. Small stage, a few people. Like the old days, right?” Hoseok tries to make it sound better. With that, he excuses himself, heading to other bandmate’s rooms to get their permission.
“I guess.”
Jungkook hasn’t connected all the dots. He hadn’t had the time yet to built a puzzle on his success. He knew he worked hard for it but there are those uncommon days that appear once in a lifetime that are a game-changer. One day he was struggling to pay a studio rent and the other he was signing up with a big label.
Staying true to himself is hard. There are times that Jungkook truly wishes that he had continued with the small venues, had made music his hobby and not his money maker. Opening the wallet to receive was less burdening before. Having money and not knowing how to use can be bothersome, especially when someone can’t settle down. Jungkook can’t remember the last time he had a proper dinner with his family, sat down with his old grandma to watch her favorite show, or even had a night out with his old friends.
You lose some to win some. At least that’s how he sees it.
Jungkook sits on the balcony, staring at the sky as he opens up a bottle of beer. Hoseok had arranged a car for them later that night. He wasn’t particularly excited about it, he could’ve gotten the day to rest at the hotel, not his voice until the show but Hoseok was a nice guy, he was always around when they needed him. So a favor now and then wasn’t going to be the end of the world.
It doesn’t take long for the drummer to appear at the other balcony, glancing over at Jungkook as if they were long-time neighbors. They both have bottles of beer. “Hyung, how should I dress up?” Jungkook jokingly shouts over at Namjoon.
“Go with the usual. I’m going with this 10 dollar t-shirt and jeans.” Namjoon says as he takes a sip of his beer, setting himself against the balcony pillar. His hair is naturally slicked back as if he had only slid his fingers through it and let it rest like that. Even with a 10 dollar t-shirt, Jungkook thinks he pulled it off. A nice and casual look, he whispers to himself as he tries to remember all the outfits he had packed.
A few hours go by and Hoseok is knocking on his door, calling for him. He plops out of bed and throws away the bottle he had been drinking all this time. Checking himself in the mirror one last time, he tugs his hair behind his ear and lets a few blue strands fall against his forehead. His leather jacket seems rather extra considering that the weather isn’t even chilly. His black tight jeans also add up to his look.
The city is crowded, people coming back from work and the nightlife starts. Jungkook loves how the cities in Japan never seem to sleep, the lights always blinking and the sounds being everywhere. He adjusts a mask on his face, worrying about being recognized. Yoongi and Namjoon seem to all think alike, adjusting themselves in the car and trying hard to not look out the window in case someone sees through it. The instruments were at the back, clacking every minute or so against each other. Yoongi thinks of his bass, scared of having it scratched or even having a broken string. Jungkook had no idea what to expect but he feared Hoseok would be in trouble after tonight.
“You guys are way too tense, don’t worry.” Hoseok asserts with a firm voice and a friendly smile on his face. “If something happens, you can all say that it was a karaoke night, we make something up.”
“Fine.” Yoongi mutters.
Jungkook snickers as he realizes that Yoongi probably was against all of this, it wasn’t of his liking doing these surprise events, especially putting Hoseok in the spotlight. He had always been way too fond of the manager ever since the beginning. Jungkook one night had made the theory that if Hoseok asks Yoongi to leave the band, he might consider. Namjoon agrees with that theory.
Being that said, the bar seems to be around and none of them can spot a living soul in the street they are about to park. When Hoseok said small crowd, he meant it.
Gosh, what are we doing here? Jungkook keeps thinking as he opens the car to take a step into the street.
The bar is located inside a gallery based on what their manager said. The only gallery Jungkook can spot seems to be closed, Kyoto’s nightlife hasn’t arrived in this area yet. He chuckles as he listens to Yoongi question Hoseok about the entire thing, it seemed sketchy from the start.
Namjoon took out the bass and the guitar that were inside the car, also questioning the event.
“Where is your friend Jin?” Namjoon shuts the car truck, glancing at all sides to catch a glimpse of someone.
“He is at the door waiting for us…” Hoseok locks his phone as he makes his way inside the closed gallery. Jungkook only follows, not questioning much. He feels unbothered by the whole matter, it’s not like he had done anything interesting the last couple of days. Even if he ended in a weird situation, it would probably be the highlight of his week or even year.
The manager seems to find his way around, unlocking the lock’s clasp from the main entrance. It must be one of those secret bars that only limited people can enter. Jungkook tugs on his guitar and carefully makes his way into the enormous hallway. Their footsteps echoed and it did seem that there wasn’t a living soul in that place.
There’s a sound starting to echo and it’s a distant one, maybe from another street. Hoseok guides them until they reach a big concrete door. Jungkook can’t help but think if it is soundproof and by the looks of it, it is. The second Hoseok knocks against it, the door opens and a flash of light beams directly at their faces. There are clouds of dry ice escaping through the door and a young man stands in front of them.
Hoseok’s friend.
He is tall, slim, and very pretty. Prettier than the average man. Jungkook can’t recall who he is, he probably has never seen him before but he has a friendly face and he seems to be in awe with the reception. He throws smiles over to Hoseok as he greets him.
“Wow, I can’t believe it. I thought Hobi was lying about taking care of you guys.” Jin states as he starts making space for everyone to walk through the door.
The place is hectic, more than Jungkook imagined. He can see that they got in through the back doors, that’s why the gallery was empty and the band kept wondering what was happening. Jungkook’s eyes are everywhere, there’s too much information, from the led lights to the people sitting down making loud noises, he feels nervous. The bar is hundreds of conversations told in loud voices, all of them competing with the rock music that dominates the atmosphere. The crowd is young, students from the university for the most part. They probably know about Jungkook’s band.
Playing for a small audience was way different than playing for a bigger audience in a big venue. It felt more intimate but also more nerve-wracking. You continuously feel everyone’s eyes on you all the time.
It’s whatever, Jungkook tries shaking it off.
I will never see these people again so fuck it.
“Drinks on the house, everyone here speaks Korean. if you feel like just go to the bar and order anything you want.” At least they are getting free things, Jungkook can get wasted at the cost of nothing. He proceeds to grab one of the bottles of water that sat on a backstage stand and start tuning in his guitar.
Yoongi stands beside him doing the same, his jet black hair covers his eyes as he glances down at the tuning keys.
“Let’s do three and then hit the bar.” Yoongi suggests as he finishes off preparing his bass.
“Mkay.” Jungkook nods. “ Should I greet them in Japanese or what?”
“Just say hi and the band name, pretty self-explanatory.” Yoongi lets out a small chuckle.
Jungkook takes a peek in between the curtains, eyeing where he will perform in a couple of seconds. It’s a small stage, more like a tableau and Jungkook’s mind can only associate that to those places where a school play happens. It’s that type of place that if Jungkook sweats a lot, droplets will land on the audience. He holds onto his guitar as he takes a step on the stage. The man that runs this place has already introduced them and so what. Jungkook nods over to his bandmates and they are off to start.
There are surprising expressions on the crowd’s faces, people drunkenly chanting the band’s name and asking one of them to marry them. Jungkook doesn’t know Japanese well enough to understand what the people from the front row are chanting at him when he takes his place next to the microphone stand. He sends a small smile to them, too charming to simply not swoon over.
Jungkook knows what he does, he knows how to control the crowd and even knows what it takes to simply let a girl or boy drool, especially if they are his fans. It’s been years of this and that, fanservice even, so even if he does not understand the language he can understand that they are probably talking positively about him. This time it is the same thing.
He gives one last nod towards Namjoon and Yoongi so they know that it’s time to start playing.
Looking down to his guitar, he strums the first lines of I Bet That You’d Look Good on the Dancefloor. The words escape from his mouth like it’s his first time singing the song and he can feel what Hoseok had mentioned to him earlier. Performing to only a few people indeed is different. He can actually listen to the different voices singing with him.
He looks out into the crowd, making eye contact with a few different people throughout the song. He hums out a few notes before singing the chorus. “Your name isn't Rio, but I don't care for sand, lighting the fuse might result in a bang, b-b-bang, go.”
It was the closest to starstruck that Jungkook had ever felt.
His next words seem to disappear from his mouth when his eyes meet another pair of eyes at the opposite side of the room. “I don't know if you’re looking for romance or I don't know what you're looking for”
Jungkook might’ve thought for a second or two that he was in trance. He had never felt this feeling before, he hadn’t even looked properly at the other person. The man is perhaps the most handsome man Jungkook has ever laid his eyes on. His skin shines against the lighting of the room, his black hair has small curls forming at the end, his eyes hold a strong gaze and Jungkook isn’t sure that he will ever see someone like him ever again. It’s one of those moments that you might only live once in your lifetime.
Avoiding to lose the man in the middle of the crowd, Jungkook doesn’t bother to look down at his guitar strings, checking if what he is playing is the right thing. The words don’t want to come out, almost as if the mouth had been sewn.
He isn’t even looking in Jungkook’s direction after the eye contact, he is walking around and Jungkook is growing desperate. He sings but it’s not enough to get his attention. Isn’t he a fan? The vocalist can’t help but wonder as he keeps singing.
Jungkook loses sight of him.
“I wish you'd stop ignoring me because you're sending me to despair.”
He can’t find him again, the man had walked between several people and disappeared into the crowd. People jumping and cheering certainly didn’t help in the chase. Jungkook wonders if he will see him again or was it just a one-time thing.
It seems to be for the best, the lyrics that were slowly fading away in his head are now back on the tip of his tongue. The desperation to catch a glimpse of that man is taken by the voices singing along with Jungkook.
It was moments like this that made Jungkook glad he chose to pursue this career. Being in front of a few people or even thousands singing his thoughts out loud, the endless nights he stayed wide awake brainstorming lyrics and melodies had a meaning.
The three songs they were supposed to sing turned out to be five. They couldn’t ignore the requests coming their way, girls telling them to sing their favorite song or boys asking for another hit song. In the end, Jungkook’s voice screamed for water. He flips a bottle of water before opening it to take a few gulps.
Hoseok can be seen far away, cheering for them and clapping loudly as if he was a proud parent. Jin is beside him, throwing grins at them. Jungkook can only remember how earlier he mentioned free drinks, that’s where he is going to head as soon as he steps out of the stage. Yoongi and Namjoon seem to be organizing their belongings to take back to the hotel. Jungkook can sense that they will probably leave him alone at the bar to go back to the hotel. No fun.
