Chapter Text
Emma opened the door to her home for the first time in almost two months. She hadn’t been home ever since receiving the dreaded phone call she new she would get one day. The phone call telling her something bad happened. She expected the worse, as soon as she heard Ororo’s voice she expected her to say Jean was dead, in the end it wasn't that bad, there was an explosion on the Blackbird, she didn't care for the details, she cared that Jean was alive even if she was in a coma. She dropped everything at work and drove as fast as she could to the mansion.
Jean looked like she was sleeping, there were no bruises or cuts that she could see in her body. She seemed to be resting, it was almost peaceful. Emma probed Jean’s mind, tried to call her but there was no answer. She sat on a chair beside the hospital bed and never left. Ororo and Hank often came to check on them, begging Emma to go home, eat something, take a shower. Eventually she left to take care of her basic needs but as soon as she was done she was back in the same chair. She was loosing her mind, always imagining the worse, wondering if Jean would ever wake up.
And then she did.
"What are you doing here?"
Emma who was sleeping in a chair by the bed was startled awake by the question. She couldn't believe she was finally seeing Jean’s green eyes or that she was hearing her voice again and she could already feel the tears welling up in her eyes.
"You’re awake?!" She got up to take Jean’s hand in hers but the redhead pulled away.
"Where am I? What are you doing to me?"
"You’re in Hank’s lab. Are you alright? Are you in pain?"
"I’m fine. Where’s Scott? Or Ororo?"
"Oh, I think they’re working. I can get them to come down here if you’d like."
"If I’d like?! Why are you being nice? Did you put me in the hospital? Is this your fault?"
"What? Jean, there was an explosion on the Blackbird, don’t you remember?"
"Not really no… What are you doing here anyway? Are you trying to kidnap me?"
"No, I told you, we’re in McCoy’s lab, at the mansion. Jean what is the last thing you remember?"
"My memory is fine Frost, I just want to know why I’m walking up with the White Queen sleeping in a chair next to my bed?!"
Emma knew something was very wrong, she hadn't been the White Queen in a very long time.
"Jean… I’m not the White Queen anymore… What year do you think this is?"
"2014"
2014 was years before they even met, Jean had no idea who she was beyond the White Queen, she had no idea they had been together for the last 4 years. A lonely tear started to run down Emma’s cheek, she couldn't breathe. Emma had spent the last months waiting for her lover to wake up, not even knowing if she ever would but she didn't lose hope, not once. Everyday she probed Jean’s mind, trying to wake her, sending memories to her, hoping to get a sign, anything at all. This, however never once came through her mind, she never imagined the possibility that Jean wouldn't remember her. She needed to talk to McCoy, he needed to fix this.
"Why are looking at me like this? Are you crying? What have you done Emma?"
It was such a cliché, her lover waking up with no memories. It was almost as if the universe wanted to piss her off, prove to her that she was as insignificant as the rest of the world. She wasn't even better than a cliché.
Emma never thought Jean wouldn't remember her, amnesia never crossed her thoughts. She was stupid, it should have been her first thought, she had a head wound after all. But she was too worried wondering if Jean would ever even wake up to wonder if her memory would be intact.
The apartment was quite dusty, she looked around and it was just like she left it. She could see the mantle laying on the couch, they were watching a cooking TV reality show, wondering who would win, making plans to visit some new chef’s restaurant. Jean was always cold and there was always a mantle on the couch for her. Emma was the opposite, she was always hot. She grabbed the piece of cloth and brought it to her nose, it smelled of Jean and she could feel the tears welling up again.
In the kitchen there were two mugs, Emma could remember telling Jean to be careful and that they had an appointment with their doctor the next day. Jean assured her everything would be fine and kissed her one last time.
Emma couldn't stay home, not if everything she laid her eyes on made her cry. She left everything as it was, put some clothes in a travel bag and left for a hotel.
***********
McCoy ran several tests and he couldn't find anything wrong with Jean. There was no explanation as to why she couldn't remember anything. It had been a week of tests, exams and procedures. Eventually Ororo and McCoy told Jean the truth, that she had lost the last 6 years of memories. At first Jean couldn't believe it, everything seemed normal to her, it was as if nothing had happened.
"Look at your wrist."
"What?" Jean looked at Ororo not understanding the point of looking at her wrist.
"Your wrist, there’s a scar, do you remember how you got it?"
"I don't have a scar on… -Oh… there’s a scar."
