Chapter Text

rapid typing, the smell of coffee fresh from the pot, the warm feeling of socks. these are the most familiar things to yoongi. his fingers fly along the keyboard, composing email after email, each one being sent the second he gives a once over for typos. there are none.
outside, the day is beautiful. the sun is barely lighting the morning sky, the dew is still wet on the minimal grass in the modest garden outside his apartment building. it's for everyone but the ceo on his laptop, the curtains drawn to keep the rising sun off of the laptop screen.
yoongi keeps going, each email lightening his burden of work for the early morning. there's a meeting mid-morning, but that's in a few hours. after emails, it's a break for a few sips of coffee, then back to the grind.
later, there's another meeting, but it's in person and he'll need to travel outside the apartment with a crisp suit and tie. his office hours are afternoon and evening time and, yet, he works almost every hour. the company is much more important than something as frivolous as a day out in the sun for entertainment reasons.
his phone rings, but he doesn't pick it up. he isn't expecting any calls this early and therefore it can go to voicemail.
right at eight am his fingers stop and he clicks the 'send' button for the last email. his chair squeaks under his weight as he leans back, coffee and phone in hand. the minute clicks of his fingers tapping on the phone are the only noises in the apartment now.
he gets to his voicemail and lifts it to his ear only to be greeted by a distasteful ad for omega fertility. he sighs and deletes the voicemail, tossing his phone on his desk. he assumes someone signed his number up for those ads; disgruntled employee or a friend playing a prank, it doesn't matter.
the alpha feels annoyance creeping into his peaceful morning. to combat it, he breaks schedule a bit to stand and stretch his legs. but only for a minute. he only allows for a few sips of coffee and checking his phone in case there's any changes to schedule, then it's right back to work. nothing is more important than working — nothing.
it's at this point that there's a soft knock on his door. yoongi pauses, midway to sitting back down. he stares towards his office door, which leads out to the hallway and then to the door of his apartment. though it sounds soft, it's hard enough to have reached him in the back of his home.
normally yoongi would just ignore the knock and sit back down — it's likely a package or someone selling something or even a neighbor from below asking some inane question. he signs heavily then, curiosity, for whatever reason, leads him to break his schedule further and head towards the door.
he feels an itch under his skin, annoyance flaring once again. he doesn't like his schedule messed with.
upon opening the door, yoongi is surprised by the strong scent of omega that floods right to his nostrils from the male standing before him. they're the same height, eyes locking the second yoongi pays attention. instantly, the alpha feels himself on shaky legs.
"min yoongi, i presume?" the male asks with a feather light voice, thick lips curling into a pleased smile. "i'm park jimin, your new butler."
what.
before yoongi can even question it, jimin is stepping past him and into his apartment. his thick omega scent curls in the air and yoongi feels intimidated in his own home, his own den. without a word, he shuts the door, then rounds on jimin.
"what—"
"well, your mother was right — this is very much an alpha den," jimin comments, looking around at the excellency awards displayed in the case on the far side. the walls are covered in paintings and little shelves of simple vases. "well, a high class one anyways — i've seen alphas dens with more color."
and that has yoongi's alpha prickling. "who the fuck are you and why do you think you have the right to just barge into my home?"
unimpressed with yoongi's words, jimin turns to give him a pleasant smile. "i'm your butler... your mother hired me, did she not say?" and then he chuckles into his fist, cute little fingers curled into one.
"my mother?" yoongi asks, confused. he wonders, briefly, how his mother knows this man and then, his phone rings. the vibrating buzz of it clearly heard through the silent apartment.
yoongi locks eyes with jimin. "stay right here. do nothing, touch nothing." his alpha spikes up, scent thickening to combat jimin's sweet one that's slowly becoming stuck to everything. at this point, yoongi will need to fumigate his apartment.
the tread to the phone is a quick one, fingers snatching up the phone and answering it with a growl. "what!?"
