Work Text:
It was the night of the gala and Alexander was late. He wasn’t trying to be, as much as the thought of the event made him groan, not when his partners had put so much work into hosting the extravagant thing. It didn’t change the fact that the two ends of his bowtie hung limply against his chest and the rest of Alexander’s costume was still lying on the bed, untouched from when they’d been set out for him hours earlier.
He was in half a mind to give up entirely and wait out the night alone. There wasn’t much to miss, either way. The food wasn’t worth the hours of polite conversation underlaid with ridiculous etiquette and subtle jabs at his mortality. No, dealing with the vampiric upper-class would just be another headache he didn’t need. Alexander was looking for relief, thank you very much.
If only he wasn’t one of the hosts, even technically speaking.
He’d half-heartedly taken up the ends of his bowtie again when a knock came at his door. He took a guess as to which of his partners had come to check on him.
“Thomas?”
He was right.
“Figured I’d find you up here.” The Virginian sighed as he stepped inside the room, then glancing over the current state of Alex’s attire. “And you’re not even dressed… Darling, you realize we’ve been waiting for you for hours now?”
“Not my fault the clothes you picked are just as stubborn,” Alex replied, a grin pulling at his lips as he saw Thomas roll his eyes from the edge of his vision. “Besides, do we really need to be down there? Frankly, I’d rather be one of the hors d’oeuvres than have to deal with whatever the hell’s considered proper conversation down there.”
“And you think we enjoy any more than you do?” Thomas replied with a laugh as he sidled up in front of Alex and took the bowtie from his hands. “Alexander, you’re the only thing that makes it even remotely bearable… Not to mention how much worse it is as a host.”
Alexander huffed in response, tilting his chin back as his partner tightened the knot on his bowtie and straightened it in place. “If you’re trying to convince me to join you, you’re doing a very bad job; all I’m hearing is we should stay up here for the rest of the night and save us the mutual headache.”
“Alexander…” Thomas murmured. His tone was warning, but he didn’t stop Alex as he trailed his hands down his lapels and spread his fingers over his chest.
Alex couldn’t help but roll his eyes as he leaned up on his toes with a tilt of his head. “Oh, come on. What’s so wrong with making our own fun? There’s plenty we can do with just us.”
“Perhaps… But then we’d be leaving Gil out, I don’t think we want that.” Thomas’ lips were close now, so close, but still so far from where Alexander wanted them to be.
“Then go get him, I’m sure he’ll appreciate a break from the pleasantries,” Alex replied with a laugh, the sound fading into a sigh as Thomas cupped the back of his head and left his thumb pointedly on his pulse point.
His partner hummed quietly in response, considering Alex for a moment before he stepped back with a shrug and then turned his back on Alex with a goddamn flourish of his coattails. “You should get him yourself. I, for one, need to get back to being a good host. I’ll see you downstairs soon, I hope?”
“Fucking- fine. I’ll get dressed, save me some champagne or whatever else we have to keep me sane through the night.” Alexander huffed, reaching for his blazer and silently debating if he could pull off wearing it in an off-the-shoulder style.
“Don’t worry, Gil and I will make sure you’re taken care of.”
He wanted to argue, since Thomas had clearly neglected a very present need barely even a minute before, but he’d paused in the door with his hand on the frame and was looking back at Alexander in this kind of way that made any retort falter on the tip of his tongue.
“Hey,” He said instead, quieter than even he expected, “Can I get a kiss at least?”
Thomas rolled his eyes again, a playful gesture this time before he turned back around. “Alright, but just one.”
Alexander couldn’t help the grin that pulled at his lips as his partner returned to him, nor the laugh as Thomas took his chin between his thumb and forefinger and regarded him.
“Wasting time? And here I thought you were so desperate to get back to the party.”
“Hush, it never hurts to take a moment.”
And then their lips were together in a moment made to be chaste. Of course, always wanting more Alexander took a chance to nip at Thomas’ lower lip and swipe his tongue over his fangs in the moment his partner’s lips were parted in shock.
“Behave.” His partner growled; a sound hungry yet warning as he pulled away only enough so he could speak. “If you can be good, I might just let us continue this when the night is said and done.”
Alexander simply grinned in response. They both knew that despite his many virtues, patience had never been one of them. “I guess we’ll see how it goes.”