"Do you remember how you got it?"
Emma was outside, on the other side of the door, listening in, crossing her fingers, hoping Jean would say yes and she’d suddenly get all her memories back. Jean saying 'no' shouldn't have been a surprise but it was worse than a gut punch, it had been a week already and Jean still had no memory of their past. Emma waited and hoped patiently that Jean would remember, she stayed away, she gave Jean time but there was no change.
Emma couldn't hold the tears, she put her hands on the wall trying to hold herself up. She was realizing that she might never get Jean back, she might not get her wife back…
She couldn't believe how stupid she was, the past years were nothing but an illusion, there was no way she’d be able to be happy, there was no happy ending for people like her… Jean made her careless, convinced her that nothing was ever going to happen to them, that their love was true. Jean was the optimistic one and she convinced her they could be happy just to have it all taken from her. This was worse than death, worse than being tortured… worse than feeling millions of deaths on Genosha.
She couldn't breathe, she was on the verge of having a panic attack when she saw someone beside her, it was Ororo. The woman must have taken pity on her because the next thing she knew she was bawling her eyes out in Ororo’s arms.
"Everything will be fine Emma, you have to believe she’ll get her memories back. Jean always bounces back."
Of course, Emma didn't share Ororo’s optimism.
"What am I going to do?"
"You’ll wait. You’ve been waiting all this time for her to wake up and she did, now you have to wait for her to get her memories back."
"What if she doesn’t?"
"She will Emma. You have to believe."
***********
Emma woke up in her hotel room again, it had been a month since her talk with Ororo. Emma would call Hank everyday to have news on Jean but everyday it was the same answer, there was no progress and Emma was loosing hope. She left for work, it was the only thing keeping her sane. But once she arrived in her office she was surprised to see Ororo waiting for her.
"What are you doing here Ororo?"
"I went to your place, you weren’t there. And you’re not answering my calls."
"Has she regained her memories?"
"No."
"Then I don't see what we have to say to each other." She answered nonchalantly.
"I’m here to ask you to help us."
"With what?"
"With your wife Emma! Jean! Remember her?" Ororo was loosing her patience and seemed exasperated.
"Is this some sort of sick joke to you?"
"Emma…"
"My wife doesn't remember me. Not only she does not remember me, she seems to despise me. She thinks I’m the fucking White Queen. So I don’t know what the hell you want me to do but I’m not some fucking masochist!"
"I didn't mean it like that."
"Yes, you did."
"You’re the only one who can help her, we don't know what to do anymore."
"I can’t go back…"
"She still hasn't got her powers back and she’s having headaches, Hank has no idea why, you’re a telepath, you know her brain."
***********
The next morning Emma was gathering the courage to enter the mansion, Ororo ended up convincing her, she couldn't let Jean in pain. She wanted to go diamond and numb the outside world but then she wouldn't be able to help Jean. It was useless. As soon as she opened the door, she saw Jean looking at her, she looked angry and disgusted. Emma wanted to disappear.
"You’re back? Were you off having your way with some innocent mind?"
Emma ignored the jab at her, even though it hurt.
"Ororo asked me here to help you. We should go to your office."
"You? Help me?" Jean laughed incredulously. "What are you? A level 2?"
"It doesn’t matter. Level 2 or not, right now you have zero powers and I’m the only other telepath around."
They headed to Jean’s office, on the way Emma could see how pissed Jean was and she didn't need her powers to see it. In the office Emma wanted to sit on the couch but Jean sat in her office instead, wanting to maintain the power, Emma move the chair in front of Jean and they began.
Jean was trying very hard to keep Emma out but after years together, Jean’s brain was no mystery to her. Once she got in, Jean was slightly surprised at how easily Emma got in and she immediately raised all her barriers, shutting Emma out.
"How did you do this?"
"How am I supposed to help you if you don't let me take a look?"
"How did you get inside my head?"
"I did this before Jean, more than once. We’ve been inside each other’s head before. Now can we do this?"
Jean was still suspicious but she lowered her barriers again and Emma got in, she scanned Jean’s brain, trying to find out why she was having headaches but couldn't find anything. As to her powers, they were there, they were still recovering, maybe that was why she was having headaches… Emma couldn't tell for sure. Emma left Jean’s brain and when she opened her eyes Jean was looking at her expectantly.
"So?"
"Your powers are there, but it’s healing, your brain is still healing. You have to use your powers as if your were a beginner."