"now is that any way to greet your mother?" the woman chuckles out.
it's a struggle between his alpha wanting to growl — the woman knows what she's done — and yoongi himself who just wants to know why.
"mother," yoongi breathes out slowly, collecting himself, "what is the meaning of this man claiming to be my new butler? do we live in eighteenth century england?"
his mother hums through the phone, the female alpha thinking about it for a moment before a light giggle leaves her. "no, my love, but you're my son and you don't take care of yourself. you treat the company as your child, but you know that the parent also needs to be taken care of, right?"
before yoongi can say a word, she continues, steamrolling over his alpha, "please at least try, you need to take better care of yourself. you're going to wind up in the hospital with something like lack of nutrients or sleep deprivation."
a sigh.
"alright, mom, alright..." his alpha deflates and recedes, the anger he felt before slowly fading. she ends the call first.
when he comes back into the living room, jimin stands where he was left, a smug smirk on his lips. "was that your mother? how is she?"
that anger flares again. "fuck you," yoongi growls, grabbing the man by the shoulders and dragging him to the door. the omega goes without a fight, allowing yoongi to kick him out of the apartment.
he sighs in relief, enjoying the moment of solitude before his phone buzzes in his pocket. when he checks it, there's a message from his mother.
min yoongi, you said you would try.
his eyes close tight, fingers gripping the phone in his hand. he breathes in deep and holds it, doesn't let it out for a few seconds. when he's sure that his lung are about to beg for air, he lets it all go with a whoosh.
then he opens the door.
"now, min yoongi ssi," jimin says with a smile, fingers holding onto a sleek silver phone. "let's get started."
"that was low." yoongi isn't impressed — is this omega going to call his mother every misstep? something tells yoongi he will.
jimin shrugs one shoulder and steps in, only this time he has luggage to drag behind him. yoongi says nothing, even ignoring jimin and leaving him in the living room while he returns to his office.
ignoring this will help. it has to.
&
"what?" yoongi snaps, fingers flying across his keyboard again. it's only been an hour and here jimin is, bothering him.
the omega just stands straight in front of his desk, delicate fingers pinching a sheet of paper between them. his luggage sits by his leg. if yoongi weren't already knowledgeable otherwise, it'd look like someone resigning and leaving the country.
"your new schedule." jimin introduces the sheet of paper with a little flourish.
this makes the alpha's typing stop. the cursor blinks on the screen as he raises his head to stare at the paper. "my fucking what?" he growls. he snatches the paper and looks over it.
how dare he. how dare this omega storm into his den and make demands of him.
jimin tilts his head as yoongi reads over the schedule. the paper shudders, yoongi's hands shaking and then the alpha is shredding the paper between his hands. he looks at jimin with a smirk.
"fuck your schedule."
having thought this would happen, jimin pulls out another piece of paper from a folder that's on top of his luggage and sets it down. he slides it across the desk. another copy of the schedule.
yoongi eyes him warily, gaze dropping down to the folder. "... how many copies do you even have?"
jimin smirks. "enough."
so now, not only is this omega demanding things of him, but he's clever and also, yoongi's desk is a mess thanks to the slivers of paper.
another growl, yoongi's lip curling up at jimin. "your schedule sucks."
the damn thing forces him to take 15 minute breaks throughout the day and demands he sleep at a given time every night. that cuts down so many productive hours. yoongi does get a day off already, can't he make his rest up then? not to mention, jimin scheduled some kind of hobby or entertainment time and what the fuck is that really?
"whatever you may think, this is your new schedule and you'll follow it." jimin doesn't even look fazed by yoongi's growling and snarling. it makes the alpha stop, stare, confused over this omega.
"fuck that — no, i won't. do better with it." the alpha says, turning jimin's demands back on him.
jimin raises one eyebrow. "you'll follow the one given. i made it with your mother's advice and she's given me express permission to manhandle you if necessary."
"i'd like to see you try," yoongi challenges, sitting up straighter in his chair and spiking his alpha scent threateningly.