Thomas watched him for a moment before sighing, pulling away almost reluctantly as he worried at his lip. He may not have had the ability to bleed, but it was a reminder that Alexander could and would do it for him.
After another, unspoken moment between them, Thomas turned again and left Alexander to his own devices. And although he was silent as he dressed Alex’s mind was whirring with what to do with himself. He had never been one to wait, but now that it was up to him to get what he wanted, well…
Alexander wasn’t going to behave.
Since Thomas had gone ahead of him Alexander was left to enter the ballroom alone. A feat that should not have been as daunting as it was, save for the fact that he would be the only mortal among what had to have been a gathering of every noble vampire of the northern hemisphere. He made a point of ignoring how the atmosphere shifted in his immediate area as conversation slowed and he was sure more than just champagne glasses and cutlery were glinting in the artificial candlelight that lit the room.
It was his one piece of power he held within the room, being both a host and partner to Thomas and Lafayette; if he didn’t acknowledge anything was off, then neither could they. That being said, social standings meant little to Alexander and it was difficult to shrug off the subtle, sharpened gazes that came with every thump of his heart in his chest.
Yet being wanted but untouchable came with a kind of control Alexander also couldn’t ignore.
Lafayette was caught up entertaining his guests with conversation and Thomas must have been off in another unseen corner of the crowd. To keep himself busy Alexander made his way to the many tables of food lined along the western wall. Originally, the promise of good food had been the only reason he’d agreed to even attend the gala in the first place. Now that he’d have to hang around for however many hours needed of him he might as well have a bite to eat.
The cakes drew his attention first. They were one of the few items left untouched, most likely because the etiquette-ordained time for dessert had yet to come. Not that etiquette had ever stopped Alex, if anything it was just more motivation to help himself to the sweet treats. While there were smaller, more snack-like options stacked on well-decorated trays, the traditional towered cakes were what retained his focus.
Alex picked up the knife, an ornate thing not unlike the kind he’d expect to find at a wedding, hovering the edge over the pristine frosting as he made a final decision. Then, as brought the knife down into the cake he slipped his forefinger over the blade.
He hissed in pain and dropped the knife, cradling his hand to inspect the damage that had been done. It was a small but stubborn cut, the kind that would not stop bleeding until properly treated; easily perceivable as a mistake.
Alexander was barely given time to relish in his little piece of power as the change in atmosphere fell over the ballroom in waves. Lafayette was by his side before Alex could comprehend his presence, gripping tightly at his wounded hand as vampiric agility carried them both out of the room before the next beat of Alexander’s heart.
“Show it to me,” Lafayette spoke quickly, quietly as he began to inspect Alexander’s hand for the source of the blood.
“I’m sorry,” Alex replied almost reflexively, letting his partner fuss over the cut and try to clean it with a handkerchief. “I was just getting some cake, and…”
Lafayette shook his head in response, casting a slight smile up at Alex before his focus returned to the wound. In the following silence, he took in the space they now occupied.
It wasn’t a room he had been to before, or at least had never paid any mind if he had. It was a small space, though what function it served Alexander wasn’t sure. With only the moonlight coming through the windows to illuminate the space it was hard to see more than the outlines of furniture. However, he could still hear the party from not too far away. Was this some sitting room off the foyer?
A frustrated ‘tsk’ from Lafayette broke Alexander from his thoughts. He looked up at his partner to see him still fussing over the tiny injury. “Stubborn little thing… I fear this may not heal within a timely manner.”
Alexander cast a sideways glance at the door and the direction of the party, holding back his excited grin by biting his lip. “There’s still one thing we can do, but… y’know.”
Lafayette watched him for another moment. Alex presumed he was weighing the consequences of a short drink between the consequences of leaving the cut untreated.
“Look at me,” Lafayette spoke, a quiet demand Alexander knew he could not ignore.
He obeyed silently, holding his breath as Lafayette held his chin and inspected him in a different kind of way. Alex was suddenly very aware that his back was against the wall and his partner had him cornered. There was no escaping this.
“Your heart races and yet you remain unafraid. You wanted this, didn’t you?” Lafayette asked, though his words weren’t really a question. He shook his head. “Alexander…”
“In my defence,” Alex started, even though there was nothing he could say to make his situation better. “Thomas promised me a treat and we all know I’m not a patient person.”