Jungkook didn’t drink all the time, he saw it more as an activity of leisure. If it’s around then he should have a drink or two, there hasn’t been a recent event that he can recall that he got wasted. Maybe in years. Also, Hoseok asked him to avoid it for the sake of publicity. Oh, how to be caught with a bottle of Henny.
“I’m done with my stuff, I’m gonna grab something at the bar. Anyone feel like drinking something with me?” Jungkook suggests as he closes the case of his guitar and throws a few glances over to his bandmates.
“Go ahead, I’m tired and we have a show tomorrow.” Yoongi replies, not minding much of what Jungkook will do afterward.
There are a few people that approach asking for autographs or pictures, Hoseok is quick to reject the offers, not risking other people finding out about their secret show and their location. Jungkook gives them a friendly smile and it’s enough to make them stop complaining about what they didn’t get. Namjoon sends a small wave over and that’s it. They leave, thinking that no one is going to actually stay at the bar after the show. Not very likely to have celebrities roaming around, exposing themselves, at a random place. But Jungkook isn’t worried about that, he will proceed to go to the bar and then leave. Simple as that. No mystery.
Leaving through the backstage door, Jungkook hands his jacket over to Hoseok. He wipes off the droplets of sweat on his forehead as he walks through the hidden sides of the room. There are still people singing their songs, humming out loud, and a sense of pride swirls inside Jungkook.
“Night, what would you like to drink?” The bartender asks as soon as they realize someone is taking the seat in front of them at the bar. The man grabbing his drinks is young, maybe the singer’s age. Jungkook doesn’t take a neat glance at him, choosing to focus on the drinks behind him at the shelves.
“Whiskey sounds nice.”
His eyes roam through the bar, searching for his next drink or something that will grab his attention. Nothing. He notices there’s someone at the other side, near the staff entrance, and that’s it. Jungkook doesn’t think much of it. He just needs his free drinks and then he will go back to the hotel.
The music is loud but not loud enough, Jungkook can hear a shout towards his area. He tenses up, thinking it might be a fan or someone wanting to bother him but he finds himself mistaken. His bartender’s eyes widened at the name being called “Jimin! Bathroom emergency. A drunk passed out.” It’s like how positions change. Jimin rushes from behind the bar desk, switching with someone else.
Jungkook stares at his new bartender.
It’s him. It’s the person that he had spotted in the middle of his first song.
Fuck.
He looks even more handsome up close.
The singer isn’t easily out of words but this time he is speechless. What were the chances of him appearing in his front again? There’s a sly smirk starting to stamp on his face, still not believing in this. Jungkook isn’t the type to let things go, especially if they catch his eye.
“Night, the name is Taehyung, I’ll be the new bartender for the night. Jimin, the other guy- had to take care of some issues. Your whiskey will be ready in a second.” Taehyung. So that’s the name.
Jungkook is a bit underwhelmed at how none of the bartenders mentioned him being the singer that was at their stage a few minutes ago. But regardless, he finds it interesting the man in front of him and doesn’t mind that he didn’t mention anything about his band, maybe Jin had trained them to ignore and treat celebrities as normal people.
The whiskey is their next connection. Taehyung settles the glass of whiskey in front of Jungkook and then hands it over to him. It’s unavoidable how their next interaction will be, Jungkook desperately clings to that moment where their hands will touch or their eyes will meet even if it’s for a split second. He needs to make a move, at least learn what Taehyung's deal.
“Is it always crowded like this?” Jungkook asks, his voice going a bit higher so that Taehyung can know that he is talking to him.
Taehyung’s lips spread into a smile, nodding over at the singer. He leans against the desk, in front of Jungkook, hoping to speak loud enough so that they can hold a conversation. “7 days a week, the weekends are worse. Your first time?”
Jungkook wants to crack a laugh, why is Taehyung acting like he doesn’t know who he is. The place isn’t that dark, they can properly see each other’s faces. He then nods, confirming that this is his first time. Hoseok should’ve mentioned before that they have pretty bartenders, Jungkook could’ve come around sooner. “You know…” He takes a sip of his glass of whiskey, trying to have more small talk. “I was performing on stage… uh, a few minutes ago.”
“Ah!” Taehyung tilts his head as if he was remembering their songs.
“Did you like it?” Jungkook follows his moves, motioning his head against the palm of his hands and letting his elbow rest at the bar desk. He analyzes Taehyung, the way his brown hair accentuates the color of his skin, how his haircut fits him, it’s the same look that Jungkook gives when he is watching a movie or listening to a song for the first time. Fascinationcould be used to describe how he feels when similar events happen.
“It was nice, you’re the singer? Or the bassist? There’s a drummer too.” Jungkook scratches his head at the question, he just confused him with Yoongi and then Namjoon. How? He clearly didn’t pay attention to them. “Sorry, I was busy serving tables so I couldn’t properly watch you perform.”
“I am the singer.” Jungkook chuckles, giving Taehyung a pass, this time.
“From what I’ve heard today, you sing well, when am I getting a song written for me?” Taehyung jokingly asks as he pulls away from the counter.
Damn.
“Sooner than you expect.” Jungkook replies.
Taehyung doesn’t seem like one to be easily impressed but the answer grants Jungkook a stare and a curious feel in the air. He stops himself for a split second from going to another customer. Were they flirting? Perhaps that’s the question they both ask in their minds. Jungkook figures that by Taehyung’s reaction, there’s more to it than meets the eye.
Another sip of whiskey. Jungkook manages to keep his features smooth and swallows, forcing the stuff down his throat. It stings a bit as it goes but it leaves a pleasant warmth in its wake. He lifts the glass to his lips again, taking a smaller sip this time. The warmth is what keeps him going. He likes the burn as well and enjoys how violently his body reacts to the liquor.
It seems to be his only distraction because Taehyung is busy.
The whiskey goes down easier and easier each time, and the drinks keep coming from the other bartender.
“Is Taehyung going to come over?” Jungkook spurts out, not entirely sure if he should be asking about the whereabouts of someone he barely knows. He can feel Taehyung eyeing him from the other side of the bar, maybe he had even heard him asking about him, it wouldn’t surprise Jungkook if he did.
It seems to work.
“I’ll take it from here.”
As soon as the other guy leaves, Taehyung leans over once again, giving Jungkook his full attention. It makes the rockstar feel giddy and excited for what was to come. He doesn’t expect much from this, especially with his departure being in a few days. Jungkook likes to flirt though and it doesn’t kill anyone. Taehyung might have the same mindset.
Taehyung raises a curious eyebrow.
“Shouldn’t you be on your way back to the hotel? Your bandmates have left. I don’t mind you sticking around.”
“Heard I could get free drinks and a nice talk here at the bar.” Jungkook replies, taking another sip before having his glass emptied. He stares at Taehyung, who exchanges a questioning look after the mention of free drinks. He then picks up the bottle of whiskey and pours more in Jungkook’s glass, reinforcing the fact that they were free for him. “Your name is? Are you the Jungkook guy? Earlier I saw that some girls wanted a picture with you.”
“Yeah, I guess.” Jungkook awkwardly shrugs, not sure if he wants to brag about being famous. To him, he was a pretty normal and decent guy with a band. That’s it. “Are you from here? Or did you move here?”
Questions come and go. That’s how the night goes, Jungkook doesn’t recall when they both stop talking. His memories are hazy, maybe he drank more than he could. More than a few drinks, Jungkook would start talking nonsense and he is one of those people that have no filter whatsoever, tending to say what’s in their mind. Taehyung intrigued him to the point he didn’t want to go back to the hotel, there was nothing, no one, waiting for him over there. His company was way better and the limitless glasses of whiskey also contributed.
He isn’t sure what happened or how many glasses of whiskey he managed to take but he ends up waking up with the sun on his face. The rays beaming through the room, Jungkook groans loudly. There’s also a pounding in his head, the start of a hangover is the worst feeling ever. Opening his eyes, ever so slowly, Jungkook moans in pain and merely rolls over. Closing his eyes, he tried to wrest his pain away, snuggling deeper into the blankets. If he could get to sleep again, maybe the ache would disappear. But it doesn’t work.
Jungkook is quick to realize and finds that he is still in his clothes from last night. Letting out a sigh of relief, the mysterious mass of flesh shifted on the bed and Jungkook’s eyes widened.
The rockstar sits up on his bed and stares at the wall for a few seconds before snapping back to reality. He needs to get back on track, he has a show tonight and there’s tons of things he has to do before. Scratching his head, he takes a look at his room, messy as usual. Letting out a sigh of relief, a mysterious mass of flesh shifts on the bed, and Jungkook’s eyes widen. Not expecting to be with someone in bed. Jungkook’s blurry vision isn’t able to immediately process what’s in front of him. He squints his eyes and there’s a man in his bed.
Jungkook stands up quickly, not remembering the events of last night. Performance? Check. Bar? Check. Pretty boy…. Check…?
Taehyung.
His eyes widen at the lack of information given to him. He is there lying beside him the entire night, he wonders if there was any type of sexual or even romantic actions going on. He doesn’t know. The fact that Taehyung is dressed makes Jungkook more relieved. There was no intercourse.
The last thing Jungkook remembers is asking for another glass of whiskey.
Despite not knowing what to do, Jungkook stares at the man lying beautifully on his bed. His hair strands are messily over his forehead and he lets out small snores as if he was in a deep sleep. He can’t help but wonder if Taehyung will freak out by waking up in a hotel room. There’s an urge to take a picture of the moment, save it so he can remember Taehyung in another city, another show. But Jungkook holds himself back.
Jungkook jolts when someone bangs on the door. Insisting on the loud bang, he rushes to the room in hopes of not waking Taehyung up. He abruptly opens the door, sliding his face against the door and the space between the main hall.
“Fuck you want?” He furrows his brows as Namjoon stands in front of him with a puzzled look on his face, almost as if he hadn’t believed that Jungkook got up to open the door.
“I want to go over some answers for the interview we will be giving later today…” The drummer scratches his head, too nervous to even articulate well with his bandmate.
The thing is, Namjoon would rather do anything than be in the spotlight, especially with interviews. Jungkook as the main vocalist usually has to do all the talking so he’s used but this time they will be asking about Namjoon, so it’s expected of him to answer instead of the singer. When times like this come they will sit together and go through the questions and answers so that they can help each other and do a good interview. But Jungkook has Taehyung on his bed, Namjoon could’ve dropped by at any time but now.