"Are you kidding me?!"
"No, you need basic exercises, when you’re healed enough you can try more advanced training."
"I’m not doing basic training!"
"You’ve been trying to scan my brain unsuccessfully ever since I arrived-"
"How do you- what level are you?"
"I’ve evolved. Now, lower your shields and try to guess what number I’m thinking of."
"What? That’s child training!"
"And how is trying to scan my brain going for you? Your shields are useless against me Jean, I can easily get past them so just do as you’re told."
[Bitch!]
"I heard that. See, your shield is useless against me."
Jean finally accepted defeated, she lowered her shield and successfully guessed the number Emma was thinking of. They kept doing easy tasks until they were both too tired to continue.
Emma was leaving Jean’s office when she saw Ororo waiting for her outside.
"So, how did it go?"
"Her powers are there, she just needs practice. As for the headaches I couldn't find anything and she said she wasn't having any."
"What about her memories?"
"There’s nothing."
"What do you mean?
"The last 6 years are gone from her brain, I don't exist for her, all she remembers me from is the villain from Hellfire! Her memories aren’t hidden somewhere I can access, they’re just not there! I can't get to something that doesn't exist in the first place!"
"Emma… I’m sorry."
"Don’t."
"Don’t loose hope Emma."
"Bullshit!"
"What?"
"You must be loving this! You hated that we were together. You finally got your friend back!"
"Emma, I… at first yes, I didn't understand you two together, but I saw how happy you two were. I was happy for her!"
"Well, I’m no longer in the picture."
"Emma?"
"I have to go."
Emma left the mansion and as soon as she got inside her car she started crying. She went back to her hotel and drank herself to sleep.
***********
Both women kept training almost daily and Jean was getting stronger but the stronger Jean was the worse Emma felt, she lost weight, she couldn't sleep. She spent most of her time in diamond form, avoiding any feeling.
She buried herself in her work but besides that she didn't have the will to do anything else.
Every time she left the mansion she went back to her hotel room and drank until she passed out.
Emma looked so ill that even Ororo started to worry about her. Emma was about to go into Jean’s office when Ororo stopped her.
"Emma what is going on? I’ve never seen you like this?"
"What do you mean?"
"You look ill. When is the last time you ate something?"
"My wellbeing isn't your business Ororo."
"You’re acting like you’re mourning her but she’s right there!"
"I am in her brain almost daily Ororo, my wife is dead. Her love for me is dead… don’t you get that?! The only person who ever loved me doesn't remember me, I am nothing to her."
"But she’s alive, you have to believe we’ll find a solution!"
"I scanned every inch of her brain, her memories aren’t there."
"Emma, I’m so sorry."
Emma was tired of arguing with Ororo, tired of everyone saying sorry, tired of everyone pitying her! She couldn't do this anymore, Jean was destroying her, as soon as Jean got her powers back she was done.
***********
Jean was a very fast learner since she actually didn't need to learn anything, she just needed a reminder and for the first time Jean successfully went into Emma’s brain, the blonde of course was very careful as to what Jean could see.
[Why do you have so many barriers up?] Emma ignored Jean’s question in her head and severed the link.
"Congratulations, you’re a telepath again."
"Thank you, it’s a relief! I was worrying I might not be able to use my powers again."
"It was a matter of time. Should we try that again?"
Emma lowered her mental shields and let Jean in, as the first time she led Jean towards a very specific path in her brain, letting Jean see just enough. But then Emma let her mind wander and she felt Jean jump at the opportunity trying to push her barriers.
Emma immediately shut her mind down going into diamond form, effectively cutting Jean’s link to her mind.
"What do you think you’re doing?!"
"Wow, what happened? Are you… is that ice?"
"Diamond."
"Of course you’d turn diamond! When did that happen?"
"Is that what being a so called hero is? Going forcefully into someone’s mind?! Who the fuck are you? Because the Jean I knew would never try to mind rape someone!"
"Calm down, I’m sorry okay!"
"You knew what you were doing, don't you dare say you were sorry!"
"I’m sorry, I really am, I don't know what came over me."
"The lesson is over Jean."
"Emma?!"
There was no answer, Emma had already left.
***********
Emma couldn't stop shaking, she was in shock. A part of her still hoped that one day Jean would remember her, would remember them but the woman she saw in the office was nothing like her Jean, it was like looking at a stranger.
