Chapter 1: prologue

No one thought it could happen.

No one seriously thought it could actually happen—well, no one supposedly sane.

Many people expected getting attacked and taken over by terrorists or soldiers from neighbouring countries. There were also those who thought that, sooner or later, the world would get flooded and submerged by tidal waves or buried deep in snow—or any natural disaster caused by the very real worsening climate conditions.These were the more logical and more probable expectations, of course. Going beyond logic, there were also those people who were fully prepared to fight off zombies and vampires and werewolves.

Not even those scientists and those NASA guys were able to see it coming on their tables and charts and whatever data they had piled up from those big telescopes of theirs. The bible and those all-knowing ancient civilizations never even mentioned it.
