Chapter Text
As soon as the drones stopped and retreated away inside the queen’s vault, MJ sprinted away holding the mace. Her mind was hard wired onto only one thought: 'Find Peter’.
Suddenly the man who said he worked with Peter came up and gave her a box; when they were alone outside the building.
“The kid wanted you to have this” he said as he shoved a small jewelry box into her hand.
She opened it to find a black dahlia necklace, broken but still a necklace. Her lips smiled in spite of herself, she remembered her obsessed conversation about the ‘murderer’ and she could never forget Peter’s eyes that day, as the brown eyes had stared towards her. As she had met his eyes with her own, Peter had blushed adorably while dropping his gaze.
But now was not the time to think about that, she had to find Peter. She took off as she heard the man shout to ask her to wait with Peter if she found him; he was going to pick them up. She ran through the deserted streets of London towards the London Bridge which seemed to be the center of the holograms. She ran as fast her legs could her and she reached the bridge.
He saw Spiderman limping slowly and removing his mask. Peter’s face was bloody with a cut on his right face and a busted lip. His suit was charred at various places. She ran through the abandoned cars, some on fire towards Peter who spotted her.
“Hey MJ” he said, ‘you bloody fool, you are injured’ her brain screamed. She dropped the mace and flung out her hands hugging Peter tightly. Peter hugged her back.
“Are you ok?” she asked.
“Yeah, yeah, I am ok” he answered, his voice muffled on her shoulders. “Is everybody else okay?” he asked.
‘You just fought a villain, you are injured, you should worry about yourself’ she thought. But this was Peter Parker, Spiderman, who put everyone before himself.
“Yeah, everybody else is okay” she assured.
“What happened?” he asked, his voice still muffled.
“There were just the drones, and they were following us, and they just stopped” she ranted breathlessly. She could feel Peter’s pants against her. “Was that you?” she asked.
“Yeah” he answered.
She pulled back and asked “Did you get him?”
“Yeah, he is webbed up at the top of the tower, he is shot but not lethal” he answered.
The next moments were a bit of a surprise as she showed the necklace and Peter instantly started apologizing, she quickly assured him it was okay and she liked it better broken.
Then they kissed, two quick pecks, followed by a soft, long, chaste kiss, with her explaining her inability with people and their mutual confession.
But immediately after that Peter slumped onto her. She caught him before he touched the ground.
“Peter?” she asked, panicked.
His only reply was panted breathings, as his head rolled to his side. She realized he had passed out.
Shit, shit, shit.
She called his name a few times, lightly slapping his uninjured cheek to no avail.
Fuck.
She whipped out her phone as she called Ned.
‘Please pick up, please pick up, please pick up, please pick up’ her mind repeated as he saw Peter’s breathing laboring. Did he break his ribs, she wondered?
Ned picked up “MJ? Where are you? Did you find Peter?”
“Yeah, yeah, it’s not good Ned, he passed out, he is not waking up” she said as she saw Peter lying on the dusty road helplessly.
She had never thought she would see him in such a vulnerable state. MJ tried to straighten him and his hands brushed his chest. Peter groaned loudly in pain, his face scrunching up.
“Okay, okay, I am giving to Happy” she heard Ned say. Next thing he heard the man’s voice laced with worry.
“How is he?”
“Very bad, he is not waking up, should I call an ambulance?” she asked desperately.
“Ambulance won’t do any good, he is enhanced. Stay there, I am coming.”
MJ waited after the call disconnected. After a few minutes he heard footsteps as Happy came in and sat down beside Peter.
He picked him up like he weighed nothing.
“Happy?” Peter asked, regaining a bit of consciousness.
“Yeah, Pete. You are safe” the man soothed softly.
“Mysterio, on the bridge, webbed up, shot” Peter spluttered.
“It’s okay, I got the police working, and they will arrest him” he said.
“Okay” said Peter before slumping back, his face tucked in Happy’s chest.
She followed Happy who led them to a clearer road where a new sleek jet was standing, Ned at the doorsteps but looking frozen.
“The last one…” MJ tried.
“I had another one fly in, they can fly pilotless” he clarified.
“Kid move in” he said walking up the steps and freezing similar to Ned, his hands going slack.
As Peter rolled off, a figure quickly emerged and caught his limp body and carried him back into the jet.