“I’m in the middle of something now, can you come by in a few hours?”
“Jungkook, you literally just got up, let me in.” Namjoon takes a step inside Jungkook’s room.
His face becomes red, crimson spreads through his cheeks. Jungkook has to come up with something on the spot so Namjoon won’t walk in Taehyung. He pushes the drummer lightly on his chest, pushing him away from his room. “Hyung, I shat on my room… I got wasted. And it’s a mess, this is embarrassing, please leave. Let me clean everything and then we talk.”
Namjoon’s speechlessly staring at Jungkook, dumbfounded at the thought of the youngest shitting in his hotel room. “What the fuck?”
It seems to work because Namjoon backs away from the room, disgusted by the information and with an awkward expression on his face. Jungkook shuts the door and locks it quickly, unsure if the drummer will come back. Now he has to deal with the man lying on his bed.
Taehyung hasn’t changed a bit, his arms still hug onto the covers and his little snores are the only sound in the room. The singer doesn’t know how to wake him up, he can’t simply poke him, it would definitely startle him. He just stares at him before leaving for the bathroom.
The mirror is stained, there are a few drops of dye that Jungkook hadn’t cleaned from the previous day. He washes his face and brushes his teeth, the usual morning routine. His hair is messy, he can’t help but wonder if Taehyung tugged it or if it’s only his imagination. He is being out of his mind due to the pounding constantly growing. The show is later tonight and he knows he can’t walk there looking like a zombie. Willing to feel better Jungkook hits the shower.
Hair soaked and drops of water running down his body, Jungkook quickly dries himself before wrapping the towel around his torso. As he walks into the bathroom, he watches himself in the mirror. His body isn’t the slimmest but mostly because he exercises. Jungkook praises himself for doing such a thing, he takes pride in his abs and how he dedicates a few days in the week only to exercise. After finishing drying his hair, he realizes that his bag of clothes isn’t anywhere nearby. He had forgotten his clothes on his luggage next to his bed, a quick run to it wouldn’t wake Taehyung.
Without checking twice to see if Taehyung is still asleep, Jungkook shamelessly makes his way across the room. He cautiously unzips his bag and picks up his belongings, as he finishes he can hear a soft coo coming from the bed.
“Jungkook?” His name comes in a delicate whisper.
He hopes he hadn’t woken the bartender with all the showering and stepping in the room. Awkwardly, Jungkook simply stops what he is doing to check up on Taehyung. With the towel still wrapped around him, he turns around to glimpse over at him.
“Are you better?” Taehyung asks, there’s no holding back in his voice, almost as if nothing had happened and he perfectly remembers the previous night. His eyes land on Jungkook without thinking twice, he glances at the man’s body. Jungkook embarrassingly is quick to realize, pressing his hands over his chest, protecting his semi-naked body from being seen.
Taehyung’s unbothered sleepy eyes diverted from him, settling on the bed they had slept on. He sits up, stretching himself until Jungkook can form the right phrase to tell him. “Don’t worry, nothing happened.”
Jungkook arches his brow, questioning the entire situation.
“Everyone left you at the bar and I got worried because you were clearly… drunk. So Jin instructed me to take you back to the hotel. Here we are.” Taehyung yawns, not worried about Jungkook’s opinion on this. He lazily spreads himself against the bed once again, staring at the ceiling as he waits for Jungkook to say something.
“Thank you.”
Taehyung sends a smile over at him, nodding slowly at his words. The headache and the blur of memories still take over Jungkook. As he glances at Taehyung, bits of his memories return, the flashes of boxy smiles and laughs. He could hear laughter, he was laughing as well. Jungkook gives a cocky smile to himself as he picks up his clothes when he remembers the blush spreading across Taehyung’s face when he complimented him back at the bar. Ah yes, Jungkook wishes to see that again.
Shamelessly, Jungkook lets his towel down. He faces the wall so Taehyung doesn’t get any sight of his front parts. It takes less than a minute for Jungkook to dress up and pick up a water bottle from the nightstand. He reaches out for Taehyung, offering a sip, before sitting on the bed.
“You need it more than me.” Taehyung smirks, tilting his head over at Jungkook, rejecting his offer. “You’re cute when you’re drunk but don’t drink too much, it’s not good for you.”
“Cute?” Jungkook almost spits his water. How the hell is he cute? “And how am I not supposed to drink when you’re my bartender?”
“Fuck... you really got me there. I wouldn't be able to contain myself if I was my bartender.” Taehyung chuckles, playing along with the rockstar.
Jungkook rubs the back of his head and seems to be avoiding Taehyung’s line of sight. He notices him shifting on his bed, crawling close to his figure. It was so strange and amusing at the same time to talk to someone that met his energy, most people would simply ignore his flirting comments or talk away from it but Taehyung, he talks back. It’s easy to get flustered. Jungkook likes him.
“Are you free tonight?” Jungkook turns the frame of his body in Taehyung’s direction, plopping his hands on the bed.
“I might be.” Taehyung replies. His eyes swing up as if he was trying to remember his agenda.
“Come to my show, there are a few spare tickets and you know me… so easy access.” Jungkook offers, not holding back at the fact that he wants to make a move. Being with Taehyung later that night would be perfect because he likes him and somewhere deep down Jungook knows that he will probably never see him again since he doesn’t often visit Japan so this is his only chance.
Taehyung grins at the invite, nodding at the idea of attending a show for free.
They are at the perfect place for the rockstar to tilt and steal a kiss or two. Jungkook only stares at the man’s lips, imagining what would be like kissing him. Taehyung seems to realize because he slowly licks his lips in a teasing way, playing around with the singer. There’s chemistry, more than Jungkook could ever think and he is soberly aware of it now. He is glad that Taehyung took him back to the hotel and even though the sight of waking up next to a semi-stranger surprised him he enjoyed it.
Meanwhile, Taehyung’s eyes roam through Jungkook’s body. The younger man still hadn’t put on a proper shirt and the bartender analyzed his chest, his stomach, and his arms. Tilting his head, his orbs land on Jungkook’s tattoos. There were many. He had tattoo sleeves on both arms and his chest was almost entirely covered, maybe a few more and that would be it.
Jungkook let’s him watch, not covering himself as he did back then. He entangles his fingers on his hair strands, pushing it back. His blue hair was still vivid, contrasting with his skin tone, he looked even more handsome.
“You’re a work of art, quite literally.” Taehyung lets out as he finishes looking at the tattoos.
“Don’t you have any?”
Taehyung shakes his head. “I’m a blank canvas.”
Jungkook discreetly glances over to him, checking if what he said was in fact true.
In a matter of seconds, Taehyung grabs a pen from one of his pockets. It’s a black sharpie and he takes off the lid with his mouth, slowly reaching over to Jungkook’s body. “May I?”
The nod the singer proceeds to give is full of doubt, unsure of what is happening. It takes no longer than a few seconds for Jungkook to notice how the tip of the pen strokes his skin. He doesn’t glance at it right away and when he does, there’s a drawing in an empty space on his arm.
Taehyung had drawn on him.
“Better than any Picasso, don’t you agree?”
It’s an odd drawing, not a heart or a star, which are the things that most people go for when drawing. It’s a face, only composed of a nose, mouth and eyes. There’s a nosebleed going on and Jungkook can only take notice of it when Taehyung mentions it. It’s odd but Jungkook thinks it suits the collection of tattoos he has on that arm.
“I should get going then.” Taehyung groans lazily as he finally stands up.
Jungkook wishes the bartender could stay, spend the morning being lazy with him in bed. There’s no intimacy yet but the singer notices how the air shifted when Taehyung woke up, the feelings he had when drunk were back and it was weird but a good type of weird. He doesn’t want to insist on having him around, he must be busy throughout the day, doing whatever the bartenders do. But he wishes he would stay.
“After the show, we can hang out… what do you think?” Jungkook proposes another idea, not too fond of simply letting Taehyung leave after his concert. He wants time alone with him, he wants to talk to him, get to know him better. “Up for some pizza?”
“Sure, there’s this really good pizza place I know… If you feel like hanging out there.” Taehyung suggests.
Jungkook nods, agreeing to whatever plan Taehyung already has in his head. He knows the city more than him and a hangout to get to know more places seemed like a good plan. He wishes time could fly. He loves to perform but he always wants to hang out with the other man as soon as possible.
“Okay, so it’s a date.” Taehyung blurts out as he steps out of the door.
A date? Jungkook didn’t mind, not at all. But the implications of that word… Did he only mean that because it would be a one-and-one type of hangout? If the dates went wrong, the other one most of the time don't reach out again and even if he knew Taehyung for a couple of hours, he definitely wants to know more about what’s his deal. Something captivated and lured Jungkook to him.
Jungkook wasn’t a bad company for a date, in fact, he would go to several depending on his mood. Some worked out while others clearly mentioned that they were only standing listening to him talk because of his name. He was also a natural flirt, easily finding his way into the heart of those that he greatly pursued.
As soon as Taehyung leaves, Jungkook already misses him. The entire date mentioned poisoned his thoughts. It’s early to think about romantic events with the bartender but the singer has always been a sucker for romance, imagining numerous situations in his head, and with Taehyung, it was no different.
Now it was time for him to get ready for another show and… a date.
~
The interview goes well and throughout the entire thing Namjoon sends rejection glances over at Jungkook, reminiscing his morning actions. Their agenda is big for tonight and Jungkook has already drunk a bottle of tea for his hangover. The house is supposed to be full for their concert and Jungkook wants to deliver an energetic performance, mostly because he knows Taehyung will be around.
In the backstage, Yoongi is having a feast, french fries fly to his mouth and to his ketchup sauce. His fingers are greasy and Jungkook has to sit somewhere away so that the bassist doesn’t clean on it. He has his phone in his pocket and there’s an urge to text or call Taehyung to know if he is around.
“You three, the show starts in five minutes.” Hoseok informs them as he checks his watch one last time.
The instruments are already on the stage, their only job is to deliver a show. Jungkook goes through a few lyrics and greetings in Japanese. He repeats it to himself numerous times, making sure his pronunciation is correct. Wrapping his mind around these words, he leaves to go to the stage, without worrying if Taehyung will arrive or not.
The concert hall reverberates with energy.