A sharp bark of a laugh came from his partner in response. “Oh, no. Do not try to shift the blame of this fiasco onto our Thomas. Not while he’s out there cleaning up your mess.”
“I should leave you here, lock the door and make you wait even longer for this.” Lafayette continued. He was still holding Alexander’s injured hand and was now using it to pin him to the wall. “You should consider yourself lucky that the prospects of another kind of punishment are too tempting to ignore. Bold, idiotic thing you are to let yourself bleed so openly…”
Alexander would have laughed or responded with some witty comeback were it not for the almost dangerous grin that had found its way onto Lafayette’s expression. His fangs were visible now, sharp and glinting and wanton for blood, Alexander’s blood. Words lost to him in the moment he shifted instead, cocking his head to the side as if daring Lafayette to take a bite.
The action drew a darkened hiss from his partner. The hold he had on Alexander’s wrist was tight, and tighter now still as he leveraged his grip to pin his hand above his head. “One day your insolence will get you into true trouble, mon amour.”
With a hunter’s precision Lafayette sunk his fangs into Alexander’s neck, an action sharp and fast and deep that drew a keening gasp from the afflicted.
“Shit, Gil-” Instinct and shock made Alex strain against his partner’s hold, leg coming up to press his heel against the wall for leverage only for Lafayette to catch the limb and use it to hold him ever closer.
His lips may have been busy sucking blood from the puncture wounds but the growl that came from Lafayette’s throat told all Alexander needed to know in response. There would be nothing gentle in his intentions.
Slowly the sapping sedation of the bite began to take hold. Alexander’s heart was still racing but his body was starting to fall pliant under Lafayette’s lips, tongue, and hands. With a groan, his eyes started to flutter and a languid shiver ran down his spine. Then, just as he was starting to enjoy himself, Lafayette pulled back.
“Not yet.” His partner muttered, the warning being met with a whine as Alex attempted to strain against him again. “You’ll get your relief after I’ve had my fill.”
“Keeping all the fun for yourself? It’s unlike you, Gil.” Neither Alexander nor Lafayette, with senses either dulled or otherwise occupied, had noticed Thomas enter the room.
Lafayette seemed more shocked at first than Alexander did. Perhaps some part of him still held the party he was hosting in mind. He soon smiled, however, tongue and teeth still stained red as he licked his lips. “Ah, mon coeur. So nice of you to join us.”
Alexander grinned as Thomas approached, hoping he’d give him the relief he needed, to be the sweetness to Lafayette’s salt. Instead, he focused on Lafayette, bringing him into a kiss in search of remnant tastes of Alexander on his lips. As frustrating as it was for Alex to simply watch his partners give their focus to each other and not him it was mesmerizing to witness the subtle moves for dominance and the selfish twist in Lafayette’s lips when Thomas must have taken the taste he was looking for off his lips.
Lafayette is the first to pull away, almost seeming to look up at Thomas despite their equal statures. “Enough. Can’t let myself become too much of a mess.”
“I’d think Alex has something different to say about that.” Thomas hummed in response, glancing pointedly at his still-bleeding puncture wounds and the dark red stain on the collar of his shirt.
“And what, you’re not going to finish what you started?” Alex spoke up, finding his voice again. “What happened to having your fill?”
Lafayette opened his mouth, something of a sneer pulling at his lips before Thomas caught him in another kiss. “Oh, I think we can manage both just fine.”
Alexander couldn’t help but squirm, no longer content to watch his partners. He was right there, goddammit, but he couldn’t do anything about it.
At least Thomas noticed him because he laughed and brought him off the wall and into his arms. With his back pressed flush against Thomas’ chest Alex realized he was still as much at the whim of his partners than he was pinned to the wall. At least now, however, behind him was a wall that held him firm yet gently and eyed him like the beautiful, bleeding thing he was.
“And I told you to behave… Now, look where we are.” Thomas muttered as Lafayette drew closer again. The party could still be heard, though faintly, a party that would soon be missing its hosts.
“That was your mistake, mon coeur, to not deal with the situation when it first presented itself,” Lafayette replied, something of a grin pulling at his lips as he made quick work of the shirt and tie that took Alex far too long to put on in the first place.
