Work Text:
Danny hasn’t been seen — in the literal sense of the word — all morning.
It started that morning when Jack had been messing with an invention in the living room trying to figure out how to activate it when Danny, in ghost form, crashed into the room. Jack had shot him with the invention out of pure instinct, and Danny’s powers had gone haywire for the next hour until settling down. And Danny had found himself invisible.
And he doesn't know how to make it stop.
He doesn't show up to school that morning. Everyone thought Danny Fenton was missing because if he told anyone that he was right there, just invisible, it would blow his cover.
It hurt to watch his parents frantic searching, but he knew it would hurt more to be torn apart molecule by molecule, so he doesn’t say anything.
So he waited. Waits for the stupid effects of that invention to wear off so that he can go back home. He waits quietly because he knows he can't let anyone hear him.
It was taking far too long.