The curtains aren’t up but Jungkook can already listen to the chants, his name being cheered on, and the request for their hidden songs. Every show is the same but in a different place but Jungkook can’t get used to it, to him, it’s always something new. It feels like his dream is in a loop.
Effortless power glimmers in their eyes as they watch the curtains being pulled up.
The drummer, the green-haired man with piercings, flexes his muscles and taps his foot twice. On cue, the slender, black-haired bassist picks several slow lines, fingers dancing over the thick strings with a grace belying the song’s complication. The guitarist and also vocal singer is quick to grab the night, shouting the name of the city. The response of the crowd takes incentive and strikes up a quick, powerful rhythm, from him.
Through their songs, they speak about love, heartbreaks and feeling young, the neglect, and all the feelings one goes through during teenage ages. Jungkook as he sings, his vocal cords are powerful and the veins from his neck tense up, become evident
His blue hair falls into his face, head tossing back, his shirt starts drenching with sweat and his heartbeat starts going up. Jungkook bites his lip as he strums his guitar a little too roughly. The crowd goes insane as the setlist keeps getting better, hit after hit.
A thin trail of sweat runs down the singer’s neck over his chest. For a few moments, silence fills the hall after a bridge. “And I love that little game you had called crying lightning.”
Strumming mindlessly on his electric guitar, Jungkook listens to the crowd singing alone and there’s a slick smile on his face as he enjoys it.
During one of the songs, Jungkook picks up the bottle of water, takes a sip and then pours it over his sweaty head. When he looks up from the bottle, he finds the person he had been longing for the longest time. Taehyung is at the exclusive section of the concert hall and Jungkook realizes that he is swearing his band tee. Fuck. He looks even prettier.
Taehyung doesn’t realize Jungkook has noticed him, the bartender looks confused as he stares at the fight going on in the crowd.
“This is the last song.” The singer gives the crowd a timid smile as he leans closer to the mic. He charmingly looks into the crowd, trying to make the most eye contact with everyone. “Do you guys know the song Dangerous Animals?” He gives in their surprise last song.
The audience goes crazy again and it’s their cue to start playing.
“Been fighting with my sheets, and nearly crying in my sleep…”
The sound waves of the electric guitar are evident in Jungkook’s mind, it almost feels like he is playing inside a video game. The sweat glistened on his skin, drenching his sleeveless t-shirt so much that his abs can be seen through. His heavy breathing also gives away how tired he is when he performs the last song. The audience chants for more, they always do.
The last songs always go by quickly, in a blink of an eye, they are wrapping things up. Saying goodbye to the crowd always feels good because their reaction is the confirmation that they gave a great performance. The fans call them for more songs but it’s over, the band is exhausted. As soon as they rush to the backstage, the staff circles them, pampering and drying them with towels.
Jungkook repeatedly brushes a strand of hair out of his face, and Yoongi has his right hand clenched around a portion of his shirt, which is full of sweat. Namjoon is already shirtless. Mid-show the drummer takes his shirt off, earning compliments from the crowd, since then no shirts for him.
Panting, he takes a seat to calm himself. Jungkook watches as the staff come and go as he regains energy. The manager collects them to get in the van so they can go back to the hotel but Jungkook has to wait, he had given one of the staff instructions to bring Taehyung backstage after the show. He anxiously awaits him, remembering how good-looking he seemed to be from far away and the band tee he is wearing, why did it do wonders on Taehyung?
Everyone that came through the door was received with a glance from Jungkook, the hopes of Taehyung being the next one walking by only grew inside of Jungkook. When did he ever feel this way over someone? Especially someone he had met the other night.
The minutes seem hours inside of Jungkook’s head, he wants to leave, go back to the hotel, take a decent bath and just go to sleep but there are so many other plans. Plans that involve Taehyung. It’s when he catches himself thinking imaginary scenarios that the door opens and the one that steps inside is Taehyung. His gaze diverts snapping back to reality and he instantly stands up to greet him.
“Hey, rockstar.” Taehyung teases as he gives him a cute small smile. “Look, I’m your number one fan.” He points out his shirt with the band logo on it.
“Did you enjoy the show?” Jungkook's first instinct is to reach out for Taehyung’s hand, wanting to pull him down to the couch so they can have a proper conversation but he pulls his hand away. He doesn’t want Taehyung to feel awkward around him.
If only Taehyung was the most naive person ever he would totally miss out on Jungkook's attempt but he isn’t. He sits down and pulls Jungkook down too, not afraid of what the singer might think of it.
“Your fans are really wild, they fucking got in a fight in the middle of nowhere… gosh. But the show was impressive, I didn’t know you were this big or that you sang so well. When am I supposed to give you tickets to my show?” Taehyung jokingly asks at the end, giving out a genuine smile.
The climate in the backstage room turns out to be a lot colder when Jungkook is back to his full senses, not dripping sweat or panting. He manages to pull a hoodie as Taehyung talks to him. There’s even a fast clench from the bartender, helping him wear it.
The talk seems to not stop between them, either it’s teasing or a compliment. Jungkook had many people compliment his songs and voice but not so directly as Taehyung is doing. He is a sucker for compliments and if he could he would stay the entire night listening to them but there’s another thought lingering in his head. The date. Can Taehyung simply just announce to him that they are finally heading out?
“They are going to kick us out.” Jungkook jokes while looking around at the staff organizing their stuff so that they can call it a day.
“Let’s get going then… the pizza parlor is nearby so we can walk, is that okay with you?”
“Yes, I’ll follow you then.” Jungkook answers, he gradually gets up and takes one last look around to see if he isn’t forgetting anything. Wallet? Check. Phone? Check. All ready.
On a day just like any other. This is the time where business is booming in the biggest cities in Japan. The billboards and lights beam through the streets, the crowded lots of people walking from one place to the other. The air is frisky, making the night pleasant to walk around. Jungkook spots a few of his fans walking out of the concert avenue, back into their daily lives. Taehyung even points over to a group, sharing a story about how they acted throughout the show. It did in fact steal smiles from Jungkook, who was amused to learn the impression his fans had on Taehyung. “There was this one… facetiming the show to someone else, not sure if that’s allowed but the idea was pretty cool.”
The pizza parlor isn’t far at all, just like Taehyung had said, it was way closer than Jungkook thought. The place had a dine decoration to it, setting the whole theme back to the 60s. Somehow it made Jungkook feel giddy, like a child walking in a themed park. He follows Taehyung in, who already knows his way around.
The place was not empty but no one seemed to keep up with who walked in so Jungkook didn’t stress over people recognizing him. They eventually find a more private table to sit on at the back of the restaurant. Jungkook takes his place in front of Taehyung and adjusts himself against his seat.
“I think my 20th birthday celebration was here…” Taehyung recalls, looking up as if he was trying to give Jungkook precise, correct information.
“My 20th birthday.. I celebrated in Lotte World.” Jungkook replies, remembering the picture he took when he was there. He then immediately asks if Taehyung knows about the Korean-themed park since he has no idea if Taehyung was born in South Korea or he simply knows the language because of family. “It’s a really famous theme park in Korea-”
Taehyung lets out a giggle.
“I know, I think my father took me there when I was little.”
“Oh, I thought you lived here your entire life… I don’t know. Why are you in Japan then?” Jungkook is curious, more than ever. He knows there are people from every nationality in every country but getting to know their background story was interesting and with Taehyung that was no exception.
“My grandparents found financial stability in one of the suburban cities here in Japan… they were already a bit old to fully move to another country and be alone so I ended up moving in with them, to help.” Taehyung seems to be remembering sweet moments, his voice has a long-lasting bittersweetness to it. “My parents are in Daegu… I just haven’t found the time and money to visit them every year.” He adds.
“Ah, you are your grandparent’s lucky charm then.” Jungkook rests his cheek on one of his knuckles as he talks to Taehyung.
“You can put it that way.” Taehyung answers, satisfied with the words used to describe his relationship with his grandparents.
The waiter is fast to attend to them, taking notes of their orders and already rushing back into the kitchen. The restaurant seems to be dealing greatly with its customers, having every minute or so, a waiter dashing through them to deliver food. The smell also helps and if they could, the couple would already be devouring an entire pizza.
Upon receiving the pizza, in between small talk about their lives, they spark new ideas for the night. Not wanting it to end and having them part ways, Jungkook is quick to bring up a more comfy type of hangout, where they don’t need to do much besides talking to each other. With a slice of pizza in their mouths, suggestions surface on the table and they decide on how the night will end for the two of them. “We can just go back to my hotel, get a few drinks… let’s take the rest of the slices.” Jungkook points to the rest of the pizza slices sitting on top of the plate.
“That’s a better plan, my idea to go take a walk in the park… what was I thinking?” Taehyung chuckles as he wraps up with one of the pizza slices, munching on it.
“We could do that, I-” Jungkook asks himself for a moment if he is being too much. They weren’t even close to each other for him to be saying these things out loud. Swallowing his thoughts, he reaches for the glass of water in front of him.
“Tell me.” Taehyung sweetly says, not demanding or pleading, much more interested and curious in what Jungkook was going to tell him before backing away from it.
“It’s nothing.” He shakes his head. “I just don’t want this night to end so quickly, is it weird?” There’s a faint chuckle escaping from his lips, hoping he didn’t say anything wrong. “I didn’t mean-”
“No, I don’t want it to end either.” Taehyung replies.
It’s back at the hotel that Jungkook is able to clean himself, throwing his soaked shirt on his pile of dirty clothes, he takes a step in the shower. The other man is holding one of the left-over pizzas on his left hand, waiting for Jungkook to come back. The day seems endless and Jungkook certainly wants to keep it that way. He wants to have the entire night for him and Taehyung, even if it’s for a chit-chatter. The singer doesn’t recall having so much fun and enjoying knowing someone else. The bartender was cute, fun and was similar to him in many ways. Has he gone mad?
All dressed up in more comfy clothes, Jungkook takes a step out of the bathroom after taking a quick shower. It’s colder than before so he wears an oversized hoodie and some sweatpants. He notices Taehyung’s eyes landing on him when he walks back to the main area of the room, near his bed.
“Someone is smelling good.” Taehyung teases as he sniffs his nose up in the air, playing around with Jungkook. “There’s the last slice of pizza.” Taehyung hums as he picks it up and points it over to it. He takes a small bite before extending it towards Jungkook’s figure, offering him the slice.