Alexander thought it unfair, that he was now exposed and his partners decidedly weren’t. But he loved it, too, to be on display for both of them like this and at their whim. To have his cake and eat it too was never an easy thing. Still, he could try.
He reached up and back for Thomas with a pout, fingers reaching for stray curls as he pressed his lips to the underside of his chin. In turn, Thomas traced along the edge of Alex’s jaw with a finger, tilting his head to better face him for a kiss. His lips were gentle and willing, a stark contrast to Lafayette’s earlier treatment of him.
Alexander loved them both, but one without the other became too much or too frustrating too fast.
Through the kiss, he was subtly aware that Lafayette had moved to lick clean the bleeding remnants of the bite as his hands wandered lower, lower to hook under Alexander’s thighs and bring his legs off the ground. Alex didn’t flinch in response, no, but now without his legs underneath him, he did withdraw further into Thomas’ devoted arms.
Thomas hummed something unspoken against Alex’s lips in reassurance before he broke the kiss and moved instead to trail the tips of his fangs down along his neck, undoubtedly searching for a place to bite. Alexander let his head lull to the side, granting him whatever access he desired as his eyes closed in anticipation.
The sound of shifting metal and leather and fabric and then a hand around his half-hard cock brought him out of the moment with Thomas. Alex bit down in his tongue to hold back his moan but the tensing shiver that ran up his spine did not go unnoticed by Lafayette. A purring laugh was what he got in response as he was toyed with, distracted until Thomas, picky and tempered, finally sunk his fangs into Alex near the base of his neck.
“Shit-!” The cry was abrupt, sharp as his partner’s fangs and not something Alex could hold back. His fingers, still reaching back into Thomas’ hair clutched tightly and pulled at their new anchor reflexively. Thomas’s fangs only dug deeper in response, a wanton, hungered sort of growl having been pulled from his throat by Alex’s reaction.
Alexander wanted to lose himself in his second bite of the night, to grip harder, pull harder at Thomas’ hair and drive him headlong into what he’d been wanting since he first appeared at their bedroom door. But Lafayette’s thumb along his lower lip stole his focus and brought his hazy gaze to meet with half-lidded eyes.
“Open.” Lafayette spoke, an order Alex didn’t disobey, not in his current state.
He let his jaw fall slack and took Lafayette’s thumb into his mouth, sucking on it and drawing his tongue up its length to draw circles on the pad. Alex chased it as best he could when Lafayette withdrew only for the digit to soon be replaced by two of his fingers.
Some, still sober part of Alexander realized what Lafayette was planning and took his fingers eagerly into his mouth, sucking and lapping until the digits were warm and slick with saliva. Alex couldn’t help but shiver when Lafayette withdrew those, too, attention caught between anticipation and the present penetration of Thomas’ fangs.
Slow, pressed circles around his rim won over and brought a moan from Alexander’s lips along with it. He wasn’t quite conscious of his own voice anymore, not when his focus was being pulled by the sweet and salt of both his partners.
Lafayette pushed a single finger inside of Alex, testing, stretching, and slowly relaxing the muscles until he could add a second. He fell into a rhythm somewhere between toying and prepping that brought his fingertips almost, almost to Alexander’s prostate until he was keening and squirming as much as he could caught between his two lovers.
“What happened to that sharp little tongue of yours, mon amour? I wonder…” Lafayette murmured against Alexander’s ear, teasing his fangs around his lobe while he undid his belt buckle to free his own hardened cock. “Do you have nothing to say? No mind to even beg?”
“Fuck, Gil.” Alexander managed, his voice something between a hiss and a moan as he tried to gather a glare from beneath his immediate pleasure. “Just- fucking please.”
Satisfied with the response, Lafayette caught Alex’s stuttering lips in a kiss and bit at his lower lip to renew the taste of iron on his tongue. He pushed the tip of his cock into Alex’s readied hole, giving him little time to adjust to the stretch before he was thrusting his full length into him only to bottom out in the next breath. This was still a punishment.
Prepared and yet wholly unprepared Alex cried out, a sound sharp and loud that must have been heard from the ballroom, revealing to their guests what had come to pass if the scent of flowing blood had not alerted them already.
But Alexander’s thoughts had never been on the gala he and his lovers were meant to host, so he did not try to stop himself as he continued to cry and keen and moan as Thomas and Lafayette had their way with him.