"challenge accepted, alpha," jimin hums out, completely ignoring yoongi's display of dominance.
whatever that means, yoongi just huffs and begins clearing his desk of the shredded schedule. once he's done, he gets back to his email, half finished and about ten minutes off schedule. he makes a typo and slams his laptop shut, aggravated.
jimin still stands on the other side of his desk, a pleasant smile on his pretty lips, fingers clasped together behind his back. he looks completely demure, ready to take any order yoongi dishes, but oh, the alpha knows better than that. if looks are deceiving, jimin is the angel of deceit himself.
"what the fuck do you want now?" yoongi grunts, leaning back in his chair with a squeak.
"there's still the matter of a place to sleep."
a beat of silence, tense silence that feels so thick it could be cut with a butter knife.
"there's a lovely hotel three thousand miles away, i can even pay your room for three months if you want." yoongi gives his own pleasant smile back.
"actually, i was told you had a guest room that's never been used. how about there?" jimin offers, tone innocent, but there's that challenge in his eyes and his scent flares.
yoongi laughs. "how about fuck no?"
jimin hums, pursing his lips as he looks around the office. he puckers his lips out, nodding to himself. he produces his phone from his pocket and begins tapping on it.
instantly, yoongi is suspicious. "what are you doing?"
"calling your mother—"
yoongi stands from his chair so fast that his chair rolls back against the wall and hits it hard. "what the fuck is your problem!?"
jimin clicks his tongue, fingers pausing. "you seem to think that your alphaness is going to get you your way, but it isn't. so, you either accept that your mother hired me and let me do my job or this is going to get very hard... and i don't mean your knot, alpha."
there's an effort to say something back, but yoongi's mouth snaps shut the second jimin goes back to tapping on his phone.
"jesus fucking— fine. just do whatever then... at least it'll give me some goddamn peace..."
the longer he goes without getting his schedule done properly, the more yoongi feels like his brain is going to implode on itself. he wants nothing more than to get his work done undisturbed as he's done so far, but life has other plans. his mother has other plans.
satisfied with yoongi's answer, jimin smirks and shows yoongi that he wasn't typing a damn thing, but playing a game instead. yoongi can only stare, mouth parted to say something, but nothing comes out.
"very well, i'll go get unpacked and get started on breakfast for you. are you allergic to anything?"
as there's nothing yoongi can think to do about it, he wheels his chair back to his desk and plops into it ungracefully. "no..." he sighs out softly, weary from the spikes of anger and the overwhelming omega scent in his office. "i don't eat breakfast either—"
"you do now." and that's that. jimin leaves the office and there's the faint noise of him bustling around in one of the rooms. which one is anyone's guess, but he's out of yoongi's office.
as if yoongi doesn't have it hard enough.
&
the following days has yoongi on a strict schedule of sleep, eating, and work carefully laid out so that yoongi can get proper rest. morning consists of getting up at a decent hour, having some time for coffee and emails, then it's breakfast time. this, jimin insists, is a thirty minute affair even if yoongi eats everything in fifteen minutes.
lunch goes about the same. he gets to work for two hours after breakfast (with ten minute breaks between the hours), then jimin gets him out of his office to the little gym in his apartment he's barely touched for the last two years. there's twenty minutes of exercise, then ten minutes of break with another twenty minutes of exercise after. the remaining ten minutes of that hour are spent in a dark room with yoongi resting his muscles and his eyes. afterwards, lunch for another thirty minutes.
after lunch is where the real fun starts. it isn't the first day or two that the schedule is in effect, but soon jimin gets yoongi involved in walking a few blocks outside. he's supposed to enjoy the sights, the fresh air, but all yoongi can think about is all the reports he's letting just sit on his desk. he's not doing as much work as before and he hates it.
balancing life and work has never been yoongi's strong suit. he started from the bottom and worked his ass off to get where he is now. the same company he used to file mail for is now the very company he heads over. there's older employees who would love to see him crash and burn and that fuels him to keep up his unhealthy habits. he knows it's not good, but he hates failing at anything. he has to be the best and offer the best at all times, even if his body protests it.