Jungkook is close to Taehyung, way closer than yesterday. He can actually feel their thighs touching each other as they sit next to each other. Jungkook can’t say no to the offer, he is still hungry so he leans in, taking a bite from the slice. “Easy there.” It seems to amuse Taehyung, who chuckles here and there at the attempts of the pizza being eaten. And once they are done with the whole game surrounding pizza, Jungkook’s gaze lands on Taehyung’s face.
It’s flustering.
“You’re really pretty, did you know that?.” Jungkook’s voice comes in a whisper. The truth is that there’s only the two of them in the room, there’s no need for loud talking. A smile also appears on his face, pleased at the situation they were in. “The moment I spotted you I couldn’t take you off of my mind, am I being cheesy?”
“No, I liked it.” Taehyung blurts out slightly embarrassed.
That might be the moment that Taehyung could take advantage of the slice of pizza and hit it against Jungkook in an attempt to stop the flirting but there’s no pizza or anything kinda getting in their way.
The singer notices how red Taehyung had gotten out of his confession. He attentively watches him as he whispers a soft thanks over at him. He is too adorable and Jungkook isn’t sure if he can hold back any longer. Is he going too fast? It’s not like he wouldn’t mind doing the whole friends to lovers thing first but there’s an instant connection there, or at least that’s what Jungkook thinks. In his head, the scenarios were way more of strangers to lovers kind of situation when he glanced at Taehyung. There’s no pushing back or complaint from the bartender though so the singer can only think that he might be feeling the same way regarding the both of them.
Jungkook’s hands slide up from the bed, where he had been supporting his body all along, and they find their way in the crest of Taehyung’s neck. He feels warm and welcoming as his body slowly inches closer to him. His fingers reach his cheeks, stroking on it slowly. Taehyung seems to be giving in as he places his hand over Jungkook’s and tilting slowly his head towards it like a soft kitten.
“Jungkook, please just kiss me.” Taehyung pleads in a calm voice, not showing any signs of desperation.
There's a beat where Taehyung is completely still before Jungkook leans forward to kiss him.
His lips are soft. Gosh, how Jungkook wishes he could sink into his lips.
Their tongues slide against each other and Jungkook at any given second he deepenings the kiss, feeling Taehyung invade his mouth even more. The hands from the older boy find themselves roaming through the singer’s hoodie, tugging at any opportunity to get closer to him. It’s when they are both out of breath that Taehyung slowly pulls away only to slam Jungkook back on the bed, this time with his entire body on top of the mattress.
To Jungkook it seems that he jumped many steps, from the first kiss to this, but he would rather let their feelings guide them than their reasoning. He doesn’t quite matter.
Taehyung’s hands work their way around his body, feeling each crevasse, each line along with his perfect physique, and Jungkook is given the same access. Squeezing Taehyung’s waist, he pulls him on top of him, bringing his lips and body closer to his.
He climbs up on top of Jungkook and lands his lips on his, kissing him passionately as their bodies move in sync. He then bites lightly at Jungkook’s jaw, moving down to kiss and suck at his neck. Jungkook tugs on his lover’s hair, pulling it softly to accompany his motion.
Fuck. Jungkook thinks as he starts feeling his member growing hard down there. He isn’t sure if Taehyung is up to this, maybe it’s too soon, maybe it’s too much. He mumbles a few curse words as the bartender grinds on him while leaving a trail of hickeys on his neck.
“Tae… Taehyung.” Jungkook’s moans appear to be a soft whisper.
“Jungkook.” Taehyung whispers next to his ear before softly landing his lips once again on Jungkook’s.
The singer slowly kisses him, giving in passionately and trying to fill his entire being with Taehyung’s presence. Having him nearby meant a lot, being with Taehyung felt like finding his missing part. Jungkook wishes the drinking last night had fooled him but no, it’s all about Taehyung. It has almost been about him since their eyes landed on each other.
Their tension is building up and the room seems to be getting hotter, Jungkook isn’t sure but he decides to reach out to the ends of his hoodie to take it off in one go. Adjusting for them to remain in the same position but more comfortably, Jungkook shifts to the headboard, sitting with his back against it while holding Taehyung on his lap.
The view is pretty, Jungkook strokes Taehyung’s hair out of his face, leaving small pecks against his lips. The older boy’s hands roam through Jungkook’s chest and then his arms, stopping at the place he drew a small face on before. It’s the small actions that make the singer become soft for him. He is quick to slide his thumb under Taehyung’s chin, pulling him lightly back to his face so he can remain kissing the shit out of him.
Jungkook teasingly drags his teeth against Taehyung’s bottom lip, biting it softly while he slides his fingers against the boy’s thin waist, gripping on it softly.
It doesn’t take long for Taehyung to strip his clothes, sitting on Jungkook’s lap bare naked. Taehyung’s legs find themselves between Jungkook’s thighs, he straddles him firmly making sure he won’t let go of him again. Kissing him slowly as he migrates his hands up from his tattooed chest around his neck. Taehyung has total control of him. He presses his body into his, grinding as he desperately tries to close any gap between them.
The rockstar’s hands roam through his body, caressing each detail.
Taehyung is a blank canvas that Jungkook wants to paint on.
Jungkook's thoughts are everywhere, he wants to make sure that they are both okay with the idea of having sex after barely knowing each other. He recalls telling him that he isn't a person that can commit to relationships, at least not while he is on tour, and Taehyung wasn't surprised, he didn't make it a big deal. Perhaps that was the sign Jungkook had to keep on having his hands all over his body, his mouth on his, and their bodies moving in sync. Taehyung really turned him on.
"Please just fuck me, Jungkook." Taehyung mouths against the rockstar's lips.
It sounds sinful and Jungkook is being filled with lust as they grind against each other. One of his hands meets his boxer, sliding underneath it so he can squeeze Taehyung's asscheek. The bartender presses himself against the singer's hands for a quick second before pulling away from his lips and lowering himself on Jungkook's lap.
Jungkook watches as Taehyung gently pulls his sweatpants down, stroking his bulge. Taehyung teases him, eyeing him from down there as he fiddles his hand against his underwear. It's when Jungkook lets a moan escape from his mouth that the brown-haired boy slips the blue-haired boy's member from his boxer, letting it rest for a brief moment against his stomach. It was evident that Taehyung had done a good job turning him on.
With the rhythm of the night, Taehyung presses his mouth along Jungkook's member, slowly taking it in his mouth. Jungkook's fingers cradle his lover's hair, having him lower his head every time he pulls a little more roughly.
His mouth is sinful, doing the devil's work on Jungkook's body. It's so pleasurable that Jungkook lets out a bit of pre-cum.
"Fuck, Taehyung."
As much as the rockstar loves to have Taehyung's mouth wrapped around his length, he wants to be inside him, he wants to have the other boy on his lap or spread throughout his bed full-on naked. He wants all of him.
His fingers roughly pull Taehyung's hair back, having his mouth pop a sound against his length when he is forced to face Jungkook. The expression on Taehyung's face and the little moans he gives when he stares at Jungkook is enough to have the singer pull his body frame back to the original position, on his lap. This time Taehyung's body grinds against Jungkook's naked one. In between kisses and moans, Jungkook is eager to take off Taehyung's boxer, throwing it on the opposite side of the bed.
The hands of the singer rest on Taehyung's ass, squeezing it and playing with it as he grinds against him. Their members stroke each other as their bodies move together. Despite having different body frames they seem to fit each other and Jungkook finds it perfect how delicate Taehyung is sitting on him, who has a more intimidating body, full of tattoos and defined muscles. Manhandling Taehyung wasn't something that was on Jungkook's list but it did sound compelling and Taehyung did enjoy it.
It doesn't take long for Jungkook to grab an aloe vera lotion that he had on his nightstand, that seemed to work fine as a lube. Doing so he wants nothing more than to spread Taehyung and has him ready. Jungkook's fingers circle his rim with it and the older boy lets out a small mewl, adjusting to the liquid. He then slightly squirms when he feels Jungkook's fingers in him, slowly going in and out. He holds himself on the singer's shoulders, pushing his bum against Jungkook's motion. The sounds he makes seem to be desperate as if he had been dying to have something more in him.
Jungkook's fingers eventually slide out and Taehyung is unquiet, whispering begs over to the singer. He curses under his breath as he grinds against Jungkook.
The rockstar's fingers are upon his small waist, motioning it against his length. Taehyung decides to take matters in his hand, sliding his hand on Jungkook's member and adjusting it on his entrance. The action steals a smirk from the singer, who was willing to follow up with their sex.
“Jungkook…” Taehyung lets out a heavy breath when he feels Jungkook's length invading his tight walls.
Jungkook holds his waist firmly, keeping his body down on him. Their rhythm is slow and steady, it’s passionate almost as if they both were taking their own time to feel all spasms, pleasure, and their bodies together. Filling him up slowly, Taehyung lets out a loud moan, adjusting to Jungkook's size. He wraps his arm around the back of the singer's neck and clenches his fists as he responds to the small thrusts Jungkook is starting to give him.
The blue-haired boy can clearly notice by Taehyung's expression how he is holding himself back from moaning against his lips. The smirk comes back to his lips as his feelings start guiding them. He then slams his mouth on Taehyung when he thrust deeper, filling him completely up. The bartender's moans are silenced by their tongues sliding against his other.
Riding slow and steady only to be slammed by Jungkook's fierce thrusts is what makes Taehyung more excited, each time, keeping up with the singer's energy as their bodies motion against each other. Taehyung rolls his eyes in pleasure, letting moans invade the hotel room. It's almost as if the singer never gets tired.
His mouth on Taehyung's neck also doesn't help. Jungkook grazes his teeth against his skin, suckles against it, and leaves a trail of hickeys. It's exciting especially when he does everything while still keeping the same pace. His hands around him also help. Taehyung feels like combusting at each pounce.
Lost in each other’s eyes, they relax, slip into an almost-trance of pushing and pulling against each other, breathing the same breaths, fingers eventually lacing together. Jungkook has felt like this before. He stares at the prettiest person, he is on his lap, taking him slowly and moaning out his name so loosely as if it was a curse.
"Jungkook... I'm going to-"
It takes mere seconds for Jungkook to also cum.
Letting a soft panting out, he drapes his arms around Taehyung, holding him close. The last thing he wants is him to think this is a one-time thing, that he will kick him out after having sex with him. He hopes Taehyung hadn't bought the whole jerk rockstar agenda, the one that uses people when they want and gets away with it.
