Chapter Text
It was midnight october 23rd 2001. Jolyne, who was 9 at the time, heard her parents, Jotaro and Marina Kujo, talking downstairs, quietly sneaking downstairs, listening to them by the stairs.
“Marina, I think we should get a divorce…” “what..?” “I said we should get a divorce. I’m never home and it's hurting both you and Jolyne. I want you to find someone better than me” Jotaro explained “I still love you dearly but I want you to have a better partner than me who will be there for you.”
Jolyne teared up listening, running to her room, hiding under her covers as she sobbed hearing the news of her parents getting a divorce. Jotaro was never home because he worked overseas as a marine biologist, but he genuinely loved Marina and Jolyne, and wanted the best for them.
The next morning Jolyne woke up, remembering what happened the night prior, getting a bit upset, crawling out of bed and walked downstairs, seeing Jotaro at the door with all of his stuff packed up. Jotaro knew from the night prior she heard the conversation cause he heard her running up stairs.
“Don’t go, daddy…” Jolyne said quietly before running over to Jotaro, hugging him tightly “please don’t go…”
Jotaro sighed, kneeling down and hugging her back “I’m sorry Jolyne, this is for the best, I promise I’ll come visit you, okay?"
Jolyne just nodded, wiping her tear filled eyes, waving goodbye to Jotaro as he walked away. Jolyne quickly turned to Marina, hugging her tightly .
"Why did daddy have to go…"
"He's a busy man, honey… I'm sorry you have to go through this…" Marina explained, hugging her back. "I wish this didn't have to happen either…"