when evening time rolls around, it takes jimin a long time to get yoongi to rest. his hands keep drifting to his phone to answer one last email. finally, jimin decides that confiscating yoongi's phone in the evening time is the best solution.
it's with a bit of embarrassment that yoongi finally admits that he doesn't really do hobbies or rest time. he doesn't have time to develop a hobby. with some coaxing, jimin finally manages to get yoongi to admit to enjoying movies and going out to the bar before he got so caught up in work. jimin is also surprised to find yoongi has friends who still do things like that, but he's rejected going with them so often that they've stopped asking. further coaxing yields nothing but a growl from yoongi.
so, in the evening, jimin lines up a movie based on the type yoongi used to enjoy and gets him sat down in front of it. it's still a struggle as yoongi doesn't want to engage with the movie, but he eventually gets into it and turns into a completely different person. the fiery alpha is such a soft person sitting there as he quietly contemplates whatever movie jimin has found for him.
it's cute, actually.
as cute as it is though, jimin doesn't know one thing about yoongi.
he's an expert at pretending.
behind the back of the self-proclaimed 'butler', yoongi has been working at night. he has two laptops for a reason. one is his office laptop and the other is his travel laptop. it's slow and not in as mint condition as his office one due to the times he's traveled with it in tow. but it works and it suits his need to type emails and work on other sheets that are important to the company. instead of the generous ten pm bedtime he's been given, there are times he doesn't actually sleep until well after three am.
what yoongi doesn't know is that jimin is observant.
almost inhumanly so.
&
after two weeks of jimin's presence, yoongi actually doesn't feel any better. he doesn't look better either. his alpha scent has a consistently sour smell, but it's so minute that jimin can't tell it until he's right next to yoongi or he's stepped into the alpha's bedroom. it's puzzling. jimin intentionally made such a good schedule to get the man to feel better and it isn't working. part of him wonders if there's something wrong with yoongi, something that could prompt a doctor visit.
just when he's thinking about consulting yoongi's mother though, jimin comes in to wake yoongi (as usual) and pauses. instead of sleeping peacefully as jimin has seen him the past two weeks, he's hunched over a different laptop. instantly, his anger flares. he's been lied to and he fell for it for two weeks.
not one to mince words or filter himself for someone, jimin flicks the overhead light on and he's not sure if it's the click of the switch or the sudden brightness, but yoongi stirs awake. there's instant panic and jimin just stands there and watches as yoongi attempts hiding his sin.
"i made that schedule to make sure you followed it. i made it to help you, yoongi..." the omega drops all semblance of respect. he's pissed and yoongi will know it.
he takes a step forward, fists clenched at his sides as he continues, "and you're in here doing exactly what i'm trying to prevent. all this time, i wondered what was wrong, if there was something medically wrong with you... i almost called your mother to get you to a doctor...." the words are gritted out, omega scent spiking with the spice of anger.
yoongi glares, his own soured alpha scent spiking up. "i was doing fine before you. my mother loves to stick her nose where she thinks she's helping but she's really just invading..." his voice gets deeper with a growl. "you don't need to be here. i'll pay severence if that's what you're looking for, omega." he spits the title out with an anger he hasn't felt in a long time.
through the small tirade, jimin stands there, shoulders hunched up and fists balled. it continues.
"you're not needed, omega. i didn't ask for your help and i damn sure don't want some omega bossing me around in my own fucking den. you don't get where i am sitting around watching movies and eating three meals a day."
jimin nods his head to yoongi. his stance changes then, fingers relaxing as he crosses his arms over his chest instead, eyebrows raising as if goading yoongi into continuing his mini-rant.
this stuns yoongi into quiet. usually his growling and snapping gets his employees, and friends, to back off. jimin seems completely unbothered now, facial expression schooled into one that just pisses yoongi off more. it runs out of steam so fast though, confusion weighing more than his own anger in the moment.