A timid smile settles on Taehyung's lip and Jungkook wishes he hadn't seen it because he is compelled to kiss him again and never stop. How did he find such a beautiful man? He gently swaps away a few loose hair strands getting on Taehyung's forehead, only to softly cup his cheek, caressing it tenderly. The feeling of being enamored by him takes over Jungkook.
As their lips crush together, Jungkook feels like walking on air. His mouth was so warm, the caress of his lips softer than Jungkook could have imagined. He feels Taehyung deepens the kiss each time, having Jungkook all for himself. His hands roaming through his body, appreciating every curve and detail. There are no sexual intentions in Jungkook's mind anymore, his hands only long for a masterpiece that's on his bed.
The kiss became slower and moving in perfect sync was the perfect opportunity for Jungkook to exchange a small smile on his lips.
“Can you stay the night…?” Jungkook asks against his lips as he starts to pull away.
The confirmation comes in a soft nod.
It's in a couple of minutes that Jungkook offers something else for them to do during the night. It's still early for them to be falling asleep. He tilts his head while suggesting a movie for them to watch. By the time they are watching a movie together, they both have already cleaned themselves and have on most of their clothes back on. Jungkook chooses to remain shirtless while Taehyung is without any pants, alleging that he takes a while to put them back on since they are skinny ones.
In between sheets, they set their eyes on the television in front of them. It's a movie inspired by someone's life, Jungkook wouldn't know, he didn't pay attention when he made his choice. Taehyung doesn't contest, quietly, he attentively watches the movie.
"You're leaving tomorrow?" Taehyung interrupts Jungkook's attention, whispering the question as if he was genuinely curious to know the singer's plans.
"Yeah, we are going to Tokyo in the afternoon." Jungkook answers. His eyes settle on Taehyung once again and there's a brief silence, almost as if Taehyung was thinking of what to say. There was nothing to say, that was it.
"You'll have fun there, the nightlife is great." A pensive expression stamps his face.
"I usually just stay in, not very interested in outer things. I'm more of a stay-at-home kinda person, so during tours, I get to go to many different countries but it's hard to go around, especially when you're jetlagged."
"If you're bored or not doing much you can always call me… or simply book another night at this room." Taehyung suggests, pointing out his phone on top of the nightstand. “505, the room number? Yeah.” He lets out a quick chuckle as his hands then reach out for Jungkook's chest, resting it against it and having the singer pull the bartender closer.
"Oh, I will." Jungkook gives him a sly smile, not meant to be sexual or full of second intentions. He goes along with Taehyung's suggestions, teasing him as he enjoys the company of the other one.
Jungkook tilts his head a little as he listens to Taehyung spilling his thoughts, humming a little. “I don't think you can easily forget me and if you do, you're not one to step in Kyoko again.” He summarises, raising an eyebrow and seeing Jungkook nodding a little, slightly intimidated by the comment. He told himself that there was no such thing as forgetting Taehyung.
Taehyung wasn't one to forget.
His hands kept moving over his skin, teasingly, as he noted carefully how Taehyung reacted to certain touches, finding the sensitive spots and the ticklish spots. The movie wasn't as interesting as Taehyung. Jungkook knows that they won't be able to see each other so soon.
Jungkook’s hands moved, wandering lower, down to Taehyung's thighs that were against his figure. He gently squeezes the skin, fingers stroking it lightly as the thighs twitch in his hold. One hand remains there, teasing the skin, while the other slides from the thigh to his lower abdomen, rubbing lightly the skin there before moving down, once again running along the elastic waistband of his underwear. Taehyung's skin is soft and delicate, the hickeys left on his neck also are evident and the singer feels content with himself whenever he catches a glimpse of them.
Taehyung runs his hands through Jungkook's chest and then up to his neck, gently cupping the side of his cheeks only to trace his fingers swiftly down his jaw. It's with a peck that Taehyung seals their lips together.
Jungkook can't help but think that's domestic, not that he minds but he can see his past relationships on Taehyung's little actions here and there. He isn't treating Jungkook as a one-night stand, as a celebrity that goes around having several lovers, and it's starting to come to senses how much he fits Jungkook and vice-versa.
"You wouldn't be the type of person to abandon your job to go on tour with me, would you?" Jungkook proposes, letting out a chuckle at the absurd question. Taehyung is also having a few laughs, not very amused by the idea of letting everything behind for a man he met a few days ago.
"Jungkook, you're really dreamy but no, I can’t just abandon everything but if you write me a song, who knows..." He teases, placing a soft kiss upon his lips, feeling warm and content in his arms.
Something about sleeping beside Taehyung and having to place his arms around him felt good and at times like this Jungkook wishes, he could simply freeze time, not letting anyone or anything bother them. Jungkook was a sucker for Taehyung.
Enveloped by the sheets and Taehyung, Jungkook ends up falling asleep. The sound of the movie seems to be the perfect lullaby for his energetic persona to calm down and enter a different state. The morning hangover, the interviews, the concert, and a late-night with Taehyung certainly tired him.
While asleep he does feel a light weight on his lips, small kisses Taehyung gave him the entire night, and for what? Jungkook can't remember if he dreamt or had a nightmare but he knows that he doesn't want whatever they have to end after he leaves. The extra amount of affection surely doesn't help the situation.
Unlike the previous morning, Jungkook wakes up by himself. The curtains are tightly closed so that no ray of sun can escape through them. He lets out a small yawn, fighting on the idea of going back to sleep. Jungkook turns his head, Taehyung lay there one eye half-open, sleep tousled, lips parted. How he wished to take the older boy on tour with him, have him stay with him for the longest second.
His thighs are also dreamy, Jungkook motions his head towards them, not entirely sure of his own plans regarding the pretty boy on his bed. But how good would Taehyung feel to be woken up with kisses, caresses? Was it too much?
Jungkook’s mind travels around the thought of listening to him moan once again, whispering his name. The temptation is there and Taehyung seems to comply with every touch Jungkook places against his skin, the bartender isn’t fully asleep, he seems to murmur sweet nothings when fingers touch his waist. It’s up to Jungkook to slowly make his way down to Taehyung’s lower body, his hands follow his body motion and in a short time, the tip of Jungkook’s fingers trail the bartender’s length.
It seems to grow hard quickly under a few touches, Jungkook smirks amused at how Taehyung works well with him, conducting him around with no problem. Eventually, he plops the tip of his member out of his underwear, having it lay against his stomach as he grows harder.
“Jungkook…” Taehyung’s whispers come out as a moan.
Morning handjobs were certainly not in Jungkook’s list of things to do in Japan.
The singer’s hand crept lower with each soft caress, his hands stroking slowly the bartender’s length as he earns low moans from him. Jungkook can’t seem to take his eyes off of him, how he moves under his hands and how he motions at each stroke. Taehyung is fully awake. It doesn’t take long for the one with the blue hair to also start growing hard.
The moment he senses Taehyung’s member oozing cum, he finishes him off, granting a satisfactory moan from him. “Turn around.” He whispers as he now places his hands over Taehyung's waist, shifting him carefully around. The sleepyhead complies happily, placing his head against the pillow and leaving his bum facing the ceiling. Jungkook is easy to please and he also doesn’t want to exhaust Taehyung even more.
His hands roam his bum, squeezing it and bringing it closer to him. He slightly lifts it up, having Taehyung bend over against his bed frame. The grip on the sheet is visible to him, who simply watches the bartender prepare himself for another round before breakfast. There are comforting words coming from him, pleading Jungkook to finish off, have one last fuck before they can fully dress up and leave. “Fuck me slow… please?”
Jungkook melts with Taehyung, he gently positions himself after spreading lube against him and in a glimpse of an eye, he spreads Taehyung ready, thrusting into him slowly. He feels Taehyung once again adjusting to his size, his hole clenching around him as he starts pounding against him. Taehyung's open mouth moans against the pillow as the pounding becomes deeper.
There’s no doubt that Taehyung feels overwhelmed whenever Jungkook plays around with him. Jungkook wishes he could keep on hearing Taehyung say his name over and over, there’s something about the chanting of his name when he has a pretty person under him that makes him feel even better. He handles the man carefully, pulling him towards him for some seconds only to circle his arms around his waist and have him there glued to him. Taehyung’s body moves along with Jungkook’s, their lips meet briefly as they try not to moan against each other’s mouth.
“Slower… and deeper…” Taehyung slurs as he closes his eyes, feeling Jungkook fill him up with each stroke.
It’s when Jungkook starts feeling the pressure to cum that he picks up the pace, having Taehyung’s body slap against his until he cums undone inside of him. “Fuck.”
Their bodies meet the mattress, resting against it until one of them is able to say anything. Taehyung’s face rests against the pillow, he seems unbothered by the circumstances, perhaps even falling back to sleep at one point. Meanwhile, Jungkook is imagining hundreds of scenarios in his head, hoping that he is able to have Taehyung with him all the time, would that be too much to ask? He covers the bartender and lays a timid kiss on top of his head as he excuses himself to the shower.
Is it odd to become attached so quickly to someone they met a few days ago? Jungkook scrubs his body as he lets the shower water pour over him. He shouldn’t be thinking much of it or else he knows he’ll have Taehyung live in his mind 24 hours after leaving Japan, sanity wouldn’t be his best friend if that happened.
There’s a hum right outside of the bathroom, Jungkook picks on the short melody, replaying in his head as he wraps himself with a towel. The blue dye stains the hotel towel as he quickly shakes the droplets of water out of his hair.
His phone blows up at the corner of the bathroom counter, full of messages incoming from Hoseok and the rest of the bandmates that want to know why he hadn’t appeared for breakfast and all the other things they planned. With a simple “I’m not in the mood” text back, his phone goes silent. Hoseok wasn’t the type to obligate him to participate in everything and his bandmates were already used to him staying in for the rest of the day.
Stepping out of the bathroom, he eyes Taehyung sitting at the edge of the bed. His clothes are already on his body and he casually checks his phone, not minding Jungkook's entrance.
“I have to go… Jimin covered for me last night, I’m getting his next shift in an hour or so.” Taehyung nonchalantly informs, yawning as he slides his fingers through his hair. He then catches Jungkook’s eyes on him, tilting his head cutely over in his direction. “Now, whenever you feel like coming to Japan… you know you can stay at my house, it’s a small studio but you know, I’m there.” He teases.
