Chapter 1: Stop coming over

Chapter Text

He just won't go away, no matter what I do. Every time I tell him to go, he always comes back with the brightest smile on earth. It repulses me.

Their relationship was, complicated to say the least. Every day Madeleine ran around town taking requests from the citizens. Espresso never understood what motivated him. He never once stops smiling, and it ticks Espresso off. How could someone be so happy with everyone's debt on his shoulders?

What made it even worse, was how the long haired man would stop by the flower shop just to pick up flowers for Espresso.

Espresso took a deep breath, taking in all the coffee fumes before exhaling. "This coffee smells horrid. Why can't you do it right? Explain it to me in less then a minute or forever hold it. You waste my time daily." He scoffs, adjusting his round glasses as he hands the coffee cup back to the tall blonde man that stood before him.

Madeleine took it and swirled it around, watching the contents crash against the mug he made. "You never even taste it, but oh well. I'll keep making you them, since you never want to sleep."

The mans big hand rests on his hip, swaying to the side to give Espresso the look of a disheartened mother. The long, wavy blonde hair decided to follow with.
"Maybe talk to me when you know how to make coffee right and can take care of that ridiculously long hair."

Madeleine took a swig of the drink. "I'll try my best to make you a good cup of coffee one day, I promise it!" The man stood tall and proud after that, his warm smile returning. He couldn't let the coffee go to waste of course.

"Now I have to get going, I'll be back tomorrow with new flowers and a new coffee!"
Espresso smirked, a sarcastic line slipped out of him. "Tie up your hair too when you're at it or just cut it off, I don't even know how you work with all that hair."

Madeleine ran one of his hands through his hair, the silky smooth hair running flush between his long fingers. "Do you not like my hair?"
Espresso watched the hair fall out of his hands, gulping ever so silently. He reached into his pocket and took out a long, blue ribbon that matched Madeleine's eyes perfectly. "Here. Just use this, okay? Now leave."

Madeleine swiftly took it, giving him the roses he had behind his back the entire time. Before Espresso could react, Madeleine hopped the fence, causing Espresso to pop a vein "Oh so help me do not ruin my flowers or fencing!" He yelled, tossing his hands up. Madeleine laughed loudly, running off as he half ass put his armor on. "I'm in a rush coffee boy!"

Espresso took a deep breath, it took a lot of self restrain to not kill that man. But that made it all the more fun.

Espresso shook his head as he walked into his office, shutting the door with his foot. The man put the fresh roses down gently, his fingers tracing the stems. He kept every flower Madeleine gave, but he would never admit that.

Espresso sat down and worked until the sun rise after he gave the roses a pretty, gold vase. It reminded him of Madeleine's golden armor, so he bought it. It was easy to get lost in his own little world, of course until the power ran out. The lights flickered then shut off, he ran the power dry. "God damn it." He groaned, cracking his fingers.

Did he really want to call for help? It'll just bring Madeleine back, he thought. Espresso ran his slim fingers through his hair, the swoop remaining perfect. After waiting minutes, there was a heavy knock on the door.

Espresso furrowed his brows, pushing his cape back as he stood and went for the tall, chocolate looking door. "May I he-"

He froze. There stood Madeleine, his hair perfectly tied up with the blue ribbon he had gave. It blended in with his hair perfectly, the small bow in the back adding the perfect touch. "I see you ran the power out again, so I'm here to fix it for you!" He laughed light heartedly.

Espresso stared at him in shock as he adjusted his glasses, he wanted to see this better.
"Somethin' the matter?" The man tilted his head, looking Espresso up and down.

Espresso snapped out of it and looked away, the tips of his ears turning red. "Come in... thank you. I'm fine. You seem vigorous today."

Madeleine's eyes traveled to Espresso's ears, seeing the curved point turn red. Before he walked in, taking in a deep breath as he looked around. "I woke up with you on my mind, so of course I'm feeling grand."

Espresso shut the door, his hand resting on it as he tried to catch his breath. "It's in the far right, the power box." He said, trying to process what he was just told. Why would he make him feel better? All he ever did was shut down his efforts. Why did he always run back here?

Madeleine nodded, glancing at Espresso's packed desk as he walked before he made a sudden halt, causing Espresso to run right into his back.

Madeleine reached behind him to grab Espresso's hand, making sure he didn't tumble over due to impact. "You keep the flowers I give you?..."

Espresso felt the rough calluses on Madeleine's big hands, this was a hand that encountered many wars and labor. "No no, nonsense why would I? Those, those are just.." He tried to find an excuse, his eyes darting around the room in light speed before he made a idea. "Hey why are you still holding my hand? I'm stable now."

Madeleine made a small hupp noise, taking his hand back to his sides. "Sorry about that. Your hands are just, soft." He said, the tip of his nose and cheeks turning red slowly as he walked to the power box. Espresso watched him from afar, rubbing his fingers on his palm, the warmth of Madeleine slowly fading. Was Madeleine enamored for him?

Espresso analyzed the tall man that stood before him. He watched the way his hands worked the box, to the way small strands of hair framed his strong face, causing him to look breathtaking. Why was he seeing him in a new light? Why all of a sudden, did he capture-

Madeleine cheered himself on as the power suddenly came back on. "I did it! Espresso, see? See?!" He smiled wide, running over to him. Espresso sucked in his breath as he saw the man charge for him. In a moment of time, Espresso was lifted off the air and in Madeleine's arms. "What on earth are you doing you imbecile!? I demand you to put me down!" Espresso yelled.

