Work Text:
When the angel crosses path with him
It’s a good thing
Because his spirits lift
Because the angel is a friendly face
And interesting
And kind
And Crowley can’t help liking him
When the angel crosses path with him
It’s a bad thing, too
Because his spirit twists in conflict
Because the angel is arrogant
And naïve
And condescending
And Crowley shouldn’t be liking him
Today has been a bad day
He just wants to drink the house brown in front of him
And get the Hell out of Rome
So when the angel appears
It’s a confusing thing
Because his spirit lifts and twists in conflict
Because he's annoyed at himself
And the angel
And the politics
And Crowley shouldn't be liking an angel
He really shouldn't be liking an angel so damn much
Then the angel asks a stupid question
Which makes his heart twist worse
“Still a demon, then?”
And he is hurt
And pissed
And reminded
That Crowley's heart is in the hands of a being
who can hardly remember his name
Then the angel makes an interesting proposition
Which makes his heart stop in attention
“Oh, let me tempt you to…”
And he is relieved
And reassured
And reminded
Why Crowley liked him all along
And maybe it’s okay that
Crowley is liking an angel
At least the angel is different
At least the angel enjoys a good argument
And Earthly things
And Crowley’s company
And Crowley wonders if the angel ever asks himself
If it’s okay he likes the enemy, too