Jungkook swears he heard a shutter click as if Taehyung was taking a picture of him without him noticing. Deciding not to bring it up, he diverts his attention back to what they were talking about.
“You’re inviting me now... So don’t regret when I actually appear at your house.” Jungkooks lets out a small chuckle, amused at the idea of randomly showing up at Taehyung’s place.
“Unless I’m dead, I won’t regret it.” Taehyung motions himself up, giving himself one more stretch before sliding his hands to the ends of his pocket.
Jungkook doesn’t say anything upon spotting the evident hickeys he left on Taehyung. He mentally takes a note to also do that the next time they meet, somehow it looks pretty on him. He awkwardly stands at the other side of the room, not knowing if he should finally say goodbye or what. He wasn’t used to this. “Tell Jimin I said hi.” He mentions.
“Will do.” Taehyung takes a few steps towards the door. “I’ll leave you to dress yourself up…”
“Yeah, okay. In a few minutes, my manager will probably burst inside of my room.” Jungkook replies, giving in, hoping to not end things awkwardly between them.
“Good luck with that.” Taehyung gives him a sweet smile as he takes a few steps towards the bedroom’s door. He then gives a few last glances over his shoulder, eyeing Jungkook from far away.
There’s something that Jungkook can’t let go of, he feels impotent and not sure what to do with this situation. With a towel wrapped around his torso, he ignores all of his thoughts urging him to stay in place and he takes big steps, reaching for Taehyung.
The bartender stumbles slightly back when Jungkook approaches, there’s a giggle escaping from his mouth. Jungkook wishes he thought twice before doing anything because in less than a second as soon as he gets a hold of Taehyung, he takes a dive in and slams his lips on his, gripping his body closer.
Taehyung flutters his eyelashes open as Jungkook keeps on kissing him, he grips him firmly and takes advantage of one of the kisses, deepening and pulling the other boy even closer to him. His lips brushed against Taehyung’s. Not innocently, but hot, fiery, passionate and demanding. “Jungkook” Taehyung lets out in a whisper, prolonging each letter as if to savor them. Jungkook smiles, his heart fluttering at his voice as he clasps his hands on either side of Taehyung’s face. “I really have to go…”
Jungkook isn’t sure if the next thing Taehyung does is to cause a distraction but he senses the towel slipping under him, standing bare naked in front of him as he pulls away, laughing.
“C’mon!” The singer throws a teasing smile as he picks up the towel.
It’s the moment between him reaching for his towel and looking up that Taehyung steps outside of the room. He waves over at Jungkook as he mouths a small smile in his direction. Jungkook’s eyes narrow down onto Taehyung’s figure leaving his eyesight as takes the elevator.
There’s a distant call from the other side of the hallway and Jungkook has a feeling that it’s time for them to leave for the airport.
The airplane is silent, except for the engines' steady hum. As the passengers finished settling him, Jungkook rested his belongings close to him. Placing down his notepad on the short desk, he shifts his body around making himself comfortable. The other bandmates are somewhere near him in the first class, everyone minding their own business. He catches a glimpse of Namjoon fast asleep and Yoongi opening his notebook.
Jungkook seems to distract himself with his playlist, playing over and over, as he writes down things that come to his mind. It seems to get him in a creative process. As he lists down words, his fingers on the pencil involuntarily trace figures, as if he was planning to sketch a drawing. The singer’s mind is elsewhere, he envisions Taehyung. He tries to but he seems to not be able to forget any of their moments. When he least expects it, his sketch has taken shape and the eyes are just like Taehyung’s.
“Taehyung.” He says to himself as he writes down his name on the paper.
The hum resurfaces in his head, for a moment he wishes he could pull his phone out and record so he won’t completely lose track of it. He lets it live in his mind for the meanwhile as he flies to another city. As the creative process still happens inside of him, Jungkook now writes words that could be used to describe Taehyung, words that connect to him. It’s all flowing easy inside of him, blooming and naming feelings he had no idea he had before.
It’s the feeling of longing for something that’s there but also not there, like an old memory living in his mind.
Jungkook thinks he should take advantage of the fact that he is still in the country where Taehyung is. Tokyo had a different type of vibe, Jungkook didn’t necessarily not enjoy it but there was no motive to go around the city trying to be a tourist. Once he arrived at the hotel, he unpacked his stuff and laid on his hotel bed.
With the chance of finally being able to record one thing or two, Jungkook pulls out his guitar and starts recording the melody that had been stuck in his mind for the past hours. As he hums it, the idea of writing a song doesn’t seem bad. Would Taehyung even give it a listen if he said it was for him? Jungkook scratches his head at the memory of Taehyung mentioning wanting a song dedicated to him.
The ideas flow and the singer already has his notepad’s sheet all over his bed, taking annotations here and there, connecting words, and trying to make a full-on melody.
He knows it takes a while to do everything, weeks and sometimes months. Starting something new always gave Jungkook a reason to keep pursuing his goals, it’s a fact that there are several songs that have never left the paper or even his mind but he had told himself that he could do it. The feeling was there and the words appeared easily to him when he had to describe the last days.
It’s throughout the several months of touring around the countries that Jungkook scribbles, throws away papers, substitutes sentences, changes the keys of the song and even seems to find himself in several writer’s blocks, leading to anger episodes. Taehyung was always there, let it be simply sending a hi every now and then or face timing him in the most random hours of the day. Every call and message, Jungkook seems to find himself closer to Taehyung, even if sometimes it’s not romantic-wise. He never thought he would become so attached to someone.
“I want to know… what you think of this drawing I made of you.” Taehyung giddily says as he motions the camera’s phone over through his studio apartment. He messily arranges his draft papers, finding the one he wanted to show Jungkook. He then points over to it, zooming on it.
The portrait is detailed, the edges of Jungkook’s eyes are perfectly shaded, the tip of his nose is accentuated and his small smile all perfectly resembles him. The graffiti against the paper is beautiful as well. Jungkook lets out a small gasp when he takes a closer look, it fazes him how madly talented Taehyung was. He can’t help to shower the art and the artist with compliments, receiving a happy response from the other side.
Jungkook smiles softly at the fact that Taehyung drew him, it meant that he still thought of Jungkook in the midst of his agitated life. He still managed to find time for him. At the opposite side of the call, Jungkook is able to listen to a soft sniffle and since the camera wasn’t on Taehyung he had no idea if he should mention it or hint at it.
It felt like hell knowing that the distance between them kept them from being together. Jungkook in all these months hadn’t brought up the dating topic to Taehyung but he knows, they know that maybe if they had different schedules they would be immediately together. There's a few bickering from both sides, sometimes Taehyung will feel needy and complain how unaccessible the singer is and how his schedule ruins his horny agenda. There are other times that Jungkook feels the same, hinting Taehyung to fly out to see him. But at the end of their conversations, Jungkook somehow feels guilty of Taehyung’s suffering, he wants to reach out and ask about his feelings, if he feels anything for him because in a way… it’s obvious that he does but Jungkook senses that he might be pushing too much. They only spent two days together, he shouldn't assume anything. The last thing he wants is to ruin whatever they have.
“Now tell me, how was your week?” Taehyung asks as he closes his drawing notebook.
“We wrapped the last show of the tour last weekend, I don’t think I’ll be back on the stage so soon, maybe in a year? Now we have plans to record new songs for the following album.” Jungkook wants to talk about the song that he is writing for Taehyung so badly but he knows he can’t and shouldn’t unless it’s all the way done. What if he just gets stuck with one part and ends up not recording anything? Disappointment would be the word Taehyung would use to describe his response. “What about yours?”
The months always end with several late-night calls or weekly facetime. The past weeks a collection of Taehyung’s selfies have been living in the singer’s photo gallery and he has no plans to delete them whatsoever. Jungkook at the most random moments will remember Taehyung and try calling him for the sake of something small, like “what rhymes with this word?” or to tell a three-second joke only to end the call the moment Taehyung laughs or gives him a rejection glance. Even if it’s something silly they always pick up or send a message straight away.
Jungkook has the biggest urge to tell Taehyung about his new projects, including the song he is writing for him. During a late-night call, Jungkook doesn’t say much, instead, he plays on his guitar while Taehyung listens to him at the other side of the facetime call. It’s during that small session of guitar that he plays the melody Taehyung hummed back at the hotel, playing it slowly while exchanging glances over at the phone, hoping he familiarizes himself with the tune.
He has managed to also work on his band’s upcoming releases, every week he meets up with Yoongi and Namjoon to go through new ideas and record them. They have an entire schedule prepared for them, only needing to fill up each day with the content they are preparing.
Jungkook stares at his computer as the instrumental continuously plays for the ninth time in the studio. His mind didn't even let him think for a single sentence or phrase, the song seems to be coming together better than he expects. There’s something missing and he has yet to find out. He is too preoccupied with the blankness of his mind, he needs to finish this song for the following week. Most of the songs from their album are finished, already produced prior to their tour schedule. Consumed by his writings and melodies, he didn't notice when Yoongi walked into the studio.
“You've been playing the same two-minute melody all day long, what’s wrong?” Jungkook squeezes his eyes, frustrated at the outcome. Sighing, he lets out an exasperated I don’t know to his bandmate. “Take a break, while you’re doing that let me open a new file and try new stuff on what you’ve composed.”
“Fine.” Jungkook stands up from his seat, letting Yoongi take over. There’s a hint that things will finally work out, Yoongi was good with words and building them in a song. Jungkook leaving behind the song for Yoongi in the meanwhile would do him good.
He throws himself at the studio’s couch, at the opposite side of the room, where Yoongi is now. The sound of the pen against Jungkook’s notes almost drove him crazy, he did indeed trust his bandmate but the lyrics were so personal that it felt like the bassist was invading his personal space. His cheeks become rosy when he listens to Yoongi read out loud the sentences.
“What if the beginning is more acoustic and then we add the other part you already recorded?”
“Will that be good?” Jungkook tilts his head.
“We come in fully when the third verse hits.”
“What if you add Namjoon’s instrumental… and then ours.”
Ideas pop here and there, Jungkook is glad that Yoongi took the time to sit down with him and rearrange the song. Jungkook is confident that it might be a good one for Taehyung. He proceeds to record a few more takes and then he finishes the week with the song handed to their sound engineer. His mind keeps going back to Taehyung and wondering how he will tell him about the song.
