Chapter Text

“I think I’ll get fired”

Justin and Stell stopped talking to look at their female friend slumping her head on the table. The three of them are taking a break in the company’s cafeteria. Work wasn’t hectic so they had the chance to eat lunch together, despite working in different departments.
“What do you mean?” Justin asked and that was the cue for Adelaide, their friend omega to lift her head in worry. Hurriedly she leaned forward to the two men and asked. “Do I still smell?”
“Smell?” Stell asked in surprise but Justin answered his question. “She meant her scent.”
“No seriously! Is it strong? I swear I drank my suppressants” She asked and Justin tried smelling her, a small whip of sweet pea entered his nose but it wasn’t potent enough for the alpha.
“Yeah but not much” He answered and drank his coffee but that wasn’t enough for Adelaide to cheer up. She only sighed and slumped her head again on the table.
“Hey what’s wrong?” Stell asked unable to detect the problem. He’s slow when it comes to Alpha and Omega scents, maybe due to the fact he’s only a beta. He did become curious about what his scent smells like however according to his friends, his scent emits like fresh strawberries with a mix of honey whenever they get the chance to hug each other and sniff his neck.
He then heard Adelaide groan in frustration.
“The boss glared at me.” She cried and both men widened their eyes.
“Boss? You mean the C.E.O?” Stell asked and the omega nod.”I don’t know why he glared at me, I only came to his office to deliver the proposals but the moment I went in there he suddenly shot his eyes at me.” She cried louder. “Am I gonna get fired?! Stell what should I do?!”
The man wrinkled his forehead. “I don’t know! You know omega employees try to avoid him.”
It is true, a lot of omega workers do their best to avoid the C.E.O Felip Jhon or better known as Ken Suson. A renowned Alpha in the fashion industry. There is nothing wrong with the Alpha. Expect for the fact that the man kept glaring at every omega he sees, his strong scent of black coffee fills the room the moment an omega step near him and that was enough for them to avoid contact with the Alpha. No one still knows why their chief act that way but nothing has happened so far with the employees like Adelaide. They can still communicate with the boss but only in business matters.

Unfortunately, Stell is Ken’s secretary. Well hopefully enough, the Alpha is neutral to his presence, they never talk outside the business. He is serious and somewhat cold to his employees, but he has talent and that’s the reason why his company is successful. His brand is in high demand in the fashion industry. One of the reasons why Stell looks up to this man. He’s astonished by the Alpha’s mere presence, he liked working next to Ken and he's proud that he works under him.
If you don’t look at the part where he scares off omegas.

“I don’t get our boss, I mean from what I know he has an omega fiancé right? He sometimes visits the company.” Justin said and Adelaide nod in frustration. Stell joined in the topic, “His name is Josh Cullen right? The heir of Santos Company.”
Josh is a popular omega known for being an heir to their family business, the Santos company that specializes in making graphic games. The Suson and Santos family have been friends since the beginning of their trade hence, not surprising to join hands using arrange marriage. Sometimes the dominant omega would visit Ken in his company. Stell has interacted with the petite man and he’s charming, a little bit intimidating but nothing scarier than the C.E.O.

Speaking of his boss, Ken requested a coffee. “I forgot I have an errand after lunch, I gotta go.” The beta smiled and stood up.

That was the fifth one today. Stell said to himself as he lay his take-out coffee on his working table. Adelaide wasn’t the only omega who shared their uncomfortable experience with the Alpha. Stell is a friendly one and almost everybody in the company knows him so it wasn’t a piece of surprising news on what Adelaide had said. She isn’t the only one who complained at the beta.
Stell then looked to his right and next to his table is a large aluminum glazed double door, the glass is fully glazed thus the man isn’t able to peek inside the room. The man then again lifted his ordered coffee and reached the telephone laying on the table, tapping a specific button on the number pad and raised the handset to his ear.

“Sir Suson, I brought the coffee you requested.” Stell waited for a few minutes and a sudden deep voice answered him on the line.
“You can enter” With that permission, the beta later ended the call and walked to the door, knocking three times before entering. His eyes were greeted with the modern Victorian design of the office. Four corner room is painted with pure black with wall lamps aligned perfectly, a small golden chandelier placed at the dirty white ceiling with few round led lights helping to give off bright ambiance. At the center is the Alpha’s large working table, made in dark mahogany wood.
At the back were large glass windows, showing sceneries of skyscrapers while at the front side of the table were two Mid-Century sofas in a vertical position facing each other, a glass table at the center providing boundary to the two couches. And on one of the couches is Ken sitting, wearing a black suit and red necktie, his legs crossed and his eyes focused on the few papers he's holding.

Stell then walked near the Alpha and laid the coffee on the glass table. “Just like you ordered, I requested extra sugar.”
Ken finally looked up at the beta and nod in approval, his brown eyes looking directly at his. Stell has been working as his secretary for almost two years now but no matter how hard he adjusts, he’s in awe of how Ken’s face is sculpted by heaven. Puff red lips, sharp nose, his wolf cut raven hair, and not to mention his flawless brown skin. Everything about the man screams perfection. “Thanks, did you had your lunch?”
The older nod. “Yes, do you need anything before I go?” It was their routine, with his two years of working with the Alpha, the two have never been close and only considered themselves as acquaintances. They would ask each other’s status but that was only for courtesy. Stell didn’t mind though, as long as their relationship wouldn’t go downhill he could work in peace.
“Nothing, but photocopy these papers. I need them for the meeting later.” Ken answered and extended his hand over Stell to give the papers he was reading earlier. Without second thoughts, the older took it before making his way outside the office. As soon as he closes the office’s door he firstly took off his jacket and hang it on his office chair and left his workplace.

