Cruel summer

Summary:

Soobin knows that from here, anything won't be the same, because he can't control it anymore and Yeonjun is so close he can even feel his breath hitching and his body tensing, because Soobin wasn't the one to iniciate this kind of contact, even though he was the one in love, because even though he needed to feel Yeonjun close, he wasn't a masochist.

Notes:

After literally years, here I am again with a short story and I hope I can write more in the future because I enjoy writing very much, even though my brain doesn't want to cooperate with me most of the times, but I would try to do it again this time.

Once again a friend helped me with any mistakes, so thanks to her. ♡

Please let me know if you all like it. ><

Enjoy!

Work Text:

Falling in love with his best friend wasn't the best decision Soobin has made in his life. Having to deal with pent-up feelings and yearning was something he was getting use to but feeling okay about it was a completely different thing.

Because who would be okay with being beside the person you love without having the chance of telling them; holding their hand and having to swallow all the feelings just because it wasn't exactly okay to feel so many things for the person who you grew up with. Soobin wasn't so sure how it happened or when, he just knows he's in love now and seeing Yeonjun dancing with someone else was probably the worst feeling he has ever felt.

The night was for sure more warm than it should be, that Soobin knows for sure, but right now he feels cold and he knows that doesn't have anything to do with the drink in his hand. Sighing and running his hands through his hair Soobin walks to the exit, knowing pretty well that Yeonjun's gaze was on him, looking concerned, worried, because that was something Yeonjun couldn't stop doing, worrying about Soobin, leaving, forgetting everything just to be with him... and that doesn't help at all with the amount of feelings in his chest, if you ask him. And he was sure, he was so sure Yeonjun would leave behind that other boy just to go after him once he notices Soobin leaving.

That's why he didn't budge when he felt a warm hand circled his wrist, stopping him from walking further.

"Binnie," Yeonjun spoke in a soft voice, taking Soobin's hand with his own and intertwining their fingers, smiling just a tiny bit, "Are you okay? Wanna go home already?"

And Soobin knew he was screwed, because he knew he was jealous just a couple minutes ago, but now he was just warm, okay, calm and it only took a smile. "I'm okay, hyung. You can stay if you want, you don't need to go home just for me."

"I'm not staying if you go home, Soobin, we came here together." Soobin would be lying if he say he didn't feel happy hearing that, but at the end Soobin just sighed and grasped the back of Yeonjun's head, playing a little bit with his hair, smiling sofly at the same time he closes his eyes. "Stop being like this, hyung."

"What are you talking about, Soobin?"

Yeonjun's voice was low, nothing compare to the way he talked normally, because there wasn't a need to raise their voices when they were that close. "You always... you always do that. Leaving everything and everyone just because of me, spending time with me and only me even though you have a lot of friends. Holding my hand, kissing my cheeks, That— hyung, that just confuses me".

With hesitation Soobin looks into Yeonjun's eyes, biting his lips because this wasn't suppose to happen, not now, not never, because he wasn't suppose to fall in love with his besfriend, because he wasn't suppose to get jealous and above of all he wasn't suppose to want to kiss him like he wanted to kiss him now.

"You're so dense, Binnie," And that's when Soobin was sure this was only a dream, maybe, because there was no way Yeonjun was kissing him and holding him so close, but he would be an idiot if he didn't kiss him back. And without hesitation, Soobin lift his hand and cradles Yeonjun's cheek, moving his lips in a slow pace, savoring the moment, holding him even closer because he waited for this all his life, and he was sure he didn't know what breathing was until now. "I love you, stupid".

"You what?" Soobin could only laugh, resting his hands in Yeonjun's waist, pressing their bodies together without diverging his eyes from Yeonjun's. "You love me? Hyung, are you serious right now?"

"I just kissed you right now, how can you ask me that? Stupid!" And despite the fact that he felt like laughing again at his stupidity, Soobin just kissed him again, this time holding him even close and biting Yeonjun's lips, taking his time because he was already obssesed with Yeonjun's lips with just one kiss. "I love you too, hyung".

And maybe falling in love with his best friend was probably the best thing that could happen to Soobin, because even though he was a yearner, he knew Yeonjun was the same and maybe, just maybe, everything was suppose to happen like this.