It felt like far too long and nowhere near long enough when Alexander began to approach the edge. His shoulder was warm and wet and sticky from Thomas’ fevered but unfocused and the wounds he was still tending to. Lafayette’s precision was beginning to wane, thrusts just short of staggering as he pressed firm against Alex’s prostate for his own pleasure while his free hand handle Thomas’ straining, unattended cock.
“Fuck, I—” Alex’s words were cut short by a gasp, his voice disobediently keening as he was pushed another step closer to the edge. Still, he was understood.
Thomas did not speak but only growled, holding Alex tighter to brace with both as Lafayette pulled him into a devouring kiss. It was all too much and exactly what he needed. Alexander came with a long cry, making a sticky white mess of his chest as his lovers soon found their own climaxes through each other.
They fell still. Alexander dazed and lightheaded and unsure if his legs would still hold him, Thomas cooing sweet nothings as he slowly licked the wounds he created clean, and Lafayette still buried deep inside Alex with his head resting in the crook of his shoulder.
Lafayette was the first to move, slowly pulling out and kissing the corner of Alex’s lips when he whined at the loss of contact and overstimulation from the shift. He did not release his legs, however, and instead traced small circles with his thumbs over Alex’s still quivering thighs in an attempt to calm the muscle.
“Perhaps we got a little too carried away…” Thomas murmured with a low sigh, taking a handkerchief from his pocket and wiping away the mess on Alex’s chest. There wasn’t much he could do about the mess they’d both made of Alexander as a whole.
“Y’think?” Alex replied, laughing between breaths. He was still panting, still trying to catch his breath, but his grinning insolence was returning. “It was worth it, though. Fuck…”
Thomas laughed quietly and Lafayette smiled, gently letting go of Alex to let him stand on his own two feet again. “We’ll both need a change of clothes. And you, mon amour, will need a bed.”
“What? No…” Alex replied with a huff. He squirmed despite his unsteady legs, trying to pull Lafayette towards him again. Were they really going to go be hosts again after all of that?
“Unfortunately, yes. Don’t deny yourself of rest.” Thomas insisted, though his tone was gentle, as he gathered up Alexander into his arms so he could carry him back to the bedroom.
“And at the very least we’ll need to dismiss everyone before we can join you.” Lafayette continued, taking one of Alexander’s hands and kissing his palm. “We won’t be very long.”
Alexander wanted to protest further but then they were already in their bedroom and Thomas had set him down on the plush mattress. Damn vampiric speed, it wasn’t fair. “You’d better keep that promise…”
Thomas offered him a reassuring smile and Lafayette stopped by his side to kiss him again, but neither gave any verbal confirmation. It was frustrating for Alexander but he knew they couldn’t do much after already breaking the rules to entertain him. He only sighed as he slipped beneath the covers, allowing himself to at least get comfortable while he was made to wait.
Alexander watched for a little bit as Thomas searched the closet and Lafayette as he redid his hair, both working to conceal what had transpired between the three of them. But the high of orgasm was fading, leaving Alex’s mind to fall in line with his tired and spent body. It was just when Thomas and Lafayette had readied themselves for the party once more could Alex no longer keep his eyes open. He only just heard the quiet click of his partners locking the door behind them before Alexander finally succumbed to sleep.
Alexander felt the bed dip next to him. He wasn’t sure how long he’d been asleep, but as he stirred and released the pillow (which he didn’t remember ever cuddling up with like that) to face the presence next to him he heard Lafayette hushing him and murmuring soft apologies in French. Too drowsy to entirely care nor hear the words beyond ‘I am sorry, my love. But we are here now,’ Alex only hummed with quiet content as he curled into Lafayette’s chest.
And then Thomas was behind him, too, draping an arm across Alexander’s waist and drawing him in close. “Just go back to sleep, don’t worry about nothing.”
From the tired note in both their voices, a more awake Alex would have guessed it was nearing dawn and his partners did not return as soon as they promised. However, he wasn’t more awake, so Alexander didn’t care. His partners were here, in bed with him where they needed to be and that was what mattered.
He muttered something similar to a very sleepy “Good morning…” before the softness of the mattress and the not-quite warmth of his partners drew him back into his dreams.
Soon, Thomas and Lafayette fell asleep right alongside him.