For the first time since Jean woke Emma felt truly hopeless… Her Jean would never hurt anyone, much less invade their mind forcefully.
Emma couldn't believe Jean did such a thing, she never thought she was capable of it.
Ororo accused her of mourning Jean but she was wrong, deep inside Emma still hoped, she was just too afraid to say it out loud.
She decided to go back to her home, hers and jean's, she missed her wife, she needed a reminder that the woman she was seeing everyday and her wife were in fact the same, she needed a reminder that Jean used to love her…
She walked home, took her clothes off and got into bed, holding Jean’s pillow, smelling her wife in the linens.
***********
That same night Jean was having dinner with Ororo and she couldn't help but feel awful about what she did to Emma.
"Is everything alright?" Ororo asked her friend.
"Emma turned diamond during our session today."
"It’s her secondary mutation. What happened? Why did she turn diamond?"
"I might have done something bad…"
"What have you done Jean?"
"It wasn’t- I, I don't know what came over me. I immediately regretted it, believe me! I just wanted a peak of her mind."
"Jean! Emma is… my god. She’s been through too much already."
"Are you defending her?! You?!"
"Yes, I am! Because you’re being an asshole and she doesn't deserve it. She’s done nothing but help you, when she doesn't have to! You can’t be mean to her, not right now."
"What happened to her?"
"Too much."
"Is that how she got her secondary mutation?"
"In part, yes. There was an attack a few years back, Genosha was destroyed by sentinels. Many mutants moved to Genosha, Emma was one of them. No one knew about the attack, no one expected anything. Around 16 million people died, there are still ONGs over there trying to identify the remains and bury them properly. Very few survived the attack."
"Emma survived…"
"Barely… she felt it all, all the deaths. As you explained to me it was too much for her brain and that’s when her new mutation kicked in, it protected her, she’s almost invincible in her diamond form but she looses her telepathic abilities. Anyone else would have gone insane, being stuck in the rubble, being crushed to death and hearing and feeling everyone else around her dying."
"16 million people?!"
"Yes, and she felt it all."
"Her being alive is a miracle."
"You saved her, you found her in the rubble, all her students dead around her. You thought she was a ghost when you saw her. You saved her Jean and you’ve been friends ever since. Try to imagine how hard this must be for her, having the woman she lo- ...the woman who saved her, her friend, treating her like shit all the time."
Jean went to the library and started looking through everything she could find on Genosha, she couldn't believe she couldn't remember such an awful event, she should be traumatized by it. Eventually she saw pictures of Emma’s rescue, it was unbelievable the blonde was alive at all. She suddenly started to feel bad about everything.
***********
"I talked to Emma, I convinced her to come back, but if you ever pull such a stunt again it’s over Jean, so behave this time!"
"I will, I still can’t believe I was such an asshole to her."
"Your headaches seem better."
"Yes, I’m still having them at night but in the day I barely have them anymore."
"That’s good, maybe the time with Emma is paying of."
***********
Emma was leaving the mansion when saw Hank coming her way, she tried to ignore him, the last thing she wanted was someone else taking pity on her but the man was intent on talking to her.
"Emma please?"
"What do you want Hank?"
"I’m sorry but we need to talk…"
Once again people was saying sorry, it seemed like everyone started conversations with her with those words.
"I have to go Hank, I don’t have the time…"
"It’s been a month, you should arrange the funeral."
Emma stopped dead in her track, she couldn't talk.
"I’m sorry to bring this up but you have to tell her and you two need to plan the funeral, you need to do something Emma."
"I’ll make the arrangements but I’m not telling her. There is no point in telling her something she doesn't remember."
"It was her daughter too Emma."
"No, it wasn’t, it was my daughter and I lost her, I lost them both, she lost nothing."
Emma left the mansion and called a funeral home to make the necessary arrangements to bury her daughter.
When Jean and her got married, the redhead told her that she wanted a family, at first Emma wasn't too keen on passing down her genes but she wanted to make Jean happy. In the end their doctor explained that Emma’s eggs had more chances of survival and Jean ended up carrying Emma’s baby. When Jean started feeling nauseous they knew she was pregnant and they couldn't be more happy. Jean was almost 8 months pregnant when the explosion happened. The baby didn't survive, Emma was devastated but she knew she needed to be strong, Jean would need her to be strong when she’d wake up. It was all useless in the end.
"How is she?"
