Chapter 1: How does one explain to a dumb shark the intricacies of navigating the dangers of time?

Chapter Text

Gura, the Atlantean that captures Amelia’s heart almost as much as the rest of Myth, which is why she felt an almost unhealthy amount of pride as she carried the shark to bed. The girl in her arms, tired from their “wrestling”, Amelia almost didn’t hear Gura when she asked her something.

“What was that Gura?” Amelia cooed, making the girl blush even more. Still, she repeated her question.

“How many Gura’s are there that are lucky enough to have four amazing girlfriends?” the question made Amelia smile, a light blush on her cheeks. Ah, Gura. Always the charmer. She thought as she made it up the stairs with Gura in her arms.

“That is… complicated. Let’s lay down first.” Amelia received a soft murmur of agreement. Getting into their room, Amelia felt a little saddened at the lack of their other girlfriends. They’ll be back from their trip soon. Amelia told herself, though she was still saddened slightly.

Plopping Gura onto the bed, Amelia quickly rummaged through their closet. it was filled with many different types of clothing and was quite frankly a mess, yet she managed to pick out two long shirts for them both. Skipping the arduous task of going through their dresser for anything else, Amelia slid on the shirt and tossed Gura her own.

With a yawn, the blonde switched off the light and crawled beside the Atlantian. Wrapping her arms around the shorter girl, they settled into bed together. Amelia felt Gura’s heartbeat against her chest, as the shark buried herself in Amelia.

“You gonna answer my question? Or are you leaving me on read?” Gura whispered, her eyes half-lidded as she fought to remain awake.

Giggling at her effort, Amelia rewarded Gura with a peck on her forehead before responding. “Right, well, let’s unpack your question…”

“Say there’s a silly little shark.” Amelia began, being cut off quickly by a soft “Oi.” before managing to keep on track.

Keeping her laughter from escaping, Amelia spoke with a sharp grin “This little shark hasn’t yet found a rather overrated thing called her ‘soulmate’. Everyone seems to have one, yet she does not.”

“Where are you going with this exactly?” Gura’s confused and lazy stare filled Amelia with amusement. God, you’re cute! She thought but kept that to herself. Preferring to keep the story going then compliment the shark in her arms… for now.

“Now, in this case, there could be a practically infinite amount of the same ‘Gura’ in the ‘same’ situation. The difference though is the spark they receive.” Caressing the shark’s cheek Amelia looked into her eyes. “Now, this spark is what sets even the most similar ‘Gura’ apart from her counterparts.”

“Do you even know the answer to the question?” Gura mumbled, making Amelia pout.

“Of course! Don’t rush me stinky, this is just set up.” Dropping the pout, Amelia continued. “Now, this difference means that technically, depending on the nature of the question, there is only one ‘Gura’ that has four amazing girlfriends. in practice though, and to answer your question, their differences don’t matter. There is a great deal of ‘Gura’s with four amazing girlfriends! Some might even have more than four!”

Pressing her forehead against Gura’s she looked lovingly into her ocean-like eyes. “Not to say each Gura isn’t unique. Every Gura is, with things that set them apart from the others. Different things that would attract said four amazing girlfriends!”

Gura’s gaze softened. “And what’s unique about me, Watson?”

Amelia mulled it over, though she already knew the answer. Leaning into Gura’s ear, she whispered in a dangerously low tone. “For me, at least, it’s how cute you are ♡”

Gura didn’t respond, only pressing herself closer to Amelia. Hiding the burst of crimson on her face. So goddamn cute , Amelia thought, as she felt the exhaustion from their previous activities begin to slowly kick in.

Closing her eyes, Amelia let exhaustion take her. As she fell into the comforting abyss that was sleep, she faintly heard Gura muttering, “Damn it, Ame…”

it made her smile even more than she already was.

Cute shark! She thought before the abyss took her.