"are you done, alpha?" jimin asks, tone suggesting that he doesn't really care what yoongi thinks because the alpha will do what he says no matter what. "need i remind you that your mother said i could manhandle you if you gave me trouble?"
yoongi snorts. "as if you'd dare."
"is that a challenge, alpha?" jimin asks, lips quirking into that pleasant smile that only means bad things for yoongi.
yoongi splutters. "stop calling me alpha, i'm not your fucking alpha." the way jimin says it makes yoongi feel so small in his own apartment. he hates that feeling (no, he doesn't).
"sounded like a challenge to me, alpha. are you done with your ranting? are you ready to eat? what about we have some eggs and rice this morning? you'll need your strength since you're refusing to sleep well."
with that said, jimin turns on his heels and walks out, leaving both the light on and the door wide open. yoongi feels there's no choice but to follow after the omega. he doesn't get dressed into his usual button up and slacks, which is a big no no for yoongi in the morning right before work.
at the counter bar, yoongi flops into one of the stools and just stares at the back of jimin's head as he works on getting things cooked for them. jimin always eats at the same time as yoongi. it's all very domestic and disgustingly so. yoongi hates it all.
"so," jimin starts casually, cracking another egg into the pan. the sizzle of it almost covers up his remaining sentence. almost. "are you always using that alpha voice to get your way?"
yoongi blinks. was he using his alpha voice? oh. "guess i do..." he mumbles, cheek puffed up against the hand he's leaning on. he's slouching again and jimin is likely to scold him for it, but who cares. he's staring at jimin still, trying to decide if the man is going to sprout another head or if his scent will suddenly change into an alpha's. no omega has ever acted like this around him.
jimin actually laughs, shoulders shaking. it's light like a bell then there's a little snort and it's the cutest thing. then yoongi is wanting to slap himself. "oh yeah? well, you used it on me. it's been a while since an alpha's tried that with me. you've got some brass ones."
there's a huff, but nothing more from the alpha. then, breakfast is served and yoongi just eats while watching jimin from the corner of his eyes. he yawns midway to another bite and it's so wide that he has to set his fork down and cover his mouth. he really wishes he'd gotten more sleep now.
it's only made worse when he glances to jimin after and sees the man poorly suppressing a smug smile around his own fork, the bastard.
once breakfast is over, yoongi leaves to his office, still pajama clad. he's already broken so much of his routine now that he can't find it in him to really care too much about it. on top of that, he's exhausted and just knows that there's been a lot of typos in his emails lately.
&
days pass with yoongi falling more and more out of his own routine and into jimin's instead. the omega decides that confiscating his travel laptop and hiding it somewhere is the best way to go. yoongi, strangely, doesn't feel the need to go and hunt for it.
the more he follows jimin's schedule, the less need he feels to get to his emails after work hours are over. it's nice to eat dinner in peace, to watch a movie and just rest. he finds himself actually enjoying his offtime.
this doesn't negate that he's suspicious of jimin and his whole aura. the man doesn't act anything like an omega and it confuses the hell out of yoongi. not that he has such a backwards view that he thinks an omega can't be more powerful or whatever, but jimin is so disarming that yoongi is struggling to get his head around it even after over a month of the man being in his home.
it's so suspect that yoongi decides to question his mother the next weekly call.
it's a friday afternoon, during his lunch break. instead of being offended that yoongi eats quickly to be on the phone, jimin encourages him. he's shooed out of the kitchen. instead of heading to his office, he goes right to his bedroom, closing the door behind him to have complete privacy.
"hello, my baby!" his mother chirps happily through the handset.
yoongi greets her, gets all the formalities out of the way and they begin talking about how they're each doing. this is when yoongi takes his moment to ask her.
"say, mom, where did you find jimin?"
"you talk like he's an old friend, my baby~"
he ignores as his mother coos over how casual yoongi's gotten with jimin and asks again.
"hm, it was an agency i found actually... someone recommended it to me, why do you ask?" she sounds so confused.