"She’s alive, but she’s in a coma. I still don’t fully understand why… she’ll wake up eventually, it could be tomorrow, in a week or in a year. I don’t know what is going on Emma, I need to do more research."
"And the baby?"
"Emma… the blast of the explosion was too strong, when she arrived the baby was already dead, Jean had so much internal bleeding."
"I see…"
"I’m so sorry Emma."
"Did you take the baby out?"
"Not yet, she’s not strong enough to endure another procedure but eventually we’ll have to induce labour.
Hank waited for a week before he could take the baby, he explained the procedure to Emma, who ran to the nearest garbage to throw up.
"Emma, it’s done… do you want to see the baby?"
"No! I can’t…"
"She’s your daughter Emma, you should say goodbye."
"She?"
"It’s a girl."
"I can’t do this…"
"You can Emma, you’re the strongest human being I know, you’ve survived so much Emma, you’ll survive this too. I’ll be by your side, Ororo too."
"This is worse than everything Hank…"
In the end she decided to go in and see her daughter, she was bundled in Jean’s arms, it could have been perfect if she wasn't dead and her mother in a coma. Hank brought the baby to her, she took her in her arms and immediately started to cry, yet again, there was a dead child in her arms.
***********
When Emma arrived at the mansion with the funeral people, all the x-men were there waiting for her.
"We’re coming with you Emma, you’re not doing this alone."
"I don’t need you to come."
"We’re still coming."
Emma had a lake house were she would often spend the Hollidays, when she started dating Jean she brought her to the house and the redhead immediately fell in love with it. They would always go whenever they could. When they found out they were expecting they couldn't wait to bring their child.
Emma didn't want to bury her daughter in some cemetery, she wanted to keep her close, in a familiar place, she chose the lake house, there was a small hill overlooking the lake, it was beautiful and very peaceful, her brother was buried there too, she hoped they would keep each other company.
The ceremony was short and simple. Emma wasn't particularly religious but the priest’s words were comforting and she knew Jean would have wanted it. When it was done she went into the house hoping everyone else would take their cue and leave. Unfortunately for her Ororo was intent on making her life miserable.
"Why are you still here Ororo? Everybody left already."
"I know but I’m not leaving you alone right now."
"I don’t need you here."
"Jean would have wanted me to stay with you."
"See, you already referring to her in the past too…" For a second Emma almost felt sorry for Ororo but she quickly remembered that nothing changed for her, she still had her best friend. "A small part of me is actually grateful that she doesn't have to go through this, she would have been devastated."
Emma spend the rest of the week at the lake house, she couldn't go back to Jean, not yet. She didn't have the strength.
***********
"Frost, you’re back?! Where were you off to?"
Emma ignored Jean’s comment and just started their lesson. She was not in the mood for bickering.
As they were going through their lesson, Emma realized it was going to be a very long hour, Jean was bursting with energy and wanted to push her around. Emma was too tired to take it, she turned diamond again, severing the link with Jean and got up to leave.
"What have I done now?"
"I have to go…"
"We still have 20 min."
Emma didn't say anything.
***********
"I think she’s a traitor?"
"What? Who?"
"Emma, I think she’s a traitor or she’s planning something shifty."
"Jean…" Ororo sighed, she was tired of having to convince Jean that Emma wasn't the enemy.
"Emma has changed, she’s an integral part of the x-men."
"It wouldn't be the first time someone we trusted betrayed us."
"Jean, what is going on, what happened?"
"I told you, she’s hiding something. There are so many walls on her brain, every time I try to push them she goes diamond and storms off."
"Jean… last week she was off to arrange a funeral. She’s having a very hard time lately. This is all very hard for her, up until a few months ago you were… -friends. So imagine how she must have been feeling with you treating her like a traitor all the time."
"I didn't know she lost someone, it’s just that there’s something wrong with her, I can feel it."
"I know this must be hard Jean. Just remember that she’s probably feeling the same way."
***********
Emma had finished her session with Jean and was about to get in her car when Ororo got in her way, again.
"What is it Ororo? I’m leaving."
"I haven’t talked to you since you came back, I was wondering how you’re doing?"
"I’m not in the mood for senseless small talk Ororo."
"Fine. I was also thinking that you need to tell her the truth."
"No. Can I leave now?"
"If you won’t I will."
"No, you won’t, none of you will, I made sure of that."
"Emma?!"
"Does that really surprise you Ororo?"
