Down The Road [Moodboard + Fic]

Summary:

Bucky was down on his luck when he met Steve. He barely had any money left, he had nowhere to go and then his car got a flat tire. Stranded on the road his luck changed when a mechanic called Steve drove past him and helped him out. He fixed Bucky’s tire and offered him a place to stay and a job. Suddenly things are good but Bucky keeps waiting for his luck to change once more. That moment never comes. In fact things just keep getting better when he learns Steve has as much of a crush on him as he does on Steve.

Notes:

This fills the square "flat tire" for STB Bingo. Just a little moodboard and some words to go along with it :)

Work Text:

Bucky was down on his luck when he met Steve. He barely had any money left, he had nowhere to go and then his car got a flat tire. Stranded on the road his luck changed when a mechanic called Steve drove past him and helped him out. He fixed Bucky’s tire and offered him a place to stay and a job. Suddenly things are good but Bucky keeps waiting for his luck to change once more. That moment never comes. In fact things just keep getting better when he learns Steve has as much of a crush on him as he does on Steve.

"Buck," Steve’s voice was sweet and gentle.

Bucky’s standing in his kitchen - their kitchen he should say - making dinner. Steve has just come home from a long day at the garage, looks a little tired and sweaty. Most of all, though, he is looking at Bucky like Bucky’s the best damn thing he has ever seen. Like he's got a hunger only Bucky will sate.

Steve wants and ain't it great cause Bucky wants too. Has wanted Steve on some level ever since he met him that day he had a flat tire. The day Steve changed his entire life. It's not some sense of repayment, it's just the overwhelming feeling he has when he looks at Steve. Steve is the best man he has ever met. Kind, funny, and truly good. Bucky loves him and it looks like Steve might love him too.

"Stevie," Bucky says, turning off the stove. "Do you wanna kiss me?"

"I do," Steve’s voice cracks and within two steps he is right in front of Bucky.

Bucky closes the last bit of distance between them and kisses Steve. Steve’s as good of a kisser and Bucky thought he would be.

Bucky doesn’t sleep in the spare room that night...