"what's the name of the agency?" yoongi asks, gripping his phone tighter. so there is some kind of legitimate place jimin comes from.
his mother hums thoughtfully. he can hear the whoosh of her walking, the breeze of it against her mic. then the rustling of something before she does her little 'aha' when finding something important. "it was dream services, why do you ask?"
"dream services?" yoongi asks to confirm.
"yes, that's correct — but wait, is there something wrong? jimin's reports have all been very positive about you, except for one a short time ago, but that changed... is there another issue?" she sounds so concerned that yoongi can't find it in him to lie to her.
he rubs the back of his neck and begins to pace back and forth across the rug that stretches from the bottom of his bed. "nothing bad, i just... he doesn't act like an omega, so i just wanted to know more about where he comes from. if there's some kind of course or something they do for their employees that make them like him."
she chuckles. "i'm not sure, but good luck, my son. i have to get going, it's time for some more phone calls, but have a good day. we'll talk soon."
with an exchange of i love you's, yoongi hangs up and immediately begins searching for dream services. time is slowly slipping away from him as he looks for any information about the place, but it's a bare website at best. too formal and almost fake in a way.
he types in other keywords like 'omega butler' and 'hardcore butler' but those yield about what one would expect to find on the internet. he growls in frustration and is just about to give up when he decides to go back to the site and click on every single link he can find.
that's when he gets a hit.
dream services, offering the best in the bdsm scene! Hire one of our specialized talents! we have subs, we have versatiles, we have doms! you have a desire? we can fulfill it!
yoongi sits in silence, staring at the advertisement. it's actually very classy, just the right amount of skin revealed to entice someone. it'd be able to be shown on television with how classy it looks. given its subject matter though, that's what would have it censored from any public advertisement.
all he can think is: does his mother know she hired a professional bdsm dom to be his butler? another question is: why did jimin take this job knowing it's not bdsm related?
he can't help but be a bit offended. did jimin take this as some sick joke? is he aware of who yoongi is and maybe wants to make a good laugh out of him to colleagues? he huffs and tries to exit the page only to click on the advertisement, which leads him to a new, darker website.
this one leaves no doubt on what it is exactly. there's sexual positions, toys on display, the whole shebang. yoongi's cheeks heat instantly and he's reminded that he hasn't gotten to enjoy a proper rut in some time. he coughs and looks through the site, curious over the whole thing.
he finds a talent section, thinking it's some kind of sign up sheet for people or maybe someone seeking employment, but no — it's a page filled with their offered people. jimin is among them, a coy smile on his lips in the picture. he also has pink hair, which is not what his jimin has right now.
his jimin. oh dear fucking god, no.
with a shake of his head, he clicks on jimin's picture and is lead to his small page. it gives little personal information. what it does give is jimin's specialties and yoongi's eyes instantly zoom to one phrase — brat tamer.
he closes the page, closes his browser, and turns off his phone. that's enough internet for the day, thank you.
the time for lunch break is long over and yoongi still sits at the edge of his bed, eyes glaring at his phone. he wants to glare at his mother, at jimin, at the website. his alpha doesn't need this, it only makes him angrier knowing that jimin might get all turned on when he acts out. he huffs and grabs a pillow to slam over the phone as if hitting it is really going to help anything.
"yoongi?" jimin's sweet voice rings from the other side of the door. "are you okay — break is over?"
who gave him the right to sound so cute when he's concerned over yoongi?