"She’s lost, she keeps saying you’re a traitor, she doesn't understand what is going on and why we keep hiding it from her… You said so yourself, there’s no way for her to get her memories back so why hide them from her?!"
"She hates me Ororo. It’s not that she doesn't like me, she hates me, I disgust her… the woman I love finds me disgusting… can you imagine what her reaction will be when she finds out we’re actually married?!"
"Emma… We owe her the truth."
"The last five years are all I have left, it’s what’s keeping me alive… If she learns the truth she’ll hate me even more, so much more… and I won’t be able to take it. I’m barely keeping it together as it is."
Emma went in her car and left Ororo wondering what she meant with those words.
***********
Emma was giving Jean yet another lesson, this time they were at a mall and Jean was practicing how to scan a crowd. The lesson went on without a hitch until Emma was driving Jean back to the mansion, they were both quiet, neither was in the mood for small talk, at least that’s what Emma thought.
"Why are you so pissed and sad all the time?" Jean asked breaking the silence.
"Why do you care?"
"I want to know, you’re so different from what I remember, I’m wondering what happened."
"I lost someone I loved."
"Oh, I’m sorry Emma. Was it in Genosha?"
"No." Emma carefully pondered what her next words would be. "When the Blackbird exploded."
"The explosion I lost my memory?"
"Yes."
"I didn't know someone died. Ororo won’t let me see the file, she says I’m not ready."
"She’s right, you’re still recovering, when you’re strong enough you’ll know the truth."
"Is that why you have so many barriers up?"
"Yes… We’re here."
Emma was thankful they finally arrived at the mansion, Jean left the car and she headed home wondering if Ororo was right and if she should tell Jean the truth.
***********
"Why didn't you tell me she was seeing someone? Who was it by the way? She didn't really tell me anything. And why you never told me someone died in the explosion?"
"Slow down, what are you talking about?"
"Emma! I asked her what was going on, why she was so sad all the time. She lost her boyfriend in the same explosion I lost my memories."
"Did she tell you that?"
"Well, she said she lost someone she loved and then ran out as usual."
"If you have more questions you can ask her Jean, it’s not my place."
"I wonder what kind of person Emma would date…"
***********
Emma entered Jean’s office and was surprised to see the redhead looking quite mad.
"What is it?" Emma asked.
"You shielded everyone’s memories from me so I can’t access them!"
"Yes." Emma admitted, slightly worried that Jean scanned everyone’s brain.
"Why don’t you want me to access my memories?"
"Your memories? You lost them, remember?" Emma said matter of factly.
"I know, but you could give me access to yours or anyone else’s and I’d remember a lot more. It would be much easier that way."
"As you said, they’re my memories not yours, my memories are all I have."
"Seriously Emma, why do you have to be so dramatic all the time. I’m not asking you to share your secrets with me. Just give me glimpses of what I was like these last years."
"No." Emma answered simply and she could see Jean getting more and more frustrated.
"Seriously?!"
"I can’t."
"You’re supposed to help me Emma! Why won’t you give me something that’s mine in the first place?!"
Jean had enough, she put her hands in Emma’s face and tried to get back her memories by force. But as soon as she broke through the first layer of barriers, all she could feel was hurt and pain. She immediately regretted her actions and stopped what she was doing.
Emma didn't even have the time to sever the link, she was stunned that Jean would do something so despicable again.
"Emma I’m sorry." Jean expected Emma to storm off again but the blonde just sat there, dumbstruck, eyes filled with tears. "Emma please say something? I’m sorry okay."
Emma finally looked at her, the tears running down her cheeks
"Please, don’t cry, I’m sorry okay, that was stupid."
"We are done… I am done."
"Emma?"
"No, find yourself another teacher."
"But Emma, you’re the only one…"
"I don’t care."
"Emma I said I’m sorry, please?!"
"I can’t get back your memories, all I have are mine but if you want them so badly, here."
With a single touch to Jean’s forehead Emma gave her all the memories she had of them, from the moment Jean saved her in Genosha to the day she lost her in the explosion, she gave Jean everything, she knew it was too much but she was tired of walking on shells around the redhead, tired of being treated like shit, she was done.
Jean was on the floor, holding her head, in pain from the massive brain overload, Emma looked at her, wanting to help, wanting to take her in her arms, but she couldn’t, she needed to accept that her Jean was dead, so she grabbed her purse and left the manor promising herself to never come back.
