Chapter Text
The first time you met Katsuki Bakugo was in the first grade. You were new and didn’t know how things worked, maybe that’s why things are the way they are now. Nevertheless, it was break, and you were sitting in the sandbox chatting to a kid who reminded you of pikachu (your soon to be best friend Denki Kaminari). You heard a cry behind you to see a small green-haired boy whimpering on the floor, walking away from him and straight towards you was a spikey blonde boy. His crimson eyes locked with yours and the pure spite in the orbs made you freeze, as he got closer you saw that his mouth was moving but somehow nothing was coming out. Finally, you heard:
"What are you staring at dummy?"
The audacity of his question initially shocked you but you were soon filled with anger; this suddenly increased as he snatched a shovel from Kaminari, kicking sand in your face in the process.
"Leave."
You mumbled as you brushed your knees off and stood up.
"What did you say to me?"
He glared at you, stepping closer, attempting to size you up.
"I said to leave us alone, please."
Replying somewhat urgently, you looked him dead in the eye for a couple of seconds until you were quickly distracted by a butterfly behind him. Bakugo seemingly noticed your lack of focus and turned fully around to see what the fuss was. Once you regained your focus you realised that he was completely vulnerable, so you did what any sane child would do… pushed him face-first into the sand, grabbed Kaminari’s hand and ran as fast as you could.
ᙙᙖ
But that was years ago, you guys are fine now, no one would hold a grudge against someone till college right?
Wrong.
"Watch it, dumbass."
The spiky blonde says as he purposely knocks into your shoulder causing you to drop your phone. You look up to see all 6’3 of Katsuki Bakugou, he had really grown into his skin since y’all first met, becoming valedictorian and the college’s token golden boy. From an outsiders perspective he is the perfect man, and you’d agree if it wasn’t for his stupid mouth.
He stared you down as you bent over to grab your phone, his crimson eyes scanning over your body. You take your time coming back up, not daring to break eye contact or show any form of submission. The tension was so thick you could cut it with a butter knife but you weren’t going to be the one to fold.
"Sorry, didn’t see you there."
You state while straightening up, you get up on your tiptoes so that you can attempt eye contact.
"It’s just that you’re so forgettable."
You smirk and sidestep around him leaving him standing there in the middle of the hallway, you hear him begin to fume in the background while Kirishima tries to calm him down.
Almost skipping down the corridor you see a yellow and black head of hair in front of you, you run forward and wrap your hands around Kaminari’s shoulders.
"Give a guy a warning first!"
He chuckles as he turns around to hug you back. Kaminari has been by your side since y’all first met and no matter his somewhat poor judgment skills he is the sweetest man you’ve ever met.
"Guess who I just bumped into? Literally."
You looked at him with a breath of annoyance. The look in your eyes told him everything.
"Hmmmmm, lemme think. Does this person’s name rhyme with Patsuki Hakugo?"
You look at him with false shock, play pushing him.
"How did you know?"
Your “relationship” with Katsuki was well known since you both had fiery personalities. Explosions were bound to happen. Since that first fateful day, Katsuki had been devoted to making your life a living hell, and you were not going to take it sitting down. Despite the obvious vendetta between the two of you, y’all had somehow ended up in the same friend group, meaning encounters and thus arguments were unavoidable. Conflict was ever constant between the two of you and you had no plans on stepping down, besides he’s the one who started it. You were going to be the one to finish it.
ᙙᙖ
The last bell rang indicating that it was time for you to go home, or at least try to before your friends sweep you off to get drunk somewhere.
Tonight it was a sports bar, the smell of stale beer and sweat allowed for you to realise that bad decisions were going to be made tonight. Walking in arm and arm with Mina you see that the guys have already gotten y’all a table, you also notice that Kaminari is already tipsy. Typical.
"Heeeeyyyyyy!"
He waves while standing up wobbly, you unwrap yourself from Mina and rush over wrapping your arms around his to make sure he doesn’t fall. Kirishima is quick to help while Bakugo just glares at you from across the table.
"Careful there buddy, wouldn’t want this to hurt tomorrow."
He smiles sweetly and slumps into your arms, you sit and down and try to get orientated with your surroundings, or as much as you could with Kaminari playing with your hair. You look around only to be drawn back to reality by Bakugo’s sighs of annoyance. You decide to ignore him and focus on the issue at hand.
"So… why exactly are we here?"
"Why not?" Bakugo retorts passively.
"I didn’t ask you."
You reply, learning over the table.
Guys.
Kirishima sternly addresses both of you.
"You know the rules about our evenings out, if you fight whoever started it pays the check. And I don’t think either of you wants to do that."
You immediately shut up, knowing how large these tabs can get especially when Kirishima’s here, he drinks like a bull.