"i'm fine," yoongi shouts back, slamming the pillow a few more times onto his phone before composing himself and exiting his room. his hair is disheveled and he's red in the face from exertion and embarrassment.
that coy grin doesn't escape yoongi's side eye as he passes jimin in the hallway, pushing past the omega. his alpha scent is spiked with arousal so he guesses jimin is just going to assume he's done something in his bedroom. it's not just for sleeping you know!
he slams his office door behind himself and he gets back to work in a huff, shuffling through papers and growling the whole time. he hates his mother, he hates jimin, he hates that site.
most of all, he hates that he likes it.
what's more is that there's this sick desire to look more into jimin. the site didn't offer personal information and jimin is amiable, but hasn't really said much about himself. it doesn't help that yoongi isn't good with small talk except with his mother, who leads the conversation most days anyway.
this time when he opens the internet search, it's to find a private investigator. if yoongi can't ask jimin and jimin won't offer it... yoongi will find out about the omega another way. he probably shouldn't — no, he definitely shouldn't, but logic kicks back to take a rest in the back of his mind. he has to know more, has to know why jimin would take a job like this too, but that's not the biggest priority.
logic says he'll regret this later, but that's all from the bastard.
&
"what the fuck do you mean?" yoongi growls into the phone, knuckles white as he grips his desk. he glares at the headline on his laptop, the one revealing that a company they recently invested in is, in fact, some kind of drug den or something. headlines usually blow it up worse than it is, but the more yoongi reads, the more he thinks about how ruined he is.
he slams the laptop shut and starts barking orders through his phone, telling his chief operating officer to get to work on calling appropriate people to get their files cleaned and investment pulled. he won't lose his company over this. meanwhile, he's got other important calls to take, namely to the other investments and the board.
right as he hangs up, jimin steps through the door, eyebrows knitted and lips drawn into a frown.
"what was that? why did you slam your laptop?"
yoongi sighs, running his hand down his face. "well, i'm ruined for one... for another, i won't have time to take a break today. i have important calls to make."
"it sounds like you need a break now more than ever," jimin replies, eyebrows raised as if challenging yoongi to protest. still, he's concerned about yoongi.
"i don't have time for a break."
jimin hums softly and thinks about arguing the point, but he lets it go. "for now, i'll leave you be." and then he's closing the door behind him, leaving yoongi to his business.
part of yoongi had hoped jimin would offer to take his mind off of things by making him sit and eat, but the other part is grateful the omega didn't try his bullshit. he doesn't think it would end very pretty right now.
with another sigh that ends in a growl, he sits up straight and gets on calling the people on his side. he can't show he's rattled by this news to the board members. he'll get this shit figured out without a doubt. how, he isn't sure yet, but it'll come to him.
hours pass as yoongi calls each board member to get them into a call together, schedules meetings with other investors, other company shareholders. anyone and everyone yoongi can think of, he calls. lunch is forgotten even though jimin brings it to him with a cold glass of water.
there's no break taken even as jimin pops his head in the door and tries to get yoongi's attention. delicate fingers tap on his wrist like there's a watch there, but yoongi waves him off each time. jimin's expression darkens with every wave off he gets.
when dinner time rolls around, yoongi is mid-call with his chief operating officer again when jimin steps into the room, plate in hand. the smell of bulgogi drifts to yoongi and all he can do is touch his stomach when it grumbles, protesting his lack of food. there, on his desk, sits lunch and after lunch's snack, both untouched.
jimin breathes in deep, waits patiently for yoongi to get off the phone, which doesn't happen for another fifteen minutes.
"what?" yoongi snaps at jimin, annoyed by his constant hovering in the door way for the past twenty minutes.
"you haven't eaten since this morning," jimin replies with a nod towards the untouched food on yoongi's desk. his gaze drops to it and guilt swoops low in his stomach.
there's heat on yoongi's cheeks, on the back of his neck. "and?" he challenges, shrugging a shoulder. he ignores how his stomach grumbles again.
jimin clears his throat before taking a step into the room, then another, then another. when he's standing on the other side of the desk from yoongi, he sets the plate with steaming food on it down. "eat," jimin orders softly.
it's tempting, but yoongi is tired and jimin's tone sets off his annoyance easily. "i will when i'm good and ready, jimin. i'm not in the mood for your bullshit today."
there's a twitch in the corner of jimin's lips. yoongi can't tell if it's a smirk or something else. it doesn't matter. jimin won't get his way this time.
