Jealousy

Summary:

Wash knows that York loves Carolina, and he thinks that Carolina loves him back. It's aggravating, seeing them laugh and talk with each other. The frequent smiles and blushes. He needed to know if Carolina felt that way for York, he needed to know.

Work Text:

York.

York was in love with her, every time he glanced at Carolina, you could see the longing in his eyes.
Every time he talked to Carolina, his tone was more soft around her, the amount of times he blushed near her. He would always talk about Carolina. Carolina this, Carolina that. She did this, oh she did that. How many times he'd get her attention, smile..

This made Wash feel... annoyed, no, not annoyed, more like jealous and exasperated. Do you know what's worse? Whenever York flirted with Carolina, she would flirt back. Everyone thought York was dead, Tex saw him die. Apparently, he wasn't. He explained it all, they were able to bring him back, but unfortunately, without Delta. York found them, he searched everywhere for them. To see Carolina. He had a feeling she wasn't dead. She couldn't have been.

Right now, Wash was in his room, on his bed, thinking about nothing but Carolina and York. At first, he couldn't allow himself to be angry with York, or be jealous. As they were friends. But day by day, jealousy took over him. Luckily, he's good at hiding things.

Everything was going amazing until York came. Right? Wash sighed, he really didn't want to think about this. Unfortunately, it keeps him awake at night.
It's around 1PM, and he hadn't eaten since he woke up. His thoughts were scattered everywhere, he felt like complete shit. Wash rolled his eyes at himself, he sounded so stupid right now.

Without warning, the door burst open. Quickly, Wash hops out of bed, nearly crashing on the floor. Good thing he caught himself. He looked over to the doorway, and then his heart began racing.

Carolina.

'Wash, it's Carolina, is everything okay? You've been really distant lately... I'm starting to get worried.'

Wash's eyes widen, she's been worried?
How could I worry her? Fuck. Carolina shot Wash a very concerned look, she walked in slowly, and sat on his bed.

He sat down next to her, his heart racing, and sweating, really wishing Carolina didn't notice. Wash loved Carolina, he loved her to death. He was planning to confess, but then York came, and then turned the spotlight all to himself. It was like a battle on who was going to get Carolina's attention for the day. Fortunately, York didn't notice Wash's feelings, he didn't make it obvious, but York did.

Everyone knew York loved Carolina, but they didn't mention it to her. It's obvious Carolina is probably oblivious to it.

Hell, York even wrote his own song about loving Carolina. How he wished Carolina wouldn't be such a bitch. Well, that was around Project Freelancer, Carolina has changed so much. She's strong, she's chill, she's more kinder, she's just so fucking perfect and Wash could never reach that standard.

York realized it too, how much she's changed for the better, which made him lovestruck.
Wash gazed at Carolina, studying her. How beautiful she looked. Her glossy and smooth red hair, her jade eyes. That smile on her face, that never leaves. Everything about her is immaculate. Her personality is equivalent to an angel, she had no flaws.

'David?' She states out of nowhere, snapping Wash back to reality. He felt his face burn up, fuck.. Carolina didn't notice though.

'Look, David. I just want to know if everything's okay. I haven't seen you downstairs since last month...' Carolina explicated with apprehension, she reached for Wash's hand, and rubbed it gently.

Right now, Wash's stomach is tingling, it felt so wonderful to be with Carolina, and holding her fucking hand. Wash rose his head up to where Carolina's was, and got lost in her hypnotic eyes. He loved her. He couldn't deny it. He needed to say it. He just had to.

He had one burning question, and if the answer was the one he pleaded for. Then, he'd confess.
If the answer was the one he expected, he would just collapse, or faint in front of her. Tension engulfed the air. Wash knew he was desperate for her. He couldn't let York take her.

'Carolina do you like York?'
Wash eyes widen, realizing what he just asked. Fuck, he didn't want to say it right now. Not at all. Wash's thoughts snapped to the answer he didn't want. What if Carolina loved York? It's obvious. Fuck. What would happen if Carolina figured it out? That Wash loved her. Everything will be awkward, and what if he lost Carolina? Lost a friend. Wash bit his bottom lip.

To his surprise, Carolina chuckled, and then squeezed Wash's hand.
She smiled at him warmly, realizing what this is all about. It all made sense, last month is when York came. That's when Wash became distant, and didn't want to talk to anyone at all. Tucker got worried, mostly all the reds and blues got worried. They'd ask him if he was alright, or if he needed anything. He would respond with I'm fine or No, I don't need anything. Making them worry was the last thing he wanted.

'No. I don't like York in that way, if that's what you're asking. As a best friend? Yes. As a lover? No. And by that question, I know that you have something to tell me, David.' Carolina gently explained, Wash's face lit up, he lightly smiled, Carolina smiled back. Wash couldn't believe it. All these years of crushing on her, of how many times his stomach would flutter when Carolina got near him. When he even talked to Carolina. This is the day he waited for.

The day he would always recall, the day he'd cherished.

No more feeling like shit, no more feeling horrible, jealousy.

Carolina felt her face flush, she loved Wash, Wash was everything to her. She wished she could tell him, this is exactly the right moment.. but... What if she was mistaken? What if he was just curious? But why would he be shuffling around, why is he so flustered?

Carolina thought back, and tried to think about Wash, his actions towards her. Nothing pointed to I love you Carolina. Maybe.. he hid it? No.. that'll be hard right?

Carolina's attention turned to Wash, who was trying to find words to confess.

'Carolina, I love you. You-'

Wash immediately felt a pair of lips crashed into his, he kissed back, his brain had no idea how to feel or what to think.

Carolina wrapped her arms around his waist, Wash immediately snaked his arms around her waist. They began to kiss intensely, their tongues having a fight. All the thoughts rushing throughout Wash's head, he's absolutely speechless, and amazed. How could Carolina love someone like him? He's nothing like her...

They pulled apart, Carolina began to play with Wash's hair, again, Wash started to burn up.

'I love you too, David. I always have.'

Carolina crashed her lips into Wash, once more. After they pulled a part, Carolina laid down on Wash's bed. He joins her, and cuddles up closely against her, resting his head on her stomach.

'Carolina... you're so fucking perfect... Why would you love me? I'm nothing like you..' Wash whimpered sadly, Carolina smiled gently, she began to caress his hair, feeling it intertwined in her fingers.

'David, I don't care. You are everything to me, you showed me how to move on. You're fucking more perfect, Wash. You are all I could ever ask for. You make me feel complete,' Carolina confessed, she pecks Wash's forehead.

'David, you are so cool.. okay? Never believe you're not.. I love you.'

'I love you too, Carolina.'