It ends up being a coincidence but the song release is a few days before Taehyung’s birthday so Jungkook could use it as an excuse, ‘hey, this is your birthday gift’. The end of the year also meant that the band didn’t have many schedules to attend, leaving more than a few days free for them to visit family or do whatever they want. Jungkook was a sucker of staying during these days, heading to the gym and that was it, sometimes he even had family and friends over. This year would be no different except for the fact that he really misses someone and perhaps his manager might let him spend a few days out of the country.
The singer can’t help but think that it would be a good idea, the song and the traveling to Japan, he figures that Taehyung will be happy with the surprise. He had already invited Jungkook to his studio… so he might stay there if he lets him. He can’t stop thinking about it.
“You're very lovey-dovey these days.” Hoseok out of the blues blurts, taking the singer by surprise since the room had been silent for the longest period of time. “Yoongi told me… you wrote a song for that guy you met back in May? Was it?”
Jungkook is bad at lying, especially when it involves his feelings. His ears get red easily and he can’t find the right and appropriate words to answer. “He doesn’t know shit.” He replies.
“We all do, you’re terrible at hiding stuff from us. C’mon, if you’re in a relationship or having a fling I gotta know.”
“Why? Are you the one kissing my significant other, no? Then you don’t need to know.” Jungkook doesn’t enjoy opening up about his dating life, especially to his manager, since he is the person in charge of saying no or yes to his plans. If by telling his personal life to Hoseok he can have the power to simply change his schedule if something bothers him, Jungkook would rather not.
“Why are you stubborn? I’m literally with you three for 24 hours, I know what goes on with each one of you.” Hoseok replies in an annoyed tone as if he had this talk several times with the singer and has yet to understand he is only seeking the best for them. “It’s not a big deal… Joon has dated before… Yoongi tried. No biggie.”
Jungkook knows his bandmates did have relationships while being part of the band and they didn't let it become public, to correct: Hoseok didn’t let any one of them be public. The singer knew the consequences, sometimes the fans were more accepting and other times, they weren’t. It wasn’t the biggest of the deal with them as well, they were a band, not some company-owned group or people that were all the time in front of the cameras. It was obvious that they had more freedom to run with it.
Having two different lives was certainly fun, Jungkook used to tease his followers when he was seeing someone. He could post small hints, some would never realize but others would always overanalyze it. Jungkook thought it was somehow fun running the risk. But with Taehyung it was different. He cares too much for him to let anything slide, he can’t let Taehyung get any sort of attention that can lead to hate comments and oversharing his personal life in the tabloids.
“I’m not dating him.” Jungkook tries to end the conversation with that, hoping Hoseok won’t keep nagging about it.
“If you are, I don’t mind. Take these days off to visit him…”
Jungkook tries to not sound happy at the proposal, he was meaning to ask if he could take a trip during those days, not really getting into detail where he would. He tilts his head, glancing over to his manager. He then bites his lip, quickly thinking what to reply. “I might, you seem to want me to visit him.”
Hoseok rolls his eyes.
One less thing to do, Jungkook had Hoseok’s approval.
~
After a month of planning his surprise visit, he makes sure that everything is lined up and planned the correct way. Jungkook had even arranged Jimin’s phone so he could talk to him and make sure that Taehyung was home once he stepped into his city. He had even planned with Jimin for Taehyung to actually listen to the song. He wasn’t an avid fan, maybe he had no clue they were dropping a release today. Jungkook had that covered.
Gosh, the butterflies swarm inside his stomach as he finishes packing his bag to leave for the airport. A series of events were happening inside of him, not only he was going to finally see Taehyung after months of long-distance but the mini-album his band had been working on was also dropping today. A collection of things to get anxious about.
Jungkook didn’t worry about fans seeing him at the airport, they would assume he is traveling for business motives since they just had a big release. His mind wasn’t concerned about anything, throwing on a mask and sunglasses, many didn’t even reach out to him.
He knows Taehyung likes him, at least that’s the impression he gives Jungkook whenever they talk. Jungkook had been fighting his feelings and thoughts for the longest time but upon finishing the song, he felt like all of his thoughts were written down and he no longer doubted his feelings towards the bartender. He really hopes Taehyung will enjoy his surprise visit and the song he composed.
He is also a bit different, not completely to absolutely make Taehyung not recognize him. His hair is longer and dyed jet black, his eyebrow carries a piercing and there are new tattoos filling up the empty spots on his arm.
The anxiety feeling that sits in his stomach during public appearances or concerts is nothing compared to the one he is feeling right now. Jungkook curses himself, not sure why he is being such a nervous wreck over something simple. Taehyung likes him, why would he not like his gift? And his visit?
When the plane arrives after a couple of hours, Jungkook is one of the first to leave the plane and pick up his baggage. He takes a deep breath as he calls out for a cab. He texts Jimin, making sure that everything was going according to plan, and also informs him that he had arrived.
‘He is at home, I’m sending the link to your song before you arrive.’
Jungkook locks the phone while entering the cab.
There’s nothing more nerve-wracking than seeing the houses pass by and eventually feel the car stopping the engine and parking nearby. The neighborhood wasn’t very modern but there wasn’t an old feel to it as well. He squeezes his eyes as he tries to read the number of the apartments. One of them was Taehyung’s. Upon leaving the cab, Jungkook takes off his mask and starts roaming around to find the flat. Taking a few minutes to check everything, the singer finds himself in front of a hidden alleyway that leads to a small apartment complex.
Taehyung really meant it when he said he lived in a tiny flat.
There’s a hesitation coming from the singer when he finds the right apartment. Should he text Jimin or just knock? Fighting his own thoughts and instincts, Jungkook ends up knocking at the door. Once, then twice.
Nothing.
Jimin had made sure that Taehyung was at home, why wasn’t he answering?
When Jungkook lifts his first another time he listens to a faint voice coming from inside, yelling for the person at the door to wait. Jungkook isn’t sure of the words used, he had no clue about words in Japanese. But it was Taehyung’s voice so it was a good sign.
The turn of the door handle made Jungkook’s heart jump out of his mouth, gosh, how nervous can a person possibly become while meeting someone?
The door opens and the first thing that he sees is Taehyung, his outfit is simple, a white shirt and sweatpants. His eyes don’t meet up for the longest second and when they do, Taehyung seems to freeze. Jungkook isn’t sure of how his surprise visit went but as soon as he opened his mouth to talk to the bartender, he felt arms wrapping around his body and weight being thrown against him.
Taehyung hugged him so tight that he thought he would run out of air at one point.
“Fuck.. why would you do this to me?” Taehyung lets out a sob as he embraces him tighter.
Only then did the singer realize that the owner of the apartment was crying, bailing his eyes before he had knocked at the door. That’s why he was late. Did Jimin show him the song or did Jungkook just show up at an awful time?
Jungkook feels his chest shrinking with each moment he takes to listen to Taehyung breathe and hug him tightly. His grip becomes softer as he realizes that Jungkook is really there. It’s with a small pull away that Jungkook can truly see Taehyung’s face.
Then, Taehyung kisses him.
It’s not even a decision. There is no clear line where the hug ends and the kiss begins; one is simply the extension of the other. Gentleness replaces urgency in a celebration and not the clumsy landing of their initial embrace. Jungkook truly had no idea of how much he missed Taehyung, even if they only hung out for a few days, he missed him so badly.
They're a little out of breath. Taehyung’s hands clench around Jungkook’s shirt. There's a moment where the singer thinks they're going to kiss again. Taehyung is tilting his head just right, and their lips brush, parted, and they shift on their feet -- but then the floor creaks down the hall, and the bartender steps away.
“I look like a mess…” Taehyung chuckles as he compresses his fingers against his soft cheeks, trying to make the redness go away.
Jungkook shakes his head.
“Oh gosh…” Taehyung looks at his surroundings still trying to compose what had just happened, then he grabs Jungkook’s hand so he can pull the singer inside of his home. “Come in.”
There’s a weird feeling that the singer can’t describe when he finally takes a step inside the apartment. It felt so intimate, the place screamed Taehyung in all ways. Jungkook felt comfortable and even a bit cozy from just taking a glance around. “You planned this with Jimin, that must be it.” He listens to Taehyung say while he shuts the front door.
Jungkook cracks a smile, nodding slowly.
“I was about to text you…”
“I’m here now, you can say whatever you want in person.” Jungkook bites down on his lip, holding back from sending a smirk in Taehyung’s direction. He seems to be cooling down, not as nervous as before. The butterflies are still in his stomach but he can divert his attention from them, ignoring the anxiety living inside of him. They didn’t even have the opportunity to sit down and talk about everything.
Taehyung had probably already listened to the song.
“I loved it. I did.” Taehyung blurts out.
Jungkook fights back the squishy feeling he has inside that’s trying to make him blush endlessly. He scratches his neck, trying to avoid eye contact, he had never declared his feelings so directly to someone using his music. The poetry, the symbolism, and the choice of words behind the lyrics were all designed to express his feelings, even if it was in an exaggerated way. It was the way he found to comfortably reach out to someone he cared about. "This is the first song written for you... there will be many others, don't worry."
"You are unbelievable." Taehyung blushes as he cracks a smile over at Jungkook. "Now you'll make me abandon everything because you did in fact write me a song."
Jungkook jokingly shakes his head in disbelief as he starts remembering when Taehyung mentioned abandoning his life to go on tour with him... after a song written about him. Jungkook didn't have a motive to write him something, there was no motive except share his feelings by using music. "I'll abandon everything if you name a drink after me... at Jin's bar."
"I'll totally do it." Taehyung lets out a small laugh as he lays his eyes over at Jungkook, who sits at the opposite side of the room.
As Jungkook finds himself against the end of one of the couch’s arms, he watches as Taehyung makes his way towards him. He positions himself between the singer’s legs, closing the gap between them as he wraps his arms around Jungkook’s neck. There’s a caring expression on his face, a small smile as he reaches his lips against Jungkook’s. Instead of a kiss, Jungkook feels Taehyung vibrate against his as if he was humming a melody.
It was the same melody as before.
“I missed you.” Taehyung mumbles against his lips.
“I missed you more.” Jungkook softly whispers.
The soft humming seems to replace all the words Taehyung wants to say.
And that is enough for Jungkook to understand his feelings.