The photocopy machine is not far and few employees were using it so before 10 minutes he reached the office. While humming, Stell walked back to the balcony while checking the papers, about to knock at the doors again but his eye caught on something. He looked at the table next to him and to his surprise his jacket is missing on the chair. The beta’s forehead wrinkled in confusion.
Didn’t I left it earlier? He thought to himself before knocking on the chief's door.

Stell didn’t find his jacket after two weeks.
He sighed while waiting for his stack of printed papers on the printing machine. The man knew he laid his jacket on the chair but where is it? It might be a thief but it’s a jacket, who would steal his old non-branding jacket? And it was his favorite one to wear too.
Stell’s face became sour in disappointment, he again sighed before taking the printed out papers from the machine. Suddenly, Justin came, holding some piles of paper to photocopy.
“Oh? Why the long face?” The young alpha asked and Stell held his waist. “My jacket is still missing.”
“Really? Just give it up, it was old anyway.”
“Hey-“ The beta interrupted. “It was cozy. The balcony’s aircon is freezing me and that jacket helped me cope up with the cold.”
Justin laughed. “I’ll just buy you a new one, Addy wanted us to shop at the weekends anyway.”
“Nah, I’m good.” Stell answered and the younger shrugged. “Your choice.”

Their conversation didn’t last long as both still have some work to do. Stell dropped his printed papers on the table and sat on his chair, stretching his back while both of his hands holding his waist. He yawned and rubbed his eyes, fighting himself not to sleep.
He then looked at the Alpha's door. Ken already went out an hour ago, canceling his supposed meetings to meet his fiancé in a restaurant. Stell was a little jealous though, having a boyfriend as cute as Josh. He was too busy with his job that he didn’t have time to look for a partner. Stell prefers betas though, having an alpha or omega partner would put him in trouble.
As soon as he straightens his back to continue his task, Stell heard footsteps coming near. To his expectation, he looked up and saw Ken, walking at a fast pace. The beta was about to greet the alpha but noticed something strange about the younger man.

The Alpha’s eyes were in a daze, his breathing hasty and his face in cold sweat despite the balcony’s cold temperature. Immediately Stell stood up in worry.
“Sir Suson? Are you okay? Is there something wrong?” Ken immediately stopped and looked at the older man, the beta glanced down realizing how the man’s hands were shaking.
“Sir? Are you okay?” Stell repeated but Ken only palm his face, covering his eyes, and sighed as if trying to calm himself.
“Do I still have an appointment?” The younger man asked, still hiding his eyes and Stell instantly answered.
“You have one appointment with Mr. Yu-“
“Reschedule it. Also, I won’t accept visitors until the end of the day.” He cut off the beta and went inside his office without a word. Stell stood for a while, unsure of what to do after. It was his first time seeing the C.E.O in trance, did something happened to make him like that?
He thought about what he should do, thinking if he could check the Alpha inside but momentarily, Stell sat on his chair and continued working like nothing happened. He couldn’t do anything anyway. He is only the Alpha’s secretary. He can’t barge into his personal affairs.
Nothing more, nothing less.

8:30 pm

“Stell!! Let’s go eat dinner!!” Adelaide invited and laid her elbows on Stell’s table. It was already night and half of the employees are ready to go home.
“Addy said there’s a new samgyup near the company.” Justin added smiling from ear to ear but Stell remains unfazed.
“I’m not done with work.” The beta said, continuing to write some papers but the omega was stubborn.
“Hurry up then! No buts we’ll wait for you on the ground floor.” Stell rolled his eyes but eventually nod in agreement following Addy who giggles in response. “Jah let’s wait for Stell on the ground floor let’s go~”
She then pulled Justin by the hand which the young Alpha obliged but before leaving the balcony the young man looked behind and waved at Stell while the beta waved back smiling.
The balcony grew quiet with his two friends leaving and Stell decided to fasten his pace for his two friends not to be bored while waiting. The man didn’t know what time it is but he assumed it’s already late.

A lot of writing and organizing before Stell finally stretched his arms upward in contentment. “Finally!” He said to himself and stood from the chair happily, ready to pack his things and leave. After re-checking if everything’s organized, he put on his backpack smiling.

Until he remembered his boss.

Stell then looked at the aluminum doors in worry. It’s been six hours since they talked and not a single call came from the Alpha. He’s unsure if he should just leave without notice, at least he needs to say goodbye before going. It would be rude to suddenly leave.
With caution, the beta walked to the door and knocked lightly, he pressed his right ear on the door monitoring if there’s any sound. When he didn’t hear anything he knocked again “Sir Suson? I’ll be taking my leave!”
He half-shouted but no answer came again. Stell then breathed a sigh and gave up, only as he was about to turn and leave he noticed that the door is not fully closed, able for him to open the door without a sound. He stared at it for seconds fighting his thoughts if he should open it.

Should I open it? But sir Suson doesn’t like it when I open the door without notice…
.
.

But what if he lost consciousness?!
.
.
.
But my job is at stake here….
.
.
.
Really Stell? Your job over someone’s life?

Eventually, consciousness won and Stell reached the doorknob to pull it slowly, peeking his head a little to investigate inside.
He squinted his eyes realizing the lights are off and only the wall lamps were open. When Stell’s eyes adjusted to the dusk he quickly looked for Ken, checking if he’s still alive.

Luckily he found him behind the couches!

On the floor, his eyes tightly close while sniffing the beta’s jacket that has been missing for weeks.
