It was nearing sunset, the sky was full of orange and black hues with clouds scattered. The wind picking up, then calming again, turning into a soothing lullaby for them. Kageyama's sand castle stood several feet away, almost threatening to tumble over.
On a large, brownish blanket made by Tadashi, they laid wrapped in each other, something Tsukishima Kei realised they were doing a lot lately. He was currently on the beach with his lovers, surrounded by Mother Nature, something Tsukishima came to appreciate a lot. Well because..
Hinata's hair. Tangerines.
Tadashi's freckles. Gold dust
Kageyama's eyes. Blue spinel gemstones
They were beautiful and if his boyfriends weren't reason enough to pique his interest…
Well one thing led to another and he started to like things other than dinosaurs. Others might think it was boring, but he was honestly interested.
His boyfriends were huddled around him, arms and legs thrown together. Tsukishima wasn't sure if he was able to move from his position, even if he wanted to. He very much cherished them, their warmth as they.. were they snoring?
Tsukishima wasn't surprised in the least, after all the running and jumping they did earlier it was bound to happen sooner or later.
Tsukishima groaned, blinking away his drowsiness, falling asleep with them wasn't a part his plan, but when he awoke the sight that he saw made his heart go into a frenzy.
What were you guys doing to me?
Hinata and Yamaguchi feet buried deep in the sand, fingers poking around at shells?
Damn his bad eyesight, ruining the moment.
Still, someone was missing, looking around for Kageyama, Tsukishima couldn't make them out anywhere in the distance, no matter how far he squinted.
Tsukishima felt a tugging on his shirt, looking down, he wondered how he didn't feel the body against his. "I'm right here, Tsuki", Kageyama mumbled against his chest. Chuckling, Kei laughed at his own post-nap grogginess.
"Why didn't you go with Shoyo and Tadashi?," Tsukishima asked curiously. Curling deeper into Tsukishima, Kageyama clinged tighter onto him. "I just wanted to keep you a bit warmer, since you seemed a little cold despite the blanket", they mumbled.
Turning to face Kageyama, Kei pulled them closer, kissing their forehead, a smile blossomed on Tsukishima's lips. "Thanks alot, darling", Tsukishima watched in allurement, as Kageyama's face turned a rosy tint.
Tsukishima turned, seeing Tadashi and Hinata racing towards them out of the corner of his eyes, raising an eyebrow at their disheveled appearance. While Kageyama was still trying to pull themself together from the praise.
"There was a baby crab that was going to eat a big insect, right in front of us!" Hinata rushed out as soon as he was near Tsukishima. "Tadashi wanted to let it happen but I saved it, so now it is at sea living a wonderful life". Hinata looked happy, obviously proud with his decision to let the insect continue its life
"Or gets eaten by the older crabs", Tadashi uttered, obvious of the reaction it might cause Hinata.
"Or, it could have actually escaped", Tsukishima dragged out the sentence, making it sound as truthful as possible, hoping Hinata might actually listen to him. "Mhm", Kageyama mumbled out, encouraging Shoyo to think in that direction.
That seemed to persuade Hinata enough. "It did, I put it in the water", Tsukishima watched as he stood taller, face lighting up.
"I don't think it was a water bug. I don't think it was a bug at all", Tadashi mumbled.
Fortunately, Hinata was already gone, pulling Kageyama up and running off in the direction of the water. Laughing loudly and running along the shoreline.
Tsukishima sighed, looking at how the sky was now completely dark, the moon and the stars being the only body giving them light. Watching as Tadashi joined them, jumping and splashing in the small waves. When Tsukishima finally joined them, they were completely soaked, picking up seashells and rocks they could only hope was cute in the moon's glow. Tsukishima watching them, which he realised he had been doing a lot lately, realised he wasn't entirely annoyed with the set of circumstances. Being with them on a cold and shivering night, on the beach.
The idiots, all of them, splashing around in the water as a sorry excuse for swimming.
Yet, he still feels the butterflies, they should be gone by now. He is so happy that he came out of his shell. So happy that he confessed to them. Even almost having water up his nose, he was basking in the bliss of knowing that his boyfriends were his, as he was theirs, wholeheartedly.
They had stayed in the water longer than planned, unbothered by the cold. Tsukishima followed them out, after finally deciding it was time to go, he held down the right side of his nose and blew gently, coming to a single conclusion, Kei mumbles, "Gosh I'm an idiot".
"-In love", the wind howled right after as in agreement with Tadashi's statement. "You're an idiot in love", he repeated, for dramatic effect.
God, he hated them now
Hinata then slides his arms around Kei, hugging him. "Yeah Tsuki, you always look at us like you're in awe. And you're really bad at hiding it, even if you tried". Hinata teases him playfully, making a point of dabbing his finger into Tsukishima's side.
Kageyama came up and fully pulled Tsukishima out of the water by his pinkie. "But we don't mind at all", they whispered, Kei was speechless, staggering in his steps a little from the abruptness, he flushed.
Nah, he still loved them
Was I really that obvious?...
Atleast I dont have to worry about my lack of showing emotions. Considering I was just told it was non-existent to begin with.
Covering themselves with enough layers to stay warm, Hinata and Tsukishima were on the trunk of his car, while Kageyama and Tadashi went off to pick up shells again. A gentle race to see who would full up their tiny buckets.
Hearing their laughter, Tsukishima smiled, realising that coming out to the beach did help them relax a bit, against the stress of midterms.
Lying on the car trunk, looking up against the black sky, the thing Tsukishima felt at that moment can only be described as serenity and love. A different kind of peace, that had his heart skipping in a field, with flowers and butterflies miles ahead.
Kageyama then suddenly pulled at Tsukishima's shirt, stifling a yawn, "Tsuki, let's go home, I wanna sleep", they mumbled.
Feeling himself being pulled away from his raw emotions, he remembered where his physical body was, but not completely as his feelings still lingered. With Tadashi and Hinata walking back towards them and Kageyama pressed into his side, Tsukishima realized he couldn't be happier