Madeleine's laugh echoed as he swung Espresso around before putting him down. "You're so light!" Madeleine's eyes met Espresso's beautiful brown eyes, his smile becoming less and less as time went by. His face became more focused.

Espresso broke the trance, his cape fluttering as he did a 180. "You're done now, so please make your way to the exit. I'll even open the door for you."

Madeleine walked over, his smile had faded into a thin line of emotion. "Alright, I'll get you a cup of-" as Espresso opened the door, water flooded in due to how hard it was raining. Espresso slammed the door shut before slowly turning to Madeleine.

Great, he was stuck with him. Madeleine took off his coat, adjusting his long sleeved white shirt. "Well, is it alright if I stay here until the rain clears up?"

Espresso screamed no in his head, but there wasn't much he could do but accept his fate. "Yeah, just don't bother me while I work." He said walking past him. Madeleine followed the strong coffee smell, watching him sit down in the seat he always sees him in. "I'm sorry I can't get you flowers today, but I can try making you a coffee!"

Madeleine slid into the kitchen as Espresso rolled his eyes harshly. "I rather you not. I'll make it myself."

Madeleine pouted, grabbing the coffee beans. "No no, you're hard working. Sit there and I'll make it. Please drink it this time."

Espresso scratched his head a he stared into the monitors. "...Fine. But after you must get out of my presence."

Madeleine smiled to himself as he started brewing the coffee, concentrating on the brown substance. He reached into a shelf and grabbed a mug, placing it down on the counter next to another vase of flowers he had gave him. They stood proud and had the perfect amount of water in them, they were well taken care of. Seeing that, Madeleine glanced over to the boy who was lost in his work once more. How could he ever get through to him?...

Madeleine carefully poured the burning hot coffee into the mug, making sure not to make a mess. Once finished, he put the pot back and grabbed the mug carefully. As he walked over, he glanced at all the random sheets of paper sprawled on the floor and desk, It's like he never has time to truly take care of himself.

Madeleine placed the cup by Espresso, glancing at him. "It's hot, so please be careful. Are you sure you aren't tired?"

Espresso took a few moments before his eyes fluttered, as if he just came back to reality. "Huh? Oh. You made me coffee."

He reached out and took the hot mug, pressing his lips to the corner. It smelled.... perfect.

Madeleine watched intensely as Espresso took his first sip, his eyes bouncing off the mug and the mans round glasses. Espresso's eyes fell close as he drank more, it was perfectly smooth. "How did you get it so perfect? That takes time to perfect."

Madeleine silently pumped his fists, feeling extremely accomplished. "I've been practicing every day for about a month now."

Espresso choked on the hot liquid, turning his chair to face Madeleine. "Why!? You barely even like coffee!"

Madeleine's face softened as he focused his attention to Espresso. "For you. I know you love coffee and barely sleep, so I constantly practiced to get the best flavor for you to enjoy."

Espresso's heart skipped a beat, his eyes meeting Madeleine's once again. "You didn't have to, you know."

Espresso ran his hand along his pant leg, he was deep in thought. "Well it must be late according to you, I only have one bed but I rarely use it. You can crash there."

Madeleine nodded, ruffling Espresso's hair before running off. "Don't stay up too late! Thank you!"

Espresso tensed up as his hair was messed up, everything about Madeleine was just so.. frenzy. Espresso took a deep breath, rubbing his palms together before working once more. After a while, Espresso's mind became fuzzy. All he could think about was the sweet gestures Madeleine did for him. It made him wonder....

.... does he do this for anyone else? Is he, special to him? Espresso got up, his palms firmly pressed to his desk, trying to get rid of these crucial thoughts. Espresso glanced at his bedroom door, wondering if Madeleine was already asleep or not. Out of pure, curiosity, Espresso silently cracked open the door, taking a peak at the man.

Madeleine was asleep in the bed, his features glistened in the moonlight. His long hair flowed all around, he had taken out the ribbon. The blue ribbon dangled from his hanging hand, it seems like he crashed almost immediately.

Espresso sighed, smiling to himself at the sight. As he walked in, he went for the ribbon. Slowly taking it out of Madeleine's hand, he placed it on the bedside drawer.

Before walking off, his curiosity swallowed him whole. Espresso leaned over, his fingers hesitate before pushing the mans wavy hair out of his face. Suddenly, Madeleine's hand slid perfectly into Espresso's, causing Espresso to let out a small gasp. "Don't leave.."

Espresso's heart ran fast. What was this? Before he could even think about the hundreds of meanings, Madeleine pulled him into bed with him, spooning him tightly. "..mm, coffee."

Espresso covered his mouth, his face and ears lighting up red. No, no. This was not happening, right? Maybe he was being mistaken for someone. Madeleine pressed a soft kiss to the back of Espresso's neck, his thumb caressing his hip. Is this a dream? This cannot be reality. Never in a million years did he think this would ever happen.

Espresso soon softened, there was no way of prying the huge bear off of him. He took of his glasses, sliding them onto the bed stand before rubbing his face. curiosity for sure kills the cat.

Now, how was he going to get out of this one?