As time progresses and more drinks flow the bar seems to become louder and your vision becomes a little less clear. You’re tipsy and you know it, you suddenly stand up and announce that you’re heading to the bar. You step over Kirishima and Bakugou on your way there “accidentally” digging your heel into Katsuki’s foot. You hear him swear under his breath, and yes it was a cheap shot but all is fair in love and war. Or just war.
The sea of dancing bodies make it extremely hard for you to get to the bar, since when did sports bars have dance floors? Since when did they get this crowded? After apologizing to what seems like every person in that joint you feel your back hit something, you turn around and to your relief, you have finally found the bar.
You look down the aisle to find a bartender who can hopefully get you a glass of water, your eyes meet a pair of tired purple ones. Wowza. The bartender's eyebrows raise, offsetting his nonchalant gaze, you take this moment to examine him further. His purple hair seems to have a mind of its own, making him look at least 6’1. Piercings litter his ears and you can see a patchwork of tattoos covering all visible skin. You look to see what he’s doing, he’s mixing a drink, his large hands making the shaker seem minuscule. Your thoughts are interrupted by a soft yet masculine voice.
"I don’t mind you staring, but I should at least get your name."
Somewhat shocked you try to regain composure, leaning on the bar knocking over a straw holder in the process. You immediately drop to your knees rushing to clean up the mess you made. You stand up with bunches of straws in your hands unsure of what to do with them.
"Shit! I’m so sorry, I usually am not like this I was just a little distr-"
He chuckles, cutting you off.
"It’s fine, I’ll handle it."
He grabs the straws from your hands, his fingers brushing over yours in the process.
"But for when you’re not distracted what should I call you?"
You smile back daring to look him in the eyes again, his purple orbs drawing you in.
"I go by (y/n)."
You reach your arm out across the counter to shake his hand, but instead, he grabs it and kisses it, never breaking eye contact.
"Charmed, I’m Shinzo Hitoshi."
It feels as if you’re hypnotised by his gaze, not daring to look away. You hear a throat clear behind you, when you glance back you realise it’s Bakugo so you turn back forward and continue your conversation.
"Is there any chance I can get your number, it’s about time for me to sober up and head home but I would love to continue this conversation in the future."
He finishes your thought by saying:
"Maybe over a cup of coffee, or even a date?"
You raise your eyebrow teasingly but confirm his suspicions by reaching for your phone, your hand stops halfway seeming to be blocked by a mysterious presence. It takes you a minute to realise that mysterious force this is not, rather it’s Katsuki Bakugou’s hand. Why is he still here?
"What’s your damage?"
You bark, whirling around to face him. His face pauses but after his eyes drift back to Shinsou his scowl deepens.
"Your friends didn’t bring you here to flirt with strangers."
"And how does that relate to you?"
You try to yank your wrist away, but his grip tightens.
"I don’t have to explain myself, time to fucking go."
He starts to drag you away much to your protest, you again make eye contact with Shinsou apologising with your eyes. You briefly manage to squirm free and rush to the bar to say goodbye to the bartender. He gives you a kiss on the cheek and slides a piece of paper in your hand. Bakugo stomps back, grabbing you by the waist and hoisting you over his shoulder, cutting your goodbye short. You wave to Shinsou as you leave.
ᙙᙖ
The street lights illuminate Bakugou’s face once he sets you down outside.
"What was that for you asshole? And where is everyone else?"
You yell at him pushing him away from you.
"As I said before I don’t need to explain myself to you."
He retorts as he begins to walk away. You run after him pushing him again, struggling to do much due to the size difference.
"No matter your mission, you didn’t need to be a fucking cockblock."
He spins around quickly pushing you against the outside of the bar, hand riding up your thigh.
"Well y/n if you were that desperate, you could’ve just asked me."
You look up towards Bakugo’s eyes realising that his cheeks are tinted pink.
"Katsuki, you’re drunk and besides, I would never get with you even if you were the last man on earth. "
You push him off and walk away, trying to find your friends. You hear him murmur behind you and his long strides eventually catch up to you, yall walk back to your friends in complete silence. Which is better than defeating noise, right?
ᙙᙖ
You get back to your dorm and sink into your couch, your hands finding their way into your jacket pockets. You feel a piece of paper and remember that Shinsou gave it to you earlier, you unfold it to see it say:
04079492473
Text me soon ;)
You smile looking at the note and input his number into your phone under “Hot Bartender”. It takes you a minute to think of a good starter but you decide to go with the basic and send:
y/n : Hello Stranger
Hopefully it’s fine.
With the night’s events catching up to you, you realise how tired you are. So you strip down and get into bed drifting off with a smile forgetting about what happened with a certain Bakugou.