"eat, yoongi."
it's yoongi who breathes in this time, trying so hard to reign in his anger. "no."
that twitch happens again, just before jimin growls at him. it's deep, low in jimin's chest, and his teeth are pretty behind those full lips when they draw back in a snarl.
yoongi admires it for point two seconds before jumping from his chair and snarling back as his alpha compels him to. they're two feet apart, the desk between them, as they have a glaring stand off.
"back off, jimin... why don't you go find someone to dom and leave me in peace?" yoongi growls out, nails scraping across the desk.
that causes jimin to blink, lips back to normal. "what?"
"you don't think i know?" yoongi chuckles out. "i know all about you, park jimin... dom at dream services. birthday is october thirteenth — you're younger than me and you think you can tell me what to do?"
jimin steps back from the desk, unsure whether to be angry or worried. "h-how?"
it's the first time yoongi's seen jimin lose that attitude of his. that sassiness. he's not sure how much he likes it, but his anger and annoyance keeps him going. logic is sitting up with interest, but does nothing to silence his mouth.
"i'm not stupid, jimin. the way you carry yourself — you're not a usual omega, of course i was gonna have questions. you don't talk about yourself, you don't get friendly, which i get why now, but fuck..." yoongi huffs and throws his hands up, "you're basically living with me and you're a goddamn stranger, jimin. and you expected me to just keep taking it?"
"so what—" jimin pauses, gathering himself up as his throat slowly closes. "you... you looked into me because i wasn't some submissive omega?"
"yeah, i did," yoongi replies. as he goes on and sees how affected jimin is though, he feels less and less pleased with himself and more like he's done something wrong — which he has, as logic finally points out clearly.
jimin stands there, mouth opening and closing. "so you... you know everything, huh? you know why i don't get friendly, do you?" his heart hammers in his chest as he finally steps forward, back towards the desk.
"yes," yoongi replies, his voice cracking. he's losing the steam he had the longer he looks at jimin's face, which has gone from being hurt to emotionless.
"i see," jimin replies quietly, fingers resting on the edge of the desk as he leans into yoongi's face. there's less than a foot between them now and yoongi backs away.
he doesn't like that look on jimin's face. "what?" he finally snaps out.
"i don't appreciate my past being rifled through so recklessly. there's a reason my agency keeps our personal information private," jimin begins, slowly rounding the desk. "we even have cellphones dedicated to the company that we're issued when we join — it's to keep people like you from taking advantage of something you would ruin."
yoongi turns with jimin as he moves around the corner of the desk to his side. his heart jumps into his throat. did he really do something so wrong? he guesses if the situation was flipped, he would be pretty pissed too.
jimin stops, barely two inches between their shoes. they're the same height, but yoongi suddenly feels small. one little nudge from jimin knocks him into his chair, which groans under the sudden weight. it squeaks again when yoongi leans back in it to get away from jimin, who bends over him, knees between yoongi's thighs. the omega grips yoongi's collar in his fist, making sure that the alpha can't get away from him.
"i'll take two weeks away, yoongi. maybe longer. i need time to think about how this makes me really feel — but you know, i can tell you that it's not a good feeling, min yoongi..." he whispers, eyes staring right into yoongi's. he's in yoongi's space and for good reason too. "keep the schedule or don't. right now, i don't care, min yoongi."
with that, jimin steps away from yoongi and leaves the office, muttering 'clueless alpha' to himself as he closes the door behind him.
yoongi doesn't move from his spot for the longest time, eyes staring at the door, heart swooping down into his stomach. his chest tightens when he finally hears the door to the apartment open, then close.
instantly, he's on his feet and heading right to jimin's room. it's empty. there's nothing to even suggest that jimin has been living with him for nearly two months now. had jimin even unpacked?
a strange feeling of loneliness washes over yoongi as he stands in jimin's empty room. it's returned to the state it had been for so long before jimin's presence, but seeing it now devoid of life hurts something in yoongi.
with a heavy sigh, he exits the room. the light is flicked off and the door closed for the final time.
