Chapter Text
“Let’s just say none of you can raise the dead.” A gust of wind and Peter was gone. The group was left just staring at the waving grass, the only sign that he had just been there. Everyone was silent, slowly trying to process Peter’s rant.
“Dead?” Kurt asked quietly. “Did… did someone die?” The question was directed at the few adults gathered around.
Charles looked away from the speed carved path in the grass to acknowledge Kurt. “Not that I know of. But that could mean it was long ago, not something recent.”
“Didn’t he also mention his dad?” Hank asked, a sad and confused look on his face, almost akin to a kicked puppy who didn’t know why they were kicked. “I thought Peter’s dad wasn’t in the picture? That’s what his mom told us, right?”
“Oh, he’s definitely in the picture.” Raven snorted quietly, albeit not quietly enough.
“What do you mean by that?” Charles asked, eyes boring into the side of Raven’s head. She looked a little embarrassed at being caught, and Ororo looked apprehensive yet annoyed, although no one was looking at her to know that.
“I…” Raven trailed off for a moment. “It’s not really my secret to share, Charles.” At this, Ororo forgot her hesitation and merely raised an eyebrow.
“Well, you had no trouble telling me.” She sniped. Raven looked between Ororo and Charles, sighing in dejection. Charles took it as permission to look at the secret nestling in her mind.
“Oh god.” He whispered suddenly. “Well that’s certainly a surprise. Actually... not really.”
“What?” Scott snapped. “What are you not telling us?”
“It appears Peter’s father hasn’t been as out of the picture as we thought.” Charles replied quizzically.
Ororo groaned. “For fucks sake, stop dancing around it! The murderous metal man is Peter’s father!” Well. You can guess how everyone reacted to that.
